Even with 75 kW you would think OP could sell it back to the power company since he's already hooked up to the grid. I suppose it's possible the power company produces such a surplus of energy that they just don't want to buy... but I can't imagine they wouldn't be selling any surplus off to other regions. Maybe it's more accurate that the OP just doesn't want to sell because of the rates the power company buys it... but that doesn't fit either since original plan for this power was to drive some irrigation equipment, so any profit made from selling would be more than they were planning to get. So, either it's a troll or OP didn't do a very good job explaining his situation ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) If this is real OP, and assuming you're converting into AC from those cells, make sure you convert into 208/220/240V and not 110/120V. Miners will thank you.

doesn't coinbase have an option to make multiple users confirm the payout to a certain person?
Also I believe in the bitcoin code there is something like that a multi-input option where after a certain group of people confirm, the payment will be sent.
Pretty much a majority wins thing.
I know its just you and ck, but it might make it harder for an address to be compromised.
Multi-signature addresses are what you're describing. Those are addresses that start with a 3. @philipma1957 - you're proposing that people either use the BTC address part of their profile, or to put what you did in their "other contact" slot, right? I'll keep my solo club address in my BTC address on my profile as it is currently because the nice folks running the bit-x signature campaign require me to put my bit-x address in the other contact info portion of my profile.

Hi, everyone. My name is Rafael; handle is Rafagon. I've lived in Miami, FL almost all my life but was born in Madrid, Spain. My interests include retro gaming on OS X, studying foreign languages, and I would like to try my hand at iOS app development sometime soon. I majored in Computer Science and minored in French back in college (many years ago).
I'm a total Bitcoin newbie but I have been able to get the first couple of steps taken care of. I have created my Bitcoin wallet, and I chose Blockchain.info for that.
I've chosen MacMiner as my OS X Bitcoin mining app.
I don't want to be in a "pool"—I want to go solo.
I want to mine SHA-256 (for Bitcoins). I have a 27-inch iMac from Late 2009, Intel Core i7 (quad-core) running at 2.8 GHz, 8 GB RAM, and my graphics card is the ATI Radeon HD 4850 with 512 MB of RAM.
Every time I click on MacMiner to start Mining, I keep getting a pop-up telling me that my miner was restarted automatically after a sudden stop at hh:mm:ss. I'm not sure what I've done wrong. This pop-up keeps complaining every 10 or 15 seconds.
If anyone has the time to provide me with some pointers for Bitcoin mining with this app, I would really appreciate it. If my selection of an app to begin Bitcoin mining on OS X is a horrible one, please let me know as well!
Anyone who reads this can feel free to inbox me here on the forum to continue in private messages, or reply publicly here.
Thanks in advance,
Rafagon
You're a few years too late to the party to mine with a CPU/GPU. Sorry to break that news to you. You're doing nothing but wasting electricity.

What ?? I talked to you many times about that issue . why you answered now ? after 24 days running I spent more than 10 btc renting from nicehash without no reply about my stuck bestshare . so now my bestshare freezed since last block ( 17,464,448,589.77 ) Okay now what is my real best share and what is high best share until now ?
PrivacyBTC, we never said that best share is freezed. Yes, we've replied to you many times but you're not paying enough attention, please read our answers and replies carefully. Best share was not freezed it's just that it hasn't been reset after the last block was found. However, as you can see, best share is changing, but only if it increases (if you get a higher best share). Please also read "What is Best Share?" at https://solo.nicehash.com/faq.htm. Thanks. My best share 17 b since 25 days also this not for this pool as u said This best share for last block . like user who solved last block he and me have previous best share . Now how can i know my best share while u said it wasn't reset since last block. Thanks What does it really matter? Unless you've gotten a share above the network difficulty of 48.8G, which you'd know because ~25 BTC would end up in your wallet, the data is irrelevant. Is it some kind of bragging right? Sure, it's fun to see, but it offers no value other than some psychological comfort.

still screams in my house! but mostly the fan is at 40%
@TS: don't buy the 2880w psu! screams even louder than sp10!
You've still got one of those bad boys? The very first thing out of the little lady's mouth when I powered up my SP10 for the first time was - she was sitting outside on the back porch and I was downstairs in the basement - she comes running in and says, "Is that screeching coming from your new miner??? You're freaking kidding me, right?" With the fans at 40% at least we couldn't really hear it unless we went into the basement. At 80% or above we could hear it outside.

You're welcome. Thanks to philipma1957 mostly though - he's running the show, I'm just pushing the "Send" button at the end of it.
True... I should have written, "thank you for providing the funds that support this contest, and for pushing the 'Send' button at the end of it." ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Phil definitely goes way above and beyond ... between these contests, the work he's done with the ck solo club, multiple hardware reviews... definitely a very valuable member of the community.

Guys, literally a couple of posts above you ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) It's all good, relax. OMG... like I have time to look up a whole 2 posts to see things like that!!! ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) Kidding of course. By the way, thanks for running the contest suchmoon.

Need to know about this, want to get involve into it. How it goes and how much do you earn? which company as well.
There are a ton of sites that have referral and/or affiliate programs. Cloud mining sites, faucets, rental sites, some hardware vendors. You refer people to them... they get extra business and you get a bit of a reward. Please note... you can't go around spamming referral links here. You'll get your posts deleted and you'll eventually be banned for it.

We just have to hope that bitcoinwisdom is back before the next adjustment, since it was originally decreed as the decider of the outcome, right? Aside from the predictive aspects, is there any other website that captures adjustment information?
Once the adjustment happens every single connected Bitcoin node on the planet has the new difficulty. Getting the information would be exceedingly easy. Current difficulty has been posted a number of times in the thread, so comparing old vs new and obtaining the percentage difference is trivial, I would think ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) .

I saw that same thing and was like "I'm certainly not trying to hack anything... I'm on a conference call with a client for the love of pete!"

Ya I'm greeeeen but got it and then I forwarded my domain name raintowers.com to it and that worked too! I'm just running it on ubuntu. Don't know what I opened myself up to with regards to security blabla .
Well, you obviously figured out how to open up port 9332 to the world, and how to assign a domain name to that IP address... so you're good there. As far as other ports are concerned... 9333 - p2pool peer network. Sets you up as a good p2pool citizen and allows for lots of inbound/outbound connections. The better connected your node, the better the chances shares/blocks you find end up being accepted. 8333 - BTC peer network. Pretty much the same as above, except only BTC traffic.

Congratulations on getting your own node up and running ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) .

done!
but i was hopping we would not have to do this! addresses should have remain at pm level where is the security and intimacy in this? i wanted to suggest closing and deleting this thread, but now....
Thanks maverick. The reason we're doing it this way is for transparency. Having the BTC address attached to your profile insures that there's no scamming going on. Nobody can inject a fake user with a bogus BTC address this way. Too many times we've all seen people get ripped off because somebody created an account very similar to another. Here we track your user profile (which you can't change) and a BTC address attached to that profile. In all honesty, if I were running this, I'd make you sign a message with that BTC address - an address I can verify by looking at your user profile - quoting a PM from me. Heck, I'd probably make you PGP sign it, too ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) . Here's the updated list: @BitcoinPappi please add a BTC address to your profile. went back and found alternate list there are a few more in pm's to me 11) valkir 12) RoadStress 13) wlefever 14) amerikansjc 15) alh ? 16) stevej 17) page14 18) icey 19) jthor Here's the alternate list... So we have 10 original members and 9 in the alternate list.

I tried a few, and I am getting ~4$/mo with one U3...unfortunately this does not make it worthwhile. Meaning my initial theory about me being too late in the game is true, so far it does not look like this is a viable option to make some money. ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) This. If you're looking at getting into mining to make money, you're certainly going to need more than a few GH/s and university housing. For example, I have 8 Antminer S3s at my home. At ~3.5TH/s I would expect to earn about $8.50 a day with free electricity. Unfortunately, my electricity is not free, so my earnings are offset by that cost.

Yes, it's possible to calculate the hash by hand... painful, but certainly possible. I was talking about the OP's statement regarding brain ASIC chips...

Thanks for the replies! I have provided 2 screenshots of my results after leaving my laptop to mine overnight. After reinstalling MuliMiner, my hashrate didn't drop, but my worker kept going on/off (see #2) - still trying to figure it out ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) (my guess is the heat - laptop is forcing itself to cool before beginning to work again) 1) http://imgur.com/QNmT1Py2) http://imgur.com/LFxRGusI appreciate the advice of not going with BFL - I have found an Antminer U3 (~60GH/s) that I will look into. To answer some of your questions: -I am mining bitcoin -No I am not trolling you, I live on university campus and don't pay for electricity. I will be here until Apr 2016 so I figured I'd have something running 24/7 while I'm at school -As mentioned, I am merely familiarizing myself with the software, pools, and everything about BitCoin Mining, hence using my laptop. Once I figure things out, I will purchase an ASIC miner (USB ideally) and start mining. For a newbie, would that be a good miner to start with? I saw some USB ASIC miners that advertise ~1GH/s but pricewise it is better to go with the ~60GH/s one (at least IMO) Thanks again for your replies! ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) The screenshots and the results they show are fine. Your laptop is not cooling down and then starting again. Slush's pool has a minimum share difficulty that it accepts and it estimates your hash rate based upon how many accepted shares you've submitted. Your GPU basically can't keep up with the minimum share requirements, so Slush shows starts/stops. As for mining at university, you definitely want to go with the smaller units (like the U3) simply because of noise/heat. Most university living quarters aren't exactly spacious. Understand that you're going to earn virtually nothing doing this (currently about $4.00 a month with a U3)... but don't let that stop you from having a bit of fun with it ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) .

what? BTC mining with brain, send me mining equipments we can do partnership 50-50% lol
serious question- Is it really possible?
What do you think they were doing in the Matrix? LOL. Serious answer - no.

The brain is a powerful computer/asic. Would you use it to mine btc for 1 btc a day? I know of a company that develops brain asic chip--and it is not 21 Inc.
LOL... I've only got two brain cells and they're so busy waving to each other that they don't have time to do anything else ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

In an effort to just speed things up... I've compiled the list of the original 10 members of the ck solo club. If the user's profile does not have a BTC address, that is noted. @BitcoinPappi and @mavericklm please add BTC addresses to your profile.
