The rest is, I assume, for development of the coin. Getting it listed on a proper major exchange instead of many tiny exchanges which are barely used would seem to be a good step in getting the coin recognised and more widely used, and as such a good use of at least some of the roughly $12000 left over from the PLC.

Devs, please let me know if I'm wrong and clarify what the remaining 24BTC from the IPO will be used for.

Peng, I love your intensity. It's obvious you are incredibly passionate and that's what I respect.

The BTC from the PLC goes to a number of things that all build up Clean Water Coin. From server fees and additional development costs (updated wallet is what's being worked on right now) to marketing and media campaigns. None of the BTC from the PLC has gone to pay for anything personal or as some sort of salary--we are at such a critical stage and those funds are key to growing Clean Water Coin and that is exactly how they will be used. We won't be spending BTC to buy votes on some of these medium sized exchanges, and let me explain why. We want to be on Mintpal and Cryptsy and others, but rushing to those exchanges is very dangerous for the long-term health of a coin. Because we are so new and there is a relatively small amount of coins disbursed among the community we are very susceptible to a pump and dump scenario. We've had an incredible launch, have already donated $2000 to charity: water, and have attracted lots of attention and all that could be used against us to fuel a pump. But without a larger community backing us that holds a more substantial amount of coins the fallout from a pump and dump right now would cause serious stagnation and possible death. Don't worry, we aren't holding the coin back. We support the voting for Mintpal and your purchase of votes is an incredible gesture and hasn't gone unnoticed. This are hugely important steps in our growth.

Don't stop voting and don't stop emailing exchanges. Keep up the intensity. Participate in the new giveaway we just posted last night and help build awareness. I promise you, and everyone here, it is well worth the wait.

+1

Like the dev said, keep voting on exchanges. People see the votes and then go look up the coin to see what all the fuss is about, bringing in new interest and volume/price points at current exchanges. Also, the more free votes are used, the less BTC it will cost if we need to boost numbers at some point.

This is a good time to buy up some cheap coins too. I can't imagine the coin staying below 0.00000400 BTC for long, as it is doing a slow creep upwards already on Bittrex.

Look at the depth chart....

Hello Mintcoin coommunity,

I have requested a quote from http://www.coinsforanything.com/ for a custom made Mintcoin. I really like the Mintcoin image, and I have been sitting on a few fun marketing ideas that involve having physical coins to hold and take pictures of. Plus, it would be nice to have one in my pocket.  Smiley

I have a few questions I would appreciate answers to before I would spend any money having these things made in bulk.

1. Is there any community interest in purchasing a high quality, custom made Mintcoin? I have no idea what pricing would be, as I have not yet received a quote back from the above company. But if you could buy one, what would you pay? $9.99? $19.99? The coin I am requesting a quote for would be 3D engraved on both sides, shiny embossed nickel plating, epoxy covering, case... the works. It would be a nice coin about the size of a half-dollar. I imagine it would have good weight to it.

2. Copyright issues. Is the Mintcoin image useable in this way without permission? Do I need permission to use this image on the coin if I am selling the coins to the community? I suppose I wouldn't be "selling" them if I was accepting MINT as payment, since Mintcoin are considered "property" here in the US, I would be "trading" them....interesting.

3. What size would you want if you bought a custom MIntcoin?

The dev team could also do this and list the coins on the main website, and make them purchasable only in MINT. That would be something different. =)

When an android app does arrive, my son would love it if you used this image he and I worked on this evening. I am trying to get him interested in Crypto's so he will learn about our monetary system and new innovations, and so he will naturally integrate them with his interest in digital imaging as he gets older. He's only 11, but boy is he smart! I figure by the time he is in high school, he will be using these things on his phone, so he might as well be one of the ones making the images for them.

I took the picture and told him what I generally wanted, he did the rest.  Cheesy

I told him if people like his works, I will get a wallet address set up for him so he can get tips. Once he realizes he can spend that on stuff, he will be hooked.  Grin
245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *Wallet 1.7, Mandatory update! on: April 03, 2014, 02:06:14 AM
I believe the app should be exclusive to MINT and allow minting on a Android device to be eligible for the bounty

why pay a bounty for an open source development that can be used by competitors? If someone wants to develop a generic PoS wallet that's fine but it is of no particular benefit or interest to me

So I would never be a party to that type of agreement
Agreed, I'm on the same page as you. Mint only, or I won't contribute to a bounty for it.

