21  Other / Off-topic / Re: Before you start gambling, do some research first on: February 23, 2024, 11:12:32 PM
This is a little on the nose and sometimes even a little unnecessary. The thing is that people know that researches are a good thing and are a must every time they venture out into uncharted territories that teaching or telling them that they should do so feels a little too redundant at this point. Pretty sure that those who are willing to really go the extra mile and be safe while they venture out in either investing or gambling are already doing it the first time they got told to research, and for the rest of the population who didn't, they either didn't need to or want to, either way telling them to do so is a major waste of effort and time.

Instead, tell people about more worthwhile must-know topics like perhaps how to manage their bankroll, how to min-max their wins and losses to favor them in the long run, instead of just telling them to research shit without even guiding them what to research about.
22  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why mega threads always be kept open on: February 23, 2024, 10:03:10 PM
Mega threads kept open for long time, in this gambling discussion and the main gambling section I do see a thread that from the first to ten pages all the discussion answers has been given but that thread continues moving whereas all the questions been asked in the thread majority has answered it, why mega thread in gambling section, when you calm down and read some of the trading style or method you can see that some points made us is not longer in line with the aim of the thread.

Some of our discussions and points in mega thread is pointless, does it not good to have a limitations of pages in a thread and immediately the thread get to its limit page it can be lock, so that everyone have it in mind, instead of spamming and be writing in some of the thread that is up to twenty to thirty [20-30] pages, [Observation] Their is some certain things that is not suppose to discuss in thread because people have already said those points,  but base on the thread is still on and they continue to spam, some persons discussed in one thread more than five times both knowingly and unknowingly, so it's good for we to abolish some mega threads depends on the subject.
Good question, but the thing is that it's better to have these mega-threads around and not need them than actually not have a well-established thread when we need one. Besides, the mega-threads made by most of the folks here especially for dedicated sports fans are doing their job of making sure there's no clutter of posts from other enthusiasts who wanted to talk about their sports/topic. So yeah, mega-threads will remain open until we no longer find a need for them to be.

Plus we also have to consider the fact that most of these mega-threads are self-moderated, meaning the OP got full-on liberty to whatever they wanted to do with the thread, for most of them they'd rather keep it up and moderate the thread on their own than stop the flow of conversation for the sake of "giving space to even more worthwhile topics"
23  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A famous influencer lost more than $4000 in just 2 minutes. (2) on: February 22, 2024, 10:23:14 PM
*I created this topic on the other forum just recently and I would also like to share it here so we can exchange ideas based on your own opinion.

I saw this video on social media just recently wherein a famous local influencer here in my country loses more than $4,000 dollars in just 2 minutes.

Video link: https://www.facebook.com/100063918190580/videos/1064447011428446/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v

Even with a rich guy gambling, still has this regret he just made, so how much more for an average guy to take the risk of spending his hard earned money just to gamble?

Have you experienced this kind of situation wherein you spend huge amount of money and then regret after the loss? Is your reaction the same with that guy on the video?
I see an uncanny trend amongst these "famous" streamers. They'd be well-known for being very good at one thing (Yassuo's really great at playing videogames, TrainwrecksTV's kinda good at giving commentary, Akosi Dogie's great at that trash game called Mobile Legends), and soon as their limelights dim down they resort to becoming lapdog sponsor receivers of these casinos. I mean there's no denying that they probably already made a lot of money playing these games and garnering fans for that matter but to see them slowly delve into insanity, obscurity, and utter desperation over time is a little sad.

The guy's well known not only for playing the game and inventing strats that became meta-defining, he's also been known to make snide remarks and hot opinions which are often wrong, on certain topics involving gaming. Would've really been great if he stuck to that same formula and remained true to what he's been known for but I guess we gotta get that bag every now and again, even if it means throwing away our principles.
24  Other / Off-topic / Re: Know when to stop on: February 16, 2024, 10:35:05 PM
Just as the old chinese adage goes, too much of something is bad, regardless of how "good" it is. This is exceptionally true for gambling, which in itself when done in moderation is already touted as excessive and exploitative by many outside the industry. Knowing how to control your urges at the very least sets you up for a massive success when you're gambling, as it allows you to remain level-headed in the most stressful situations, and create strategies and plans that would allow you to maximize either your winnings, or minimize the losses you would incur, and ultimately ensure that you're not falling off the deep-end and subjecting yourself to revenge gambling and gambling addiction for that matter.

