There are Bitcoin Trams in Hongkong that have slogan as "Be your own bank".

202  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbie: What are those mysterious spikes? on: December 20, 2020, 08:21:43 AM
They are spikes but the changes are not big (about 3% higher or lower than $1 for one stable coin). If you consider stable coins as altcoins (they are altcoins indeed), if one trader has big demand (big enough to create a spike), and accept a temporary loss of 3% to buy or sell, that trader can create those spikes. They may see a crash of another coin and think they can get 10 or 20 percent in profit so they accept 3% loss when buying or selling stable coin.

It is very popular with shit altcoins, when signals from scam groups are released, some greed traders can create spikes if they buy up too much and don't slowly accumulate coins.

Stable coin spikes are smaller than spikes of shit altcoins. They are stable coins.
203  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there a bitcoin profit tool/calculator/app? on: December 20, 2020, 08:02:01 AM
Use apps have risks and if you care about your information (privacy), and security with backdoors, threats from apps, you would calculate it manually.

Excel sheet (not Google sheet) can help you. It is not automated update sheet and every day you have to update your sheet. Bought price, today price, and profit/ loss. In the sheet, you can have columns for exchange names, links to trading pair for each coin.

Google sheet is bad as your information can be leaked or sold. Don't consider to store your excel sheet file on Google Drive, Drop box
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are the top 5 ALTS you held in 2020 on: December 20, 2020, 05:26:50 AM
I hold CLO, ETH, LTC. For CLO i will held for long-term(use cold staking to earn more coin passively) and ETH-LTC for mid-term. I hope i have money to invest more soon!
what is CLO ? on cmc ?
Because speedforce mentioned the cold staking so I think that coin is Callisto Network (CLO): https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/callisto-network/markets/
It is a fork from Ethereum in 2018 and I used to mine Callisto Network in early months after its genesis block. I regret that I did not sell my CLO coins in 2018. My loss is not  much as I mined for few days or weeks and I mined about 6k CLO, not much.

205  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Concept of volume as an indicator on: December 19, 2020, 03:26:31 PM
Anyways, thank you for all the reply posts in this thread. I have realized that some of the reason why we avoid such trades with respect to volume as the indicator are just common sense based on the supply and demand. Might as well continue on the other basic concept. Thank you so much!!
You are welcome.

You're right in that volume is "the fuel", but the "movement" is the momentum. There can also be momentum without large volume, like manipulated shitcoins for example. For Bitcoin, large volume indicates high demand to "fuel the mometum" like you said.

Shitcoins low volume, manipulated momentum. Bitcoin real volume, organic momentum.
It is clear. Thanks.

Shit altcoins with low volume can be manipulated by scam groups of pump signals. Many people lose money when they join those scam groups. They can get profits if they receive the signal very early in the group. If they receive signal too late, when they buy, other members in the group and the owner of the group dump coins into their buy orders. Scam pump signal groups can cause spike candles without any noticeable increase of volume.

How are companies operating within the cryptocurrency industry meeting the challenges associated with obtaining access to banking?

They simply open a business entity and banking in a jurisdiction that allows them to! It’s not that difficult when you consider there are plenty of blockchain-friendly jurisdictions these days, which explains why there are many companies based there — Malta, Switzerland and now increasingly US and UK too and parts of Europe now that regulations are becoming friendlier.

Bitcoin and blockchain can’t be stopped!
Bitcoin can't be stopped. Blockchain is globally accepted by nations and governments that it is a technology for now and future so sure it can not be stopped.

Friendlier is better but it does not mean you are free from the follow up of governments. Therefore, make sure to use change addresses and avoid to disclose too much about your bitcoin investment, address and your identities. Information is caught on the Internet and the bitcoin ledger so if you disclose your information, you can not erase it.

208  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Concept of volume as an indicator on: December 18, 2020, 12:56:06 PM
Volume does not mean "momentum", but an indicator of demand. More volume simply means more people, or more money, OR more people with more money are buying causing the surge in price. The "momentum" is when there's FOMO. Cool
Thank you for the correction but I don't get the idea why do you consider volume as momentum when FOMO appears. It maybe a difference in language but say it in other words, I think volume is the fuel or force behind a growth. No fuel, no growth. Abundant fuel, price will rise if it appears after a long hybernation or accumulation.
209  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Concept of volume as an indicator on: December 18, 2020, 06:14:57 AM
why do we need to avoid or enter such trade when there is something happening in volume.
Volume means momentum. Bigger momentum than normal, price will rise. Smaller momentum or it dissappers, price will fall.

Quote
What is the correlation of volume in order to have a glimpse of proper trading execution?
Don't trade if you can not exit at any price. If you want to trade 1 BTC but the average volume of the coin you are interested in is 0.1 BTC, please skip it and choose others.

