The monthly update:

Gentlemen, I think all of you will agree that after this overheated summer we had an interesting October. A so called Death Cross gave us some little excitement. This is how we know our old friend, the honey badger. Speaking of temperatures, it is already much too cold for October. What should one do in the house when everything is tidy and the laundry has been washed?

For my part, I thought last year a new job would be a good thing at least for the winter time (my old workplace was chilly and I knew the new one has a working furnace) and a way to accumulate more BTC. The goal was to accumulate a certain amount within a year. Unfortunately, I did not manage to accumulate the whole lot, the current bull started early. Well, I was still able to purchase 60% of the planned Satoshis and can confirm the heating in the new office works. Wink

And what's the moral of the story? Well, even if the weather is bad and the little bulls come out early, you can make the best out of this situation and enjoy the little things.

Have a nice November, Gentlemen! Smiley

Don't know about pure nicotine, but i guess it's easier to get away from it than from tobacco with its dozens or hundreds of secret additives.
Nicotine is more or less like caffeine. If you can't drink your usual cup of coffee or tea, you may get a headache and be a little grumpy. After a while these "withdrawal symptoms" will disappear. What makes cigarette withdrawal so difficult is definitely contained in the thousands of additives found in cigarettes today. One of them might be monoamine oxidase inhibitors, I do not know if they are naturally present in tobacco, but if someone responds to them and want to stop smoking, it could make it very difficult.

A payment for three months was sent as the machine keeps pushing time through the cogs... listened to the unnamed hybrid. Will bump the thread as well, enjoy. Smiley
26  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Nun auch in Deutsch! Gewinnspiel: Wo steht BTC am Ende des 4. Quartals 2019? on: October 05, 2019, 12:22:44 PM

27  Economy / Speculation / Re: Q4 -Quarter 4 speculation thread, where will 2019 end, join the LIST on: October 05, 2019, 12:06:53 AM
The quarterly game, I'm in, thanks Mic! Smiley

This time it's hard for me to figure out any meaningful guess, other than sideways and a little up.

Well then, our opening price on the first of October was $8304. When I add our average gains since 2011 for October, November and December (according to this spreadsheet), the outcome is $11978 and this will be my guess.

My second Haiku is due:

Winter is coming
The summer was burning hot
It's time to arise

The monthly update:

After an annoying hot summer it became quickly chilly in September, at least we got some rain for more green in Q4. Where are the days you can enjoy life outside? Well then, more time for work and accumulation. Speaking of which, September was another good month to gather some more BTC as we can see in chart above.

As mentioned last month, I bought my Satoshis this month from Coinbase Pro, as advertised just 0.15% trading fee, that was is. I've noticed they do not batch transactions? Strange. Well, as they wish, better that the new 0.5% trading fee and 0.0005 BTC withdrawal fee on Bitstamp. Tongue

Gentlemen, have a pleasant October. Smiley

Inspired by HairyMaclairy, I fed Excel with some data and generated this spreadsheet. I'm sure it's just noise. However...  Wink If you sold BTC on Tuesday before the expiry of the future and used the fiat to buy BTC on the expiration day (Friday), you could on average buy 2.5% more BTC back. If you used 1 BTC for this kind of accumulation in 2018, this would have resulted in 1.3 BTC by the end of the year. In 2019 (starting again with 1 BTC) in 1.22 BTC so far.

I'm working on a similar spreadsheet for the first, second and third week of the month, let's see what these look like...

Time for my hodl sleep. Smiley
Well, this was fun, a lot of noise. However...  Wink If someone sold BTC on Tuesday two weeks before the expiry of the monthly CME Future and used the fiat to buy BTC on the same week on Friday, he/she/it could on average buy 2.98% (2018) or 2.36% (2019 so far) more BTC back.

Rinse and repeat in the expiration week and add another 2.50/2.22%.

Noise:

Anyone have a historic list of CME Bitcoin Futures listing and expiration dates?

Not sure if the source is accurate, but these expiration dates might be a starting point for your research. Smiley

Hey speaking of, the entire west is heading towards communism.

In germany a baker was faced with a 25k euro fine for having KG instead of kg on the signs in his shop. We are already living under stalinist conditions.

I'd like to hear the facts from two sources. It's not the commies IMO. It's obsessive insistence with The Rulez and the stantarts that neet to be folloft. The Germans are chronically prone to it, as are some other people, each in their own way. There must be a way for a peep to carve himself some slack. I would start to look for any specific reference to minuscule g's in the letter of the law. As for the spirit, typography apart, it's probably meant to ban unconverted pounds or ounces.
It always starts with one extreme edge case. Then that eventually gets normalized, and they go even further. Communism is a gradual process, not a single event.
I don't know if this is still about facts? However, as a German I am more than happy to explain how the executive works over here collecting pocket money (fines and fees) for the state and/or city.

