Introducing CYPHER STAMPS by CYPHER POSTAGE

I have been a stamp collector for over 40 years. Once I became a physical bitcoin collector, I always wanted to see someone make a stamp loaded with actual Bitcoin on it.

So in 2017 I created the first loaded physical bitcoin stamp that was actually posted and used in the USA as you can see here  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2097158.msg20957878#msg20957878

I let it go at that and waited for someone else or some government agency to take up the torch and produce their own version of a physical Bitcoin. I waited for years and nothing happened...I mean yes, they did issue stamps with other crypto coins on them, but none of them were Bitcoin.

So a few weeks back, I started this mind game for people to be able to sweep some bitcoin out of a digital bitcoin stamp similar to what I made back in  2017.
                 http://www.crypto-stamps.com/private3.html

It was a hit amongst some people here but for whatever reason it was moved to the gambling section as it was not deemed a physical collectable item.
https:/bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5317293.0

Well......that got me into thinking of making a physical bitcoin stamp to give away! Its something I should have done years ago.....make my own actual physical stamps and also be allowed to give them away or sell them as I please as well.

That being said, I bought and created a website here>>  www.cypherpostage.com or www.cypherstamps.com.

Designed a new stamp and generated the public and private keys on an air-gapped computer.

The stamps will be placed on an envelope and inside the sealed envelope are all the keys for the private key as well as the password.

Winner or buyer will need to load with face value prior to shipping!

Can these stamp be used for posting items?

The answer is no, these are novelty collectable stamps that are one of the first of their kind in the world in having physical bitcoins on them. Just like Bitbills and Casascius not being real government issues cards/coins, the same apply to these stamps. They are made by Cypher Postage as a tribute to Bitcoin and all the physical bitcoin collectors around the world.

                  Full disclosure…
The stamps were sent out to be made to a stamp manufacturer, so yes the private keys have been exposed to someone besides myself. I had to make a minimum of 10 sheets per order so I have 9 sheets that are available to give away or sell but will never be able to be swept…as the word specimen and a postmark will be written over the QR codes and of course the passwords will not be provided with them.

The passwords on these stamps are at least 17 scrambled letters numbers and figures that according to https://password.kaspersky.com/ will take centuries to solve.

If you feel uncomfortable about this, then please do not buy or participate in this game. Other than that, they will be close to impossible to brute force.

As you can see I have had a stamp online loaded with 0.02btc for the past 4 years and it has not been swept at all. http://www.crypto-stamps.com/

So for now I have created one sheet with 20 stamps on it. Along with this sheet came 9 other sheets that were made as specimens.

The first block of 4 stamps and 5 sheets  I will keep in my possession as part of my personal collection.

Stamp #20 will be given away for free in a mind game to be announced later. And perhaps I  shall give out more as well…we shall see in what mood I am in.

Maybe stamps #5 thru 19 will be auctioned off separately.

The specimen sheets, 5 will be kept in my personal collection. The other 4 will be auctioned off or given away in these games.

I will probably issue more than 20 and I also have different artwork and values all set to be made...all depending if I am in a good mood. Wink

And yes these are all numbered and limited editions of probably 100 of each value. So very collectable!

Please keep in mind these specimen sheets are identical to the actual stamps loaded but the owner will not be able to sweep the private key unless he has the complex password that only envelope hodlers will be able to have.

You can read more about Cypher Stamps here www.cypherpostage.com

I am also working on creating these at home with self perforated papers in the works..in other words future ones will not be sent out for printing, private keys will never be exposed to another person and only one sheet per stamp will ever be produced….so no specimens at all. But that is not a promise. By the way in the real postage word, there are also specimen stamps sent out to postmasters so they were able to identify valid stamps. So yes very collectable in philately.

2103  Economy / Collectibles / Re: HOW TO BUY OR SELL HERE... on: February 23, 2021, 09:52:55 PM
thank you for the info provided on OP, I have the issue of I have some physical coins to sell, but have not done so due to the "postal scam" where the receiver claims it was pealed and cashed out before arrival, what steps can I make to reduce/illuminate this issue, thanks.

use an escrow to receive, validate, verify the coins before they re-ship to the buyer. Also - if you know the address of the coin and ship it tracked, pretty easy to see when it was peeled and swept as it will be either before it arrived or after it arrived.

who is the most trusted escrow close to the UK?

I would ask that question in this thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2439910.0

This thread has a good escrow list as well https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=276897.0
2104  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INFO] Breached or Scam coin makers list on: February 22, 2021, 07:28:31 PM
Bitcoin Suisse note shows a different address upon scanning it compared to what my account says where it loaded funds to (what shows up on scan is an empty address).

Have sent multiple emails to Bitcoin Suisse with no replies. Will keep you posted and update this post with any new information, might have to peel to figure out what the private key has.