Quote
[1] If the price is increasing but the volume is decreasing. Why do we need to avoid such trades?
Two possibilities: it is a test before a new pump. It is a flash pump from a scam signal group. If you think it is a test, you have to follow it up. I only consider them as scam pumps before I can see real momentum for a real pump.

Quote
[2] Regardless of how price is increasing or decreasing if the volume is low. Avoid such trades.
Correct.

Quote
[3] Regardless of how price is increasing or decreasing if the volume is high there is a good opportunity for trading.
True.

Quote
[4] If a cryptoasset is experiencing sideways on a longer period of time and the volume is continuously increasing. Why is it that this is a sign of reversal?
Maybe.

Quote
[5] If there is an ongoing breakout and volume is too low. Avoid such trades?
I would avoid it.

Quote
[6] If the price is continuously increasing while the volume is decreasing. Why is the this is another sign of trend reversal?
Retailer effects maybe and it can be the end of one ride.
210  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitamp Bitcoin Web Wallet - Send & Receive Bitcoin Instantly! on: December 18, 2020, 02:10:29 AM
Technical analysts point to a proven cycle of rallies shortly after a Bitcoin halving event — always around 6 months after halving. This happened twice before and appears to be happening now, roughly 6 months after the last halving on 11th May 2020.
Halvings help bitcoin catch more attention on social media, televisions, and mass media that make noise and together they help bitcoin to attract new investors and increase its adoption. Halving also creates a feeling that bitcoin is becoming scarce a little bit more. In the history, the price tends to top up 1 year after the halving days.

Quote
Fundamental analysts believe it’s simply a matter of network strength. More hashpower means more security, more users and adoption means more demand and utility, and this year we’ve had strong buying interest from big companies and institutions.
Hashrates on the bitcoin network is big and replay attacks are impossible. Impossible because the attacks require big cost and attackers won't get benefit from their attack cost spent ahead of time. Hashrates relate to security and healthy status of the network and it also reveals us the intrinsic value of bitcoin. The higher a mining cost to mine one bitcoin, a higher potential price for bitcoin to be traded on the market.

You can only get your private key for each of your receiving address.
I don't get your point here mate, are you trying to say that each time you regenerate new address on bitamp, immediately you are given out new pk?, or you mean, each type of address like legacy-address (starting with 1), P2SH-address (starting with 3), Segwit address(starting with bc1), all have their respective private key? Let me be clarified mate.
Did you try to create one Bitamp wallet?

If you create one wallet, you will get my point here. I am unable to explain it and as a participant in the campaign, you would try to use the wallet.

If people are giving out their private key, they don't use the Bitamp wallet. Not your keys, not your coins. You can create the wallet offline (and clear the cookies after you finish). Even when you create a wallet online, Bitamp developers claim that they don't own your keys so if you don't back up your keys, you lose your wallet. No support for wallet recovery from the team.

Every Bitcoin address (regardless of the type) has a corresponding private key. A public key is calculated directly from its corresponding private key (hence the name public/private key pair).
It is. One public address will have one private key and you will get the private key if you click on the Key icon at the right side. Three address types and each type has a list of addresses. Each address has a private key.
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An interesting fact from the posting history of satoshi on: December 17, 2020, 08:13:42 AM
Unbelievable that the old website still be here. The information on email hosting fee (25 bitcoin every week) is another story after the 2 bought pizza with 10,000 bitcoin. 10 Years After Laszlo Hanyecz Bought Pizza With 10K Bitcoin, He Has No Regrets.

It is a very big regret if look back but in life, I think what was done, let it be and go forward. I am not the person who bought 2 pizza with 10000 bitcoin or paid a email hosting service with 25 bitcoin each week but I made some mistakes and stupid decisions. I tried to not feel regret about it, accept it and keep going.

Those other stories are donators and VIP members of the forum. They donated 10 or 50 bitcoin to support the forum and get a title Donator or VIP and badges. How do they feel about their past decisions today?

Google sheet, I don't recommend you to use Google sheet that is connected to Google data base and online threats are around.

Instead of Google sheet, you can you Excel sheet on your computer. It is safer and you can control your personal identities and tax data. You don't need to trust Google to protect your information hence you must keep your computer clean of digitalised threats and don't do stupid things when you are online.
214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: December 17, 2020, 02:03:38 AM
it looks like liverpool is already starting to distance itself from opponents:

 Grin

after defeating tottenham, I don’t see the next 7 teams beating liverpool, it may be that aston villa tries to surprise, manchester united is a team that sometimes manages to surprise, but I don’t see manchester united beating liverpool, so I think that next 7 games will be easier for liverpool and will make liverpool a long way away from opponents, it is enough that opponents lose games. it will not surprise me that liverpool has a big advantage over all teams and become once again champion
Congratulate Liverpool for their 3 points but it is not an impressive win from them. Tottenham has more opportunities to score goals in the match. Liverpool has some opportunities too but Tottenham have more. In addition, the equalizer from Mo Salah has support from luck. If Mo did not score that goal, Tottenham might have good chance to do their counter attack. In the second half, Tottenham had some chances to a lead (from Bergwik, Kane) but they missed all.

