1221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can there still be a Bitcoin Cash (BCC) fork on August 1st on: July 24, 2017, 10:10:25 PM
ViaBTC is already selling S9_BCC cloud mining that mines BTC now and will change to BCC on August 1 when the hard fork activates. There will be a fork, you can see the hashpower behind the Bitcoin ABC client at https://pool.viabtc.com/pool/bcc/state/ and that is just one mining pool.

Get your coins off exchanges and wallets like Coinbase into a solution where you have control of your private keys. Trezor, Ledger Nano S or Electrum would be my recommendations. Both Trezor and Ledger plan to split your bitcoin into BCC for you. Electrum may be more work. Looks like you are getting free BCC airdropped on August 1 as long as you own your private keys.

ViaBTC also signed the NYA
1223  Economy / Economics / Re: Valuation of Bitcoin hard forked coins; specifically BCC on: July 24, 2017, 02:31:01 AM
It is a WAG since the asset does not exist yet.
1224  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 23, 2017, 11:14:33 PM
Ok, here's a question.

When BCC splits off we all have the same amount of BCC and BTC. If I have my coins safe on paper wallets how do I go about sweeping the private key of my BCC to dump without making the cold wallets for my BTC no longer cold as I have entered the private key on an online computer?

You have to sweep your paper wallet private keys into a local wallet on your computer that supports both chains and will give you an equal amount of BTC and BCC. That solution does not exist yet though. Stay tuned. If you already have your bitcoin on a Ledger Nano S or Trezor they will most likely support both chains. Electrum may also.
1225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [UPDATED]: The OFFICIAL SegWit2x Lock-in Thread on: July 23, 2017, 09:29:54 PM
It looks like SegWit BIP141 will be active about this August 23. The 2 MB hard fork is contingent on a majority of miners switching from Core to the btc1 client.
1226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can there still be a Bitcoin Cash (BCC) fork on August 1st on: July 23, 2017, 09:27:18 PM
it's happening and it's being exchanged. currently they are exchanged at about 20% of the BTC price. which I think is quite significant. It may stay much longer than you think. It's like LTC. it can develop its own path. I'll hold both and see how it goes at the end of the year.

That is fine by me. Finally Roger and the big blockers get their own altcoin, have their own forum and subreddit and can fork off this forum.

You can follow how much hash rate ViaBTC is directing to BCC at https://pool.viabtc.com/pool/bcc/state/

If you switch to BTC view you can calculate the percentage of BCC/BTC hashing power.

I took a look at the charts, but was unable to understand anything. They were showing the BTC Pool hash rate at around 350 P. The BCC Pool hash rate on the other hand was at around 2.5 P, which is greater than their LTC Pool hash rate (200 to 250 G). So what does this mean? Is the BCC having more hash power when compared to the LTC?

It shows very little hashing power directed at BCC. That may change on August 1 and we will get a better idea of how much hashing power is going to the new altcoin when it is listed on Coinwarz. ViaBTC has been urging owners of S9 cloud mining to switch over to S9_BCC and so far it does not looks like there are many takers. They are only offering a one TH for one TH swap, they may have to sweeten the deal. They should be offering at least 3 TH/s BCC mining power for each TH/s of BTC hashing IMO.

1229  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Any Other Taint Analysis Tools (other than blockchain.info's)? on: July 23, 2017, 08:12:29 PM
You might find https://www.walletexplorer.com/ helpful. I do not know of any other free taint analysis tools. The companies that do chainanalysis KYC/AML for exchanges do not give their software away for free.

Bitmain wants Bitcoin ABC to succeed but they can not officially support it; bad form since they are signaling support for NYA, so they are using ViaBTC to do their work for them. ViaBTC does not support NYA. According to Samson Mow it is widely known in China that Bitmain is behind ViaBTC.

1233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash BCC might be a threat against the Nash Equilibrium on: July 22, 2017, 03:27:12 PM
Think of BCC as another altcoin like Litecoin which will probably be priced similarly. ViaBTC is shilling BCC hash cloud mining and I doubt many will take them up on the offer. They are even offering to swap S9 BTC cloud mining one for one for BCC cloud mining. Oh boy the deal of the century where do I sign up /s they should be offering to give you twice the amount of BTC hash you have in BCC.
1234  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Offline signing with KeepKey or Trezor on: July 22, 2017, 02:07:40 PM
Is this still an issue, or is there now an easy way of using Trezor with an offline computer?

I don't want to plug a hardware wallet into an online computer. It seems much safer to use an offline one. Is this now a solved problem?

I think you are concerned about a non issue. Your Trezor is in effect the offline computer; it is impossible for malware to get to your private keys in Trezor.
1235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Barry Silbert segwit2x agreement with >80% miner support. on: July 21, 2017, 10:13:40 PM
Is BTC.com owned by Bitmain? These guys are signalling SW instead of BIP91. Not that it's a huge issue now, but I was just curious.

Yes Bitmain launched BTC.com and mining pool in 2016.
1236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can there still be a Bitcoin Cash (BCC) fork on August 1st on: July 21, 2017, 04:21:51 PM
Bitmain started Bitcoin ABC as a result of BIP148 and publicly stated that if BIP148 did not activate neither would Bitcoin ABC. However ViaBTC seems ready to go ahead with Bitcoin ABC even planning to pre-sell Bitcoin ABC cloud mining starting July 22.
1237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The OFFICIAL SegWit2x Lock-in Thread on: July 21, 2017, 04:04:44 PM
Does does this mean no split on August 1st? and BTC will be safe in online exchanges?

As recommended before you should get your bitcoin off exchanges, Coinbase, etc before July 29. This post explains some things that could go wrong with BIP91. There is also the possibility that Bitmain may go ahead with their hardfork to Bitcoin ABC on Aug 2.

1239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The OFFICIAL SegWit2x Lock-in Thread on: July 21, 2017, 12:21:27 AM
What's next? Do we deal with the hard fork in November or is that pretty much unlikely at this point? Sorry if this seems like a silly question, I am still very new to cryptocurrency.

The 2 MB hard fork in SegWit2X is contingent on a majority of miners running the btc1 client. Right now there are only about a hundred btc1 nodes.

If you bought close to the weekly 20 MA good for you! If the ATH is taken out here are some targets to take some profits at. The 1.618 Fibonacci extension is often more accurate than the 2.618.
