21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 02, 2018, 03:57:58 PM
Monero is a very cool and pretty stable coin that is known for almost everybody who is dealing with the cryptocurrency. I feel sorry that it is not more in top-10.

almost there again though :-)
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: July 31, 2018, 01:32:10 PM
You really believe criminals would even consider Monero when it has been demonstrated to be highly traceable and insecure for almost its entire existence? That is a really bad track-record and not a risk any semi-intelligent criminal would be willing to take.
Just because some of those issues have partially been resolved does not make this history go away.

lolz, your whole posting history is one big embarassment:

Monero can expect another huge dump i guess now that full privacy is available for Bitcoin.

https://www.coindesk.com/privacy-bitcoin-wallets/

LOL

There is almost no doubt that Monero's price will increase. Of course not investment advice. But I believe that XMR is a strong project. I think it was a project that could be invested much earlier.

I don't think that's a likely scenario.
The MoneroV fork will break Monero's single selling point, solid privacy.
If it can no longer offer that, its value vaporizes into thin air.

LOOOOOL, almost nobody fell for that obvious scam because it's been called out en masse by the xmr-community... Also, solutions were developed to claim coins safely, because this project has some actual devs and cryptographers working on it...

I've said it a hundred times before.
Once again you all fell for the bull trap.
Resistance has been broken again and today we've seen a drop even harder than the past weeks.

Target level for this week looks to be around 3000-3500 USD.

rest my case, you're an idiot troll...

bye

if monero will be banned in all exchanges (because of regulation)
in that situation will monero die? or As long as it can be mined, stored it will not die?
Define "die".
I guess cryptocurrency die when it's development has stopped and there is noone using that currency. And I really doubt this could be the case in Monero, it will probably be used all the time. At least until it will hold n.1 (I think it does now) position among private cryptocurrencies. I think a cryptocurrency just needs one "exchange" where you can buy it for FIAT. This can also be a forum or any other type of communication channel where people who are interested in buying/selling crypto.
Similar website as LocalBitcoins - https://localmonero.co (just made for Monero, obviously).

I would say Bitcoin was dead before Hal Finney started using it. So when only Satoshi was all alone. As soon there are two people using a decentralized crypto currency it is alive.

Price wise any baning will just publicly expose Monero and price would and probably will increase.

agreed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effect

a global worldwide ban on something has never occurred before I think
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What happened to DASH on: July 12, 2018, 08:42:56 AM
treasury voting and governance. Most coins dream of having a budget to fund developers with. Dash has this and much more.

Never underestimate a cryptocurrency that can self-fund and self-govern itself and has a clear vision
about its on-chain scalability and mass adoption.

You guys sure?

https://www.dashcentral.org/p/CORETEAMTAXES0818

seems like your treasury and funding system was based on the premise of ever rising prices... Now the prices is going down problems arise, what happens if Dash does another -50%?

25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What happened to DASH on: July 10, 2018, 11:21:08 AM
Now is not a sinking ship, it has Always been a sinking ship.

they just dust it up a little bit last year, started advertising it, started attacking bitcoin and a lot of other social engineering to fool the masses of newbies into investing in it while they pumped it by pouring money into it.

obviously when there is this much hype + price rise people start paying attention to it. but the problem is that you can't keep an illusion alive forever.

Agreed, Dash has always been pure hype and marketing... Now they have to start defunding projects because their 'treasury-system' was based on the premise of always rising prices... Because the bullmarket litterally sprayed them with money they have created a bloathed bureaucracy and scope-creep makes them postpone and postpone evolution...

I fear dash is suffering from https://www.investopedia.com/terms/r/ratchet-effect.asp

26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XVG] Verge - Speculation & Discussion on: July 09, 2018, 01:13:22 PM
if you bought XVG because you believe in the project, hold it and don't sell it, let it grow. I see a great potential in it, because I'm sure that anonymous coins will be actively developed in the crypto society.

Too bad Verge isn't an anonymous cryptocurrency Wink

compared to most it can serve better as an anonymous coin, yes. Its no monero, but still. Then again, I don't know of any significant advantage the coin brings other than that.

It simply is not anonymous. If you check rich list you will see wallets with verge on it.  I dotn understand how hard for some is to gasp that Verge shills fulled you all abut this.   Verge is just another bitcoin clone. Zero innovations.  Marketing and lies.

