I'm certainly hoping they deliver on time and do it in a professional manner so that we can forget about BFL and Avalon. Nothing that I'd like more than that. As many others on this forum, I suppose.
Of course, but please don't throw wild accusations around, just to freak people out. Some won't bother to check facts either and take your word as gospel.

Well, the trouble is that there are no facts. We're pretty much in the dark. Stating "things are progressing as planned" does not bring much peace after you've heard it time and time again to turn into crazy delays. I'm not saying that that is what is going on, just that some actual status updates with facts and some proof would be much more valuable than any statement.

Spent half a day reading 200-240 pages and just finished. Good, good, now start on this (much shorter but also informative) thread ^_^ https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=231739.0Not going to ask any stupid questions like some of the guys here but will continue to follow the topic for future updates as I'm really interesed in investing in 2 Jupiter miners I just have one question and I hope it's not very stupid: Why the Xcrowd Pavonis (the 1st i the list) has negative ROI (in BTC) with contant 17% and 20% increase in difficulty and Jupiter/Saturn/Mercury don't? So basically it shows that the Xcrowd Pavonis will lose 1.48BTC in 1 year if difficulty rises 20% every 2 weeks for the same period of 1 year, right? The chart doesn't specify if it calculates power costs too. Link your chart?

sure it seems a good thing to do, but I believe that it's up to @FeedbackLoop to do it since he raised the quest in the first place. I just wanna said that namecoin is SHA-256 based, again quoting wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptocurrency) : "@FeedbackLoop" did not raise the quest @WastedLTC raised the quest and @FeedbackLoop told him about the poll KNC did regarding alt coins. That said @FeedbackLoop would of course be interested in namecoin merged mining but he does not understand enough about the subject. Pity to hear about the missed "Kano deadline". Sorry @FeedbackLoop I didn't mean to misattribute

You people with your BFL-induced PTSD who are now ASIC-conspiracy theorists as a result. Stop judging others by your BFL experience. BFL's failure does not make it more or less likely that another company will or won't ship.

Of course we are and like I assumed and they confirmed they would rather keep their competition in the dark as to how they are progressing. That's understandable, good for them and us. This is a formula one race. You have to play your hand shrewdly, or give away ground. McLaren doesn't show Ferrari it's car design for the upcoming season prior to it starting. That would be madness. KnC have bent over backwards to prove they are a serious contender and still have an open door for peeps. Hashfast makes people sign NDAs. Not that NDAs are worth anything. They are impossible to prove when information slips. There's not much we can do. Come late Sept review the situation and exercise the refund if your bum squeaks...

You are officially an Idiot. (newbie) Try reading a bit before looking so dumb. They've got 10+ YEARS in ASIC Development, and yes, 28nm as well. Whereas, BFL had NONE.
ALSO... (to others)Saying they missed a deadline is TOTAL BS. (the mock-up statement was an email between THEM, and in no way a deadline on machines, or indication they are behind.) Ever stop to think that maybe they are AHEAD of schedule? More likely IMHO, Why send a mock-up, when a few first-run total machines may be days/weeks away? I think sending out mock-ups would be a huge waste of time if they are "On track" with Sept deliveries. It would take the boys at CGMiner...what?... a whole day?

Admittedly they can't take ckolivas or kano's time for granted and have to allow any coding to fit around their own schedule...

agreed... with that in mind, I wouldn't worry till last week of AUG about that; they would still have an entire month. I mean, really.... set a few flags & parameters till it runs good. Might take 1/2 hour, might take a day, but seriously, in any case.... Will happen in short-order, so the Mock-up argument is not an issue to me at all, until the machines ship out to customers, whatever day in Sept that may be. We already know their code works on CGMiner, per open-day. The rest will be quick & easy IMHO
I'll be bold, and "Call it" right now.... KNC_FakeNews... August 19th, 2013(or thereaboutz) .. "Cklovas & I(Kano) just received a Jupiter to Tune CGMiner to... A real Jupiter, not a mock-up."

Lets hope you are right. August was indeed a possible delivery date at some point in the pre-order era. Hosting requests would then explode.

(Orama is "Me", but not ME!) Me: So that there was going to be my next so where are the weak links in the chain basically? Marcus None (laughs) Me: So...your, your that confident? Marcus: Yes (General laughing) Marcus: Yes, yes, absolutely... Sam: We have tested absolutely everything. We are over-cooling it, we are over powering it; 1000w Marcus interupting: Oh yeah, we have margins on each. Sam: We have margins on margins. Marcus: we have margins and margins on margins just to make sure that we are reducing the risk throughout the whole cell. I mean we have redesigned the RTL code for the ASIC in a way so that we make it easier for the backend guys to do the backend to reduce risk. Andreas: The devices have to run 24/7 as well. So we have to be confident that when people put the device on the shelf, can run it not for only one day, but hopefully a year down the line. Sam: In Dubai, in an apartment, without the air-con on!

Just a little bit of info regarding KnC They contact ckolivas and myself at the end of May regarding cgminer and related information. They then stated that within July they'd be sending (in July) mock up devices (with an internal RPi) for us to work with on cgminer, then in September the real (faster) devices to tune cgminer to. I have, however, heard nothing since, but no doubt expect to hear something soon. I'll keep everyone posted if anything happens Knc said that within July they were sending to Kano and Ckolivas mock up devices to work on cgminer implementation. So, now we have passed a concrete deadline we can all verify. Kano, did you receive the mock up device? I sent a PM to Kano a few days ago. I asked if he had been in contact with him or CKolivas KNC He answer this: http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/913/inpw.jpgLulz I did post after that ... quoted post ...

Yeah Kano... silly. I especially find amusing..."Concrete Deadline" Hahahahaha ROFL, what a WHINER. How about this for the whiners... They could have sent it out last week, or yesterday, and it would still be in transit, but within the time as written. "Concrete Deadline"... Where the hell did that idea come from anyway? "Soft milestone" at best; it was an email, not an announcement.

So where are the "identical but less-powerful" boxes that should have been delivered "over the summer" which September does not fit into... Pretty much as things are going right now exactly what's stated in that discussion will happen - devices might ship but will not be supported as the devs wouldn't have had enough time to implement support in the miner...
Ask them?! Jeez man send an email if you're that concerned. Let the rest of us know instead of whining on the forum trying to stir the pot. Did someone say Pot? ?

$800k for a 28nm full-mask set? This is an amazing offer, at which foundry will I get it that cheap? Get an itemized quote, do you think you pay the full $2MM up front? If you do, let me know I will gladly negotiate for you next time for 10%. that is the payment you will be making PRIOR to your mask. There are other payments, but you seem to have an inkling of what you are talking about so you know that, don't you? That I do not believe KnC is producing a fully designed asic should be obvious by now.
