221  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: up to 800GH/s on: March 10, 2014, 12:10:40 PM
Sigh.  Batch 1 "sold out" instantly because it consisted of a handful of units for family and friends. Hashfast has gone full BFL.

Unless it is self-mining, Hashfast apparently has one (1) machine that might hash at 750 m/h.  Let me repeat that.  One.

Hashfast has overdue outstanding orders and other obligations (MPP) well into the petahashes, and more broken promises than a stadium full of politicians.  Its existing customers hate the company and are suing it, but Hashfast keeps trying to find suckers to buy new equipment rather than clear its backlog.

This one machine is no more significant for Hashfast's wronged customers than its bullshit announcement that it was "shipping" on 31 December.  Hashfast shipped less than a handful of practically homemade machines but tried to generate the impression that the company had a functioning assembly line.  It did not.  It still does not.

Only a fool would order from you.
222  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Caveat emptor on: March 07, 2014, 03:10:44 AM
I worry that the end result is that most sane people will sit back and not mine, most who do mine will lose their shirts and not continue, and more hashrate will end up consolidated with major private facilities that did have the leverage to secure preferential treatment to the ultimate detriment of Bitcoin.

Worry that could be the end result?  You are behind the curve, core developer.  The process of transition is already well underway. To wit, KnC (which, ironically, largely made good on preorders).

The pre-order saga demonstrates that it's time to discard quaint notions of fair play and civil discourse on this issue, gmaxwell, because the cesspool ethics of a number of people that have been attracted to offering Bitcoin pre-order sales - I need not mention two particularly bad US-based companies, based in California and Kansas, by name - have amply shown that they simply are not responsive to ethical considerations and rational discourse.

Please stop hesitating to acknowledge this simple reality, as your failure to do so ultimately only serves to enable the same behavior that has lost both you and me value, and which is an ongoing discredit to this community.  And stop shooting the messenger.

Holy shit... Texas Bitcoin Conference.  Austin. March 5th and 6th.  Hashfast is there?  Yes, they are.

Edit: Scratch that... they may not physically be there.  Lucky for them!

CoinTerra™ ships its 1,000th TerraMiner™ Bitcoin miner. Now powering over 6% of the Bitcoin network.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=498592.0

1,000 miners in less than a month.

Hey Hashfast_CL, Amy, Simon, Eduardo... I'll let you guys sleep in my spare bedroom if you want to come down here to Austin so Cointerra can teach your failing company how to actually get product out the door.
227  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: up to 800GH/s [Non Self Moderated] on: March 04, 2014, 11:30:54 PM
1. Take customer BTC for preorder to deliver in October.

2. Not deliver by October nor Dec 31st.

3. When questioned about orders just ignore them.

4. Create new product and attempt to sell it.

5. Fail miserably.

 Tongue

You forgot:

6. Get sued.

7. Lose reputation.

8. Worry about criminal indictments.
228  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: up to 800GH/s on: March 04, 2014, 10:37:31 PM
I like the irony of Hashfast_CL's signature quote, since the behavior of entities like his company will come to be cited as an important factor as to why the bitcoin space becomes fairly tightly regulated in the mid-2010s.
229  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast BabyJet users thread on: March 04, 2014, 07:09:50 PM
For those of you it seems they now have an official forum, http://forums.hashfast.com/forum/software/firmware-updates/34-firmware-0-4

Also Seems the update was released about 3 days ago.

I created a user there, but apparently users can't post / reply / do anything there (?)

New signups need approval before they can post -- approval which we are aiming to do within 24 hours.

I can't imagine why.  Cough, cough.

Let's keep the discussion and thread here, folks.  HF will edit out the disgruntled customers and problems it can't fix over at its own forum.  This will create false impressions suggesting there are fewer problems than there are in reality.

230  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast BabyJet users thread on: March 04, 2014, 04:34:49 PM
Any way to install the new firmware if you are running windows and have no interest in getting the Raspberry Pi back out?
231  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Why you shouldn't buy Hashfasts new "up to 800GH/s" "product" on: March 03, 2014, 01:55:07 PM
Lmao why don't you just ban them
They deleted you from your own forum

Gmaxwell has a quaint idea of fair play.

Although, as he says, he has not threatened to use his moderator powers against Hashfast_CL, he did threaten to ban ME.

This was because I mentioned Hashfast's unsavory employees in the other thread and then reposted it when Hashfast_CL deleted.

