4.5 days of boring cricket and when things got interesting, here came another freaking draw. 1-0 or 0-1 to either team looks much better than 0-0.
Lol! Classic phucked up happening in Karachi. They as in PCB wanted to win, they went ahead and created or rather designed pitches as a highway in the first and then in this match they tried but again got a highway pitch but, they forgot that they have a unreliable batters. Now, umpires pitch in and believe what batters state about lights. As Karachi is a port city, it is unable to digest why light factor was raised. Maybe their was another attack from TTP that caused bad light due to smoke clouds ot it was something else.   |

Shardul is an allrounder and he has rescued his team with his batting a number of times under pressure. What I don't like about Umran is the fact that he tries too many things and tries to intimidate the batsmen. This tactic may work against weaker teams. But when he bowls against England, Pakistan or Australia, where the batsmen are more used to express pace, he may get the stick. I have a feeling that his pace maybe more useful in test matches, especially under helpful conditions. T20 may not suit him that well.
He is still very new to international cricket. With experience he would know what to bowl and what kind of attitude is required. This why I want him to play more. He is an asset for India as he is the only fast bowler India has for now. Bhumrah may not continue for after a couple of years and India needs a main bowler which he can become with experience. |

I was just wondering! If Babar Azam steps down or gets sacked as the test captain who is the probable contender to replace him? I have two players in my mind. The first one is the current wicket-keeper and ex-captain of Pakistan Sarfaraz Ahmed and the second one is another wicket-keeper Mohamad Rizwan.
Who do you think can replace Babar Azam as the captain of the Test squad? Mohamad Rizwan is playing decently now, and I don't think that the PCB should ruin his career by overburdening him with additional responsibilities (the same thing that happened with Babar Azam). Let Sarfaraz Ahmed handle this responsibility for now, as he is more mature and experienced. I would have considered Shaheen Shah Afridi (once he is free from injury), but having a pace bowler as the captain is a bit extreme. Australia tried to do the same with Pat Cummins, and I am afraid that it is not working that well. Shaheen Shah Afridi would have been my number 1 contender for the captaincy spot. He is a bowler and would be able to handle the pressure but injuries might hamper him as a captain. Pakistan have already lost 5 wickets they are struggling to play spin. Both Sodhi and Bracewell have taken 2 wickets each. At this momentum Pakistan might lose this test match. |

What can you expect from Pakistan they are good in digging their own hole. Losing two wickets for none is a disaster. Hopefully they play the full 90 overs and draw this match. Kiwis also do not have any intent of winning this match otherwise they would have stopped at 250 and given the opportunity to Pakistan batters. Another test match which might end in a draw.
LOL.. 250? 250 in 95 or so overs is just like cakewalk for Pakistan. 350 would have guaranteed a win for New Zealand or draw, but the Kiwi captain (Southee) declared with a lead of 319. Also you need to keep in mind that New Zealand is without the services of a world class spinner ever since the retirement of Daniel Vettori. Ish Sodhi, Michael Bracewell and Ajaz Patel can't be considered as reliable spinners. Given this, I would not support your argument that the Kiwis should have declared with a lead of 250. It would have been suicidal for them. Pakistan has not been able to chase small totals like 96 runs in the past. The less the score the more mistakes Pakistan batters would have made and the more attacking would have been NZ bowlers but looks like now this match will end in a draw unless Paksitan batting collapse without any reason, which can happen in today's match. At moment I am certain that this match will end in a draw. |

Both teams are playing thakela game, so far no one actually showed any intent to win and just looking for draw due to the slow pitch.
Those late 2 wickets helped Kiwis but the pitch is still way too good to bat on. Pakistan could have been in a better place if Sarfaraz was a bit more accurate behind the wickets, he's having a pathetic test match as wk.
New Zealand was aiming for the win and that is why they set up a very aggressive target of 319 runs with 90 overs remaining. Given the flat track at Karachi, it would have been relatively easy for the opposing team. But Pakistan being Pakistan, made a mess of the chase. Lost two important wickets (that of Abdullah Shafique and Mir Hamza even before they could open scoring). Still the target is achievable and the 5th day is going to be really exciting. The declaration by Tim Southee has made this test match very very interesting. What can you expect from Pakistan they are good in digging their own hole. Losing two wickets for none is a disaster. Again the opening pair fail to give a good start and as usual the middle order was in shambles. The debutant Rahul tripathi was good on the fields, took some good catches but was shaky with his bat. I haven't seen any batter trying to play the hook shot but misses it and get hit on his helmet which goes for a four lol. Shivam Mavi did bowl well but contributed through his bat. If Axar and SKY had not formed that partnership then India would have collapsed within 150 runs. Considering 200+ is a good score score in T20 it was not that easy for India to chase that target.

