201  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: IMPORTANT: Ledger ConnectKit Library has been Compromised with a drainer. on: December 14, 2023, 01:56:46 PM
What does this really mean though? Is this the library used by dapps to allow users to connect directly to the Ledger, instead of using MetaMask as an intermediary?  I don't believe I have seen many sites using that lately?
202  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Can you recommend a web wallet other than blockchain.info? No KYC on: December 13, 2023, 03:42:52 PM
TrustWallet seems to be a go to wallet recommendation, is it really good? I've heard that it's a non-custodial one and I want to check it out if it's available on the phone, really helpful stuff if I can store my bitcoins somewhere safe so I'm not different from others here in the forum.

Well, they claim to be noncustodial. We have no way to check whether that's true or not. I do occasionally have some issues with the wallet but nothing major. I wouldn't recommend it for storing any large amount though.
203  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Can you recommend a web wallet other than blockchain.info? No KYC on: December 13, 2023, 10:14:21 AM
As mentioned above, web wallets are probably something you should stay away from but if you want something in your browser, then any extension should do. There are plenty of them: Trustwallet, SafePal, etc. all have browser extensions and support BTC.

Do you have access (meaning control over the private keys) to the wallet that you used for

The first transaction is an incoming transaction, while the second one is outgoing. Did you initiate both?
206  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Gate.io Will Not Allow Certain Cryptos To Leave Exchange? on: December 12, 2023, 06:20:42 AM
I couldn't find a status page to see the current state of deposits and withdrawals, but I did find this (from September):

https://twitter.com/search?q=gate.io%20Bytecoin&src=typed_query&f=live

It looks like there was some kind of maintenance at some point but I doubt that's still the case since I couldn't find more results about this.

This coin is also not listed on any reputable big exchanges, I'd think twice about using it or investing in it.

207  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quite interesting - How long would it take for the average user to achieve Hero? on: December 12, 2023, 04:52:44 AM
You can find the time here[1] but then, of course, you would also need to earn merits so the time below doesn't consider that as it all depends on the quality of your posts. If you were to get the merits before getting the needed activity points to upgrade, you wouldn't need any extra time.

208  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: seed phrase help on: December 10, 2023, 06:26:30 AM
This should be the correct process. Although I'm not sure I understand thr part about you using 4 words plus a letter? What do you mean by that?

When the wallet opens, you should be able to see both transactions and overall balance as long as you're properly connected to a server (see if there's is a green icon on the bottom right side).

210  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Need help on: December 09, 2023, 03:50:37 PM
No, your wallet hasn't been compromised. It depends on what you're trying to do, but I usually just decrease the amount I'm trying to send by a little bit, and it goes through just fine. There are multiple reasons on why you're seeing the error though:

211  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Discussion] Bitcoin Spot ETFs on: December 09, 2023, 11:19:53 AM
It been some time since I last updated this, so here is everything that happened last week:

- VanEck updated its ETF filing and is now using HODL as its ticker.
- Both BlackRock and Bitwise have filed for an update
- SEC Issues “Crypto Investing” Caution, Positive Bitcoin ETF Signal Ahead?
- Fidelity has met with the SEC to discuss their Spot ETF.

As we're approaching the next deadline (Mid-January) do you think any of this is a sign that a Spot ETF will be approved soon?
212  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [List] Gift cards providers on: December 08, 2023, 11:44:29 AM
Maybe they changed something recently.
I am 100% sure they had Google Play gift cards that worked in different countries (Germany for example), but I am checking now and they currently have only US based cards.
Not sure if this was the case with other cards they are offering, or only for Google Play cards.

I guess you misunderstood me. I'm referring to the VCCs (virtual credit cards) and not to the gift cards like Google play and Netflix etc. I know that those are available in different regions, and I believe that's the case for pretty much every provider on the list.
213  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: message Not enough funds. You need to set a lower fee. on: December 08, 2023, 10:33:48 AM
Are you sure you're using the correct unit when sending? mBtc vs BTC? If you're certain, take a look at this article, it might be due to some other reason:

214  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: alternative to coinomi (android) on: December 08, 2023, 08:21:55 AM
There have been responses from the support team over the past year. It is funny that the support team works without an update from the technical team. https://coinomi.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/29000009675-how-much-do-i-have-to-pay-to-use-coinomi-how-do-i-set-fees-
I haven't read many articles, but some of the advice in the above article needs updating.

The article hasn't been updated for a long time, and it's around the same time they started being inactive on their other social media accounts.

I think someone here asked about them not a very long time ago, and I tried to reach out to the support through Telegram IIRC, but there wasn't so much help. It does look abandoned but I'm surprised there are not many complaints about them online.
215  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [List] Gift cards providers on: December 08, 2023, 08:08:29 AM
I think they have different gift cards available in different countries, at least that was the case last time I purchased gift cards from them.
-snip-

Bitrefill? I don't believe so. It's the case for Netflix, Nike, etc. but if you're referring to their VCC then no. Coinsbee does have worldwide cards but unlike Bitrefill, you'd have to verify your identity (as mentioned at the bottom of the page): https://www.coinsbee.com/en/My%2BPrepaid%2BCenter%2BMastercard-bitcoin
216  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I check the blockhain? on: December 05, 2023, 05:58:50 PM
Hello, when I make a transaction, sending or receiving, is it recomended to check if it's valid on the blockchain?
How do I do it?

As mentioned above, you can do it with a block explorer but whatever wallet software you're currently using should give you the number of confirmations, and also link you to the block explorer directly, whenever you receive or send funds.
217  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Will Bitvavo share my BTC holdings with the government? on: December 02, 2023, 11:17:57 AM
I couldn't comment on what you should do since I'm not sure which bank you're using or the country you're from but there are some crypto-friendly banks out there. But if you're expecting it to be this bad and you don't want anyone to know the nature of your transactions, maybe you can go the P2P route and trade with other individuals instead.

Sorry, that was a typo. I meant to say Revolut and not GBP. It has been removed from all currencies.
219  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Revolut bitcoin deposit on: December 01, 2023, 11:59:20 AM
So an update to the above statement. It looks like Binance did remove GBP. Again, I'm unable to find any official announcements, but this has been posted by someone in the Revolut subreddit:
