2181  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmaintech Europe?? on: July 20, 2016, 08:45:29 PM
Does Someone know this Store :http://www.antminerdistribution.com
It seems to be a Europe Office and Shop of Bitmaintech, but the Shop is very unprofessional...
Is it a Company who claims to be, or is it real ?

Bitmain has only three official distributors outside of China see this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=515448.msg6535089#msg6535089

Antminerdistribution.com is not on the list.

here are the three official distributors:

Asicminer in Europe http://asicminer-shop.de
112Bit in US http://www.112bit.com/shop/
sushi is the third, he is a member here without an online shop I can find.

You might just buy directly from Bitmain in China.
2182  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Coinbase NOT Regulated - No reply to Account Closure - Is Coinbase a scam? on: July 20, 2016, 08:20:26 PM
Apparently Coinbase closes accounts without any reason given.

I have been trading on Coinbase since their inception and on July 13th, 2016 I was emailed that my account was closed

I have sent requests for an explanation almost every day with NO reply.

When I log into my account I get a screen that says:

Unfortunately we have had to close your Coinbase account. Before your account can be closed, you will need to withdraw your funds to an external wallet and any other funds to an attached bank account. Please be sure to delete any references to digital currency addresses generated by Coinbase, as funds sent to those addresses will not be retrievable once the account is closed. If you have any questions you may contact us at support@coinbase.com.

It says I must withdraw my funds to my bank account.  The only problem is, I can't access my account to make the withdrawal!

I contacted FINcen as Coinbase touts they are regulated by them but it seems that FINcen is NOT a regulatory body as I received this reply from them:

Mr. XXXX:

Thank you for your inquiry.  Please note that Coinbase is registered with FinCEN as a money services business (specifically, a money transmitter.)  The inclusion of a business on the MSB Registrant Search Web page is not a recommendation, certification of legitimacy, or endorsement of the business by any government agency.

The MSB Registrant Search Web page (https://www.fincen.gov/financial_institutions/msb/msbstateselector.html), which is updated on a weekly basis, contains entities that have registered as Money Services Businesses (MSBs) pursuant to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) regulations at 31 CFR 1022.380(a)-(f), administered by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

Information contained on that site has been provided by the MSB registrant. FinCEN does not verify information submitted by the MSB. Information provided on this site reflects only what was provided directly to FinCEN. If an error or incomplete information is detected on this site, the registrant should follow the appropriate instructions for correcting a Registration of Money Services Business (RMSB) form.

Regardless of whether this entity is registered with FinCEN, you must perform your own due diligence to ascertain its legitimacy.  You may wish to contact your local BBB or State Corporation Commission for this purpose.

FinCEN’s Resource Center

So if Coinbase is not regulated, who do I file a complaint with?

Coinbase is starting to sound like a smoke and mirrors scam to me

JCT

Take a look at Coinbase terms of service you agreed to when you opened your account, did you use any prohibited services?

Just say no to paper wallets. Get a Trezor or Ledger instead.
2184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the position of Stellar crypto currency on: July 19, 2016, 04:33:46 PM
I have brought more than 50,000 Stellars in 2014, after that I am inactive in Stellar what is the position of Stellar in crypto currency list and market. Where can I find the price of Stellar in Indian rupees does this Stellar is having any future in future years?

You can find the current price of Stellar on CoinMarketCap. The site does not support rupees so you would have to get the price in dollars and use the current exchange rate to calculate on your own.
2185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Eth hardfork incoming - Race to the exits? on: July 17, 2016, 08:14:50 PM
At this point with a hard fork planned for next Wednesday I think it is priced in and Ether price could very well increase after the fork. The developers just released an updated Mist today allowing users to choose to follow or not follow the fork. So if you like to speculate go ahead and buy some Ether now hoping for a price pop next week after the fork. Or not.
2186  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CoolWallet Launched! Resellers are wanted. on: July 17, 2016, 08:08:09 PM
Trezor and Ledger are still your best choices.

Unfortunately these aren't choices for iOS users.

If you have to have cold storage for an iPhone or iPad Bitlox has an app. A little expensive at $199 though.
2187  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CoolWallet Launched! Resellers are wanted. on: July 17, 2016, 05:58:33 PM
CoolWallet still sold out and no updates. Trezor and Ledger are still your best choices. If you want to store Ether as well as Bitcoin the Ledger Nano S ships the end of this month.

No problem with Android Breadwallet here. You are using Marshmallow OS right?
2190  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 2016 Bitcoin Debit Card Reviews on: July 15, 2016, 01:20:30 PM
You can add the new BitPay Visa bitcoin debit card to the list. Shipping to all US states only.
2191  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: July 15, 2016, 01:11:37 PM
There will not be much development going on for the current app, efforts are focused on the new shiny next generation Smiley

Some feature requests for the next generation:

1) Allow me access multiple receiving addresses so I can issue more than one invoice at a time

2) Offer some kind of proper wallet encryption feature. A 6 digit code just doesn't cut it. I want something like Bitcoin Core has, so that when my phone is stolen I know it will take the thief a significant amount of time to access my wallet seed. Currently I think all he needs to do is root the phone and my seed is there in plain text. That's a worry.

3) Allow me to use my own local bitcore server instead of a central Mycelium server for blockchain queries and transaction broadcast.