We have plenty of laws (you can be sure you will violate some as soon as you leave your own property - okay, you probably violate some of them by just breathing on your own property as well). For example, there are laws for retailers how to indicate/state the price and weight of products, how to weigh the product, that scales have to be calibrated every so often, etc. Obviously we have government agencies in place to check all these rules and regulations are being followed.

Let's say that one of the friendly inspectors went into a shop and found the baker violated one of the laws. Our baker will now receive a letter informing him what he has done wrong and that he should correct his mistake within e.g. two weeks, otherwise he can be fined up to 25k EUR. This maximum amount is specified in the applicable law. After two weeks it will be checked whether the baker has fulfilled his duty or not. If not - a fine of, let's say 1k EUR, will be charged and he will receive a second letter in which he will be informed of his first fine, how to pay it and of course he will have to correct his mistake within a new deadline, if he does not... he will receive a third letter to pay 2k EUR and so on. In case the baker is... persistent, he will eventually reach the maximum fine. That's basically how citizens will be "educated" over here.

The key point is most people miss the "up to" in the first letter and panic. Wink

Mainstream media will not notice this either, they have to sell a headline.

The monthly update:

August was glowing red again. These hot summers are just annoying. They are only good for one thing, accumulation.

Speaking of accumulation, Bitstamp is now charging a 0.5% trading fee and a new 0.0005 BTC withdrawal fee (imagine you could batch 100 withdrawals into a single transaction)... Next month I'll try Coinbase Pro and might use it as the reference price starting next year. Who will buy with these fees at Bitstamp? Not me. Even Kraken would be more economical.

Gentlemen, have a great September! Smiley
34  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: MtGox geht in Konkurs on: August 19, 2019, 07:31:50 PM
We will receive 25% or 10% of our bitcoins from mt gox?
Because I guess if Michael Hourigan offers us $20,000 for example, we'll get a lot more per mt gox?

Nobody can tell how much (and especially when) will be distributed. At the moment you get 440 USD (per BTC, Kobayashi has already dumped parts of our BTC to cover this fiat value). In addition there is your share of BTC (and BCH). Mt.Gox Legal estimates that you will get 18% back, that is 0.18 BTC (and 0.18 BCH) for 1 BTC. At https://www.ozcoin.com.au/ you can calculate how much to "expect".

Since 440 USD + 0.18 BTC (+ 0,18 BCH) are currently more USD "worth" (about 2427 USD) than the offered 900 USD, I would personally only accept the offer in case I really, really need the fiat.

Well then... as Coincave.nl and Myminingpool.uk do not pay does not pay, will give zergpool.com a shot. Smiley
There is nothing wrong with myminingpool.uk, payments are going out fine?. Payments over 1 scifi coin every 30 mins or so. What address did you use and what miner?.
Good to know the payment threshold on myminingpool.uk is 1 SCIFI. I mined there for ~14 days with my outdated Moonlander (400 kH/s). I know it's a slow device, but I guess it should have mined more than 1 SCIFI in this period of time? The address is Scw3FNihq9iriSyH1sA72Dhp4RXbLR77xX. Thanks for checking. Smiley
Hello dunkellheit667, I have checked to payment threshold and it was set to 70 scifi coins, the person who setup the mining pool set it way to high. I have changed this to 10 scifi coins, which will take effect from 21:00 uk time on the 17-08-19 as there will be a server restart.
I have checked your wallet on the block explorer and the last transaction was on the 06-07-19, i have set 1 of my miners to mine on your address after the changes take effect you should get a payment within 24 hours of the threshold payment change, depending on the pow diff level. Smiley
Your address has been paid with block 579529, that has confirmed that myminingpool.uk is paying out. Smiley
Hi dagnam,

Thanks for checking and please excuse the late reply, had to enjoy an offline weekend. Wink I saw four 10+ SCIFI payments flowing in since block 579529, guess at least the 1st one got boosted by your miner, which is really appreciated. The 4th payment approx. one day ago made me raise an eyebrow. Thanks a bunch for the tip! I will store the amount in a safe place and share it as a tip myself one day. Smiley

I have asked my little Moonlander where he wants to mine in the future and we agreed he will stay connected to myminingpool.uk. Cool

Cheers,
Dunkelheit667

The monthly update:

Spring is finally over, the summer has arrived and is already far too hot (at least for my liking).

So here we go with a red month of July. That's fine, let's cool down a bit to enjoy new, fresh green in the future.

China teaches its people what real money looks like, a chairmans saw the light, fresh fiat will be printed, responsibly minded investors can finally buy the real thing - you know the drill, my accumulation phase is not finished. Grin

Gentlemen, enjoy the month of August!
