201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage - Working Beta - Currency has been released on: June 06, 2016, 01:39:29 PM
Keep mining ethereum before these people decide they have stacked enough coin for their plan and they release the pool software they've been using for the past months.
lol : with 42 gpu one can solomine and find more than a block per day, no need to wait for pool.

202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: (SC) Siacoin Speculation on: June 06, 2016, 07:45:21 AM

Oh ye of little faith  Tongue

Even though you missed the boat, it's been great to see your threads and have your support. The votes of confidence that we get from key players in the cryptocurrency space keep us motivated.  We're glad to have gotten so much working already, and excited for what's coming in the next month.

If you have followed Sia you may know that the recent price hike was all down to Yunbi (a large Chinese exchange) listing Siacoin next to a small selection of other alts. So, consider what will happen when 1.0 is launched (and it won't be an "experimental" launch; that is all part of 0.6.x development and testing).

I would say now is a good time to re-enter Sia. It is down that 53-54 sats and seems to have hit a resistance level there. I doubt it will go much lower.

Good luck on whatever path you choose!

I did some soul searching and realized that I needed to diversify a little out of Monero into a couple of other worthwhile projects.  So I swallowed my pride and rebought Sia for 56 satoshi just now.  I expect it could drop to as little as 40 satoshi, but I'm willing to ride that ride.  Smooth is right - the Chinese tech fans can be voracious when they catch wind of a new fascination, and there are a lot of good things (honest good things, not empty hype like some of these recent ICOs) on the horizon for SC.

So I'm back in for approximately 20 million Sia.  It's a shame I didn't just hold what I had back a couple of months ago, but I won't make that mistake again.  I've seen how many commits you guys have made to the project and I feel like there are good things to come.  Good luck to you for the upcoming June milestone!
I mine and bought sia since almost the begining. But I sold most of my stack around the 20-70 sat, I was convinced sia will go back to 15-20 at least once, especially with the btc rise. It seems I was wrong! Surprising to see it is able to not only remain in the 50-70 range  but to break out to new range with the current btc rise.

you can make over 7mh for medium card 970 and 10mh on a 980 GTX  Sad Its a joke, AMD card frizzle 3 mh lol,I wonder how it was possible to get that nvidia hashrate so easy first time when amd get difficulty, except if amd card was bloat from beginning

im switching back to eth,no reason to keep mining this one as amd owner card,we're seriously desavantaged
the algo should have hashrate not so far from pure X11 : the sgminer from the dev is not optimized.
I don't know if fast X11 opencl kernel source are available : there exists fast  closed source ones which could obtain around 10Mh/s for a R9 280X : https://www.nicehash.com/?p=news&id=53

I am sure experimented gpu dev such as wolf0 or tpruvot or djm34 or ... could easily double hashrate for amd cards.

but they will make it public? i doubt... that's the point, here we have a nice boost for free, those other dev will ask you ridiculous price like 1 btc or more
they frequently release some of their work for free.
The present kernel for amd for this algo is crippled : this is the reason for the low temperature.

two worlds about xre.suprnova.cc

WTF?! you kidding me?! I find 16 blocks (2048 coins), but i have only 950 coins in my balance

FEE 55% IS OKAY???

do you use CPU or GPU ?

And this happens when  people don't understand the statistics.. it is a proportional payout scheme.. everyone gets paid according to his hashrate, not by the Blocks you have found. Try the other pools and compare the payout and you will see it is the same.
The numbers should converge : OK for the 16 block finder : too small number to have convergence.
But the 200 block finder (deore) shouldn't have such a wide gap between coins paid and coins generated.

It could be a sign that someone on the pool is cheating and is delivering false shares, getting paid without generating block, or without generating enough blocks.
I suppose you have already check for abnormal behaviour ?

PS: I see you post an answer while I was typing...

206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why is Ethereum actually the only cryptocurrency worth GPU mining? on: May 27, 2016, 11:39:22 AM

everyone here is talking like the mining will die after ethereum, there is nothing more wrong

we will talk about another more profitable coin in 1-2 years, guaranteed...

How can you be so sure?

because it happened like 3 times already or maybe even more? since 2013 there was always something to mine form time to time, it's not like ethereum was the only coin profitable since altcoin scene went all out

so after paycoin, etherum we will see new altcoin worthed to mining with VGA ?
Paycoin is not comparable to ethereum : ethereum offer a huge amount of btc equivalent to mining daily for a long period thanks to the sustained volume and price.
In the future zcash has probably the potential to offer a good gpu mining period.

