2001  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can BTC still have any rally before 2020? on: October 03, 2019, 01:21:12 PM
I doubt that there will be any sizeable ones.

The market sentiment is low and will likely remain low until near the halving event, which will not be occurring in May. In the meantime, we could see some corrections for sure potentially down to $7k where the support will be tested.

It's very likely that the bull market will coincide with the end of the 2020 CNY, which seems to be what usually happens as capital start freezing up after festivities end. I wouldn't go long on leverage right now with BTC because of the downside risk, but I think it's a matter of time before a recovery occurs.
2002  Economy / Speculation / Re: New printed money into crypto? How? on: October 03, 2019, 01:08:46 PM
The question is in what way the new printed money will find the Way in to crypto market?

As Property and stock markets are booming gold is going up too we have like new economic fresh start everything is going up but Bitcoin is Still down!

I wondering wich way the New fresh money as euro,  usd and Australian dollar will be invested into cryptocurrency market?

I'm going to assume that you're talking about the Fed's easing of monetary policy, which is the modern definition of central banks "printing new money".

If you're wondering why certain assets have climbed in value as a result of the expanded money supply, but not BTC or cryptos, it's really very simple.

1. There is a window of around a year before monetary policy is actually transmitted into the economy.
2. MP only in theory affects aggregate asset values, but when you look at each individual asset and their price cycles, if an easing in policy coincides with a bearish market sentiment (like crypto is in, right now), then it is absolutely possible that there is no net effect or even continued slip in crypto values.
2003  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: fox.exchange -- Coin to Coin exchange (Like shapeshift but no registration!) on: October 03, 2019, 12:57:07 PM
Simple coin to coin exchange service. Anyone else used this?

My only complaint would be that it shaves off a little more than you expect (just now I was supposed to receive 0.0015 BTC and 0.00003 less was sent :/). Not a big enough deal to contact support / or negative review the site (love it - better than shapeshift imo) just an unexpected 2% less.

At the end of the day, shapeshift have basically lost out on a lot of customers because of the direction it took (probably forcibly, it seems) in regards to forcing people to get accounts and verify themselves.

However, this exchange seems relatively amateurish and has quite few pairs compared to more established exchangers such as changelly and Changenow, while offering similar rates.

While I'm in no way saying that Changelly or Changenow aren't shady entities (they are), if I had to choose, I'd still go with the former 2 given that they've been around longer and have more options.
2004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: if ETH hold above 168, downtrend will be over. on: October 03, 2019, 12:28:42 PM
And is there any TA at all to back this sentiment up? Or is it pure theory out of thin air Roll Eyes

I think that ETH will continue to rally or at least hold its current position trading in relation to BTC, primarily because of the fact that there seems to be a psychological floor at 0.02 BTC which has been proven to be support as prices rebounded as soon as it went under.

I don't think that ETH dictates where the market is generally headed, despite its #2 status. BTC is still the macro indicator right now. ETHUSD should not matter that much in terms of macro analysis.
2005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: OkEx Korea removes all privacy coins on: October 02, 2019, 01:51:34 PM
Five privacy coins including monero, dash, zcash, horizen and super bitcoin are to be delisted from the exchange. Apparently the Korean government has asked crypto exchanges to implement the FATF guidelines which include the travel rule.

It will be interesting to see if exchanges choose to implement TRISA which is CipherTrace's solution to the FATF policy rather than delisting them.

What are your thoughts on this topic?

https://tokenpost.com/Crypto-exchange-OKEx-Korea-to-remove-all-privacy-coins-including-monero-dash-zcash-over-FATFs-travel-rule-3443

It's indicative of a larger trend within crypto, which is the trend of regulation and much tighter restrictions imposed by governments and intergovernment organisations.

That's a part of the reason why people's tastes have shifted towards altcoins which have real life implications as opposed to privacy alone, and also a huge reason why the price of Monero, ZEC, and Dash have continued to slip despite BTC's bull runs earlier in the year.

Don't be surprised if other exchanges, even Binance, start delisting these anonymous coins one by one as they become more "compliant" to international regulations and standards. Unfortunately, this is one of the prices to pay for more matured regulatory measures.
2006  Economy / Economics / Re: Rate cuts money printing inflation on: October 02, 2019, 01:35:23 PM
We all ready see this, prices specially Property rent and buy prices are going higher.

Do You think its coused by inflation?

If so do you think the gold and btc Will be hedge?

I think the assets prices going up in Europe,  USA, Australia Central Banks just started money printing those 3  countries wich i mentioned above

As we Know in canada there is about to start Economic recessions If they dont start rate cuts like USA, EU, AU just did.

