Yeah I'm not spending over 100 to ship it to Hong Kong .

I will pester Yoshi from bitmainwarranty. See what he can do.

No luck with s9 repairs through bitmain warranty, they forwarded my gear to Hong Kong. Hopefully they are able to soon.

WOW!
Looks like the Antminer S9 Batch 11 is sold out ALREADY!
well that was fast...
Pays to check a few times. At 12:09p Eastern I just got confirmation on 2x of the batch-11's Cheesy

I was always planning on the batch 10  so I am happy enough to get it.
I literally flipped a coin to pick b10 or 11. Good bit is that the b11 gives me a touch more range to UC if needed..

And boy howdy! Bitmain's main wallet is smokin' busy now!

That is a lot of ph coming online.

***** WARNING *****

If Bitmain send you a faulty S9  - they will not repair or refund you.

Their Warranty is worth nothing, They will lie to you, ignore you - whatever to avoid replacing faulty goods.

Anyone who wants to join me in a class-action lawsuit - please message me.

I have spent over 20,000 USD with Bitmain - yet they refuse to honor their warranty.

My S9 was DOA - 1 dead board the same day I switched it on. Another board died 60 days later.

Bitmain deserve to go bust. LETS SUE THEM.
JOIN ME IN SUING THEM FOR A FULL REFUND

No offense to what you are trying to do. But my experience's have been different. A little slow but they have never denied me a warranty issue.
Sorry to hear you are having trouble getting them to warranty your board. What are they telling you?

Ouch, over 700% network block now after the diff increase...  Fun fun fun?  Huh

Difficulty goes up, coin price continues to drizzle downward slowly.  Angry Angry

big boys are pushing out the s7's, a6's. Home miners with higher power costs can't really compete under these conditions.
168  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 15, 2016, 09:50:21 PM
What is the standard hashrate for an S9 batch 3? 12,93TH or 11,85TH?

Thinking of buying I used one, but need to be sure of the facts. (just to slam the owner, he says its 14TH+)

Pretty sure it's 11.85

It was a 12.93, good luck running it at that all mine are down clocked to 11.85 way to hot and had hash board problems. after the down clock they've run great.
169  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 15, 2016, 06:29:08 PM
I tried updating my B3 S9 with this firmware (the latest matching one for my unit):

Antminer-S9-201607131442-12.92T-600M-security.tar.gz

Unfortunately it has not come back after rebooting.

Note that I did this remotely because the unit is in a data center. I can power cycle it via the PDU, but I'm a bit scared to do that given all the warnings about not losing power while upgrading.

I guess I'll wait 10 minutes, pray, then power cycle it. Crap...

Well that was weird. It *did* boot after all, but it came up with a different IP address.

I'm using DHCP to assign a static address via MAC address. The MAC address changed after the firmware update.

WTF?

Anyway, I'm glad I checked the firewall for new dynamic DHCP addresses. Saved me a trip to colo.

Same happened to me.

You are going to see a bunch of s7's & A6's dropping off due to price and difficulty. Unfortunately with bitmain releasing more s9's tomorrow that will rapidly pickup the slack.

I have tried it and so far so good. I think they must have a surge of lenders. It's been tough loaning my btc. but the transactions have been instant payment to my paypal account.

two s9's running hot (71c) 12.85 version at 600mhz
Clocked down to 593mhz they run cooler AND faster! WTF

You will find that most miners have a "sweet spot". very few of mine are running at stock settings. I've even overclocked one that ran at the same speed and temperature dropped dramatically.
173  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: August 12, 2016, 05:42:03 PM
Does the unit need to see FAN RPMS from 2 fans?

yes..

there is a one fan rom.. but im not 100% sure you can flash it on regular s7s or not.

im sure someone has tried so they can chime in saying if it worked or not.

Thanks for the super quick reply! Sooo, if I plug in a bunch of old S3 fans perse, and it recognizes RPMs, you think that would successfully trick it?

