20901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin & Shopping on: April 03, 2014, 07:10:32 AM
Quick question for those more familiar: I know that more and more merchants are accepting bitcoin but is there anyone out there who is working on or has established a bitcoin marketplace yet?

There used to be one. Bitmit.

But they closed down a few months ago.
20902  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHITE HOUSE PETITION! STOP THE IRS! MAKE A DIFFERENCE! on: April 03, 2014, 07:08:52 AM
Pay your taxes. IRS regulation is better than no regulation at all.
20903  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-04-01] This could be the end of the Bitcoin era on: April 03, 2014, 07:07:49 AM
Price could go below 0....
I will pay you to take away my BTC.

lol.... the more it gets closer to 0, that much better for me. I can buy more BTCs and then resell them for $1K each.
20904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else depressed by all these alts? on: April 03, 2014, 07:05:37 AM
Hey bryant.coleman, I'll stick to BTC  Grin  You Too?  Grin

I have some LTCs and NMCs with me. But 98% of my crypto assets are in BTC.
20905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else depressed by all these alts? on: April 03, 2014, 06:26:27 AM
Every day a dozen or more new shitcoins are being created. At this rate, by the end of the year, we'll be having 5,000 different shitcoins.
20906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A recent Wall Street Journal article about $1 Million = 1 BTC possibility! on: April 03, 2014, 06:23:23 AM
VERY few people will be holding a lot of Bitcoins.  Even at today's prices, very few people have the majority of the coins.

I tend to disagree. According to the latest estimates 47 people hold around 30% of all the coins in circulation.

20907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Island on: April 03, 2014, 06:21:48 AM
Check this:

Quote
Under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea treaty (UNCLOS), artificial islands are not considered harbor works (Article 11) and are under the jurisdiction of the nearest coastal state if within 200 nautical miles (370 km) (Article 56). Artificial islands are not considered islands for purposes of having their own territorial waters or exclusive economic zones, and only the coastal state may authorize their construction (Article 60); however, on the high seas beyond national jurisdiction, any "state" may construct artificial islands (Article 87).

A little bit of hope for us!!!
20908  Other / Off-topic / Re: Amazon unveils Fire TV $99 set top box as rival to Google and Apple on: April 03, 2014, 06:16:14 AM
The resolution is quite good, at 1,080 p. But they shouldn't have made the gaming accessory separate from the main device.
20909  Other / Off-topic / Re: Buy rainforest? on: April 03, 2014, 06:10:28 AM
Poison tipped spears, and they hide while you are standing with a gun ready to die.
Now you are dead...RIP....and they have a gun.
Be careful, it's a jungle out there.

Even against the 18th century muskets, the poison tipped spears and arrows were of no use. To exterminate the 20,000 strong Botocudo tribe, the Portuguese needed just a few dozen men, each armed with nothing more than muskets and swords. The death ratio was around 1:10,000

On the otherhand, the natives of US (such as the Comanche) had more success against the invaders.
20910  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [Weed Like to Talk - Bulgaria] Start a wave of cannabis seminars in Europe on: April 03, 2014, 06:07:04 AM
The EU parliament should take steps to legalize the sale and possession of marijuana. If tobacco can be legal, then cannabis also should be made legal.
20911  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Christian school complains 8-year-old girl isn't girly enough on: April 03, 2014, 06:05:19 AM
Sometime it is hard to know which religion is more stone age-minded. Christianity and Islam competing against each other.  Grin
20912  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Maastricht locals complain of rise in street dealers following "pot tourism" law on: April 03, 2014, 06:03:55 AM
Prohibiting marijuana is a retarded step. Criminalizing the possession of heroin, lsd.etc is understandable, as they cause health problems.
20913  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Global Chinese surveillance satellite spurred by missing airlines flight MH370 on: April 03, 2014, 06:01:27 AM
With so many satellites orbiting the earth isn't it strange that none of them got an image of the MH 370 during its 6-hour flight?
20914  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to make a lot money online? on: April 03, 2014, 05:53:52 AM
This, especially Ritz Grand Casino.

They are not accepting Newbies and Junior Members. So unless you've registered with BT a few months ago, you won't be having much luck with sigs.
20915  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everybody should be signing this White House Petition for Virtual Currencies on: April 03, 2014, 05:44:02 AM
Nope, if we signed that petition all transaction in the US will be monitored and controlled

What is the problem with that, unless you use your coins for buying / selling illegal stuff? I welcome the regulation.
20916  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you get into bitcoin? on: April 03, 2014, 05:42:52 AM
I first heard about the BTC in 2011, but never took it seriously. Got my first BTCs only in 2013 January, after my friend compelled me to collect some.
20917  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Would you buy Japanese Chocolate With Crypto-Coins? on: April 03, 2014, 05:41:29 AM
Looks like the price was changed, still for $1.70 i could just go to the next store and buy 2 55g bars easily, but that might be because swiss and beligium are neibours Wink

The Swiss and Belgian varieties are not as exotic as the Japanese ones. If you want to try out the Japanese chocolate, then you'll have to dish out a few bucks more. (Will make more sense to chocoholics).
20918  Other / Off-topic / Re: Celebration when price hits 420 on: April 03, 2014, 05:38:46 AM
I have just placed some buy orders at $150 to $200, at $10 intervals. If there is any sudden, short dip happening in BTC-E, then I'll be hitting the jackpot.  Grin
20919  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Crimea on: April 03, 2014, 05:35:34 AM
Nope, current salaries and social payment indexation plan is 25% per month.

So it'll be only a gradual rise, and may take up to 2 years time.  Grin
20920  Bitcoin / Press / [2014-04-03] SiliconAngle : The San Jose Quakes to become the next sports team on: April 03, 2014, 05:30:06 AM
http://siliconangle.com/blog/2014/04/02/the-san-jose-quakes-to-become-the-next-sports-team-to-accept-bitcoin/?angle=silicon

Let's not worry about the exchange rates. They are only temporary. With BTC gaining more and more acceptance, we won't have to worry about the exchange rates any more!

Dave Kaval, President of the San Jose Earthquakes, just told the world on SiliconANGLE’s TheCube that his team will be accepting bitcoin with the upcoming soccer season. Soccer fans can expect to use the virtual currency for anything from the merchandise store as well as tickets to see games.
