Yep! changes are already carried over, Next update will be DB update and some small performance improvements, nothing mandatory, for now anyway.

Client has been stable for some time now.  I have noticed there is actually still a few old clients out in the wild.  

Will put out a new update slightly before the reward halving coming up.

Also have some other improvements here and there to implement at that time.

value creates demand, and megacoin will be a lot better crypto-currency than bitcoin when (I hope) it provides real anonymity rather than bitcoin's traceable pseudonymity. as more people realize this and see how easy it is to exchange their bitcoins for megacoins, demand will grow steadily. I think that will lead to sites like silk road accepting megacoin payments, and then ebay, amazon, itunes later on. people will buy and sell things like real estate for megacoins, and eventually in the long run real-world retail stores, gas stations, movie theaters, etc. will accept it everywhere.

the US government will probably attack bitcoin and try to control it before megacoin becomes prominent. hopefully megacoiners will learn from what went wrong with bitcoin if it becomes regulated or outlawed. but the government won't be able to control megacoin's value effectively.

I appreciate everyone's megacoin posts on here, it's given me good insight. I think this is possibly one of the most lucrative investment opportunities anywhere, and I'm glad to be a part of megacoin so early on. and Kimoto is awesome!

While this is true, I also understand his concern (although a bit misplaced). For any crypto currency to become widely adopted, the people that can't explain the difference between a toaster and a computer are exactly the ones we need to develop for. User friendliness is key. It needs to be hands off, plug-and-play all the way.

At this point in time we're still early in the game. But IMO it must be the end goal. If your grandma can't use Megacoin, it's not done.

Difficulty is too high, I think it may take more than a day to reach the reward half.

Coins E market depth being so low has really messed with the prices now cryptsy api has gone awol, eg DMD at 0.00000035 when the highest buy is 0.00082506   
and ANC at 0.00000064 when the highest buy is 0.00104001

One reason I like to support certain coins is the ability of the developer.

There are plenty of coins around which are simple copy and paste coins. This is fine up to a point, but when changes need to be made and innovations need to be added / included the less skilled / experienced devs tend to not be up for the job.

This is where I think Megacoin is different. Dr. Kimoto is clearly a very competent dev, he managed to use the latest bitcoin code, which no one else was able to do. The Megacoin qt client looks great - better than most other coins. The megacoin.co.nz website is hands down the best I have seen for any new coin. Kimoto will not take a single coin in donation (unlike most other coin devs) which to me shows me he is not interested at all in pump and dump tactics. The Megacoin client gives the lowest amount of stale / invalid shares for any coin I have ever run a pool for (probably owing to the latest bitcoin core code). The talk of Zerocoin being integrated into Megacoin which if true and if Kimoto can do it would instantly bring this coin to the front of the altcoin race....

I think when a dev can demonstrate the achievements listed above you can pretty safely bet that the future is bright for Megacoin.