Have you taken a look at the new Breadwallet beta that is available for Android phones running Marshmallow 6.0? The fully encrypted phone and fingerprint verification used by the wallet looks like a pretty secure setup for moderate amounts of bitcoin. Breadwallet connects directly to the bitcoin network and stores secret keys in the phone's hardware encrypted keystore,
2192  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I wanna invest on genesis-mining. Is it a good idea ? on: July 14, 2016, 02:15:39 PM
Genesis Mining has no way for you to sell your hashing power. Once you buy you own it. At least Hashnest and BW.com have their own exchanges where you can sell if you want.
2193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixing on: July 14, 2016, 02:10:55 PM

1) Using a VPN connect to shapeshift.io and use bitcoin to buy Monero and store in your local Monero wallet
2) Again using a VPN connect to xmr.to and sell your Monero for bitcoin and send to a local bitcoin wallet.

Why Monero? It intrinsically has a higher degree of privacy than Bitcoin due to the Cryptonote protocol used. It will be impossible to link the bitcoin you received back from xmr.to with the bitcoin you sent to shapeshift.io

Good idea to use Monero, as it does have built-in stealth features. But be careful about relying too much on VPNs for anonymity. VPN's provide privacy but not anonymity. Whoever runs your VPN has direct access to your true IP address, and you can only take their word that they won't share that info with third parties.

If I were using your method I would use tor instead of vpn, if shapeshift and xmr are tor-capable

Both shapeshift.io and xmr.to work fine over Tor. You just have to whitelist the sites in Tor browser so they can execute scripts.
I agree that shapeshift is a good way, but you have to make sure that their funds get used up to get rid of the chance of any "dirty" coins landing in your new address.

Change into LTC, wait maybe a week or so so that their coins are already probably replaced, then change back to BTC.
As time consuming and laborious as this sounds, it may work.

If you don't like waiting, Bitmixer.io is legit.

That is the reason to use Monero. No waiting needed. I do agree it is good practice to change bitcoin to Monero using shapeshift then back to bitcoin using xmr.to. The transaction trail is completely broken. You can always use the taint analysis tool at blockchain.info to check.

2195  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: July 14, 2016, 01:56:50 AM
Great news, trezor to support ethereum soon:
http://www.newsbtc.com/2016/05/18/32225/
Has this been implemented yet?
If it has then I will be getting one for sure! So to know that the ethereum I want to start acquiring are well secured.Grin

You have to wait for main Ethereum wallet (Mist) developers to integrate Trezor support.
2196  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Problem with bw.com ( cloud mining ) phone verification on: July 14, 2016, 12:34:17 AM
Hi Guys

I few days ago I registered on bw.com to try out their B16 cloud mining option.
Registration and deposit was smooth but I cannot verify my phone.
Every single time I push the the Send verification sms button I do not receive the sms.

I tried to verify multiple times in different times of the day but no luck.
I wrote them from 2 different e-mail addresses about the issue but no answer.
I wrote them a message on their facebook page, but still no answer.

Anyone had a similar problem? Is there anyone on this forum who works for them?
Why need to verify your phone??   Many cloud mining that I join its don't need any phone verification thats the only one I hear that it's needed. Just stay with this if the support cannot answer your supplication.

You verify your phone for security, like Coinbase uses Authy. Remember BW.com is geared toward Chinese users even though you have the option of viewing website in English.
2197  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Problem with bw.com ( cloud mining ) phone verification on: July 13, 2016, 11:20:39 PM
BW.com is as legitimate as Bitmain, just not as well known as they have not really marketed much to US and Europe. They currently are mining 237 PH/s compared to 322 PH/s for Bitmain Antpool. The problem with Bitmain Hashnest is they are not selling S9 hashing power on Hashnest yet, only S7. BW.com contracts are limited to two years, not unlimited like Hashnest, and they also have an internal exchange so you can sell your hash if you want just like Hashnest.
2198  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Converting hot wallet electrum into cold one on: July 13, 2016, 11:06:48 PM
I recommend that you get an offline computer, create a new wallet, and get an address from that wallet. Then send the Bitcoin from your hot wallet to that offline wallet.
Hey, does it really matter?
I don't think anyone can break a 20 characters password

There are bitcoin trojans which just steal your password if you do not keep your computer clean and swept. While you can use cold storage with Electrum with two computers, one always kept offline, it is easier to just use Trezor or Ledger instead.
2199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixing on: July 13, 2016, 03:24:19 AM
There's no good reason to use a mixing service. You can get the same results more reliably and with much lower fees by mixing your coins on the altcoin exchanges. Here's how it works:

1) Deposit your bitcoins on the altcoin exchange of your choice
2) Spend those bitcoins to buy the altcoin of your choice
3) Withdraw your newly purchased altcoins and deposite them at a second altcoin exchange that trades that altcoin
4) Use your altcoins to purchase bitcoins, withdraw

That's it, you have now mixed your own bitcoins without having to trust a mixer not to steal your coins. Altcoin exchanges charge about 0.2% trading fees, so this method will cost you about 0.4%, compared to the 1.5-2% the mixers cost. Of course no method will make your coins 100% untraceable, but using exchanges should be enough for any purposes short of ISIS financing or comparably bad stuff. If you want an extra layer of anonymity then you can increase the number of exchanges you use to 3, 4, or however many exchanges you can find. You can use multiple altcoins, etc. etc. It's a very effective method, don't bother with mixers.

While your method is quite good you might have left a paper trail at least one of the exchanges, who know your email address, possibly other personal information and your true IP address. Here is an alternate method:

1) Using a VPN connect to shapeshift.io and use bitcoin to buy Monero and store in your local Monero wallet
2) Again using a VPN connect to xmr.to and sell your Monero for bitcoin and send to a local bitcoin wallet.

Why Monero? It intrinsically has a higher degree of privacy than Bitcoin due to the Cryptonote protocol used. It will be impossible to link the bitcoin you received back from xmr.to with the bitcoin you sent to shapeshift.io

Paper wallets are inferior to hardware wallets.