Maybe youre right, i’m not familiair with the technical aspect of it. Tell me, what features does it have that can serve in the concept of anonymous transactions?

Well, it has a botched implementation of stealth-addresses which is called VVraith-protocol in Verge because they want to confuse people. A good explanation of stealth addresses you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWst278J8NA
Basically it helps to hide the receiver...

stealth addresses alone aren't nearly enough to claim you have an 'anonymous' cryptocurrency though... So they're basically lying to their users...

best regards,

Never say never,

but it won't be based on fundamentals, XVG is one of the shittiest of shitcoins... It's just a bitcoin-fork that pretends to be anonymous while it's not, its blockchain got hacked 2 times with the same bug, it has only one (incompetent) dev...

it's pure crap... but, never say never, cryptomarkets can be more irrational than anyone can ever imagine...

28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: July 09, 2018, 12:27:27 PM
This sheet is about xmr emission. It seems to be quite aqqurate.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qXi7zUSIh7F6UuSuhOryyFbHEy_LJuym3I3neAga_2s/edit#gid=239466694

On about 26.7.2019 xmr emission will go below btc emission. What do you think will happen to xmr price on those times?

Anyway what is that "daily inflation crossover date" on 10.8.2019?

Daily xmr-inflation < daily btc-inflation

That happens allready 26.7.2019. So what is that 10.8.2019 then?

Sorry, I don't follow, when I look at the spreadsheet I see:

- on 26.7.2019: daily btc inflation = 0.01028%, daily xmr inflation = 0.01049%
it only crosses on 10.8.2019 when
- daily btc inflation = 0.010264% and daily xmr inflation = 0.010262%

am I looking at that spreadsheet wrong?

best regards

This will be a discussion thread about Verge Currency. [1]

We will be using Smooth's Monero Speculation rules for thread moderation. [2] (insert "Verge" where you see "Monero").

Enjoy.

Verge have huge potential, because team working with new partner s,

Nope, Verge was and is still one of the shittiest of shitcoins... Says it's anonymous, while it's obviously not, blockchain being hacked 2 times with the same bug, promising things that don't arrive etc...

it has nog potential outside of enriching p&d-groups...

31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XVG] Verge - Speculation & Discussion on: June 28, 2018, 09:05:56 PM
The repeated 51% exploit attacks are not doing this coin any favor and shining a not so positive light on devs.  As of now, what this coin is supposed to be and actually is, is like residing on two opposite ends of the spectrum.

The tech is still young, give it time. Its not meant to be perfect now, all it needs to do is keeping getting better and safer. In 2 years these attacks will have been forgotten, its not like ethereum and such were perfect from the start

in 2 years hopefully the farce that was verge will have died but never will be forgotten. XVG offers nothing, it's bitcoin behind tor, Wrait protocol is just a botched implementation of stealth addresses which aren't nearly enough to offer privacy/anonimity. Verge is based on lies and gullible noobs who throw money at cheap marketing practices... Even after the totally incompetent dev failed to fix the same bug 2 times you people keep 'believing'... Lessons can be learned here, do your own research, don't faill for cheap marketing!

open your eyes, verge is a total scam and their single dev is totally incompetent...

it's on its way to 0

Very interesting gentle but strong rise.

Insider info on something?  Some rumor I've not heard?

Have you heard the "Monero is awesome" rumour? been around a few years

So why the price dropped in the last few months? I agree the general trend is up.

I'm starting to become more and more convinced that this analysis might hold (some) truth:

I'm watching Ivan on Tech's interview with Fluffy Pony https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqhRZfKRriU and the interview is interesting sure, but I noticed something much more interesting. You can see the comments rolling in on the right side the same way they came in when the show was live, and I must say almost everyone is very positive. It's the first time I have been able to put a finger on the pulse of a random sampling of the wider crypto currency comminity with regards to their feelings about monero and they seem to have mostly very positive perceptions. It's worth a look if you have the time.

That's prolly cos the devs are doing a good job in trying to build an actual cryptocurrency.  And some of it is cos of Fluffy having more exposure than before.  Tbh, I didn't think much of XMR back in 2014 - 2015 (I wasn't paying attention, yeah, but I was trading in and out of it).  But if I've seen or watched a good interview of Fluffy, I might have started hodling then (which I do now).