Uk Economic situation is 50/50 it can go down.

Do You personally feel that Fiat Currrency losing slowly puraching power?

I do feel that, but the problem is i cant buy groceries food and daily needs with Bitcoin first i have to Exchange my btc to Fiat, so the Bitcoin and gold is Not really Solution for that problem!!

Rate cuts are intended to raise inflation towards the inflation target. That's literally what they are for.

I doubt that a single rate cut would have any real long term detriments. Nor is there really any reason to believe that inflation is caused by rate cuts alone - it can be related also to the velocity of money, the money supply, etc. (but of course, interest rates do play a big part).

In regardsr to your point about losing purchasing power, it's not really anything new. There is a reason why a savings account is not considered to be a good store of value, when it's denominated in fiat. When something doesn't have intrinsic value, it's bound to lose value in the long run (except in deflation).
2007  Economy / Lending / Re: Periodical loans request | Got escrow. on: October 02, 2019, 01:24:40 PM
I don't really understand what you're trying to get at here. So you are offering a yolodice account with money inside as collateral, while asking for more money?

Why not just use the funds in your yolodice account to do whatever you want to do (I hope it's not gambling) instead of asking out further debts? Wouldn't that make everything way easier and you wouldn't have to pay interest?

Also, alexrossi is NOT your guarantor. He is simply an escrow in this case, and it could be misleading if you put it that way.

I'm tring to get more mony. I could excange my btc in ltc or other altcoin as collateral but there is no point. Read the last linked post, if you understand italian you'll see that he guaranted. But true, for me hes just an escrow.

Are you willing to tip on YOLODice? Or does the balance have to stay on your account? If it's the latter, to any potential lenders, please be very careful and ensure that there is no "Master address" set, as YOLODice offers a neat feature that lets you login by signing a message from your master address.

I'll tip the coin only to my escrow, if he get an acc on yolo to avoid fee otherwise i pref to give him the acc. The acc isnt created yet, i'll do it with simple username and password whitout master adres.

I can help you here once alexrossi confirm here that he will pay on your behalf if you get a problem on paying the loan. Please update me once he confirm here

He will repay with my coin that i give him after someone show up accepting my terms. Sure, he will post here a comment when he come online.

If we make this simple enough and just get AlexRossi to be holding the funds as collateral within a separate Yolodice account that he owns, then I'm happy to help you as well.

I honestly don't think that it makes a difference for you whether or not you create the account yourself. But to the lender, you tipping it to the escrow directly would offer much greater peace of mind in terms of who's actually in custody.

Anyways, let me know. I'm happy to help if the above terms are met and you can cover tx fees (since loan amount is so low).
2008  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto-Bridge Just sprung KYC on everyone today - No notice given on: October 02, 2019, 01:14:39 PM
They most likely knew that people would simply pull out their funds if a KYC check was to be conducted, which is the reason why they made no notice of this until very recently, just before the actual KYC system is implemented.

It's unethical in my opinion to give such short notice, while people's funds are still stuck in limbo and at risk.

They should give an option for people to close down their accounts and get their funds back. I doubt there is any regulation explicitly forbidding this. Otherwise, they'll simply destroy the entire brand of "decentralised exchanges" or gateways.
2009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: what will happen if the ethereum price decline continues? on: October 02, 2019, 12:48:48 PM
ETH based tokens would not suffer. The price of ETH has nothing to do with the success of their individual projects.

The reason why ICOs that are based on ETH are suffering is more because of market saturation and the realisation of the wider market that most ICOs are not worth investing into at all. As long as the ETH network exists, and functions, its price should be irrelevant when determining the success of projects that run themselves on it.

Besides, I think that ETH prices have probably bottomed out in the short run anyhow. Nothing to really see here.
2010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Libra Coin bring Down Bitcoin's dominance on: October 02, 2019, 12:38:25 PM
I would implore you to think about who actually uses bitcoin, and who would actually find Libra useful.

They are two very distinct groups of people. One group who actually cares about decentralisation, taking the middleman away from the equation, etc., while the other whose focus is solely on transactional efficiency and globalisation.

Thus, I don't think that Libra will take current bitcoin users away. Sure, there may be some overlap, but it would be negligible and I doubt anyone would leave BTC solely to take on Libra.
2011  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The Hottest Commodity: Virgin Bitcoin on: October 02, 2019, 11:32:44 AM
I am intrigued by the idea of virgin BTC however I don't think it makes sense to pay extra for non tainted money. I would hope there would be an alternative to helping 'clean' or identify the ledger as separate from the owner.

