Robocoin Faces Lawsuit Over Bitcoin ATM Refund

Quote
Embattled bitcoin ATM maker Robocoin is facing yet another upset, this time in the form of a looming customer lawsuit.

Bitcoin Solutions, a Canadian outfit operating three bitcoin ATMs across Alberta and Saskatchewan, announced its intention to sue Robocoin in a Reddit post Thursday evening.

President Adam O’Brien is seeking to get back part of the $25,000 he paid for an kiosk in January 2014. According to Bitcoin Solutions, the machine was never delivered.

22  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-08-02] pcworld.com: Italian police shutter Dark Web marketplace on: August 03, 2015, 04:03:41 PM
Which one? The article doesn't even seem to say what the market was called. Not surprising that another has been taken down, though. These markets will likely become obsolete any way when decentralized markets get going.

Europol's press release doesn't enter into details; however, they said it was facilitating the exchange of child sexual abuse material as well as servicing crime by hosting sellers of illegal commodities such as weapons, passport and identity documents, counterfeit and cloned credit cards, hacking services, and close to 210 sellers of drugs. According to them, it was operating from the Italian region of Campania thus probably facilitating also Camorra illegal ops. News outlets here in Italy reporting from police sources said that it was "a community that numbered 14 thousand officially registered members, 170 thousand participants in total, 12 hidden services accessible only inside the Tor network and seized 11 thousand cryptocurrencies' wallets containing an unspecified amount of BTC."
I don't think they could publish further details to avoid damage to legal proceedings & trial.

Police Return Funds Seized from Bitcoin Trader

A bitcoin trader in Scotland has had thousands of pounds returned to him after they were seized by police during a money laundering investigation in May.

According to Herald Scotland, Max Flores' money was returned to him last month, following his solicitor's appeal.

The trader – who is unsure as to whether the seizure will have a negative effect on his credit rating – estimates he lost approximately £1,200 of his original £5,500 in legal fees.

Bitcoin Exchange Igot Challenges Scam Allegations

Quote
The founder of Australia-based bitcoin exchange igot has refuted claims his business is a scam.

Igot recently came under fire, with many of its users complaining about delays to their withdrawals, branding the company “untrustworthy” and claiming they'd been robbed.

Rick Day, igot's founder told CoinDesk the delays particularly affected fiat withdrawals, attributing them to a number of factors.

The official language of the Philippines is English. It has several pigin languages and many more dialects. They don't need their own section.
Our official language in Philippines is Filipino ..
We just use English to communicate in other country.. and also this is english forum..
im favor with this because not all Pinoy can understand english well..
we will be more happy if we can have  our own section ..
so that can we guide all Pinoy who want to know more about bitcoin in our language..
that will be easy for them to understand..

Philippines' official languages: Filipino (official; based on Tagalog) and English (official) (The World Factbook, Languages of the Philippines, etc).

You may use what language you like...but your government says it deal with both Filipino and English languages.

Bitcoin Businesses Push for Relaxed Startup Rules in California

Quote
A group of bitcoin businesses have drafted a letter to members of California's Senate Banking and Financial Institutions Committee following the state's most recent update of its proposed regulation for bitcoin and digital currencies.

Signed by BitGo, Bitnet, Blockstream, Chain, Gem, Mirror and Xapo, the letter praises the Senate for its most recent changes to AB 1326, particularly its elimination of certain redundant licensing and modification of its definition of "virtual currency business".

Perhaps most notably, however, the startups called on California to go a step further before the regulation is ultimately passed by updating certain language and removing additional burdens from early-stage industry startups.

Wedbush Report Projects $400 Bitcoin Price By 2016

Quote
The price of bitcoin can be expected to rise to $400 over the next 12 months, according to a new report by Wedbush Securities.

Authored by Gil Luria and Aaron Turner, the report begins with the goal of forecasting the future value of shares in the Bitcoin Investment Trust (GBTC), the first publicly traded bitcoin fund launched in March, ultimately concluding it will outperform its current $30.60 price to rise to $40 next year.

