21861  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your thoughts on when BTC will reach $1000 again? on: December 29, 2013, 03:12:53 PM
The recent spike was due to the enormous interest from the Chinese investors. They have mostly offloaded their stake. So now we have to wait for another spike from some other nation... may be India, may be Indonesia, or may even be some Latin American nation.
21862  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-12-22 ZD Net - CryptoLocker's crimewave: A trail of $$$ in laundered BTCs on: December 29, 2013, 03:09:58 PM
Right is right, wrong is wrong.  This blaming victim mentality is always misguided to say the least.

I'd agree. It is not the fault of the users that their anti-virus was not able to detect the trojan. Whatever be the case, I am not going to support the Cryptolocker crooks. That is, even if the victims are careless in their actions.
21863  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-13-28 The China Post - Taiwan competitors aim to capitalize on Bitcoin ... on: December 29, 2013, 03:07:30 PM
So far we haven't received any concrete assurances from the Taiwan Central Bank. So I'd be rather cautious.
21864  Bitcoin / Press / Re: This is not exactly approval from Goldman-Sachs, but it's getting close... on: December 29, 2013, 03:06:12 PM
You think that this is a positive news? I don't think so. Goldman is trying to destroy Bitcoin, from the inside.  Huh
21865  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-27-12] India cracks down on bitcoin exchange on: December 29, 2013, 03:03:56 PM
Yeah , on paper...
I saw through the last years the myth of the BRICS falling apart.
China with is fake numbers and currency manipulation , Russia with its' citizen running away to Europe, India with hundreds of thousands of people starving each year, Brazil who can't afford both  a world championship and normal healthcare and South Africa which in 30 years will have more people infected with HIV than healthy.

Well.... some of the facts are true. The others are not.

1. Chinese Yuan is getting stronger every day, whether it is due to currency manipulation or not.

2. Russian citizens are not running away to Europe. They were, until 4 or 5 years ago. Right now, Russia is having a positive net immigration.

3. Millions of people are starving in India. But things will change if the opposition is voted in to power in 2014.

4. Brazil is a lawless country, where you can cut down forests and massacre the indigenous tribals without any consequences. So no comments.

5. South Africa has suffered from massive brain drain and crime wave. Not going to be one of the top economies in the future.
21866  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-27-12] India cracks down on bitcoin exchange on: December 29, 2013, 02:24:10 PM
Change the title to India cracks on illegal bitcoin exchange.

Also , nobody cares about them and their 2 BTC volume.

That is negative attitude. You can't blame the Indians for the actions of its corrupt government, although they were the ones who elected it to the office.

And another thing. Although the current volumes from India is microscopic... don't forget that India is having a population of 1.3 billion and is one of the most rapidly growing economies in the world.  Cheesy
21867  Economy / Lending / Re: seeking loan (45,000usd in btc) fully secured against real estate on: December 29, 2013, 02:18:18 PM
80 acres of land in Pueblo is not likely worth 100,000 USD.  if it has access to ditch water or an irrigation well it might be but raw ground in pueblo is often worth less than 500 USD per acre.

There are no known banks who will lend money (or bitcoin) for this open buildingless ground.

In the fist post you said that the plot was having a well and most of it was irrigated.
21868  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoins ruined my life on: December 29, 2013, 02:16:07 PM
OP don't be shy, buy $10 worth of btc every week, or whatever.

$10 a week means only $520 worth of BTC per year. A bit low. You can multiply it 10x.
21869  Economy / Speculation / Re: Effects of China and India News on BTC Price on: December 29, 2013, 02:14:50 PM
More than 50% can't afford a single satoshi let alone a bitcoin.

I don't understand what you mean!

1 Satoshi is equal to $750 / 100,000,000  = $ 0.0000075

Are you sure that people can't afford it?

21870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you really think governments will allow a 500 billion dollar crypto-economy? on: December 29, 2013, 02:11:57 PM

This means that the real value of US Dollar will decline by somewhere around 8% to 10% on a year-to-year basis until 2020.
21871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Slovenia: No Capital Gains Tax on Bitcoin on: December 29, 2013, 02:10:05 PM
I have heard you can get Cambodian citizenship for around $75,000.

No idea how their taxes work.

The easiest option might be Rwanda. And there is no income tax as well.

But if you are serious, then Dominica / St. Kitts / St.Vincent is a good option. Visa-free travel to 150+ nations!

Welcome to the wonderful world of scam coins

99% of the people here have been scammed at least once. I myself lost half of my coins in BTCT.
21873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goldman Sachs Director to Join Board of Bitcoin Startup Circle on: December 29, 2013, 02:05:09 PM
This is like putting Amon Goeth the president of the Jewish National Fund. I don't trust Michele Burns. A hard core Democrat and one of the patrons of the EMILY's List. The Bitcoin community will be much better without her.
not sure why CoinDesk is cheering this on.  I find their reporting to be biased and commercially influenced.  Seems to be going after a model something like TechCrunch, as in, look like the most credible source of information on a technology, and then companies pay them to feature their products/platforms in a favorable light.  It's possible that Goldman Sachs might have done just that to get the right PR they were looking for.

I had noticed the biased nature of Coindesk many weeks ago and have posted here multiple times about it. Just check their coverage on the China issue.
21874  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin really need to *Replace* Fiat? on: December 29, 2013, 02:02:56 PM
If government gets in the way of the world, side with the world.

In a democracy, the majority opinion works, even if it is doctored. If the majority of the population views Bitcoin favorably, then nothing can stop Bitcoin. Not even the government. But as of now, a large part of the population is staying away from it, due to well known reasons (theft of coins, hacking, volatility.etc)
21875  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obama on NSA spying on: December 29, 2013, 02:00:43 PM
As omg as they're paying for it, it's not a big deal.  Real problem is the cost of healthcare itself, from what I can see.  Used to be that docs took a vow of poverty, now they get a business degree as a minor in business.  Add that to unneeded machines, admin-CEO salaries, pharmacy lobbyists and giving kickbacks to docs for signups to new meds......

The cost of healthcare in the US / EU is astronomically high, due to the following reasons:

1. Medical insurance companies act as a third party, rising costs by default.

2. Doctors are in short demand, and the average wage is around $25,000 per month (compared to $1,200 for the same sector in Russia and Eastern Europe).

3. Medical patents are respected in the US / EU, unlike some countries such as Brazil and Botswana.

21877  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin really need to *Replace* Fiat? on: December 28, 2013, 05:03:47 PM
Bitcoin will not replace fiat, no matter how popular it becomes. However, there is a possibility that it will replace payment processors like Paypal and remittance providers such as Western Union.

Was 2 FA enabled on your BTC-E account? If so, was your email account hacked too?

Love the healthcare though

Yeah... wait for a few years until all the illegal aliens destroy the public healthcare system in the US. That's the difference between Obamacare and Romneycare.
