I have a couple of gridseed's running on a raspberrypi with cgminer 3.7.2 and I seeing

"pool 1 JSON stratum auth failed: (null)"

every few minutes. What is this?

your username / password is wrong.... try again

So everytime I hook more than 100 gridseed 5-chip devices to ubuntu 12.04 using the forked cgminer 3.72 (for gridseed) I get errors in syslog about usb.

Some look like this: err (28) No space left on device usb

Others look like this: unable to enumerate USB device on port

I tried another PCI-e usb card and could only get 22 on the extra usb card.

Is there some type of bus limit I can increase to get past 100?

Thanks for any help!

If you have enough for a 100 units, get some more controllers... Its better anyways since it gives you another point of redundancy...

Get 5 Raspberry Pi's - 20 units loaded on each one, that way if one miner is down, you'll atleast know where to look instead of finding a needle in a haystack

Danny

This doesn't scale well though. I'll have 1000+ of these miners soon and won't be able to manage that many raspberry's..

Any other ideas?

if you have 1000, then purchase 50 Raspberry Pi's using CGMiner, then use this:

http://manotechnology.blogspot.com/p/cgremote.html

So your way of scaling up a farm is to use 1 giant computer? lol How do you think Dave run's his 8 million dollar a month bitfury farm? Its all Raspberry Pi's!!

Not exactly that difficult if you know what to look for...

Hello everyone!
This data will definitely help with Tuning your GridSeed 5 chip USB miner/s.

I just received this data from GRIDSEED via HASHRA.com today. 3-13-14
I'm paraphrasing for general clarity.
I've also added some of my own observations based on direct experience with my own GS5's.

GRIDSEED GS3355 5 Chip USB Miner - Flashing RED and GREEN LED's - What They Actually Mean.

All timings are either approximate or exact, if not darn close!
Your clock speed may vary slightly. Wink

GREEN flashing LED means - 5V is ON / drive electronics are powered up.
GREEN LED is ON for 1 second, OFF for 1 second.

RED flashing LED - ON 3 seconds / OFF 3 seconds:
Miner Is Hashing / Processing Data.

RED flashing LED - ON 60 to 70 seconds - OFF 60 to 70 seconds:
Miner is Not Hashing / Processing Data.

If Fan is OFF and RED LED IS STUCK ON or OFF i.e. not flashing:
12V is OFF - 5V is ON.

FAN is ON but no GREEN OR RED LED's are flashing ON or OFF:
12V ON - 5V OFF.

When first powering the miner on, the best sequence I have found is:
First, turn 12V Power ON
Second, turn 5V USB Power ON
This will enable self test to occur in correct sequence. (I'm guessing)
If you do not use correct power up sequence, various hash / no hash / no shares reported type problems may occur. (I'm guessing here too)

A few seconds after 5V USB Power is turned on, the GREEN LED's will start
to flash ON/OFF as written above.
After 12V power is turned ON, in about 60 to 70 seconds,
the RED LED's will start to sequence ON/OFF as written above.

Hope this helps! Smiley
Peace

LOL, i beg to differ! My units flash normally even when they are obviously not hashing... Unplug one of the USB's while its hashing, the colors of flash are EXACTLY the same... Try finding that unit thats not working in a network of hubs

Printed a few stickers here before.... GREAT PRICE, but sadly quality is crap... Stickers are thin, the gloss layer is thin and the paper quality is just terrible!~ I guess you pay for what you get

Although I'm new to the forums, I've been following in the shadows for a long time.

At this point, I need some guidance though.

Does someone have a point of contact or easy method to contact gridseed directly regarding a large/bulk buy? I'm looking to get 200-300 units. (Also, if some folks want to jump in on the buy, and you want to escrow in some form or fashion through a senior member, I'm fine with letting you hop onto my order to get the pricing discount)

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

-wc

I'd definitely be down for something like that!~

Etekcity, Orico, Anker, Aitech are all the same crap. Just different badging. But now Anker it seems is branching out as their 13 port looks nothing like etekcitys or oricos. But Aitech is still pushing the old aluminum design

http://www.amazon.com/AITECH-backward-Compatible-Aluminum-10port-Silver/dp/B00A79GOYU/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1394435043&sr=1-1

And yes, the only reason Anker is 5A is because of the charging port which gives 2.1amps, and both of these give 1A to each port...

Here found another rebadged one:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GPK9NSY?psc=1

But yeah i guess don't believe in the hype of Anker, just buy the 25 dollar variant!

Everything has been going great. Clocked the units to 900 and now my pool is showing a lot different speed than cgminer.

Pool is only showing 5.2 MH/s. I guess just put them back to 850?

man you got a crap ton of hardware errors.... I have like 2 or 3 errors in the past 3 days on my RPi running 20 units

Danny

what usb hubs are you using?

I am using those 60 dollar anker hubs... Might be the reason

Could you link or PM me the exact model number?

I can't right now. Its title 50 gridseed setup or similar. He lists it in the thread.

Just buy these, they are the same hubs as Anker and cheaper!~

Worldly did you notice a drop in power since the fans have been snipped?(in watts)

Ok, just finished cutting and taping the wires on the fans for all 10 miners.

Before:  ~110watts
After:  ~83watts

I don't have a decibel meter, but WOW its so quiet by comparison!  Hopefully these will keep chugging along...

I guess this means I kiss my 30 day warranty goodbye!  Grin

wow, these little suckers are really efficient scrypt miners... 8 - 2.7watts = 5.3 watts / 350khs lol super efficient
