21  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: November 23, 2017, 06:35:46 PM
I did pull the trigger and buy some today. I took into consideration the well respected members of the community claiming it is legit. For me personally I wish the power supply was 208 volt. I'm hoping they are able to run on that voltage. I do have some EVGA 220-240 volt PSU's that have been running on 208 for over a year. Only time will tell, but I have a good feeling about this one.

Edit: I don't blame them one bit for not taking PayPal. Everything BTC related that I accepted payment through PayPal I was issued a charge back. Lots of scumbags in this industry you have to be careful.

You can also unplug your miner,
1. hold the ip report button
2. plug in miner
3. hold ip report for 5 seconds

That has worked for me numerous times.

As per bitmain it can't be done via sd card. You'll need a new board.

S9's still in stock, are sales slowing down??

They are only accepting BCC as payment. Not many people mine that compared to BTC
25  Economy / Services / Re: Bounty for Cracking Bitmain S9 BMminer on: September 19, 2017, 05:39:19 PM
I'm all for a alternative to BMiner. Just as long as it is stable and runs correctly. I'm also willing to pay for it.

Hi kano. 1 August with BIP 148, do we have anything to worry about? Us miners in kano? I'm a bit stressed. I've read alot of OPINIONS, and I would rather want to know what you have to say.  Regards!
Ignore BIP148 - it's simply an attempt by a bunch of users to take control of Bitcoin away from miners - mining is the design of Bitcoin and it will stay that way.

I'll sort it out within the next week.
I'll hopefully be able to put the new KDB code live tomorrow, so that will finally be out of the way.

Looks like I'll simply have to accept that Bitcoin mining majority is going to accept some form of SegWit - and make sure when it activates, the pool will work on any and all SegWits that happen to be blundering around ... Tongue

Pretty much every block now has the /NYA/ 'expression of interest' in it and NYA effectively means SegWit also.
Seems Core has managed to con/force everyone into accepting it, pretending it's a block size solution Tongue

Don't forget that if it activates, your 1xxx addresses will cost 4 times as much to use per byte than 3xxx addresses
(yeah they really like their dodgy P2SH addresses and are forcing everyone to risk all their BTC on those dodgy addresses)

Once I've got that all ready I'll post about the details and then switch over the main work generator to using whatever is necessary.

For those of us that run full nodes, is there a certain one you suggest?
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner]- Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 5000 miners on: July 15, 2017, 03:17:05 PM
"Awesome Miner can manage and monitor up to 5000 miners. For these large number of miners an Ultimate Plus license is required. The license is only available from 300 miners and above, and the price of the license is $350 for every 100 miners. VAT will be added for customers in EU and other markets where required."

$800 bucks for the full software license with a limit of 200 miners .... $350 bucks for every 100 miners thats a daylight robbery....

There are many happy customers that use Awesome Miner with 200 miners and more. The software provides much value for these customers as it saves them time, trouble and ensures that their mining operations run smooth with as few interruptions as possible. When having these number of miners, Awesome Miner is really saving money for you.

If you run 200 miners, you have already made a significant investment in your mining operations. If you have 200 Antminer S9 for example, just the hardware and PSU will cost you $1200 per Antminer. That's a total of $240 000. Awesome Miner Ultimate Edition for 200 miners will only cost you $800. That's nothing for the customers running these operations.

Please let me know what kind of mining operations you are running, and I'm sure we will see that Awesome Miner brings value for you at a price that is very small compared to the total investment. Thanks!

Patrike, thanks for all you do. Your software has been worth every penny. And your right I'm running almost 200 S9's and it is a very very small price to pay.