Knowing when to stop and setting limits upon yourself isn't a sign of being a pussy or whatever (although honestly I wouldn't care if I get called a pussy), it's a sign of being smart and responsible so by all means, learn how to control yourself.
25  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most challenges faced by gamblers on online casino platforms? on: February 15, 2024, 11:52:33 PM
Most of the issues I have with casinos of recency are how fucking assertive they've become with forcing gamblers to deposit money in their gambling accounts. It's not like they'll lose access to these wallets anyway cause as far as I know crypto wallets are immutable and would remain existent regardless if it has crypto in it or not. But the way these casinos just force their users into depositing money by means of including it in the sign-up process is quite an audacious move if I do say so myself.

I wanna have those old casinos which are just chill and are more honest when it comes to taking care of their gamblers. Those who don't force you into depositing money from the get-go and are okay with you not depositing money for months on end cause sometimes it's just that slow and it's not like you're gambling everyday.
26  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you quit gambling for a friend? on: February 15, 2024, 11:29:16 PM
So I heard a story of some acquaintances that in their friend group, some person really got addicted recently.
At first it was just fun and game, they would sit together and play some slots together in a big screen with some 10€ or so for as much as this would last them with small stake spins. And this is something they would do on big occasions. Only when together as a group and only for big days like birthday parties etc.

But the thing is, unbeknownst to them, one person in their friend group was really compulsive. So in the course of a few months, he became really addicted. He would spend much of his own money from his salary on slots and sports betting, eventually losing most of it regularly every month. Then on nearly every get together he would ask his friends to chip in so they can play slots this time in his account. Every time asking for more significant amounts too.

This guy hasn't caused any trouble to his friends but it's a worrying situation to see him waste most of his salary every month... So now the other guys were contemplating to quit their poker playing hobby because it was really affecting their friend negatively. And they had a somewhat regular get-together to play poker with very small stakes just for the fun of it. It's a petty that they might have to abandon their poker games but to them it's either that or abandoning their friend and worsening his compulsion.

Would you do the same for a friend? Me personally I think I would have just confronted such a friend and told them to seek help instead of me altering my lifestyle for his benefit. If they didn't seek help to the point that it was affecting me I would've just stopped hanging out with them silently I think. A friend would've had to be a real good one to make an exception at least.
Personally wouldn't sacrifice my indulgence and hobby (at this point since it's become a weekly get-together rendezvous for you guys to gamble even against each other) for the sake of someone whose urges he can't control. I'd do my best to help him in my own way though, like talking it out to him and making him realize that he's got a problem he needs to fix before he ruins his life one way or another. I wouldn't go so far as to quit just to urge this guy to quit as well but if the whole friend group's in on it I might back out of gambling out of peer pressure.

Call me evil or whatever but the thing is no amount of quitting for yourself's gonna stop a friend that's already a foot deep into the gambling grave. Most of the time issues like these are personal and therefore require little outside intervention, so my quitting wouldn't really help him whatsoever in the grand scheme of things.
27  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do i handle my first gambling experience on: February 15, 2024, 11:08:15 PM
Hello senior citizens and my fellow newbies gambler's, now I gat a straight forward question for you all.
How do I prepare myself for my first gambling experience?
What are the things I should expect as a first time gambler?
How do we react to my first gambling results be it winning or lose?
Thank you all for your helpful opinions.
Not a Senior Citizen but I reckon I could give you some valuable nuggets of knowledge you can use as a first time gambler.

1. Most of the preparation that you will have when you first gamble, is going to be mental and emotional in aspect. After all, losses are natural and honestly expected when you gamble. It's all about knowing how to control your urges to take the losses back and chasing wins that sets a stupid gambler from one who is more adept at what he does. You also need to prepare just enough money/bankroll when you gamble. Not preparing one is a big mistake as you won't notice just how much you're burning through your finances when you don't have a visual cue of how much you're spending when you gamble or lose.

2. Losses, that's the only thing you should expect.

3. I don't really care for how you react when you win or lose. You can be happy when you win or the saddest mofo on the planet when you lose but don't let these emotions control how you play your games. The moment you let the emotions get the better of you's the time you're bound for gambling addiction galore.