207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why is Ethereum actually the only cryptocurrency worth GPU mining? on: May 25, 2016, 11:41:01 AM
Its a combo of the coin price, mining rewards and difficulty.

It will take a long time to roi if you don't own any preexisting gear already.  The 280x only hashes about 20 mh and if you spent 80 for the psu and 200 for the gpu that's $280, so you are looking at more than 3 months with free electricity.  Which I guess isnt bad but not that long ago you could payoff gpu's in about a month, also difficulty is continuing to rise more with the high value of eth.

you don't need to roi on equipment, only on gpu, equipment are always useful for future upgrade and future mining

possible : yes
probable : I tend to agree
guaranteed : lol
This happened with litcoin, then dodge (less than the others at least in amount of time) then ethereum (probably more than the others two combined). Three time (after bitcoin : I count only coins which have been able to provide profitable mining for a large amount of miners and a significant period) : do you think it is enough to be so sure it will happen again?

yes because i don't look specifically at a single coin, i look at the whole time frame where there was profitability, and late-2013-end summer of 2014, blow out of the water the current time frame for etehreum porfitabilitym, by a long shot

yes instamining does count, if you like it or not it's always profit, and yes now it's not possible anymore, but from time to time some good early mined coin show up and give you enormous profit

High profitability for mass miners has been for short windows periods only.
Of course more clever miners, targeting carefully chosen coins at launch or when unknown from the masses and carefully selling the earned coins at right times have been highly profitable for most of the time : but this is not for the big masses of miners and it requires investing a lot of time.

Moreover, the past is not enough to predict the future.
Investing in mining always present some risk.

I gave laughter when u said that they still have not found security flaw in Vcash.

Oh please wise newbie account. illuminate us with your proof.

lol  Ask EmilioMann it was he who spoke

Vcash is technically perfect and is still in beta. Has no failure and you know it.
A prize was offered if someone could find a fault on vcash and no one got

no coin is technically perfect...
If this is what you really think about your favorite coin, then you have really low expectations ...
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: May 11, 2016, 10:26:39 AM
As soon as I put that card into the rig its core clock reads 1519 the other 1492 and it will mine for a few seconds then drivers crash not ccminer. I tried every combo I could think of. Thats on any algo. I'm thinking of putting it on this computer and take out 2 750ti move them to the 970 rig. As soon as I can. See if that works.

There is not a single gtx 970 card that have a default boost clock of 1519 or 1492 that I know of. You must be overclocking.
Different algos can be clocked higher.. Decred can mine for weeks at 1600, but quark cannot. My 970 g1 gaming is clocked at around 1390 for quark on the default clocks. The hashrate is around 18.4 with sp-mod private #5
No that card is 1519 stock no oc'ing. That is what I read on gpu-z so when I run it at stock clocks crash. No oc'ing on anything. That is what I don't understand 1519 wow.
Probably their bios has been flashed!
Or your driver is crasy.

would still be nice to see one in action ...

even if it isnt '10x' the speed and all that ...

will get a chance soon i think Wink ...

#crysx

This is all old... The unveil for Pascal was on Friday which someone else announced in the thread.

A 1070 is a bit faster then a Titan and a 1080 is a decent bit faster. Benchmarks aren't out yet.

what do you guys will do, do you sell your gpu now, to avoid depreciation or better to wait and see the new gpu in action?, because the new gpu will make this one depreciate a lot, up to 50%
This is too late to avoid depreciation (one should have sold one month ago). On forum.hardware.fr (main french hardware forum) price for used good custom GTX 980 ti is now around or even under 450 euros (it was 550 euros a month ago), 330 euros for GTX 980 and 230 for a GTX 970.
Beside, it will last some few month before the optmized miners for the new gpu will arrive : probably better to keep them and mine with them for the next 3 months.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage - Working Beta - Currency has been released on: May 05, 2016, 09:19:14 AM
Should be good to drop some news from off forum here, to let ppl (investors) know what is going on. Or there is nothing going on?

