81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: September 13, 2017, 03:30:43 PM
Given the bad behavior of the SPR team, literally no updates that they were abandoning the project. I'm a little worried about Helium. They did publish a statement a little over a week ago, I just don't think they can meet a September deadline. Helium better a be a real project and not an exit for SPR holders, they will be held legally responsible.
coins101 has a good reputation and the switch to helium is motivated by divergence with spr dev. I am rather confident.

Good move IMHO...

Thanks for the support Smiley

Thinking it over now, however... although my first instinct was to flip ALL of the Dash(LOL) over into Moaaarr Monnneerrooo! LOL I'm trying to be detached and unemotional again about my total portfolio balance here Wink

Plain fact remains, honestly I am probably too heavy into XMR: and -- truth be told -- yes, *we too* did have that "catastrophic bug" issue last year (very elegantly and astutely handled by our devs, once again big thanks for that, gentlemen).

So as much as I love HoneyPony I do still need to *try* and stay diversified and balanced here.

So, quick poll here boys: what do y'all think kinda looks good at the moment OTHER than XMR for me to put some of this liquidated Dash money into?
I would buy some SIA (my second loved coin after xmr) and AEON (the latter is not a diversification from XMR, this is more like a leveraged xmr), and keep some BTC of course.
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 26, 2017, 03:10:25 PM
Sold 90% of my XMR today I'm more of a short - term guy (uuu you silly Wink). So what do you think guys, are we going to sky rocket further?
Even as a short term cautious guy, I would have sold only 25-50%: there is still significant room for upside, I would bet for higher highs rather than lower low now.
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 20, 2017, 01:18:12 PM

Trolling....

Monero is open-sourced decentralized coin with a very unique code with very honest devs. Monero won't be bought by any organization nor it will pay somebody to be accepted somewhere. Otherwise I am out. I bought in at 0.5- 1$ and promised to start selling only above 100$. You from the other hand fud Monero when you short and praise it when long.  So please if you don't have anything useful to say don't come here. You are lurking around to see when a big announcement  will come just to long again and then you will start praising it again. This cycle of yours is well known and not unique at all.

I have to strongly second that Except the selling at $100..... Other than that, 'TrueCryptonaire' is obviously an impostor by name. Nomen est not always Omen it seems...Might be heading to my ignore list like others before it.....

Ignore him, he is a fool.  Apple was started as a project in a garage by two 'boyz' and look what a failure that was?  He was saying this kind of stuff when it was 50c a coin.  He was wrong then and he is now.
I would guess he is playing with words and with people in this forum:  the "garage" word may have been chosen with the allusion to apple in mind...

86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: (LKK) LYKKE speculation on: May 11, 2017, 09:20:47 PM
Nick Gogerty Joins the Lykke Team as Chief Strategist, Gogerty is the founder of SolarCoin.

https://www.lykke.com/company/news/nick_gogerty

”Lykke is building a massive platform for growth,” he says. “Much of that work isn't public yet.
My near term job is to support Lykke's platform by finding the early partners and new products and services that will deliver exponential growth across geographies, business sectors and customers, from individuals to institutions."

Lykke is gonna be a big thing in the future!
Interesting: I have tested the platform and found it promising: I invested a little bit.
Do you know if the likke asset will be tradeable on others exchanges ?
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Monero(XMR) GPU better than CPU mining on: May 06, 2017, 01:11:03 PM
Why did you not expect this? GPU cards (where OpenCL i.e AMD is concerned) will always be faster and/or more efficient than CPUs in any given Proof-of-Work algorithm.
The CryptoNight algorithm was designed to be GPU resistant, but this means nothing once GPU miners are actually released.

Scrypt was meant to be GPU-resistant as well, and there are ASICs now.
I don't think Cryptonight was meant to be gpu resistant, but to be asic resistant and to provide balanced performance between gpu and cpu.
You have some algo which are meant to be gpu resistant, in order that gpu performance will not be superior than cpu.
For instance lyra2z330.

For monero with my xeon E5 2696V3 (two years old model, 800$ on ebay), with some bios hack, I have around 940h/s with xmr stack miner, with around 135-140W, which is not bad.

Hello,
Mining in the official pool with 3 GTX1080/1080ti with my bitcore wallet adress, I see 50-70mh/s hashrate on pool side on http://coinspool.cu.cc/workers_bitcore but even after 12H and 100% accepted share, the balance stay at 0. Is this normal ?
It seems you will not have credits till you personnaly find a block ...

The recent round, Cantrell said, also included an investment in a so-called cryptocurrency — similar to bitcoin — called Nexus, from Kurrent Investment.

Not coincidentally, the company behind Nexus is trying to develop a satellite- and software- based currency exchange system, and it is led by Cantrell’s son, Colin.

“That makes a good business — it’s a billion-dollar business by itself,” he said

Looks like a big game changer Shocked

Impressive : strange that nxs price has not jumped above previous max on this news. Should lead to a jump in the range X2/X10 in bittrex price.