Hope these helped.
28  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling for fun vs gambling for the financial benefit. on: February 15, 2024, 10:43:00 PM
I have read a lot of thread on this board talking about the need to gamble responsibly and suggesting that gambling is meant to be done for fun and not to be seen as a means of livelihood. While this is theoretically alright, in the reality so many persons actually gamble because they want to get some financial top up from the gamble.

What is mostly common in my neighborhood and that I mostly do is soccer betting and if I am not exaggerating, 90% of the people that do soccer betting do do because they want to win money.

They can watch the match for fun but as long as it involved them paying money before gambling, most persons don't normally see it as fun and this is the reason why after placing a particular bet, if the game isn't successful they continue betting hoping to get a win along the way thervy being seen as addict.

Do you really see gambling as more of fun than a means to a financial end?

how much can you put into gambling before it removes the fun aspect of gambling out of it?
The thing is that getting money while you're gambling is definitely a good thing, but it's not where you can solely find fun and entertainment when you gamble. Gambling for entertainment being one of the biggest ways for us to really have fun even when we're losing money. We do this by hardwiring our brain into looking into other avenues/aspects in the world of gambling that we deem entertaining or fun to say the least. I personally find entertainment when I make risky but calculated bets, the adrenaline rush of having to put down ludicrous amounts of money is what gets me going when I gamble now compared to chasing impossible wins when I'm still starting as a young gambler.

Thus far, compared to when I was chasing wins I have a relatively slower rate at which I burn through my bankroll, clearly indicating that even if you're gambling for the adrenaline rush and the high you're still better off as compared to if you're gambling for profit.

30  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Taking a break in gambling on: February 09, 2024, 11:00:42 PM
I prepare for when I want to take a break. Most of the time there's this nagging feeling of just wanting to take a break but not really having enough heart and willpower to do it. But when the stars align and I find myself wanting to take a breather away from the world of gambling I go for it and formulate a couple things before I bite the bullet. First, I make sure that I will definitely take the breather for the specific timeframe that I provide myself with. Let's say I got an out-of-town vacation trip planned for two weeks and I take the timeframe as a solid schedule to align my gambling breaks with, I make sure first and foremost that I don't gamble at all during those times. Second, I slate something to do while I'm not gambling for that particular schedule. Could be some other game, a date, or whatever that would take my mind off of gambling for the meantime. Soon as these are all taken care of. Only then will I start to really take the break.

Not doing this out of some ritual or whatever. It's just that sometimes I find myself going back to gambling even when I say I'm gonna take a break for that particular timeframe.
31  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This was my highest risk. on: February 09, 2024, 08:55:05 PM

I just want to share this with my fellow bettors.
Have you ever taken such a huge risk on gambling before?
Yesterday I experienced what I have never experienced before but I am very much happier because my risk wasn't in vain.

A friend of mine sold her bet to me 20k Nigerian naira and I bought it because there was a cash-out on the bet, and the cash out was 20k Nigerian naira.
Besides, the games are 21 in total and 19 out of the games have entered so the games was remaining just 2 and that was why I bought the bet with a whole 20k Nigerian naira.

This is the highest risk I have ever taken on gamble.  :)Why I called this the highest risk was because if the remaining 2 games lose I will be the loser and not my friend, so that risk was very terrible but I just have to take the risk because I already have in mind that you can not win if you do not risk. But to cut long story short, I win the bet, this was like sharing the money equally with my friend.
So have you ever taken such a risk on gambe before?
I wouldn't take this and have never taken such a ludicrous risk as buying someone else's position on a game that I wanted to bet on anyway. You do realize that if you've been there when the bets are being tallied you could've saved so much money and still earn arguably even more money in the process without paying so much money as what you did right now. Good on you for not losing it all but 9 times out of 10 this wouldn't be the case, trust me, and you just got so lucky today.

I'd never go so far as to become stupid for gambling to the point that I'm buying someone else's bets in hopes of winning whatever they could. It's like an investor paying/funding a business that doesn't even exist yet in hopes of earning money in the process. It's not gonna happen. Call me condescending or cynical but it's just not for me, and I think a good amount of people in this forum would agree with me as well.
32  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there play and pay later casinos? on: February 09, 2024, 08:13:29 PM
Probably none as this is detrimental to business-owners who depend upon the propensity of their users to pay for their items and services upfront. And even if this shit is to be true or if casinos soon offer this capability I don't think it's gonna stay up in the market for long. There's a good chance that this feature so to speak would be sacked soon enough as gamblers fail to uphold their promises to pay and just run away from the casino's sight soon as they get the chance to earn the money. And no, administering KYC isn't going to stop this unless you're determined to chase someone within the ends of the world all for a loan they failed to pay.