It is perfectly sensible to keep it closed source from an investor's perspective, at least for long enough to let the exclusivity pump the volume and price floor up a few notches. Release open source only after initial breaking in and high-potential period, and then release it open source while it would still help crypto-coin value increase in general by increasing the usability factor.

I am flabbergasted nobody has been developing an I-phone app, considering APPLE will eventually have to join the club or get left in the dust.

I believe someone previously mentioned having minting capability only when the phone is plugged in. That would be amazing, especially if it played a nice attractive sound every-time you minted.

246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *Wallet 1.7, Mandatory update! on: April 02, 2014, 11:29:36 PM
Although, I am not 100% completely convinced that there was a real security flaw, whatever it was is disruptive to the blockchain, our Mintcoin network, and we needed a fix. I support the dev's quick decision making that whatever that the issue, we needed to change. I just updated to the 1.7 and it seems to be working flawlessly so far. Overall, I am encouraged by the speed at which this community and dev team is able to respond and make fixes as necessary. Everyone is doing a great job. There may be future upgrades that need to be made as well, but at any rate, the future looks bright. Keep up the teamwork!

Everyone upgrade to 1.7 and we can get on with our lives and put this in the past.

Really kind of excited the price is back in my buy range temporarily. This "problem" may just have made me a mint.  Cheesy

"Dear Mintpal Team,

Love your exchange. Was hoping to see CleanWaterCoin added to your vote list. The coin only launched a few days ago and has already raised $1900.00 in charity, and has great potential to be the next big charity coin.

Interesting price gaps on the current swaps/exchanges. Sellers perceive some high value over at

I sure hope real prices reach those levels!

Any news on MINT being added to https://www.vaultofsatoshi.com/?

That should put some wind in the sails.

I was wondering if there were any programmers out there who think they could whip up a completely new face for the wallet? I mean as in the entire wallet looks different from all the generic wallets. Attractive, water themed, perhaps slides for ads/pictures of charity achievements, perhaps gif's of drops of water that drip when you send coins, etc etc. The possibilities are endless. I think an attractive wallet with nice pictures/sounds would attract a lot of people. It would certainly stand out in the crowd.

New wallet designs could be the next huge thing for ascetics programmers. There must be a ton of people around here that can do this. Bounties can be raised if need be!
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin *24 Exchanges *37 Merchants on: April 01, 2014, 06:45:34 PM
I pledge 250K MINT to be paid upon receiving a basic working prototype of Android wallet.

Anyone wanna match me on this?

I can pledge at least 125K MINT at this time. Wish it could be more but the funds I can part with are drying up and I am still planning on donating more to the Mint Foundation.

I can pledge 125K for when a fully functional wallet that mints is deployed.

Im also asking a developer for a twitter bot, maybe i will fund myself alone. is not too much. Smiley

We are better, we are greener we are mint.

I think donations would work much better if there was an escrow account for the bounty, so that if it never went through, people just got their coins back. The only thing is, who wants to put their coins in an escrow account when they could be minting. Perhaps a BTC bounty escrow account?

Official Update: First Donation Made

We pledged to donate 2 BTC from the PLC and to match that donation personally. Today we donated $1,920 to our charity: water Digital Drops fundraising campaign. Because of your support 96 people will get clean water! With your continued support we will be able to save many more lives.

In case you are wondering how we came to the $1,920 amount, 4 BTC x $480 = $1920. We took the current BTC price at the time of the donation.

Excellent! Great work dev team!
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CleanWaterCoin POW+POS | 1st Nonprofit Organization Coin | [Launched] on: April 01, 2014, 04:34:54 AM
I don't know what to say other than we already explained exactly what happened:

Quote
Regarding the 13 btc, that came in from one investor about 30-45 min before launch. Since it was such a large sum they wanted an escrow and we obliged. To be honest, we were so busy prepping for the launch I didn't pay it much attention because I wasn't entirely sure they were serious. We had a good number of BTC come in up until a minute or two before 2 pm PST, which is when the PLC closed. We didn't accept anything after that time, but it did take me an hour our two after launch to finish listing all the info. I don't know how I can prove the 13 BTC came from a legitimate source without revealing the guy's identity, but I absolutely won't do that without his permission. I posted the TX ID and you can see we received that full amount so it's not a trick to retain coins--that would be counter-intuitive. We wouldn't spend all this time and effort to be transparent and then try to deceive users and keep coins.