Thanks for bringing this up...that is scary. Please keep us updated.

Here ya go guys!  Will be posting a new one soon...so stay tuned. Wink
2106  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Double and triple check the coin makers lists if possible when buying / selling. on: February 21, 2021, 02:55:43 PM
I have dealt with Dave for years..never had to do escrow and he always came thru with the correct items.

Mistakes happen and this an oversight that could have happened to the best of us.
2107  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Take my BTC from my Digital postage stamp challenge on: February 21, 2021, 02:29:41 PM
Not quite sure why everyone slept on it, however, I managed to initiate a sweep, 6 hours after the 00:00:14 EST timelock period.

I also slept on it (pun intent) since 00:00:14 EST was really early on a Sunday morning (here in Europe), hence I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that the amount was still there,  after 6 hours.... (on a lazy late Sunday morning when I wake up.... LOL)

Due to the mempool overload, the minimum fee amount that made any sense, at the time, was around 40 sats/byte (transaction took around 2 hours to get confirmed). Anything lower than 30 sats/byte (with 130k unconfirmed transaction at that moment) might take many hours/days to get confirmed.

That was actually a donation to the miners, since I got a total of around 65 cents out of it... LOL (0.00001134 BTC)

Awesome challenge @krogoth ... keep up with the good work!  Smiley

Congratulations!  Job well done mate..... I have something brewing up my sleeve far better than this....stay in tune Cheesy

Fun!

Quick question, the word search is horizontal, vertical and diagonal? Or no diagonal?

 Horizontal, vertical and diagonal.
2109  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Take my BTC from my Digital postage stamp challenge on: February 15, 2021, 06:17:01 PM
Well....here is another nice challenge that I think will be a bit harder and fun.....

You need to figure out the names of 20 forum members from this word puzzle. All taken from the collectables section today.

Once this is done you will need to place in alphabetical order the names and take the first letter of each name in order and this will give you the password for the private key

But thats not it, you need to wait until the 21st February to broadcast this timelock code. So in other words even though you have figured out the password for the private key, there is no bitcoin in the stamp. The coins will be available AFTER you broadcast the raw Hex code on that day, then the stamp will be loaded, then you can sweep.

Keep in mind its for Sun Feb 21 2021 00:00:14 EST. Blockchain takes a median time, in other words even if you transmit at exactly that time, an error might come up, as the median time lags behind real time, even up to an hour or two depending on how long the blocks take to be added to blockchain.

Code:
020000000103bfdaa1eb2ddfe0f3413737fafb043f0607229643ba5934fcc1ce7455e23f31000000006a473044022007da6d883ee0952139a8b97c7c89503f4c13e6f69e213eec838a23e35f8808e102207082958fb7f01920e1fc89b2b08fb946f9a43da5f2604e334e28318f6c837b0201210372a52f8ef2e3663507477f7f0cf1994c8cb46252ca22bed4425a70cab09deca3feffffff01bd270000000000001976a914675bd20c10471947aa3ae1ef323d01fa41e7e2a588acdee83160

     So to recap,

      a) Solve the word puzzle by finding the names of 20 forum members

      b) Place names in alphabetical order

      c) Take the first letter of each name and altogether they will be the password required to unlock the private key

      d) Broadcast the raw hex code here https://blockstream.info/tx/push on the 21st February 2021.

      e) Once that is done, the stamp will then be loaded with Bitcoin.

      f) Sweep the private QR code stamp with the correct password consisting of the first letters of each members name from the word puzzle in alphabetical order.

So even though you figure out the password now, you will still have to wait until Sunday, so many people can have figured it out, but still you have to beat your other competitors to broadcasting the raw TX and then sweeping.  Goodluck!!!

are you a lefty or a righty?  Grin  we can try to restrict the possibilities ...  Wink

Lefty and righty when punching... Cheesy
2111  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Take my BTC from my Digital postage stamp challenge on: February 15, 2021, 01:37:14 PM
"100 plus"?

Assuming these are only small caps alphabetic digits, a 100 digits passphrase would take at least 3.142931e+141 (26^100) trials to bruteforce it.
You have pretty much the same chance (or better?) by going after Satoshi's BTC stash at that point. Tongue

Every possible key caps symbols all been hit randomly...call it a drunken keyboard dance.  Cheesy
2112  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Take my BTC from my Digital postage stamp challenge on: February 15, 2021, 01:36:15 PM
I know the password, but I didn't have any wallet installed on this phone, and now that I installed mycelyum they went ahead, haha, it was nice and fun to try.

Hmmm....be ready for another one soon...just need to make it a bit harder..too many smart people here! Wink

You can still try this one http://www.crypto-stamps.com/private3.html

    It has 0.02BTC

Was there any hints for this one or another post about it? Cheesy

Its been online since 2017 and never been cracked.

