TL;DR: mine --> spend!
This is the only positive i see in this regulation; it will give "the bitcoin community" in the US more incentive to spend B on goods and services, rather than convert it to USD.  Hopefully, it will lead to a "Separate but Equal" financial world of virtual currencies, into which some people can move completely, without ever having to convert digital currencies to wooden ones again. |

+1 So much for "ordinary savers" keeping most of their savings in banks, once they find out about this, and probably not only in the EU. The banks know they can do anything, because the "ordinary savers" don't really have a safe place to put their savings, without converting it to metal or something, which is not that safe either. Will be interesting to see if it will drive any significant funds to virtual currencies. |

... What kind of deterrent would you suggest? What do you think will stop predators like this? ... I may be slightly jaded . I think most of the time people can stop it simply by putting their opinion into the scam threads as they come across them. We all have verbose opinions and love to type. If most people took a few seconds to identify the scam thread as they incidentally come across them by posting so in them, those threads would quickly fill with scam warnings. Then we will have done all we can to protect our own reputations, because the scammers naturally try to mascarade as us, the non-scammers, and affect the reputation of this whole forum. |

He was an ardent Bitcoin critic, and then saw some positives in it, and now again did this big negative rant against them... He seems to be a reasonable guy. I think he lost some money on this latest fork crisis or something, and his usual daytrader tricks such as shorting don't work reliably with Bitcoin, as he discussed. So, he is frustrated with it right now. |