We don't have 48 BTC, I wish we did. If that was the case we wouldn't have offered any Pre-Launch Coins because we wouldn't have needed any. It's a sad moment to have people drag your name through the mud and make false accusations because of greed. I'm sorry that someone investing caused you to receive less coins but that doesn't make us liars.

So in other words, you are saying that the IPO is here to cover your personal need. Self charity, nice concept indeed, so much for the non profit...

Who said that? Your arguments are so asinine.

This is from the OP:

Quote
Clean Water Coin is a major endeavor and although each of us on the development team has a “day job” we cannot fund this project entirely ourselves. If we could we would. Wherever possible we’ve relied on the skillsets of our team to put in work and reduce the costs, however, there are still hard costs and fees that we could not offset. That is where the PLC comes in. 100% of the BTC invested goes towards the Clean Water Coin Initiative. From development and server fees to marketing and outreach programs. We are not using the IPO as a source of income--that’s what our day jobs are for. So by investing in the PLC you are not only getting Clean Water Coins, but you’re supporting the organization and helping to build a charitable community.

I feel like Frodo right now and the PLC is the ring. I wish it had never come to me.

Basically, someone watched how much was being invested at launch, decided to put a percentage of his or her stash in CWC. All of the BTC made from the coins will go towards keeping the project going, which makes perfect sense. That is how this non-profit works. Once you have the coin up and running, the charity donation come from the volume of sales.

Non-profits will be required to keep detailed public records of all financial transactions. The app for non-profit status puts them under the eye of regulators (who may or may not be effective in policing non-profit start-ups dealing with currency swaps). Buying a portion of the PLC makes no sense, since they (the devs) have all the BTC from the PLC "sales", but lost half their pre-mined coins to people at bargain basement prices compared to what they could have got just from doing what they already said they were going to do, then selling all 10MIL when they were at the peak of the media attention and community fervor. There is no reason for them to have bought 13 BTC of their own coins, at least no reason that makes it worthwhile.

If this coin performs half as well as some others that didn't have the image potential this coin has, I will have made a good investment choice, regardless of my heavily BTC-laden friend who got in under the line.

Moving forward!

The 13 btc PLC purchase after closing of the IPO doesn't look good ....Can the Dev show us the TX id of the deposit into escrow . This would show the time of the purchase and probably make the PLC investors feel better. I do believe this would be simple enough ....Since the big investor may not have purchased before the deadline.  I imagine you checked the time and didn't just take the investment at the other PLC purchasers expense..   In any event if this is not possible, or you screwed up and didn't check. I am glad to be part of this good example of what cryptos can do to better the world in which we live . Best Regards

No PhattyBanks, that is the TX id FROM the supposed Escrow service.

I have checked the blockchain and the 13 BTC came from address 1KCRoV48QzxeXbshRoERhisVy2pD5pPitd at 00:11 on launch day (over 2 hours after the launch)

If this was an Escrow service address, the funds should have been sent to this address a couple of hours earlier from the investor, just before the launch as the devs claim.

The process would look like this:

1) Investor sends TX of 13 BTC to escrow service at (Launch Time minus 30-45 minutes) on March 31st as Devs claim
2) Escrow service confirms with both parties that transaction can proceed
3) Escrow service sends TX of 13 BTC to Clean Water PLC

However, 1KCRoV48QzxeXbshRoERhisVy2pD5pPitd has only ever been used for 2 transactions and the first one was on the 7th of March when address 1L7ncAj9DdQ6gFAykoxsTF8N5whjEvB9G1 sent it 48.36 BTC.

In other words, a wallet with 48.36 BTC made a DIRECT PAYMENT of 13 BTC to the PLC address WITHOUT THE USE OF ANY ESCROW SERVICE.

To make it simpler:

1) 'Anonymous Investor' (Devs) had 48.36 BTC sent to their wallet on 7th March
2) 'Anonymous Investor' (Devs) scammed everyone out of half their coins by sending themselves 13 BTC on 31st March.

If the Devs would like to comment how this could be possible if an Escrow service was in fact used I will be most interested to have it explained to me how funds that HAVEN'T MOVED SINCE MARCH 7TH can be sent DIRECTLY to the PLC without going through any third party address.

Or they could just STOP BULLSHITTING and send everyone the coins they are owed.

If they were smart, they could have moved the funds to another address half an hour before launch, then sent them to the PLC. This would have looked like an Escrow service had been used. Obviously they thought we were all too stupid to catch them out.