No hints as the password was created by me punching keyboard symbols randomly to create a ridiculously 100 plus pass word that will take millennia to crack.

Thats why i did this one today with a riddle.

"100 plus"?

Its worth close to $1000....I do hope I remember where I placed that damn password.... Wink
2113  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INFO]-Crypto Stamps- Collectable Blockchain postage stamps on: February 14, 2021, 08:20:36 PM
Well....been asked about that loaded online stamps password http://www.crypto-stamps.com/private3.html..which I think according to https://www.betterbuys.com/estimating-password-cracking-times/ will take about forever to figure it out.

So that being said, I made another one loaded with about $5 worth of BTC or 0.00010246BTC.

The BIP38 password is the answer to the following riddle....Goodluck!  Wink

Red as fire, yet fire I am not
Green as grass, yet grass I am not
Water I have, yet a lake I am not.

     What am I?

2114  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Searching for a CTLV wallet or program or programmer that can make one for me. on: February 14, 2021, 06:31:19 PM
Bcoin has some functions for making CTLV transactions (plus a guide on how to use them) but this is only reference for programmers to make another wallet out of, plus JavaScript wallet libraries like bcoin are cumbersome to use outside a browser and stand-alone, the intended use case of this thread.

Thanks will look into this....it is interesting.
2115  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Searching for a CTLV wallet or program or programmer that can make one for me. on: February 14, 2021, 06:30:55 PM
What I do not understand is, I gave them my pub key and they then gave me a script..>What exactly do I do with that? I cannot broadcast it at all.
they give you a redeem script that you need for signing the transaction later.
they also give you an address (starting with 3) that you can use to send coins to (make sure you test it first before sending coins).

Quote
So what are the next steps? I sweep the private key once say 4 pm is reached and automatically the signature key pub adddress is loaded?
you can't sweep this key in any wallet that i know of because they don't support custom scripts like this one.
you have to create the transaction using the same tool and sign it there also.
go to the Transaction page the enter your redeem script there and fill in other boxes to spend the balance of that address you created above (the one starting with 3) to a new address.
then use the result in the Sign page with your private key to sign this transaction.
finally broadcast it to the network

Quote
Also how do I see the Hodl key on blockchain to see that is timelocked? I know I can see the balance, but what is telling me that it is timelocked for the time I gave it?
there is no way to know the type or the script that was used to create P2SH addresses except for when they are being spent. so with only having a balance in that address you can not verify if it is time-locked on the blockchain. you can only see your own redeem script and based on that manually verify that it is a OP_HODL.

  Thankyou will follow these steps.
2116  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Searching for a CTLV wallet or progam or programmer that can make one for me. on: February 14, 2021, 04:23:45 PM
have you checked out coinb.in website?
under New there is an option called Time Locked Address, it will create a redeem script and the P2SH address using the OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY op code that you want.
it is also open source (find the github link at the bottom of the page) which you can download and run offline.

Aye...I am doing that now and have just tried my first CTLV loading address. I set it for 4 hours in the future.

What I do not understand is, I gave them my pub key and they then gave me a script..>What exactly do I do with that? I cannot broadcast it at all.

I loaded the key HODL key and I have required signature key which is the original pub address I created on my paper wallet generator.

So what are the next steps? I sweep the private key once say 4 pm is reached and automatically the signature key pub adddress is loaded?

Also how do I see the Hodl key on blockchain to see that is timelocked? I know I can see the balance, but what is telling me that it is timelocked for the time I gave it?

  Thanks again
2117  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Searching for a CTLV wallet or program or programmer that can make one for me. on: February 14, 2021, 03:15:59 PM
Looking for a script or wallet to execute a CLTV

CLTV is an op code in the Bitcoin scripting language that allows you to lock a UTXO (Unspent Transaction Output) by time. i.e. a coin cannot be spent until a certain time or blockchain height has been past

    Thanks
2118  Economy / Collectibles / Re: TESTING- Submersing paper wallets printed on water proof papers on: February 12, 2021, 01:49:03 PM
Took out papers and scanned. Also took pic for the record all laying next to each other.

As you can see, Terra slate paper, Revlar and Ritnrain's Duracopy are in perfect condition...all scanned and are intact

Ritnrain all weather paper is soggy and yellowing a bit on the edges, able to read the QR but turning too brownish..so removed from water

The regular ink I used to mark Terra slate is also intact.

Paper out for less than a minute and all were immersed back in the water right away.

Just a reminder to new and old readers on this thread....

The digital stamp that I created back in 2017 and loaded with 0.02, is still loaded. The public and private keys are both exposed.
You just have to crack the simple password for the private key and you are welcome to take the 0.02BTC
Its been online for almost 4 years now.

          http://www.crypto-stamps.com/private3.html

          Goodluck  Wink

bip38 is the way to go.

Lol...I agree...and this online test I think is unique and also a great test for it...thats how strong it is
