We're doing a quick flip of bitcoin-core hosts, which unfortunately means that deposits will be queued for the next 20 minutes (and then processed). With any luck, this should be our last bitcoin-core related outage as we're moving to a wildly overpowered machine with plenty of diskspace this time.

Withdrawals should continue to work as usual.

Edit: Deposits have all been processed, thanks for your patience.
2182  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com :: The bitcoin gambling wallet on: June 02, 2015, 02:41:05 AM
Hey I have been waiting over 2 hours for my little deposit of 10,474.48 bits to get confirmed... eager to check out the sites please help!

Gah. That was my fault indeed. I wasn't keeping track of the disk growth and bitcoind ate my 50GB SSD partition. I'm moving everything over to a bigger drive, and will give everyone a bit of a tip who was affected.

The issue has now been resolved, and for more affected users I've given them a x2 deposit tip. Enjoy!

Eh, it looks nice except for the panel on the right - that seems like it could be made a little more aesthetically pleasing. At the moment I'd prefer using the current design compared to the new design, really just because of the relative ugliness of the panel on the right in the new design.

Thanks, exactly the sort of feedback we're looking for. We're not a in big rush to switch to the new layout, so we'll wait till it's unequivocally better. On Monday or Tuesday we'll push up some dark colors (inspired from the late tothemoon.is), so we look forward to more brutal honesty =)
2184  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit.com -- The Social Gambling Game (formerly moneypot.com) on: May 29, 2015, 09:20:39 PM
Neat indeed but I do like the previous one better (perhaps I am accustomed to it )but atleast with this new layout there will be enough space for you to add timestamp to the chat. Basically the previous layout is so cramped that adding a timestamp to the chat is not really an option.
The chatbox is a bit too small , perhaps you could make it bigger by adjusting it with the chart since the chart is taking almost 1/2 of the entire screen though

Thanks, and good ideas. We'll definitely add the timestamp thing too.

We've been optimizing the new client a bit more for mobile now: https://www.bustabit.com/play-new

Hello

whats happened on moneypot or bustabit?
got hacked? :/

Something involving a car crash breaking a fiber optic line.  It should have only affected bustabit gameserver for a couple hours, and there were no security implications =)
2186  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit.com -- The Social Gambling Game (formerly moneypot.com) on: May 28, 2015, 07:12:01 PM
We've been working on a bit of a re-layout:

Here's an early preview: https://www.bustabit.com/play-new

What do you guys think?
2187  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com :: The bitcoin gambling wallet on: May 28, 2015, 06:53:43 PM
Is there an indicator for moneypot to determine if a site is having some activity or not? I do think you wont keep most of the sites that doesnt make a decent profit/ get player activity since it will just a waste of resources?

If a site isn't being used, it doesn't add any extra costs or load to us so it doesn't matter =) However, when there's more MP casinos we plan on showing a feature matrix of them, showing off the most popular ones
2188  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com :: The bitcoin gambling wallet on: May 28, 2015, 04:22:18 PM
but regarding investors I dont understand your answer.  do you mean that MP is right now not interested in more
investors? if yes will it change as soon there are more games on MP?

We welcome more investors that understand the risks (and rewards) and choose to invest. I however was just saying that I personally don't want to put more money in (I already own around 100 of the bankroll), unless it was strictly required.  Smiley
2189  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com :: The bitcoin gambling wallet on: May 28, 2015, 03:43:59 PM
Hi Ryan what is betterbets.io max payout my friends and I may move larger btc sums over soon? Hoping at least 3-5 btc...

What is your MP username? I'm reluctant to further dilute the existing investors, unless the bankroll limits really are too low.

@all

how do MP sites play, with bits, satoshi, MBTC or BTC? thanks

MP itself actually stores everything internally in satoshis (and fractions there of) so it's up to sites to determine how to display it. Personally I prefer to get satoshis and divide it by 100, and call it bits. Other people prefer to divide by 100000000 and call it bitcoins. But it's really just the same thing, displayed in different ways.
2190  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit.com -- The Social Gambling Game (formerly moneypot.com) on: May 28, 2015, 01:03:27 PM
..and we're back!

Meanwhile I deposited 300 bits and if I click play redirects me over a pastebin like to download something. Grr.
Edit: ok boss I wait.

Yeah sorry, a horrible hack. I just did that so I didn't have to take the entire site offline. Wanted people to know their money is safe and accessible, even though the game wasn't.

2191  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit.com -- The Social Gambling Game (formerly moneypot.com) on: May 28, 2015, 12:20:49 PM
Sorry guys, bustabit is down for emergency maintenance.  Give me a couple hours, and we'll be back online =)

Deposits (And more importantly: withdrawals) will still be processed, but the game is out of action
2192  Economy / Gambling / Re: Recent dadice.com development on: May 28, 2015, 12:01:09 AM
Thanks RHavar, I will play more on these sites.
I am surprised not seeing PrimeDice on the list Huh

No one really doubts the solvency of PrimeDice, and in general I don't think it's big deal if non-investing sites show solvency or not. Sites that make extraordinary claims and investment sites should be held to a higher standard, though. In fact, I'd say it's absolutely critical in investment sites as it's our only proof that profits are generated from a means other than it being a big ponzi.
2193  Economy / Gambling / Re: Recent dadice.com development on: May 27, 2015, 10:05:12 PM
Which dice sites has shown their solvency by disclosing their cold wallet address? I might play their more often.