Polite opposition might seem chivalrous to gmaxwell, but I've learned not to extend such courtesies to entities with cesspool ethics like Hashfast's.
232  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: up to 800GH/s on: March 01, 2014, 05:01:38 AM
So when is MPP being delivered for Batch-1 customers?!!?

Not to mention that Hashfast hasn't even shipped a large part of its Batch 2 yet.

Plus the upgrade boards.

And the MPP, which you mention.

Then there's batch 3.

And batch 4.

Well, I'd say the "Evo" customers - if there really are any folks foolish enough - can look forward to seeing their hardware sometime around Thanksgiving. US Thanksgiving.

233  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: February 28, 2014, 07:50:32 AM
Ask to buy some more hardware and see how fast they get back to you.

Well, everybody can just write them with some inane question about a possible hardware purchase and then, when they reply, say "Ok, so, while I have you, I wanted to ask about... [insert problems with existing orders here]."

I tried that and they respond with "I'm not authorized to discuss that topic but I will pass your request along and a representative will call you back". Nothing happens after that.
See, they responded quickly!

Assholes that deserve to die.
234  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast BabyJet users thread on: February 28, 2014, 07:39:41 AM
Can we get some reviews here on the new firmware and cgminer?

I have 3.12.0 running stably and hashing 425-435 at 600 clock speed.

Any reason to upgrade?

So far, it seems like maybe if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
235  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: February 28, 2014, 07:36:48 AM
That seems peculiar given that they've yet to return my phone call from last week or acknowledge the change of shipping address request I returned to them last month.

A customer is someone who hasn't paid them yet.

Someone who HAS paid them is a victim.

Ask to buy some more hardware and see how fast they get back to you.

Well, everybody can just write them with some inane question about a possible hardware purchase and then, when they reply, say "Ok, so, while I have you, I wanted to ask about... [insert problems with existing orders here]."
236  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: February 25, 2014, 07:56:40 AM
Erin has a lucrative career ahead of her as an expert witness testifying against Hashfast.  Any folks who are suing really should seek her out.  I'm sure she has quite a tale to share.
It would be interesting to hear the tale, but between the nda that she signed and everything else i don't really think it to be viable... (hey Erin, if you disagree just send me an email, my_nickname_here@gmail.com).

About John "leaving" only because he is not on that page anymore... Seriously?
Edit: people PMed me saying that he really left... Wut?

You have no idea what she did or did not sign.  Hashfast could hardly run a web page.  I wouldn't count upon them having the foresight to impose NDAs on their employees.

NDAs can't prevent anyone from disclosing criminal activity.

But I'm back to thinking they were mainly just stoopid.

And then, when they could have reached out to Batch 1 customers, they instead circled the wagons, locking themselves into what is apparently an ever-tightening spiral, a death spiral, around and around the drain...
237  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast BabyJet users thread on: February 20, 2014, 04:05:53 PM
what is the best direction for the fans, blowing onto the vregs or other way round?

Earlier in the thread, per the HF dude, on a BJ, all fans should be sucking into the box, except the two on top of the radiator.  A lot of BJ's were shipped with one or more fans oriented in the wrong direction.
238  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: February 19, 2014, 10:37:02 PM
I guess this is wishful thinking but it seems that since the new boxes are shipping right after the last email said all of batch 4 would have shipped, it seems that they have their manufacturing pipeline up now...

Yes, wishful thinking.  It appears to me that most of batch 2 hasn't even shipped yet.  With all the delays, even if their sheet works better now (and that's taking them at their word), they are still trending further behind the curve.

We are shipping and working through our order chain for batch 2, 3 & 4 as fast as the availability in the supply chain permits.

Due to individual supply chain restraints we don’t have exact dates for your individual order.
Batch 2 is being shipped in order of receipt of payment.
Batch 3 and 4 is anticipated to ship by March 31st.

We have been updating our customer service process and we are currently working through our backlogged inquires.  We have caught up and would like to apologize for the delays you have experienced with our reply time.   To serve you better and faster, we are also busy expanding our customer service staff.

Somebody over in the support thread claims HF is offering refunds on upgrade boards.  Anyone know if there's any truth to this?

If I saw an upgrade board today, I'd probably take it, but it sounds to me like there's a buttload of B2 that hasn't shipped, and I can't imagine they'll ship upgrade boards before BJs and Sierras.  If they can't start getting more shit out the door soon...

My upgrade board was supposed to come out of Batch 2... if they are shipping batch 2, then?

With 650-700 g/hash miners fetching over US $5000 on ebay, maybe...
