For all the positive spin of KNC

Here is a place to put your faith in them if you truly believe !!!

http://bitbet.us/bet/472/kncminer-will-deliver-asic-devices-before-october-1st/

You can get ~ 2:1 odds paid out if you believe KNC can deliver before October !!!

After really not being engaged with KNC & their ASIC project...after reading for the last 2 hours I really doubt they can deliver and the previous happy happy joy joy pictures are after Josh explains to KNC that you dont really have to deliver anything within any real time frames

Thats why they are in a group hug  Grin

...lolz

Good luck.

All,

I would like to say that EVERYTHING that needs to be done at this point in time for a September delivery has indeed been done.
We are on track for delivery and we know of nothing currently to the contrary.

There is not a single part in our systems that has a longer delivery time than the time we still have available.

Yes that does imply that things that don’t need to be ordered yet have not been ordered. The reason behind that is we simply don’t need to order them yet, We do  have contracts with all suppliers we need to have contracts with Those contracts contain delivery times and the associated order dates by which we must confirm the amounts (and of course pay).

I hope this removes confusion

KnCMiner

Hi Guys

We would like to say that. Yes....we did tape-out of the ASIC some time ago. The exact details of the ASIC schedule, volumes, vendor etc. is kept internal since it's very sensitive information towards competitors. The product development tasks are on-track."

We are still on schedule to begin shipping in September.

Thanks
KnCMiner Team

what happens if they deliver before the betting is closed? lol
Then the bet is immediately paid and closed. What else.
225  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Can KNCMiner really deliver 28 nanometers? on: August 03, 2013, 05:35:09 AM
how much do you win if you are right?
There's a formula for figuring that out, check the faq. It depends on when you bet and how much the opposition bets. This is a juicy bet right now because it's nearly 50/50 money either way.

so what happens if I bet BTC now, I win what .50? 1btc? any idea?
Are you betting yes or no?

A 1.0 btc bet on YES right now would yield you 1.91 BTC according to my numbers.

isnt it about the same payout? on either yes or no since it's almost 50/50?
It's not 50/50 anymore since the last bet went in.

Personally I think they'll begin shipping by middle of September.

Awesome... just put 2 btc on the NO Cheesy  (once the slow ass btc net gets it shiz together Sad )

Should i start to talk up there chances of delivery to get a bigger payout...is this how it works ....lolz  ??
Really? Where's your bet? I don't see it. Only two bets have been added since I posted that, 1.0 on yes, and 0.50 on yes. Where's your 2.0 no vote??? You posted that hours ago, didn't you? It doesn't take hours for bets to post.

Can KNCMiner really deliver 28 nanometers?

I guess maybe 6 months later, if they are lucky.
If you're so sure, setup some BTC bets or something and put your money where your mouth is.

I'm going on the record as having bet 0.2 BTC on September delivery on BitBet.us. So I guess that makes me fairly optimistic about them but not so much that I'm willing to bet any serious money.
Can you link us to the bet? I might want to pile in with you and make some money off these people's apparently unfounded BFL-inspired-butthurt speculation.

Ah, here it is:

http://bitbet.us/bet/472/kncminer-will-deliver-asic-devices-before-october-1st/

Looks like the bets are currently ~2:1 in favor of them delivering on-time, though the amounts wagered favors the 'no' side.

If you're so sure, setup some BTC bets or something and put your money where your mouth is.

Why?
Is reality going to change because someone locked up some bitcents in a six month bet?

Because if you're so sure, then it's a profit opportunity for you. Talk is cheap, but you'll discover just how sure you are by whether you're willing to take the action of betting on your belief. And furthermore, seeing those bets will serve as incentive for those who know something to bet one way or the other, creating a price signal, giving us information about what's likely to happen, thus helping curate market expectations.

And if they're only betting bitcents then obviously it's not a very strong conviction.
232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 03, 2013, 12:09:57 AM
and 3 months ago, KnC was an idea to "make lots of money".
No, three months ago you found out about their plan when they went public. We don't in fact know how long this has been in planning behind the scenes, but probably at least since January, and even more likely into 2012. By the time we heard about it, things were already at a very advanced stage we must assume, for they already by then had a deal with Orsoc, which we heard about almost immediately after, and such deals take time to organize, communicate and get done, and they also had in place their design which was nearly ready to tape out, and they'd already planned their Mars miner which they executed in less than 6 weeks into a running miner, which is fairly impressive.