The first interview I've watched with him on was with DeRose and Unseth at BU.  Fluffy owned both of them which was haylarious.  Cheesy

this one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UERfcZgdF_Q

In the absence of @aminorex these days, I nominate @Febo as our cheerleader-in-chief.

He's doing a great job of keeping our spirits up, our eyes on the prize, and our skin in the game.

Thanks @Febo

Agreed, here and on reddit his words give courage and consolation....

thanks!
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Network Attack on XVG / VERGE on: May 22, 2018, 09:40:46 AM
Since nothing really was done about the previous attacks (only a band-aid), the attackers now simply use two algos to fork the chain for their own use and are gaining millions:

Both algos, scrypt and lyra2re can be rented easily for a few bucks at nicehash, they simply send one block scrypt, after that a block lyra2re and so on and all with manipulated timestamps thus lowering diff to lowest possible mining several blocks per minute like this

Well, it's perhaps my Dutch nature thinking this, but this hack ain't for the money. The value of the coin will sink quickly the longer this takes and the damage is huge, so the attacker will have millions of worthless coins soon and is going nowhere. So most of the Verge fan's are right saying that this probably is a act of hate in my opinion. Second, there are people around on the net who can make your life like hell. You don't want to be on their fan list and i guess Justin unfortunately is.

@ocminer, it seems like you are a gifted person. Can you help Justin out to get this fixed the proper way then please and offer him some solutions in private perhaps?

I wish Justen and the Verge team the best of luck next hours/days.

Stop being so ignorant. Verge is being targeted because it has shitty coding and an incompetent developer. This hack is the result of the terrible job he did 'patching' the previous hack.

Hold on here. If i leave my bike without lock, it doesn't give someone the right to steal it. The same applies here.

This is an act of hate, destroying the coin and it is irreversible.

It's still stupid to leave your bike without a lock in a place where you know lots of 'bad' people are walking around (the internet). It's plain stupid to sell your bike as the best investment to hundreds or even thousands of people buying shares and then leaving it without a lock. That's just plain irresponsible...

Banks get robbed, blockchains get attacked... If you're not deadserious about security here and expect others to just play nice, then you shouldn't be here at all...

best regards
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XMV] MoneroV - Fork 1:10 of Monero - Finite coin supply - Private on: February 19, 2018, 01:32:10 PM
Hi,

this article describes very well that:

  • moneroV is forking in a way that is harmful for privacy, so the dev's claims that they want to further privacy in crypto is a false claim, since they don't seem to care about the fact that the way they implement it is possibly privacy-harmful for BOTH chains
  • The 'monero-infinite-supply'-argument is actually a false argument contra monero. In 2021 the tail emission kicks in for monero, that is an inflation of about 0.8% per year, which is perfectly fine and gives incentive to the miners
  • The moneroV-devs don't want to answer any questions, don't want to 'fix' things which makes it obvious that for them this is just a total moneygrab

full article and definitely worth a read!

Stay safe out there, noone should ask you to give up your private keys!

Who else is starting to feel like we may finish this year at ~$200 USD?

ah good ol' desperation, we must be gettin' close now
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which privacy centric coins will make it? on: January 25, 2018, 09:55:53 AM
Couple that with default stealth addresses and stealth staking to come in Q2 of this year, and you've got a speculative winner.

Ya, got any proof for that, like a white paper?

39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which coins are really privacy and anonymous? on: January 22, 2018, 12:30:32 AM
If you evaluate a coin by subjective trust to people, rather than by objective technical characteristics, then only very stupid people will listen to you KimJungUn. Stop wasting our time.

Lol, says the one trusting persons to create an anonymous coin without any white paper or technical details whatsoever... up until now XPSEC is still total vapourware...  stop wasting our time
Any scam coin always has white paper, but often does not have an open source code, just think about it  Grin

There is open source code: https://github.com/spectrecoin/spectre
All the general information that is usually found in white paper - there is: https://altcoinwiki.org/en/SpectreCoin
There is an objective technically comparison with a description of the advantages of other coins: https://altcoinwiki.org/en/SpectreCoin#Comparison_with_other_coins

no it's not, stop deflecting, their big gig is anonymous staking, for which they have delivered no proof whatsoever, thus vapourware at the moment... I can only hope they pull it off, but the way they're handling things now, making promises without delivering any proof has me worried, that's all...

anyway, best of luck,
best regards