Blockchain forensic companies are likely to be the ones who are going to take precedence on this topic.

Of course there would be a premium, at least on the black market.

Transactions on the blockchain is really an open book, anyone theoretically with the sufficient forensic analysis tool can track where money came from precisely (but since BTC is pseudoanonymous and there is such a large transaction volume, with the use of mixers, it is very difficult to actually carry out).

These newly minted coins have no such trouble. While the intent of those who would want to purchase these coins would undoubtly be questionable, it makes sense that it attracts premiums.
2012  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How to reset portfolio history on Ledger Live? on: October 02, 2019, 11:00:49 AM
I don't think that's possible as it just grabs your transaction history and makes the graph from it.

Maybe create a new wallet? (if it's not an inconvenient option).

Damn okay. Creating a new wallet seems like a trek, since I'd have to migrate all the coins to the new wallet and write down the recovery info, etc. etc.

I would imagine it wouldn't be a difficult fix for Ledger to carry out, if they wanted to add this feature. Every time the user resets they can simply modify the start date of when the transactions start being counted.

But apparently I'm the only one that has this demand Undecided
2013  Economy / Economics / Re: Your favorite Youtube channels about finance and economics? on: October 02, 2019, 12:45:53 AM
I suggest Khanacademy and Jacob Clifford. Sal Khan is extremely good at explaining macroeconomic concepts, issues relating to the GFC, and just gaining a general understanding of economics. Jacob Clifford seems better at microeconomics.

I wouldn't go to sources such as Peter Schiff, Maloney etc. for actual educational content, because they have a vested interest in getting you to buy silver/gold.

Especially Schiff, who has a track record of being a gold bug. And that's definitely not always a good thing.
2014  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-09-23] CEO of largest alternative investment firm vows not to buy bitcoin on: October 02, 2019, 12:34:58 AM
Sounds familiar? Jamie Dimon said basically of the same thing, and he essentially completely reversed his tone as soon as he saw an opportunity to enter the market during the depths of the bear market last and this year.

Don't be surprised if people who are short on bitcoin speak negatively of it, nor when people who are long on BTC shill it like it's the best investment ever and you can buy it at any given point and still make money.

These investors are opportunists, that's what their jobs demand them to do.
2015  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sentiment just hit rock bottom on: October 02, 2019, 12:09:04 AM
We'll likely see further dips, I think. Prices are trading at a near 40% discount from the height of this bull run, and given the resistance at 5 figures, I do think that there will be more downward movement before prices truly recover.

However, it's a good time to start dollar cost averaging - when the rest of the market is screaming sell, it is more than likely a good idea to load up on cheap coins.

After all, these short term volatilities will be negligible in the long run, if that's what you're here for.

2017  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / How to reset portfolio history on Ledger Live? on: October 01, 2019, 11:40:15 PM
On Ledger Live there is a graph at the home page which essentially tracks the value of your portfolio over time held in your ledger.

While this is a very useful feature, I'm not sure how one would go about resetting these statistics and start from scratch. I couldn't find any answers online. Would you just have to wait a year (which is the maximum amount of time the graph tracks)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
2018  Economy / Speculation / Re: is the market building up towards another bog FOMO? on: October 01, 2019, 11:33:16 PM
I doubt that a sizable pump due to FOMO will come at any time soon. FOMO only really occurs when the market is excited and sentiment is high, while it is pretty much the opposite of what is going on right now.

In due course though, there will be a resurgence of bullish sentiment.

I just think that it'll be at least until near the halving that it would happen, if BTC does follow its previous cycles.
2019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are the factors you look into when diversifying your crypto portfolio? on: October 01, 2019, 12:38:58 PM
People get the idea of diversification twisted somewhat.

Simply put, just because you invest in more coins doesn't necessarily mean that your portfolio is diversified or is all of a sudden a lot safer.

You'd have to look at a wide range of factors. Risk-return profiles of each coin (small, mid, or large cap?); sector in which the coin operates in (is it ICO'd, is it a token, is it a coin?); and the geographic location of the coin's development team.

Only if you address all of these factors will you be able to reduce risk. If not, you might as well just pick a single coin and run with it.
2020  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which betting type gives you the most payout? on: October 01, 2019, 12:19:00 PM
The only way that you can get +EV in the long term is if
a) you have some sort of model that is proven over time through empirical means OR
b) you conduct arbitrage betting

Intuition would tell me that moneyline betting would be result in the most payout, because generally the books have the most liquidity when it comes to moneyline and other side bets generally have less liquidity and thus, higher spreads by the bookmaker. Obviously it would differ on a case to case basis, though.