I have to balk at your assertion that 3 months ago KNC was a twinkle in someone's eye. This company has done an unknown amount of planning and work prior to their public debut, and we probably won't hear the retrospective on that until after they ship the first gen and have breathing room to do interviews and throw parties and the like.

+3000TH. That sounds very scary for anyone wanting to meet ROI. Anyway...

Would they need a 55mmx55mm package for a 11mmx11mm chip??
Thus why I got a refund on my Avalon :\
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 02, 2013, 11:54:10 PM

All they need is Dave from Bitfury and Asicminer and BOOM.....CARTEL !!!!

paranoid thinking, now we saw an avalon - bfl "delay'n mine "alliance  Grin

let's wait... september is coming  Cool

Well, the trouble is that there are no facts. We're pretty much in the dark. Stating "things are progressing as planned" does not bring much peace after you've heard it time and time again to turn into crazy delays. I'm not saying that that is what is going on, just that some actual status updates with facts and some proof would be much more valuable than any statement.
You people with your BFL-induced PTSD who are now ASIC-conspiracy theorists as a result. Stop judging others by your BFL experience. BFL's failure does not make it more or less likely that another company will or won't ship.

Spent half a day reading 200-240 pages and just finished.
Good, good, now start on this (much shorter but also informative) thread ^_^

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=231739.0

Not going to ask any stupid questions like some of the guys here  Grin but will continue to follow the topic for future updates as I'm really interesed in investing in 2 Jupiter miners Smiley

I just have one question and I hope it's not very stupid: Why the Xcrowd Pavonis (the 1st i the list) has negative ROI (in BTC) with contant 17% and 20% increase in difficulty and Jupiter/Saturn/Mercury don't?
So basically it shows that the Xcrowd Pavonis will lose 1.48BTC in 1 year if difficulty rises 20% every 2 weeks for the same period of 1 year, right?

The chart doesn't specify if it calculates power costs too.

Link your chart?

Ps: They seem to be doing fine.
K, just explain, do you have hot air venting out of that room not being shown in those pictures, as well as the cool air coming in you did show???

Not to nit pick, but how do you KNOW they have taped out.   I do not know they have taped out.   I have READ a post from KNC that they taped out but then again I read a post last November from Inaba saying that he had just sent a prototype to the lab for certification testing and we all (now) know that is not true.

That's actually a reasonable point. The truth is we can not be certain that they did tape out, but we estimate based on everything else that happened so far with this company and the backgrounds of the people involved that there is a high probability they are telling the truth. You might be inclined to weigh things differently, but your point is valid - until we see a video of a Jupiter hashing that is (how long KNC? Smiley).
Imagine they've got chips ordered and PCBs ordered, I assume they'll receive sample chips early on and sample PCBs--perhaps it's not long before they'll have a couple Jupiters to work on in actuality. We know they promised a Jupiter to that couple doing the documentary on living on Bitcoin for a month was it, and they've probably got one for developing the software and whatnot. So, may not be long now before we see a working unit in actuality, before the others are put together even. Is that not so? Are they likely to receive sample chips or not?

Has anyone reached any IMPORTANT conclusion yet? Has anyone proven anything?
I am on page #42 (and still reading) but this will take much time to end this topic.
I am thinking of investing like $10K on their miners but I am a bit afraid.
Worth or not? Real and works as should be? Deliver on time?
Probably. Def real, don't know the rest, but have taped out.

We don't know for sure, only proof we have is inductive evidence, and their claim that they have taped out jives with other facts, like their access to Orsoc foundry agreements. The claim makes it more likely that they will ship on time, since they've been forthright in every other aspect so far we don't yet have reason to disbelieve them. Judging an investment where information is scarce is all about inductive weightings of the known facts. These guys have already surpassed major hurdles in credibility and meeting in person and getting the prototype device running.
