I feel sorry for him, living in Moscow for the rest of my life making less than I did when I worked for Booz Allen Hamilton isn't my idea of sticking it to the NSA.

For some people, their ideology is worth more than anything. He might be earning less and surrounded by people speaking a language which he cannot comprehend. But the fact is that millions of people around the world see him as a hero, who single-handedly fought the tyranny of the NSA. We need people like him to make this planet a better living space.

21963  Other / Off-topic / Re: Buttcoin GIRL is back! on: December 26, 2013, 08:44:15 AM
lol.. someone needs to inform the radical feminists that 98% of the users here are male. And the vast majority seems to be single.  Forget about the wealth re-distribution. Let's first do the Bitcoin re-distribution.

If considerable number of females start posting like this, then the BTC wallets of many senior users will be empty within weeks.  Grin
21964  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does wikipedia remind of you the beggards on this forum? on: December 26, 2013, 08:41:26 AM
let me know when they take bitcoin, i will send them $13.37k usd worth.

If you are serious, then you can directly write an email to Jimbo Wales. 13K is quite a big amount of money, and the Wikipedia admins will do anything to get it. (Even if that means that they have to change or rewrite their policies).  Grin
21965  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoins ruined my life on: December 26, 2013, 08:39:35 AM
Hmm.. with an username which sounds like giveBTCpls, the intentions are very much clear. There are a lot of freelancer sites which give out the payments in Bitcoins. Why can't the noobs try out there instead of begging here.
21966  Other / Off-topic / Re: General Mikhail Kalashnikov, Designer of The AK-47 Gone At 94 on: December 26, 2013, 04:30:22 AM
guns still indiscriminately kill people.

Perhaps you should replace your keyboard before it continues to make such ridiculous claims on the internet.

lol... I was expecting all sorts of people here... but this was a bit too much.. guns still indiscriminately kill people ..... as if the guns have artificial intelligence and fire on their own....  Grin
21967  Other / Off-topic / Re: General Mikhail Kalashnikov, Designer of The AK-47 Gone At 94 on: December 25, 2013, 04:35:47 PM
The Germans still claim that Kalashnikov got the inspiration for his AK-47 from their machine gun Sturmgewehr 44. I have studied this a bit, but found hardly any similarities between the two.

21968  Other / Off-topic / Re: When 1 BTC = $10k, I will blow an entire bitcoin on hookers and blow on: December 25, 2013, 04:32:35 PM
So he will spend 1 BCT. Will get $ 10,000.

Ashley Dupre will cost $4,300 for half-an-hour. I don't know how much the coke will cost. Will have to check SR 2.0 for rates. Any way he will have a few hours of fun.  Grin

First of all, 'aquatic species' is a way different thing than 'fish'.

Either way, I am not comfortable with so many species dying out.

There isn't anything sacred about the pristine untouched state of nature.  It's okay if we screw around with it.

Hmm... let me guess. Let's destroy this planet and its living things. After that what we'll do? Will we go to some other planet and do the same?
21970  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-12-21]- TOI:RBI has no legal right to ban use of bitcoin on: December 25, 2013, 04:24:25 PM
Raghuram Rajan is a greedy jackal. Very close to the political mafias. Just check the paper Has Financial Development Made the World Riskier? which he has authored.
21971  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-12-23 NYPost - Feds stole my $33 million bitcoin booty - SilkRoad's DPR on: December 25, 2013, 04:20:29 PM
Maybe the evidence against him is strong enough that his best bet is to try to recover the Bitcoins to pay for the best defense he can get. Admit guilt, try to get the lowest possible sentence. Might make sense if the situation were desperate and no decent bargain was on the table for an outright confession. And it certainly does look like a pretty desperate situation for Ulbricht...

1. Even if he claims that the BTCs are his own, he will not get them as they are currently seized as a part of the investigation. Plus, it was accumulated through illegal activities.

2. The lowest possible sentence here seems to be life without parole. Then why bother with a confession?
21972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the most convincing arguments against Bitcoin? on: December 25, 2013, 04:16:36 PM
1. Buying goods with Bitcoin decreases value as merchants immediately cash out.  New money doesn't flow into falling prices of Bitcoin.

People convert fiat to BTC, in order to purchase products. So this effect is neutralized.

2. Numbers aren't easily digestible.  Ever pay 0.004994321 BTC for a loaf of bread?

That is why an increasing number of merchants use the mBTC.

3. BTC is not deflationary.  Altcoins such as LTC extend the supply if adopted.

Actually it is one of the drawbacks of the LTC.
21973  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Concern? over 50% of miners controlled by two pools on: December 25, 2013, 04:10:14 PM
The whole blockchain is now very long... it will require little bit more computational resources than just 51%.

Who knows... every now and then new supercomputers are being created with massive computational power. Will create interesting scenarios in the future.  Grin
21974  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 2013 a year in review on: December 25, 2013, 04:06:37 PM
I still remember the graph when BTC hit $1,000 for the first time. That was the most memorable moment for me this year!  Grin
21975  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is Satoshi Nakamoto? on: December 25, 2013, 03:35:59 PM
Enough evidence exists that  Sirius (Martti Malmi) was one of those people who created the Bitcoin. So he might be Satoshi.  Grin
21976  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Use another bitcoin address as your password on: December 25, 2013, 03:33:10 PM
I don't think it is a good idea. How many BTC wallets are there? May be 2 million. If a hacker can use brute force method, using all these 2 million available passwords, then it can be easily cracked.
21977  Economy / Speculation / Re: When to buy BTC? on: December 25, 2013, 02:48:00 PM
Two weeks ago, the BTC reached $480 vs the USD, which was the lowest rate for quite sometime. Right now, it is trading at $700 levels.... Either you can buy now... or wait for some time till it reaches $500.
21978  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-12-24] RBI warns India on: December 25, 2013, 02:45:34 PM
The Indian government has recently undertaken a number of useless populist measures, which has almost completely drained the treasury. They have hiked the VAT and other taxes as much as they can. Right now it seems that there is nothing more to tax.  Grin BTC might be their next target.
21979  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-12-21 New York Times - Into the Bitcoin Mines (in Iceland) on: December 25, 2013, 02:42:43 PM
Small update from the central bank on bitcoins here in Iceland.
http://www.mbl.is/vidskipti/frettir/2013/12/19/hoftin_stodva_vidskipti_med_bitcoin/

So what does this means for the Bitcoin mining business there? Any immediate threats which can affect its operation? Why can't the government in this island nation study something from Germany or Switzerland on how to deal with the BTCs?
21980  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-12-19 Central Banks Launching Worldwide Coordinated Attack On Bitcoin on: December 25, 2013, 02:40:30 PM
If you think about it, governments/central banks crackdown actually helps Bitcoin business.

I don't think so. In China, a lot of businesses have dumped the BTC as a payment option because they can't get their coins converted to fiat. But I believe that this is a temporary setback.