Anyway Liverpool do their works very good and take a 1st position and it makes more sense if we know they lost Van Dijk since early of this season.

With Electrum (bitcoin wallet), you can set up a wallet with 2FA protection but if you use that type of wallet, you will be charged more fee. The 2FA is set up on a Counterparty (Trusted coin) so that you will be charged fee by them.

Download Electrum. If you choose wallet with two-factor authentication, you will see this one.

Quote
Two-factor authentication is a service provided by TrustedCoin.  It uses a multi-signature wallet, where you own 2 of 3 keys.  The third key is stored on a remote server that signs transactions on your behalf.  To use this service, you will need a smartphone with Google Authenticator installed.

A small fee will be charged on each transaction that uses the remote server.  You may check and modify your billing preferences once the installation is complete.

I don't know wallet for tokens (ERC20 token) allow you to setup 2FA but I guess 2FA-wallets for ERC20 tokens are available.

If you set up a strong password and keep your device is clean, you can be safe. Don't think 2FA can protect you if you always do stupid things with your devices.

Electrum is Good for PC.

Edit: I just found they have a mobile app too. but I don't know if it is good or not. lots of negative reviews on their playstore page.
Electrum is good for Android but you can not sign a message on your phone with Electrum (for Android). You will not be phished if you download the app from their site, not from Google Play (as a result of app you get from Search in Google Play). There are many fake apps in Google Play (is this the negative reviews you told?)

https://electrum.org/#download. Visit it and click on Google Play to download the app for your Android phone. If you hove the mouse on Google Play hyperlink you will see the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum

The legit Electrum app will have the info (you will see it after the installation, click on About (right corner)

And Dortmund just sacked Favre Roll Eyes
Dortmund in the last season and in this current season are very different. This season they played worse and the injury of Haaland can prolong their troubles. Jadon Sancho can feel bad when he couldn't leave in the summer transfer to Manchester United, a big club, back to his country land and at least Manchester United did not have bad results like Dortmund.

Favre can feel how bitter the career of football manager is. It can change very fast and Mourinho with his 2 coach time in Chelsea proves it too. He won Premier League with Chelsea and one season later, he was sacked 2 times.
218  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Virtual/Practice Trading on: December 14, 2020, 03:48:47 PM
I have used this one before when I was a starter.

So far, I manage to practice without any real money involved but technically with the same indicators and tools you may need as what will you expect in real leverage trading.
Trading with leverages and use Testnet or demo for your trades are very different from real trades from your bitcoin. Doing your trades with real money causes more emotions, more uncertainty and more inaccurate decisions and orders.

On BitMEX, also pay attention on the cycle and closed time of each Funding and Funding rates. Close your orders before the time is best because you might or might not be charged with fee after that time and around Funding expiration, price usually fluctuates more than usual.

Hello, it looks like the Bitamp wallet is now being discussed a lot because of its simplicity and comfort to use, I'm sure I tried it for real but I want to ask if the wallet on Bitamp can sign the owner's wallet?
Like other Electrum wallets?
I think you are asking about signing and verifying a bitcoin message from a wallet. There is no feature for Sign the owner's wallet.

Quote
I want to know if Bitamp can or not.
Thank you I just wanted to know that but will use it for the first time I try it.
You can not as I know. There are two under-developing features for Bitamp wallet: Lightning and Exchange.

You can only get your private key for each of your receiving address. It is cool because Bitamp gives you 3 types of address. The process to create a wallet on Bitamp is simple so why not try it yourself and get experience how it is about?
220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Defend the bitcoin network to the death on: December 14, 2020, 01:54:43 AM
I believe we should have a discussion on why it's so important to defend the bitcoin network to the death.

(metaphorically speaking, we don't have to sacrifice any life.)
Many things people can do to help bitcoin and bitcoin network.

Run a full node and connect its to other full nodes to help to have more backup of the network records and help bitcoin network is more decentralized.
Use non custodial wallet and manage the recovery progress. It helps you control your bitcoin and help the network has less lost bitcoin. https://wasabiwallet.io/

Use DEX: bisq, localcryptos, hodlhodl.

Try to use bitcoin for your shopping to help the growth of bitcoin adoption.
