bitspill [12:05 AM]
@snappaz: depends what you consider "client release" v0.5.x is released now, 0.6-rc1 is scheduled for this week, 0.6 depends how well the rc goes, 1.0 is scheduled for June

snappaz [12:54 AM]
thnx bitspill

taek [6:45 AM]
Yeah, a buggy release candidate will be out later this week. Then we will spend the next 2-3 weeks working through the rough stuff, and release something more production grade in early May

The supply curve does not really favor buying SIA at the moment unfortunately. Looks like we will see sub 10 satoshi again.

You may be able to fill that sub 10 satoshi order but I doubt it. Seems more like emotional trading than supply curves and TA driving the dumps on Poloniex. I suppose the supply curve matters more depending on what your personal valuation is of Sia. 16 satoshis puts it at less then 1 million dollars marketcap. Sia will eventually have low inflation so anyone believing in its potential to provide an enterprise grade storage solution may see this as a buy opportunity. I guess we will see.

There has been some testing by community members, but nothing successful at this point. We are more likely to see a pool after the release of 1.0 and even then it may have to be a community endeavor.

I'd love to have one since I can't mine it with current difficulty, but it just isn't a practical use of time and energy for the main developers to create one right now. One look at the Github repository and you can see they are coding like madmen.

Following the mining section of the slack channel is your best bet for any news regarding development of a pool.

I only have 2 peers and the daemon won't sync. Suggestions?

Edit, is this the wallet backup directory, if I switch to a more recent Sia version?

Should be good to drop some news from off forum here, to let ppl (investors) know what is going on. Or there is nothing going on?

Thanks for the update! But a month or two from now is years in crypto. I have sold all and maybe I'll buy back at pre-insane price of 5 - 6 satoshis. Two weeks ago it was 39 satoshis, now it is 18 satoshis with dismal buy support. A classic bubble which is about to end and back to normal levels. Good luck!

Yes, that is the location of the wallet files themselves, not just the backup. You should be backing up that folder elsewhere for peace of mind. Also, I recommend using at least version 0.4.8 now, if not any of the 0.5 versions or the 0.6 release candidates.

True, two months is a long time in crypto. Also true that many potential buyers look to bitcointalk for news. However, most people who hold anywhere near enough Sia to put a dent in what you are calling dismal buy support are not relying on this thread. The developers have already stated that the official forum and more specifically Slack is where the latest news will be, in real time I might add. While I do think they are underestimating this forums value, I do understand the need to focus their energy and limit the posting to more specific outlets.

I have been tempted to post "news" here about Sia but it could just be misconstrued as aimless "hype." You are damned if you do and damned if you don't in crypto. I will only say that there is far more news going on with Sia than is seen here and the savvy investor should expend the energy to do their own research.

Unless a huge increase in btc/fiat with btc halving (which could crash the altcoin market for a while), I don't believe under 10 satoshis price would happen again this year.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the coin supply supposed to be double in a year? That's a lot of supply or usage needed to maintain price longer term.

This is what shows for me every time I try to load the SiaCoin wallet.

I'm on a MacBook Pro running OSX Yosemite 10.10.5.

Can anyone help me get past this? I've downloaded the latest wallet.
0.6 is about to be released any day now. Taek basically announced that an official day of the release will be announced soon. This is the reason why the wallet isn't working at the moment. You can't fix this I think. Just be patient and the new wallet will be here shortly. If Taek is correct, you'll be able to import previous files onto 0.6 but I might be wrong.

Also, get hyped. I'm not going to start the hype machine, but a lot of interesting good things are about to come out for Sia overall. In terms of financing, growth, stability as an overall product, Sia is likely going to become big within the next month or two.