In its calculations, however, Wedbush expands on its approach to valuing bitcoin based on its expected penetration of large target markets. The bitcoin payments network, it suggests, could end up powering 10% of online payments and 20% of global remittances by 2025.

Forse se si guardano bene i feedback lasciati (sopratutto le date) allo scammer si vedrebbe che prima dello scam erano solo positivi. 4.6BTC sono sicuramente tanti ma gli ASIC costano parecchio.

31  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is India really a regional power? on: July 09, 2015, 08:48:28 AM
Guys you need to realize UNSC permanent seats are not for regional powers, but for great powers. India is not a sovereign state that is recognized as having the ability to exert its influence on a global scale; so, India is not a great power thus actually she doesn't deserve a permanent seat into the UNSC.
32  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is India really a regional power? on: July 09, 2015, 07:31:58 AM
According to a report published in the Toronto Star, 70% of Indians live in villages, and they do not have access to basic utilities, and they are dependent on manual labor. On the other hand, India is one of the biggest importer of military weapons. India is also demanding a permanent seat in UN Security Council with all the power given to the permanent members. With these socioeconomic indexes, does India really deserve such a status in the wold body?

That's similar to China... If China has a seat in the SC then India should get one.
=snip=

What about Australia, Canada and Germany, don't they deserve permanent seat in the SC?

China, People Republic aside all UNSC members with a permanent seat got their status as the winners of WWII and founders of the UN. The PRC got her UNSC permanent seat as "successor" of the Nationalist China whose government was exiled on the Taiwan island after the communist takeover of mainland China.
I laugh loudly at all the countries - like India, Japan, Germany, Brazil, etc. - asking for a free great power status without paying the price associated with it!
The best & most sensible proposal to reform the UNSC was the one proposed by Italy in 1994. Otherwise, we are struck with the status quo and the one wishing to have a great power status with veto power must change it as usual, by winning a systemic war between old & new international powers. Anyone could see that the latter choice is worst than the former.

Blockchain Offers Users First Look at New Bitcoin Wallet

Quote
Blockchain has launched an alpha version of its latest bitcoin wallet.

The launch precedes a formal debut that is likely to be the bitcoin wallet and block explorer provider's biggest announcement since it raised a then-record $30.5m Series A in October 2014. Blockchain's wallet has been downloaded nearly 3.8 million times since launch in 2011, according to its own statistics.

Following its most recent fundraising, Blockchain has been relatively quiet with new announcements, experiencing heavy user backlash amid security issues in December as well as an under-the-radar CEO change.

Event Challenges Lack of Bitcoin Awareness in Post-Gox Japan

Quote
Despite the dramatic and prolonged demise of Mt Gox, digital currencies are still relatively unknown in the bitcoin exchange's birthplace, Japan.

This week, one of the country's pioneering VC firms aims to change that, with a Tokyo event gathering the sector's brightest minds to discuss how businesses can harness the emerging technology.

Over 400 attendees arrived in the Toranomon Hills skyscraper yesterday for a day of demos, briefings and Q&A sessions led by Digital Garage co-founder and MIT Media Lab director Joichi Ito.

Since roads are public owned while having to pay for a space (on it) to a private individual or company? Also...since private individuals are profiteering from a public goods they should compensate the public for the loss.

BitX Launches Bitcoin Services in Nigeria

Quote
BitX has launched services in Nigeria, a move that will enable local users to access the company's bitcoin wallet, exchange and API services.

The announcement comes roughly six months after the emerging markets-focused bitcoin services provider launched in Indonesia. Both countries had been on BitX's list of planned markets since April 2014.

BitX CEO Marcus Swanepoel expressed his optimism that Nigeria would soon become one of the company's leading markets due to its "fast-growing" and "highly entrepreneurial economy".