1.0 release is in June http://forum.sia.tech/topic/148/questions-about-sia-wallet/5
for now, be prepared Wink

Thanks for the update! But a month or two from now is years in crypto. I have sold all and maybe I'll buy back at pre-insane price of 5 - 6 satoshis. Two weeks ago it was 39 satoshis, now it is 18 satoshis with dismal buy support. A classic bubble which is about to end and back to normal levels. Good luck!
Unless a huge increase in btc/fiat with btc halving (which could crash the altcoin market for a while), I don't believe under 10 satoshis price would happen again this year.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CGminer suitable for Skein on: April 27, 2016, 06:14:58 PM
I have given up the search for the CGminer

I am mining now DGB with my laptop windows 64 with a Nvidia Geforce GTX850M GPU with the following results:

1. with the ccminer 1.5.79 and skein algo i collect now about 2000DGB/day
2. with ccminer 1.5.79 and Qubit algo i mine about 1300DGB/day
3. Groestl algo didn't work with ccminer 1.5.79 but with 1.6.6 it mined about 1000DGB/day

In all three cases my laptop uses about 25-30 watt more power then in iddle situation and becomes a little bit warm but not hot.
So i use about 0,6kWh a day extra, that's in France about €0,09.

Conclusion: it is profitable to mine DGB with my equipment if the value of DGB > 20 satoshi (Exchange rate $450,-)

Hello,
What is your hashrate with skein please ?

Thanks.
217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alts dropping is not the beginning of BTC bull market on: April 11, 2016, 08:39:53 AM
Investors exit to sit on sidelines. Confidence in Bitcoin is undermined by the decentrally insolvable block size dilemma and unknown consequences of the summer halving.

I think you may have a point there

We got Eth scammers and Dash scammers piling into this thread praying BTC doesn't rise, which would crater all their scam coins.  Too bad it's going to happen.  Everyone knows it.  No matter what kind of weak propaganda you try to manufacture, BTC is about to go up a lot.
Present market price of BTC is the result of people expectations now: therefore not everyone believe price will rise, otherwise price would aleaready be on the way up. The market seems hesitant with opposite feelings...
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.0.6 on: April 08, 2016, 07:57:06 AM

Like Genoil says, the rate reporting isn't very sophisticated - so it skips around like mad.
One thing that's puzzling to me it the need for the DAG to reside in GPU memory.
I suppose accessing it via the PCI bus (in system RAM) would be slower, but, would all for 1GB cards to mine.
What do you think?

The whole point of ethash is RAM latency. Lower latency = faster mining. If you keep the DAG in system RAM, you might as well access it with the CPU. ethminer -C  Cool

Or sure, DDR5 GPU RAM is optimal - but, have you tried it?
I'm planning on it, when I have a spare day or two.
Any GPU is much better suited for mining than a CPU, of which I'm sure you are aware.

With ethash, it doesn't look like there will be any kernel optimizations or "revelations".
What I'm saying is that 1GB GPUs could likely mine much faster than a CPU.
Of course, proof is in the pudding.

A good rule of thumb for determining a card's hashrate is 80% * bandwidth / 8KB. 8KB is the amount of data that is retrieved from the DAG for each hash. 80% is the average effciency I've found to be common. i.e. 280X    = 0.8*224GB/8KB = 22.4MH/s
GTX970 = 0.8*196GB/8KB = 19.6MH/s

Now you take the max PCIE 3.0 bandwidth (x16), which is about 16GB/s. This should give you a theoretical hashrate of about 1.6MH/s.

In practise it's much worse though. I only had to change 2 lines of code in my CUDA miner to keep the DAG in device mapped system RAM. The hashrate of my GTX970 dropped to about 300KH/s. My i5-4570 CPU does about 400KH/s.

This formula does not work with GTX 980 Ti with a hashrate a little above GTX 970 and bandwith of 313Gb/s

Up : having a working block explorer is critical...
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Athereum mining still profitable? on: April 02, 2016, 08:27:16 AM
Doesn't matter which calculator you use, they are all wrong, even using the proxy for better profits you're not going to earn that much. The price could go up again which would be nice, but I think the days of quick ROI for mining gear have already passed, the difficulty is pumping.

That could be the reason why we just receive 80 - 90% of the Athereum from the mining pools as we expect.

Again, http://karldiab.com/EthereumMiningCalculator/

"The calculations accounts for average network blocktime, which increases accuracy but lowers predicted profit. Don't be fooled by other optimistic calculators!"

Also try different pools and proxies if possible. Some of them might give you surprising results.

i tried everything, but with my setup i only get not even 1 ethereum with 66 mega, when the calculator is saying 1.2
With ethpool  I have a bit more than 5 eth within 6 days (0.94/day) now with 53 54 mhs pool side and almost 55 56 miner side with qtminer
Their built in  calculator based upon submitted shares is pretty accurate
