Your pool is very unstable!
its under very heavy load.
moving to new farm in the morning.

Nice! BCN needed an open pool very badly! Will start mining on your pool soon!

I haven't seen the new godzilla, but I want to check it out.   My grandmother was actually in the original Godzilla movie.  She passed away years ago, so that goes to show how long ago that was...

Your grandmother was actually in the old Godzilla movie? That's awesome, man!

Still waiting for the translation reward:

Hey guys,

We're putting a bounty for a Minergate OP translation - 200000 BCN for each language.

All you have to do is translate this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=528848.msg5873847#msg5873847 and create a new translated Minergate topic in your country forum branch. As soon as it's done - PM me for a reward.

Thank you.

What's wrong with the airdrop?

What's wrong with you?
2126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity) on: May 19, 2014, 02:03:39 PM
I have no idea why people are supporting this one over a fairer release (Monero)

I have an idea on that. I support the coin because Bytecoin was developed by someone who is capable of creating breakthrough innovations. The coin is alive, the devs are still contributing. I prefer supporting the team, which has the expertise to push this technology forward. After all, there wouldn't be Monero at all if there was no Bytecoin.

The word "fair" is highly subjective. Fair for whom? It's the information asymmetry that drives our world. If nobody bothered to notify you personally on the release of a brilliant new technology, it doesn't make the launch unfair. I've been writing already that there was something in Monero's backyard, so here we have QCN. This story will always be recursive as there're always be those that are dissatisfied with distribution of wealth, resources, or knowledge.

And you know, it doesn't really bother me which CryptoNote coin succeeds. The more significant thing is to keep innovative track. I hope Monero will join this real race, not the imaginary one.

NOW WE'RE TALKING!! Smiley

This thread is full of posts that suggest people to mine Monero over BCN, but I have always steered clear of them and have told them to leave this thread alone.
I don't support BCN clones for the same reason I don't support Bitcoin clones.

Creating a clone and brag about 'fair distribution' is easy. Come to me when you 'innovate' something and you've got my hash power.

i love firefox
but their recent update (FF 29) was bad design
it's not FF 29, but seems like Chrome 29
i hate it and go back to FF28

You will be OK for one release or two.
But what will you do when Firefox keeps updating with critical security bugs? Will you keep using same old version for appearance's sake and compromise your security?

So we have a SoccerCoin which is as dead as my boss and a WorldCupCoin which is a potential scam.

We still have room for a FootballCoin though. Any takers? Cheesy

Pretty sure that one was taken a couple days ago.

Wow, how did I miss this gem? Tongue

2130  Economy / Economics / Re: Asia's richest man invests in Bitcoin on: May 19, 2014, 11:32:19 AM
he's probably just investing a small amount, trying to diversify his assets.. it doesn't necessarily mean that he will use his weight to protect bitcoin's development, but maybe it is.

You are right, however in my opinion the amount of his investment is not as important, as the information for wider public that goes beneath - another successful enterpreneur thinks that Bitcoin is here to stay - in the aspect of good publicity it's priceless.

This is the correct way to look at it. General public always takes inspiration from established players to invest their hard-earned money. If some bear hears about popular investors investing in Bitcoin, he would be less reluctant to invest his own assets.

Always nice to see how Bitcoin helped some struggling people get over their problems.

I'm sure we will see more of these stories once Bitcoin gains mainstream adoption, since we're still in early phase and we're all early adopters.

I checked his address's blockchain. It used to have 81,000BTC+ Bitcoin and now zero!

He himself said that he has spent almost all of his BTC. He now owns BTC in single digit  Shocked

The ironic thing is, his single digit bitcoin's value has more worth now then his 10's of thousands did back then. Actually, 1 BTC has more worth now then back then and by a factor of ?

This guy should team up with Casascius or the like and put out autographed coins, pizza boxes, etc. as I honestly think there is a market for it.

Laszio - Congrats to you for helping to get Bitcoin started in a way. And further congrats for being so down to earth and not grumpy about "losing net worth" or the like.

Its about sharing

Absolutely right about being down to earth and so on. If I were him, I would be so mad, I'd not be able to make conversations in a sane manner, let alone down to earth.
I would be kicking my dog all day.

2135  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Cold storage questions on: May 19, 2014, 07:19:52 AM
Hi there. First post/topic.

I'm about to put coins away in cold storage on a long term, to be forgotten about, basis and have some newbie questions:

1. I understand I can use the bitaddress.org HTML document, copied on a clean USB stick to a live USB version of Linux (Tails) which has never been connected to the web to generate a public address and private key. How do I know that the pair that's generated is unique and hasn't already been generated? What are the mathematical odds of someone coincidentally having the same private key?

2. Is there a "scene" for people using powerful computing technology (high-end GPU's etc.) to generate and test thousands of private keys in the hope that they'll stumble upon some coins?

In short, am I OK to store a couple of coins in a paper document and forget about them for a year or two?

Thanks muchly. I find this site very interesting, even though some of the more mathematical explanations can go over my head.

These are the mathematical odds:

This thread is going to be bumped again and again, so that people remember true value of their coins Cheesy
2138  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Browser You Use on: May 19, 2014, 03:59:29 AM
....with firefox when I have a lot of tabs open it is often very slow and laggy....

It is true, Chrome does not lag because Chrome runs every tab as a separate process. You can see that in Task Manager. Because of this Chrome uses much more memory than Firefox, too.

If you like crime-thriller movies, then Untraceable is one of the best. An exceptional story, and some great acting my Joseph Cross. Still.. it was a flop at the box office.

I like crime-thrillers. Though I haven't watched this one yet. Added it to my watchlist now, thanks for recommending!
2140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity) on: May 19, 2014, 03:44:08 AM
alright guys I got an opensource BCN POOL up
http://bcn.extremepool.org

you can use simpleminer or cpuminer  (minerd)

I would recommend getting the newly optimized cpuminer
AWESOME! bye bye Minergate!

there are some miner fixes I have to do, the block reward is not reporting right yet, at least I don't think.  but everything else should be good.

You should start a new thread to announce this.
I will as soon as I verify block reward

Awesome! What should be the command line for minerd? By default cpuminer runs on scrypt. How do I run it on cryptonote algo?