I've done it and it works fine. But still attempt at your own risk!
174  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 11, 2016, 07:56:11 PM
Since the halving these things are not earning very much at all.  I have 2 of them, one of them I got at under 3 BTC with a couple weeks to mine before the halving, and it still looks like it is going to be a long, long time before these ROI and that's without any electricity costs.  I have one underclocked and the other setup to underclock for 6 hours a day and then do stock clock for the other 18 hours.  Based on what others have said about failure rates this looks like a bigger gamble than I had anticipated.

And what really sucks is that it comes on the heels of S7's that still haven't hit ROI with free electricity and decent resale price on two of them.  In about 2 months I should hit an overall break-even on the S7's since I still have an early batch unit mining at an average 5.02 Th/s but if not for the resale prices those things would have been a loss for sure.  Wondering if the S9's might be better sold at this point rather than gamble on them lasting long enough to get my BTC back.

you should check out zpool.. it pays out almost as much as prehalving bitcoin.. its also not effected by bitcoin difficulty..

According to the zpool site it returns 0.0018 per THs. Not clear if that's before or after the 2% fee.

That's a 45% increase over straight BTC mining with a 2% fee and 100% luck.

Are you mining there and really seeing these numbers?

yes, its kind of picky about how you setup your miners tho.. check the zpool thread in the mining altcoin section.

i have 2 s7s, underclocked to 525 @ 3500 ghs (7000 ghs total) and i make around .01 to .012 a day in bitcoin.
keep in mind that value fluctuates on current market price of the coins being mined.. you can check the daily running stats on https://poolpicker.eu/table?algo=sha-256

Thanks for getting back to me. That's very interesting.

But you're not running any S9's against zpool. I seem to remember someone indicating earlier in this thread that S9s did not work well with alts. Not sure if I'm misremembering or not.

And of course since Bitmain hasn't provided the sources to their modified miner, it can't be reviewed.

Anyone out there using S9s successfully with zpool?

I just attempted to with one of my S9's it didn't work for me.

I'm very curious to know the answer to this.

WOwow....  your are very lucky indeed...  I think owner must have given you some extra hash for being a good repeat customer. I got to know many experienced miners through MRR while renting their rigs. Also, I get advise which ones are good deals and which ones are BAD deals (esp. that dotinfo dude).

Yes, I don't do business with them anymore, poor speed, poor service, won't comp for down-time. I even wrote them a nice long communication explaining why they sucked and I would no longer be a customer, LOL

I also do a lot of my renting with The Dreamer. Good service and always comps when things go wrong. (I've got some of his rented hash on the pool right now. Along with that "magic" 100TH rig (Which shall remain nameless. Smiley )

Let's get some BLOCKSSSSS Rolling in! Block Thursday, Come On Down!

Cheesy Grin Smiley Cheesy Grin Wink Cheesy Smiley Grin

How do you rent from the dreamer?

*** This is a courtesy block safety warning from your local madman. This is only a warning. ***
We've got a big, fat red block that may break anytime now. Once the block breaks, all residents down-stream are urged to seek higher ground as the flow of blocks may rise sharply in a short period of time.
*** This has been a block-safety warning from your local madman. You may return to your normal activities... ***

 Grin Grin Grin

Going to be one hefty payout. I'm excited.

i try out this pool with some miners. so right now i am not disapointed.

This pool isn't for those who want to mine here for a few hours even 1 or 2 days.
179  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 10, 2016, 04:44:36 PM
I am hoping that the fact Bitmain have gone quiet with releasing batches of the S9. That they have taken it back to the drawing board to find out why they are so unreliable.

Its a nice thought anyway

no they are simply replacing the S7's in their farm with S9's and sending bulk orders to other china farms

Judging by the increased hash rate, I think you are right.
180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Bitfinex Hacked] So , learned the lesson ? on: August 09, 2016, 07:23:18 PM
I think the solution could be to have all incoming and outgoing transfers require 200 confirmations. That would give everyone time to stop the hack, once unusual activity is detected.
I don't think so, maybe you're wrong about that. you can try to send your amount to any address but after you sending your amount and not getting a confirmed maybe your amount is already disappearing and stay in the half of the road. and waiting for the confirmation and finishing into receiver address but the transaction system like an escrow.

Then have bitfinex put a 48 hour hold before processing any incoming or outgoing transaction.
