2001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: March 13, 2017, 11:34:17 AM
yeah they are pumping everything? more people into crypto maybe? well fuck fiat world i hope everyone come abroad in the crypto world, if that happen you would see at least 10x current profit if not 100...

Thats why you should keep some of the coins you mine. If you always dump, you will miss profit..

i'm still holding lbry btw, and some other, but too many is dangerous, not all of them get a pump

ok, i'm experience a strange bug or something, don't know how to call it, when at launch of the miner, some gpu don't run, it happen randomly, other time it go right and all gpu begin to hash

btw can you add solo mining? only stratum is supported currently
2006  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: excavator - multi-algorithm advanced NVIDIA CUDA miner [1.1.0a] on: March 13, 2017, 08:58:52 AM
is -ca -ca exactly like running -cd 0 0 1 1 etc...?
2007  Economy / Economics / Re: Mining fees will eventually kill bitcoin on: March 13, 2017, 07:02:05 AM
Transaction fees are a necessary part of Bitcoin and without them, Bitcoin would lose it's most useful, unique properties and thus, it's value.

The resources required to facilitate censorship-proof transfer of value and a seize-proof store of value are quite expensive.

Since the dawn of Bitcoin, this cost was paid for through inflation (new coins entering the market through the coin base reward were given to those who used resources to secure the network).

At time passes, the inflation rate (supply of new coins) continues to be cut in half (so that Bitcoin isn't constantly inflating at a rate which would erode it's value).

Yet, the network still has costs to maintain.

Transaction fees paid for by those who enjoy Bitcoin's properties will slowly take the place of the coin base reward as a means to pay for the security of the network.

As more people come to value Bitcoin's unique properties, there will be more competition to have transactions written into the permanent ledger in a timely manner, and fees will increase.

Some users have grown used to the block reward subsidy paying for the utility which Bitcoin provides and will have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the future if they want to continue to enjoy Bitcoin's unique and useful properties.

are we sure that a currency need fee? couldn't be done in another way i see that there is this coin called railblock, that has no fee for miners that only need to act when doing a transaction(not continuos mining)

the distribution is based on captcha there, not the best one i guess, it can be improved, but still transaction are confirmed instant and there is not a single fee
2008  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Start Mining nowdays. on: March 13, 2017, 06:52:48 AM
Save yourself the trouble mate and just buy the coins directly. Much better investment, believe me Wink
No, I don't agree with that.  If the OP has free electricity, mining is still a pretty good investment.  Electricity is generally what separates amateurs from professionals but if his situation is good he could get ROI within a couple of years.

still even with free electricity you need to invest and asic ain't cheap, or he have free asic too? it's better to invest in bitcoin than waiting 1 year for roi, with bitcoin as of now there is a huge chance of another pump, which would make you profit a ton more than mining

and i don't believe he have free electricity, usually this mean two thing, stealing, or already paid in his rented house or something
2009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The benefits of bitcoin payouts for the gaming industry on: March 13, 2017, 06:43:15 AM
Bitcoin is so beneficial in game industry, it can improve the purchasing features so having a BTC as a payment method can help a lot to both user and app owner to have a smooth and fast transaction. Just a few clicks and copy paste and then you are done.

i don't remember but with steam introducing bitcoin i didn't see an increase in purchase int heir platform because of that? simply those that were using only debit card are now using bitcoin too

blizzard for example should really accept bitcoin for their winning tournement or for internal purchase, the same can be said about gog

there was tons of benefits for gambling industry using bitcoin as the payment and this article was so interesting indeed with bitcoin the casinos could get the consumers from whole of the world without any trouble because for the casinos more costumers means more chance to get profit and using bitcoin also had low fees for each transactions rather than other currency

gambling industry is not really gaming, it's another sector, i could agree that bitcoin there is more prominent
2010  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin wallet recommendation on: March 13, 2017, 06:39:41 AM
i recommend core, the best for me, you can download the blockchain once and then do good with prune to 4GB or higher to have the possibility to use more than one wallet in a certain time frame

last version has a very fast syncing it also tell you the exact estimate in minutes for the syncing time, so don't worry about that
2011  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and the whole Cryptocurrency market: UPUPUPUP? Reality-check! on: March 13, 2017, 06:37:13 AM
Look at the market capitalization of the entire cryptocurrency market and the market capitalization of Apple.
The entire crypto system is worth less than 1/3 of Apple. That is cause for a reality check. We really have a long way to go.

still this isn't a reason for the value to get better, if you compare bitcoin to stocks, there are many stocks that didn't get anywhere and just remaining a niche, you need to factor this in the equation

only because something has potential it doesn't mean it will succeed, also i believe that altcoin are in worse position, i would not expect much from them
2012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.14.0 Released on: March 12, 2017, 09:52:02 PM
probably the wallet is partially corrupted now, some times it crash other times no, i tried with another wallet and it work fine

i think this happened when i installed the new nvidia drivers and the system crashed because there was a game opened, and i was forced to shut down everything and restart

2013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.14.0 Released on: March 12, 2017, 08:24:27 PM
something wrong, some times the client crash on startup when i manage multiple wallet, especially when i delete one and put the other instead of it, never happened with other release...

talking about fair launch....this is worse than ico... also the block reward is too small versus the total supply

ridiculous statement. network hash is still low.. i am solo mining with 1 card and finding blocks.

reward should be low, because total supply is low  Kiss

sure with 3k block mined, but reward should not be just low, should be proportional to the supply

bitcoin has the best proportion 21M/50 per block, 420k/1, here you have 7M/1...