Everyone can check this here: https://blockchain.info/address/1KCRoV48QzxeXbshRoERhisVy2pD5pPitd

Blockchain doesn't lie.

No point posting much until this giant wall of red text is addressed well enough to stop more large walls of red text from hijacking the thread. I hope everything is above board, the above post certainly raises some questions, such as what time zone is being shown in the blockchain info. https://blockchain.info/tx/e6958489bf24f2326451e89ce84a6d12c1d3ada58a426068f537a7adfae797d0

(2014-03-31 00:11:10) <------What time zone, and is that received/confirmed/or sent time?

If that's 10 minutes past launch, it makes sense that someone could have SENT the coins before deadline, but it didn't confirm until after deadline, in which case there would be no harm or no foul.

I have not seen a transaction history of an escrow transaction from a new wallet, so I wouldn't know what looked different than a normal wallet transaction, which any third party could use, kind of like a third party escrow agent.

The good news is that the Bittrex price is now at 0.00000649 BTC. Despite a possible IPOGATE, there is much promise for growth still.
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CleanWaterCoin POW+POS | 1st Nonprofit Organization Coin | [Launched] on: April 01, 2014, 12:41:41 AM

I can't find anything indicating that those are dangerous, but I found several links to other threads talking about them because they pop up in lots of mining software. ALL of my wallets manage to set of an alarm and show false positives on multiple different software if I don't lower my security settings for them.

Someone please speak up if I am wrong about the non-threatening nature of the above reported returns.

257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CleanWaterCoin POW+POS | 1st Nonprofit Organization Coin | [Launched] on: April 01, 2014, 12:29:03 AM
I'm not demanding the coins be sent, the investor probably would have dropped coins in either way and what's done is done.  Investor beware.  But I think the folks at CWC may have jeopardized the whole thing with this last minute behind the scenes deal.  The right thing to do would have been to tell the last minute "big money" to invest like everyone else, not give them special treatment that seriously effected the other EXTREMELY faithful investors who are playing by your rules.  It kind of makes you guys look like dicks, and that's not a super great image when you're trying to convince people you're in it for charity.

The whole thing sounds fishy and ruins any sort of transparency and trust you might have had before now.

This whole coin is about Charity and yet all these people complain about is their Investment and how much ROI they're making off it.

LOL

People are here to make money, not to donate to charities. That is the brilliance of a charity coin that follows through with it's promises, it allows people to continue trying to make money and still feel good about it because they know a small portion of their coins goes towards something worthwhile. It gives the coin value, the process value, and sets new exciting precedents in fundraising circles! As long as it is energy efficient and the charity money reaches it's destination and does what it is supposed to do, it is a WIN-WIN for just about everyone involved.

Trade smart and you make money and help others while doing it. There are obviously MORE efficient ways to donate money to charity, but unless you are using your contributions as a tax-write off, you probably aren't doing it for the money. This way, you get a chance for a large return on your investment, and someone will get a little clean water because you tried.

This is a new way to bring money to those who need it by harnessing our desire to get rich quick. =) It really is a high-risk investor's dream come true. If it ends up becoming a "standard" in charity coins and remains stable in the long term, it may become a moderate to low risk investors dream come true as well.

258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CleanWaterCoin POW+POS | 1st Nonprofit Organization Coin | [Launched] on: March 31, 2014, 11:48:16 PM
is there an exchange im missing here? coinswap looks to have had less than .1 volume and bittrex looks like it only had .85 is there another exchange or is everyone holding?

The coin just launched, so most will be holding until a larger exchange sees some action and sets a price floor/ceiling, and/or the first major climb to higher numbers hits. This coin has big potential, so I doubt anyone but the most impatient of miners will sell any significant amount for the chickenfeed prices we are seeing on those above-mentioned swaps.

You got to know when to hold em', and know when to fold em'. Considering we haven't even seen the first press run or even the first big first exchange launch, I think it is obvious what time it is.

Mintcoin needs products and/or a webpage like this:  http://btctrinkets.com/presta2/index.php?

I think the Mintcoin color scheme would look GREAT on a metal coin, and I wouldn't mind sporting some Mint bling.  Smiley

By the way, I think there should be a link for "Merchants" at the top right of the Homepage. I couldn't find the list of merchants from the Homepage itself. It would be good for newcomers to see the longer-than-average list of merchants when they hit the site!