NLNico compiled a good list (in reply to the claim from DaDice that competitors also don't show solvency):

I interested about investment on global moneypot, any detail info about this feature? I like to read it 1st before make any decision..

Our FAQ has a section on it. The short is, that it's extremely risky and there's no guarantees of profit. What ever you do put in there, there's a good chance you'll lose it, so never put more than you are ok with losing. However, in exchange for doing this, you do get +EV bets.

So your target is a good developers that can make a great site without having to worry about the bankroll for the site. Any restrictions like how many dice game is allow for moneypot? it will be alot of dice game in the future if there is no restriction since it is the easiest to be coded

No, definitely not. We don't want to be the gatekeepers of that sort of stuff. However, if you do create a boring site that no one plays, you're not going to make any money.

if i generated 1 address i can use it many times? or only 1time?

coz every time i deposited i always generate new address

You can deposit to the same address as many times as you like. However, we do continually generate new addresses, as it helps with privacy. In the receive tab in MP, you can see all the previous addresses that have been generated. However, if you like you keep reusing old addresses and they'll continue to work
2195  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com :: The bitcoin gambling wallet on: May 27, 2015, 08:36:30 PM
Everyone that created a gambling site under moneypot API and bankroll is creating a gambling sites with no risk at all because they got profit just by bringing in more players and even if the house is beaten then they will lose nothing at all either.

That's right, if a casino bring in players they will get guaranteed, risk-free profit. They do however, need to bring in players which is harder than it might sound =)

Investors have an expected profit, but it's far from risk free (it's more like, crazy risky).  But the have the luxury of not having to do much Tongue

Question is, why do you created such thing ?

Dont get me wrong, I honestly said that this is a good thing. I mean is why risk this thing for other people to create a gambling website to get profit while you can use all the funds to make your own website and get all the profit for yourself?

Because we want to enable a whole set of new exciting bitcoin gambling games, done by people who are more front-end and UX experts, who don't need to worry about doing the "hard" backend. It's really win-win. And not only that, I think gamblers are going to see in the next 6 months a whole suite of new games from developers who previously wouldn't have been interested in bitcoin games =)
2196  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com :: The bitcoin gambling wallet on: May 27, 2015, 08:15:08 PM
Continuing the betterbet discussion ryan, what is the percentage of profit split between you and betterbets? since they are using your bankroll. I assume that it will be moneypot that will have the bigger percentage for the share profit?

There's some information in the FAQ about this. Basically the investors are *always* given only +EV, kelly satisfying bets (all other bets are rejected). Then if there's a difference between payouts that satisfying the investors, and a payout the gambler wanted (e.g. a commission) our standard structure is doing a 50-50% profit share. So the four parties:

* Gamblers :: Get the bet they want
* Investors :: Always get +EV, kelly satisfying bets
* Casino Dev :: Risk Free profit for bringing the gamblers
* Money Pot :: Risk Free profit for running the service
2197  Economy / Gambling / Re: Overview of Popular Bitcoin Gambling Websites [Up-to-date as of 15th Feb] on: May 27, 2015, 07:57:28 PM
If you do update the list, could you rename MoneyPot to bustabit (it underwent a domain change, but under same ownership and same accounts etc.)

I'll second LuckyB.it trustworthiness rating being improved to an A+. As they have no investors, and have every bet occur in public it is both exceedingly hard for them to cheat (without being seen) and all the incentives aligned for them to operate legitimately.

Also it appears that satoshidice hasn't been responding to support issues for at least a couple months (source), so you might want to update the chart to reflect them or just remove them until they're back in action

Anyone happen to know how the moneypot API docs are generated?  This looks so much prettier than my crappy doxygen stuff.

https://www.moneypot.com/api-docs

We use aglio to generate them as part of our build process. It just generates a static html file, which then we serve up

2199  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetterBets.io - Bitcoin Casino ★Unique Luck Forging★ Powered by Moneypot.com on: May 27, 2015, 04:11:10 AM
Sorry to ask this, can you please clarify on this

Since you are using moneypot's balance for your bankroll, this means that you as an admin could play at the site as well and drain's moneypot balance isnt it since you know the server hash and could know whats the next roll will be?

Great question, they do use MoneyPot's balance as the bankroll and for that precise reason they don't have access to any privileged information. In fact, they know exactly as much as you know and you can actually create an app now ( https://www.moneypot.com/apps/new ) , and use the very same API that betterbets.io is using.
2200  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit.com -- The Social Gambling Game (formerly moneypot.com) on: May 26, 2015, 02:12:40 AM
Actually, that's a good way to solve it. For 150 games, I can increase the bonus-pool by 20,000 bits in each game. That would be 3 BTC of giveaways, for one action-packed hour =)