2016  Economy / Speculation / Re: ladies and gentlemen we are above $1100 now! on: March 12, 2017, 06:53:02 AM
It has proven that there are more enthusiasts bitcoin user that appear and the number keep on rising and if the etf being approved we will see another price rising again and bitcoin will become more popular and will become more valuable and my prediction it can passed 2000$ this year

The ETF was not approved, but the price of bitcoin did not drop much. The altcoins are rising fast.

altcoin are not rising, the only one that is rising is dashcoin, but the pump started long before the EFT fiasco, i don't think there is any connection between them

but there are chance that someone dumped his bitcoin just to jump on the dash train, and therefore i believe that this last crash was not exclusively caused by the EFT alone
2017  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin benefit of saving for a long time? on: March 12, 2017, 06:45:21 AM
why so many people store their bitcoin in their wallet for a long time, whether the benefits will they get?

Come share your thoughts

Most of us think that there is potential for a long term gain in value for Bitcoin. We're less than 10 years into it's existence, so I think there is an upside to it but there is a risk as well.

Holding bitcoins for a very long term can be really risky as we don't know what will be the price in future or how long it will exist so its better to sell them when its allowing you to make profits and buy them back when price goes down and saving them for certain level of time is a right thing but not permanently.

that is a common misconception, bitcoin has the same chance to collapse as any bank out there or the whole fiat economy, which is more at risk to collapse than bitcoin, currently

the idea that nothing is safe apply to everything and has not greater value on bitcoin, bitcoin value is also backed by miners, not for any reason the price is increasing within each halving...

in conclusion i see no higher risk holding bitcoin than holding my fiat in bank account...while the potential to grow for bitcoin far exceed anything else
2018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would there be just one cryptocurrency? on: March 12, 2017, 06:40:28 AM
you have some major mistakes. in my opinion.
- bitcoin was never supposed to be a store of value. it was always meant to be a digital cash, and i believe this is one of the reasons it is being adopted. if it becomes just an investment that means we are trading numbers on our screen and that is pointless in my opinion.

Then bitcoin was not well designed for this task.   No single block chain can do that ; but moreover, then there shouldn't have been a finite number of bitcoins, there shouldn't have been block reward halvings, there shouldn't have been any block size limits.  All these things lead you to a purely speculative asset.  People don't pay groceries with paintings of Picasso of which there are only a finite number ever.  And with 2-3 transactions at most per second, transactions becoming a finite resource, that's not possible either for a fluid currency.

Bitcoin has *all the right aspects* to become a very expensive reserve currency kept in vaults and only transacted in very big amounts.

21M bitcoins is a lot of bitcoins when you can divide them down into mBTC, uBTC, and Satoshis.

21M is plenty to use for a payment system - especially since the code was released open source making it easy for anyone to create a new crypto-currency if bitcoins did become too scarce.

I do not think Satoshi ever intended Bitcoin to be the only implementation. In fact I seem to remember that he asked for others, resulting in namecoin, before he went on walkabout.

Creating the digital currency everyone in the world would use was not his goal.

the first point is true only if bitcoin value is very high that it's submultiples would have a decent value worth to be considered

by creating a new crypto you mean forking or altcoin? the first will not happen, the second is already there...
2019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How the fork will happen if a fork happens on: March 12, 2017, 06:37:29 AM
Fork does NOT mean Split

please stop using the word "fork" in a context that implies it means split because it really doesn't. it is a possibility that can be a side effect of forking.

- i don't usually get involved in block size related arguments but it really makes me mad when people do this!

There will be a split. What happens to the blockchain fork that does not accept blocks > 1 MB is anyone's guess, I do not believe it will survive, but unless close to 100% of the hashing power is on board with BU there will be a split if the hard fork takes place, make no mistake about it.

the consensus is set at 95% for a reason, it's to prevent regression to the old fork, it mean that if an hard fork happen because we reached the proper consensus

the other chain will simply result in an altcoin, and the only remaining one will be the one that matter, i dunno why there is still someone who believe that we would end up with two active bitcoin chain...

yes the other chain might have a value but that is an altcoin story there...
2020  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: bitcoin achieve maximum prices on: March 12, 2017, 06:33:55 AM
scammers will emerge more not only because of the price, but because bitcoin is become more and more rare, that is true, now to have the same amount of coins you need to work very hard, this will lead to more people trying to steal

but if you keep them locally in your cold storage and not on exchange or in your online machine, nothing bad can happen