It's also worth noting that there will be prerequisites to meet in order for the casino to achieve the guarantee and peace of mind that they will have the money they loaned out to users, which would take tons and tons of paperwork that the user might as well just gamble with their own money, and they have to by the by.
33  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do coaches get sacked over poor performance of players? on: February 09, 2024, 07:44:20 PM
I have followed various sporting activities and I noticed something that hardly make complete sense to me and that is the rationale behind firing a coach when the players do perform poorly. What drew my attention to this is a news flash about Jose Mourinho's case in Roma. According to the article, Mourinho left Roma angry and feeling betrayed by the players. Is it even possible that players will intentionally lose matches because they want their coach out at the expense of their own careers? If this is true, why will the club management reprimand the coach and not the players? I know some people will argue that the coach is the leader of the team and should be responsible for building the unity and love the team need to play in high morale, but in a case the players happen to have hated the coach and have decided to lose matches as punishment for their coach, is it right to fire the coach?
Because it just makes sense. Let me tell you more about it:

1. Coaches are responsible for the game plan of athletes on the field. They are the ones that are expected to create plans that would be effective against the opponents. They're the ones that should create counter strategies and tactics that they can exploit across the game. If the coach couldn't do this then he can't expect the players to do well in the field.

2. The player's main responsibility when in the field/court is to actually administer skills into the plan that the coach suggested. If the strategy isn't effective or is not tailor-fitted to the specific player's strengths and weaknesses once again it's their fault. Only time it would be the player's fault is if they are deliberately throwing the game.

As you can see from these important pointers, the coach plays a crucial role in each team they are in. If the coach couldn't do his job how would you expect the team to succeed?
34  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think women will make better gamblers by their nature? on: February 08, 2024, 11:36:24 PM
Women by nature are more conservative than men. They are better manager of resources and know how to prioritise things. This is what is needed for successful gambling because with it, the chances of using funds meant for basic needs in gambling will be minimised.

So do you think women will make better gamblers than men?
Studies have shown that women think more logical than men, but are often controlled by their emotions when formulating decisions, so there's that clear mismatch. However, over the sole fact that I know as a man that sometimes I make degenerate bets and gambling decisions for the hell of it, I think women are definitely better gamblers than us. Or at least a little less likely to fall for unhealthy gambling practices even when subjected to the same amount of time and exposure as a gambling male.

I've never seen females be so stupid about their money especially when it's for an important purchase of all things. In my country women are even regarded of as the budget centers for every family. If they are to gamble at least on paper this means we can't expect them to make the same stupid mistakes and avenues that we always make when we, men, gamble. But that doesn't mean that they are safe from gambling addiction, so keep that in mind.
35  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more? on: February 08, 2024, 11:13:24 PM
Gambling an activity for fun also has the chance to turn someone's fortune. Calculated risk when taken in gambling can be the way to big wins from gambling. Who do you think should take more risk in gambling? The rich gambler or the gambler who is not yet rich. If a rich gambler takes risks in gambling, they are risking losing money and becoming poor from gambling, or getting richer, when a gambler who is not yet rich gambles, they can also get poorer or richer, so the gambler who should take the risk should be the gambler who can handle the dangers of the risk like losing too. When a rich gambler loses from taking a risk, there is a better chance of them being in a position to manage with the losses, than someone struggling financially who a big loss will really affect. So, I am confused after asking myself this question and answering it, does this mean a poor gambler should continue to play it safe in gambling? With no risk, how can a poor gambler change their fortune in gambling?
It doesn't matter if you're rich or not. The amount of risk you take should always be proportional to the losses you can afford.

You could be the richest guy in the world and be shaken by a mere loss of a dollar, and that's okay (and you should take that into account when you gamble) of course this doesn't apply to those who's living below their means cause why the hell would you splurge in gambling when you can't even afford to finance your food in the first place? Make that make sense. This kind of means rich people will always have the edge over poor people in regards to being able to afford losses and whatnot but it's a reality in life that we can't really ignore/disregard. But the point still stands, only risk what you can afford to lose. Going over your limits is a death wish, you're not a main character in an anime, you shouldn't surpass your limits especially if it's all about gambling anyway.
36  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your view on this? Is it fun or addiction? on: February 08, 2024, 10:55:10 PM
So in weekends in my departmental WhatsApp group, we just randomly talk about soccer bets and sometimes drop a particular game and keep it open for correct score prediction to be made on it, and the first person with the correct score goes home with a data subscription, this has been going on for almost two years now and people have gotten used to it without knowing it.