Hello,
Is there some table presenting hashrate benchmark for cpu somewhere?
Thanks
i7 6700K OC@4.5 make from 740 to 820 h\s
Thanks
6900k: @4ghz, with quadchannel mem@3200: around 1800-1900 with 4 threads, affinity set on physical cores. (I don't remember all the details since I switched to a xeon.

xeon E5 2696V3=2699V3 : 3200h/s with some overclock and some bios hack: 7 threads, affinity set to physical core balanced between the two subset of the cpu (http://www.cs.rochester.edu/u/ryates/slides/machine/#/4), hyperthreading disabled, freq aroung 3,6ghz.
https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/what-controls-turbo-core-in-xeons.2496647/page-9

ddr freq and timings, size of cache are playing a big role in hashrate.

93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zcoin (XZC) - Implementing Zerocoin technology for financial privacy on: March 27, 2017, 08:19:30 AM

Thank you for your guide. I really want to try solomining with this coin. I expect I'm not wrong with this guide.

For the mining binaries, you can look at this guide https://zcoin.io/guide-on-how-to-mine-zcoin-xzc/

It's still shown " No payout address provided, switching to getwork" Anybody here helps me to I fix this . I 'm very grateful.
I think this is normal
pool mining : stratum protocol (can use getwork to but stratum is better)
solo mining : getwork protocol (there is an other one possible): should require some line in the wallet conf file if this is like others coins...
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1080 SLI Mining on: March 23, 2017, 03:39:03 PM
1100 sols on zec for two 80. You can have decent profit.

Could you link some setup info? Again, newbie here.
use EWBF: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1707546.0
with +500 at least for memory (ideally + 800-1000 if the card support the oc, ), for the gpu: try to obteain the real boost frequency around 2000mhz (using for instance msi afterburner to oc and monitor actual frequencies).
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1080 SLI Mining on: March 23, 2017, 08:13:40 AM
Leaving out the cost of power consumption...... I was wondering if anyone has tried mining with 2 GTX 1080 cards configured in a SLI setup. Intel i7 6700k. 64MB RAM. I am new and have this hardware. What are your thoughts?
Note that it's better to mine without SLI activated: SLI is specific for games (you need to slice 3d computation carefully between gpu). For mining, the repartition of calculus between the gpu is trivial and done by the miner.
SLI or crossfire for amd activated will cause troubles for mining with the driver interfering with the repartition by the miner program.
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: March 23, 2017, 08:10:25 AM
sp_ ,are you planning to create equihash mod?

I have already made one. Not for the public. I run it on some of my rigs.
I am curious : what hashrate do you obtain with a GTX 1080/1070?
Regards
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX1080 vs GTX1080TI: How does it compare? on: March 22, 2017, 10:18:53 AM
The 1080ti has astronomical hash rates for ZCoin. It doubles a 1070 and for the most part that is the most dense ZCoin mining card since not many people got 1080's.

I would be mining ZCoin for the limited time left before they hardfork away that Lyra2z algo. The algo is very low utilization also so enjoy less heat while on that stock cooler

Yes the issue is that all calculators are off, so the profit is usually 50-55% of what is calculated. Do not have 1080 though so cannot say. What is the Lyra2z hashrate for the 1080 and 1080ti?
I had 2.2Mhash/s on a GTX 1080 and ccminer 2.0 compiled with cuda 6.5 (the 8.0 version gives 1.8-1.9 mh), but the profitability was not very interesting : as you said calculators are off. Maybe there are some private miners on amd side, which would explain there is an important hashrate on this coin whereas this is not the most profitable coin with public miners.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Strange death of 290x on: March 21, 2017, 12:49:43 PM
Actually it was glued , but i though that some stupid before me put glue! I found a crack on the chip on the right uper corner if you zoom a bit , could it be the problem? below it you can see the glue!

I had a similar crack on my gpu die (a radeon  5850) some years ago due to too much pressure with the heatsink (my fault): the gpu had to be sent to RMA.
Your gpu is probably dead.
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Strange death of 290x on: March 21, 2017, 09:50:36 AM
I bought a 290x referent and i thought it was a little hot and decided to change the thermal paste! After i change it and the pads of the vrm-s , when i put the card now it starts with artifacts and windows loads but when install driver and restarts , windows stops at this : http://imgur.com/a/3gBXY
Every time it loads it is this picture, even if it is as a second card , when i plug a monitor it shows this! May be it is a fax from space i could not decode:-))
the gpu starts to get hot when this loads , i made a bios with 300/150 mhz , and this shows again , but the gpu doesn`t gets hot! What could be the issue? Can anyone help! I checked the paste again and everything looks ok , but what could have happened?
The thermal paste may be conductive and have leaked to some components : try unmount see if my supposition si true and apply again a lesser quantity of thermal paste...

What speed are people getting with a 1080 gtx ?
GTX 1080
mem@5248, gpu @1870 (real freq) on a founder edition : around 540 h/s
with gpu@2075 (evga hybrid), mem@5500 : around 590-600 h/s