Block by Sierra8561!  This is our 2nd of BLOCK FRIDAY! Cheesy Cheesy

It also happens that I have been on this pool for exactly 1600 blocks now with this one which is a personal milestone Grin

Congrats on being here for 1600 blocks

Is there a way to switch all my bitcoin miners from one pool to another? Or am I stuck doing is one at a time?
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Barry Silbert segwit agreement with >80% miner agreement. on: May 25, 2017, 06:48:23 PM
If segwit is implemented without a blocksize increase. It won't ever happen.
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Barry Silbert segwit agreement with >80% miner agreement. on: May 25, 2017, 06:42:29 PM
so is this ASICBOOST proof then? if so, why did Bitmain agree?

And why was Core not invited?  Huh

Core was invited, they chose not to attend.

I'm 100% certain that only 1 of the 2 of us is all on about Blockstream.  Roll Eyes
I'm 100% certain that you can't hear the facts when you plug your ears like that and look for something mundane like the repetition of a company's name to talk about.

Why not try responding to the points given? Afraid that it'll be uncomfortable to learn how wrong you are?
It's impossible to respond because it's only in your head that what you said has anything to do with what I said.
I said they are getting paid.
You went on about some "conspiracy theory" nonsense.
Frankly, I couldn't care less who is paying them (or even why). The fact is that anyone getting paid any amount to do something gives that person a motivation to keep that something relevant. Specifically, in this case, the fact that Core devs get paid is it's own incentive for Core devs to fight to keep Core going.

You are absolutely right. Loyalty to those who sign your paycheck pays a big role.

Is there some guide what I can manage on my Antminer L3+?
I know I can add it as "External Miner" and see it hashing incl. stats - is it also possible to reboot it remotely or something like that?
This is a very good question, and it would probably be a good idea to document this in a better way.
Antminers typically support all features you see in the user interface in Awesome Miner. You can also do reboot via SSH, but you need to define a custom rule for this.

Go to Options dialog, Rules section, Add a user defined rule. Give the rule a name like "Reboot Antminer". Don't define any triggers, instead you check "Support manual activation". Then you define a single action of type SSH, where you need to specify username and password to your Antminer, and make sure that the command is set to "Reboot system".
Default SSH username/password for Antminers are typically: root/admin

When you save this rule you will find a new button in the toolbar of the main window called Actions. When you add rule with Manual Activation, those rules will be displayed in the Actions menu. Now you have access to a reboot feature for all the Antminers you select.

Hi Patrike, I'm fairly computer illiterate. is it possible to have a antminer automatically reboot if its hash rate drops below a certain level?
Thanks

It looks like the S9's currently for sale are from a previous batch, batch 12.  Does anyone have them?  How is the reliability?

I have a few of the batch 12's no problems at all.

I'm excited to give this a try. Will you pool signal Segwit? BU? or what?
Thanks
38  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: flashing S9 firmware to an SD card on: April 17, 2017, 11:49:39 PM
There isn't a sd card reader behind the slot on a S9. Through me for a loop when I needed the same thing. Ended up having to buy a new board.
39  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 29, 2017, 04:19:20 PM
You are free to run whatever client you wish or support a different chain. Nobody is forcing you to use Core. However, the best and most competent developers contribute  and maintain code to the core client. You are free to open a Git and submit proposals if know of a beneficial feature that is not currently available.

If you do not support segwit, run versions prior to 0.13.1, that is if you run a node.
...
Yes, it is wholly true that if you want to run a Core node, you are free to not support segwit by running an older, less optimized version of Core that is worse for the network as a whole.
Meanwhile in the decentralized world where Bitcoin is supposed to be run by a consensus, if the majority want x in a wallet, then Core devs should put x in the wallet. In the decentralized world where Bitcoin is supposed to be run by a consensus, one shouldn't have to make the choice between a client that is, literally, slower and one that signals something that the majority obviously don't want.

"You are free to open a Git and submit proposals if know of a beneficial feature that is not currently available." Satoshi Nakamoto, himself, could write a BIP that 99% of the community wants and if the devs personally dislike the change, then it's not going into Core.

Why not run a bitcoin unlimited node?

Has anyone tried the firmware from 11-19? I'm giving it a shot on one machine right now. Curious how it is working for others?