WTF! Arshdeep Singh! I never expected this guy to give tons of run through no ball. Such performance would hamper his permanent slot in T20 team. Shivam was also ineffective today but one man who has be consistent is Umran. I want this guy to play more cricket. In the end Srilanka got to 200 runs. In my opinion Srilanka would win as India's batting is in a terrible state. If India is able to chase then it would be a miracle.

The second T20 match between these two countries will be played today. India won the last match due to impressive bowling and fielding but they are struggling will the batting. I hope today they work on their weakness. Pathetic performance by Sanju Samson dropped an easy catch and did not even bat well. If he continues like this then he might get dropped permanently. Subhman Gill's debut match was a disaster. If he wants to permanent his berth in the T20 squad he needs to play big innings. I have a feeling that they both get dropped in today's match.
Srilanka losing an easy match earlier would have realised that they need to work a lot on their batting. They also need batters who can start a partnership rather than going after the bowlers. If they lose today they would lose the series. I am expecting another close encounter between these two today.

While everyone's focus is in Karachi, Usman Khawaja and Steven Smith are involved in an unbeaten 172 run partnership at Sydney and now Australia are cruising towards the 500 mark. Right now they are at 315/2. Khawaja hit his century and Smith is 13 runs away from that mark. Anrich Nortje has picked up two wickets and all the other South African bowlers have gone wicketless. And Australia still has Travis Head, Matt Renshaw, Alex Carey to come. This is going to be yet another one-sided match involving South Africa.
As usual the result of this test match will also go in favour of Australia. I have zero hopes from South Africa after following the previous matches. The match between NZ & Pakistan is far much intresting at the moment. At the moment Pakistan is trailing by only 42 runs and they might not be able to put a lead as they have lost 9 wickets. |

If both the batters Shakeel & Ahmed maintain this partnership towards the end of day 3 then they will be able to give a lead to the NZ side. Two debutant played yesterday. The first one being Shubhman Gill, who in my opinion did not have good match and second one being Mavi eho took 4 wickets & gave only 22 runs. That is called impact! As usual Imran Malik gave a splendid performance. These two guys in my opinion were the reason why India was able to defend such alow score. If Deepak Hooda hadn't batted so good then the target for Srilanka would have been below 150.

What is with Sanju Samson? He threw his wicket! It shows how much pressure this guy was when he came to bat in the middle order. Ishan Kishan & Hardik Pandya are out on the field and I feel they might be able to get India a good total on the board for Srilanka to chase. The pitch seems to favour spinners more than the pacers.

Why give an in form batter a vice captain responsibility. Such responsibility are the reason why Kholi is struggling past couple of years. When you an inform batter like SKY loses his wicket because of a silly shot then it means the pressure of a vice captain unable to accelerate the run rate and score has overtook his ability as a good batter. Such responsibility was the reason Sachin and Virat failed as captain.

They are adding crucial runs and it could be a match defining session, despite being too early in the game. 121 overs for Pak bowlers, indeed many tired legs. I was expecting 400 or so runs but it seems just like Pakistani bowlers I also underestimated the Kiwi tail enders. Henry already scored his 50 and Patel might too. A score of 400+ would not be easy for Pakistan. They have a very inconsistent batting line up and if they want to win this match or draw it they would need a good partnership. For now, Pakistani batters are playing village cricket. First 2 wickets were really soft dismissals and the run out of Babar was proper meme material and would make a great thumbnail for a youtube video. Imam screaming at Babar was a cherry on the cake, he first sold out his skipper and then started blabbing lol The whole test series looks like a Meme cricket. First they had a highway pitch and now they are struggling on their own pitch. Just imagine if India had agreed on playing test cricket with them in Australia. The winning chance for New Zealand is high, but something unexpected happening in between can change the match as Pakistan is in the Home Ground. New Zealand have already scored 300+ runs. In tomorrow sessions they'll try to score more 100 runs and keep the pressure high on Pakistan. In this test series the chance for draw is high than Pakistan winning the match.
New Zealand was in a very strong position, but during the third session they lost too many wickets. At one point they were 234/1. And from that position they collapsed to 279/6, with Naseem Shah and Agha Salman picking up wickets. Abrar Ahmed and Hasan Ali were disappointing, picking up just one wicket and conceding 155 runs in between them. The 7th wicket partnership between Tom Blundell and Ish Sodhi is worth 40 runs till now. If New Zealand can get to somewhere around 400, then it will be a good total on this pitch. But it looks unlikely now. 400 runs is possible and it will be not easy for Pakistan to chase those runs. The pitch does support bowlers and is not like the previous pitch which did not have anything for them. If Naseem Shah can take wickets then there are good seamers in the NZ side who can also utilize this pitch. I think the chance of Kiwis winning this match is pretty good. |
