201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CleanWaterCoin POW+POS | 1st Nonprofit Organization Coin [$2000+ DONATED] on: April 07, 2014, 01:02:00 AM

After maxing the coin will be POS only then right?  That's not necessarily a bad thing.  If the coin did max out in e.g. 30 days that creates demand in itself to get in now while its mineable.

Lets wait for the devs anyway to get accurate info on this, it is Sunday and not sure of their timezone.

My understanding from the description is that it is a hybrid for the life of the coin, so it is SUPPOSED to be POW/PoS (theoretically to have the best of both worlds), but if this is intentional, then yes, it will flood the coffers to maximum, end POW, and then they will start to accumulate interest @ 7% for the year.

These things are confusing to me due to not being a miner myself (yet!), and being in three or four different coin rooms experiencing one issue or another with PoS/PoW issues.

This coin is making so many fundamental errors.

PoS is meant to reduce the amount of TX fees needed by limiting the resources needed to sign and confirm blocks.  TX fees are how this coin planned on donating to charity. That's just an initial design flaw and maybe why they wanted to keep PoW. Or maybe the dev doesn't know what their doing.

At this rate the coins will reach the total mint in ~ 4 days and your interest and PoS rewards will be limited to only TX fees.

The devs will have to fork this coin if they plan on saving it.  Unless anyone has a better idea?

  Huh

When supply starts to vastly outpace demand this is what investors start to do...

I have seen it with every coin that decides to venture in to the billions.

Demand can still materialize and create value, how and when is largely up to the dev team. I am sure they will address this as soon as they are back at the helm. Hopefully soon so the boards don't fill up with FUD.

Hello... Devs??? A word or two on what you're doing about this would be nice before everyone starts switching their miners.

The above pic shows the reward increasing from 1000 to 400,000+ unless I am missing something. I am not a miner, but it is obvious that should not be happening.

Luckily, we are not on large xchanges where those coins would subsequentially be dumped!

Dev's will have to introduce a wallet update or fix to reset the blocks to what they are supposed to be at, correct?

Probably AFK then. I know at least a couple of them mentioned going to Church on Sunday. Hopefully they check their phones during breaks.  Tongue

is there an irc channel?  devs whats going on?

I am guessing they are AFK or are feverishly fixing the issue and will subsequently be introducing a wallet update.

(Agree that "We are looking in to this" needed asap to stop panic posts.)

We are past block 7000, and values out from blocks look oddly similar to 20000*sqrt(500+diff) instead of 20000/sqrt(500+diff). I am currently mining WATER and I am starting to get credits of 2000+ coins per block, and I remember that the subsidy should have decreased after block 7000. This is very much unexpected.

Edit: Outstanding is increasing by the value out (see explorer http://cleanwatercoin.altstrade.cc/chain/CleanWaterCoin) which makes the coin inflation extreme.

Can someone from the team look into this issue? Is there a reason to be worried (i.e. a bug) here?

If you can find a dev to look at it I would be amazed, I've been in IRC all day trying to talk to them, no luck. 7+ hours now.

I mean at this rate we would be hitting the limit of 1 billion coins somewhere between block 9000 and 10000. This does not look good. At the minimum an explanation is needed of what's going on.

Bump.

Could someone tell what is this Pos-thing? I get 8% of my wallet coins for free if I run my computer (what a waste of energy) for 20 days with wallet open? And after that 8% after 20 days etc? And what is pow?

You don't have to keep it open for 20 days. Just make sure to open it every 20 days or so, and don't move the coins around to other wallets or exchanges if you don't need to, as this will reset the age of those coins.

Basically, after 20 days, you can magically create interest coins. The more WATER you have, and the older those coins are, the faster they will find a POS block and mint for you while your wallets open. Once all the minting is done, you can close it down again for 19-20 days if you want to. Or, leave it open to contribute to the network.

Great, thanks!

You're welcome!!

Hahaha! This is great. Maybe it's time for a photoshop battle giveaway.

Thanks! And a series of themed photoshop battles with prize giveaways would be GREAT exposure as the images got passed around the social networks, assuming said images were positive ones. {Edit: Prizes would attract some talent!}

I also personally liked the addition of the blue to the water drop on the coin logo (I tried a few colors). I think it catches the eye a bit more than plain B&W. Opinions?

looks like someone at h2o bought more votes, they are doing everything to stay ahead of us Smiley

We are new and small, but persistant. They can obviously see that as we come creeping back up on them everytime they jump away.  Smiley

Enthusiasm is contagious, so we just need a wider audience, which will come with development and promotion.

The development needs to be transparent to placate investors, which will require regular updates to keep the forum watchers from getting twitchy every 48 hours or so and starting to make all kinds of irrational speculations about the integrity of this or that. It is the same on every coin forum.  Grin

Right now, it looks like we are just reaching out in to the Chinese market, and are entering the POS phase, which I hope will also be the beginning of the promotional phase since early investment means maximum interest and profitability.

I would conjur images of close-by heavenly bodies, but I don't want to jinx anything.

Does anyone know when the voting for this ends?

As long as there are guys that throw BTCs for that, I suspect that it will never end.

1.43 BTCs "donated" for MINT and 0.62 BTCs for BC till now. So, the really smart guy running this had more than 2 BTCs in less than a day doing nothing.

Yeah I wouldnt spend any btc on it. I watch the ticker for a while now almost seems rigged in bc favor as its going up 1 vote per second at a steady rate.

Edit like I said 1 per second, not 10 20 every few seconds which would show a person or few people voting

Wow. You are right. I suppose high volume could explain it for short amounts of time, but if the pattern continued onward it would seem too regular to be random people voting....Intrigue!.....Mystery!.....Conspiracy?

Well, almost 1800 votes for 8 days is amazing achievement. By the way, do we know how many people is voting?  I can admit I give around 40 votes a day.

I have been voting non-stop as well when I am able to, which is probably around 30-40 votes a day. If you have been voting 40 times a day and I have been voting 30 times a day, that means combined we have contributed 560 votes.  Smiley

That tells me we probably don't have too many people voting overall, but we have dedicated people doing it alot. We also had a small amount of BTC put towards votes, which I will contribute to as well, but I think it is best to wait for an organized push around the time MINTPAL adds a coin, otherwise it just becomes a bidding war.

POS starting soon.

It will be nice to see clean, sparkling, freshly minted coins showing up in my wallet.

I think it would be nice to have an audio cue (water drop sound?) when the wallet mints new coins, receives new coins, or WATER is donated to the charity address. This subconsciously will make people want to buy the coins and donate!  Wink As long as it is an exciting sound, it has the potential to become an addictive sound, kind of like the "level up" sounds in video games when you get new levels or skills. (Everquest had a very addictive "level up" sound, anyone remember that one?)

Anyone who is selling their coins now, is basically destroying their future ability for good payouts. I wouldn't recommend selling any Mintcoins until you have acquired enough to live on the interest. If just 10 more people decide to invest just $10,000 each that is $100,000 which is currently about ~210 BTC. 210 BTC in buy orders would probably cause the price per coin to rise well over 30 Satoshis. So if you invest now at 15 Satoshis, and the price doubles, then your interests actually double as well, so you could actually be looking at a net APR of ~40%.

It will make things phenomenally easier for new investors who like Mintcoin to buy in when/if we hit Vault of Satoshi. I can imagine the above scenario becoming a real possibility in the short term if we are added this month. I know I will buy some directly. Just like putting money away in a savings account, only much, much more exciting.