This is one of the chat I just bumped into by one of us in the group chat and at this point I feel most of my friend have made it compulsory to always gamble every weekend.

Do you see this as addiction or just catching of fun?

Mind you, we just enjoy the moment and might just joke around with people making predictions based on the teams,  they love but we are mostly gamblers at our different ends.

I think this is nothing but a meme that pokes fun at how you guys have been at this gig for years now with little to no end in sight. Plus I personally wouldn't be this stoked even if I'm addicted to gambling for cellphone load, unless that thing's crazy expensive from where you guys live.In any case, as someone well-versed in the meme culture of gambling addiction memes I say this is nothing but sarcasm. He's most definitely seeing the hilarity in the setup you guys have and is either sending this to give you guys a little slap in the face to inform you you've been going at it for a while now and perhaps it's due time you guys stop this gig, or he could just be outright trolling to stir the pot and perhaps make you guys think he means this even though he's probably one of the first people to realize he's becoming addicted and perhaps should stop. I don't know though. I'm really just spitballing here.
37  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What You will do in this situation? on: February 08, 2024, 10:35:53 PM
A few days ago, my house was being cleaned. Three people are cleaning the front and back yards of the house. One of them was playing slots and I saw him. Actually, I wanted to suggest he try sports betting because I often see the guy watching football matches and he does have knowledge about many teams. So I was wondering if I could introduce him to sports betting so he could use his ability to predict every game he knows about.

Besides that, I just feel that if he deposited $10 = IDR 150,000 into a gambling site just to play slots, he would probably suffer a complete loss. But if he can place bets on sports betting, there is a possibility of him winning some money on small bets. Wouldn't that be an advantage for him?

If you were in this situation, what would you do? Introduce him to sports betting or let him stick to playing slots. Yesterday, I just let it go but we still often meet at other activities.
I would honestly let him be. Like for some people it just makes sense to play slots because that is their comfort game and it's what basically gives them fun and enjoyment, and while it's good and okay to introduce a new game to that person, unless we're close I wouldn't really rub the option of choosing another game against him. Because as I said, this might've been his comfort game and no matter how much money he loses in these games as long as he takes care of himself it doesn't really matter. At the end of the day, it's all about making sure that you're having fun when you're gambling, and not the prospect of earning money in the process that really matter most.

I see your great intentions and honestly I would've been persuaded if I were the guy you're talking about, but at the same time some people may take it the other way and see you trying to introduce a new game to them as being nosy but whatever.

You can't. There, I said it.

The thing is that you can't reliably make money off of ordeals like these. Who goes out there gambling thinking they could be the next millionaire in the family bloodline all cause they placed a bet on SKT T1 for the world finals of League of Legends, can you see how stupid the precedent is? Plus it's a little predatory to inspire people to gamble by showing them your payouts. It's like showing people that you can earn money through ponzi schemes by showing them a cash checque you got from your MLM business while the rest of your bottomline is trying their hardest to sell their fucking soaps while you wallow upon the entrance fees that they paid you to get indicted into the organization. For the sake of everyone's sanity just gamble for your own sake and just be happy when you get the moolah, don't go out here talking about how gambling can make you a millionaire cause there's higher chances of you getting hit by a truck of tangerines before you even get rich from gambling.

Posts like these make me wanna wish Eugenics is still a thing cause why the fuck would you make a baby, only to neglect it later on when it’s barely even able to stand up and be conscious about its existence all for the sake of your personal pleasures. That’s just downright cruel if I do say so myself and parents who do this I believe have a space reserved for themselves in hell. Whether you’re drunk from gambling addiction or you did this out of your own volition.

You do realize that the kid never even asked you to birth them out, you basically just decided for the kid and when it’s out, you’re going to neglect it? Way to talk about being very responsible as a parent huh.

I say the guy deserves the arrest and I wish he never gets out of prison cause 9 times out of 10 the kid’s better off with someone not him.
