221  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who does gambling addiction affect the most? on: January 11, 2024, 03:58:04 PM
A gambler whose relative depend on for their basic needs like payment of bills, feeding etc would suffer most from the consequences of the addicted gambler, of course we knew how such gamblers blew up their money in their bid to win a jackpot unfortunately money that is suppose or meant to cater and to take care of their dependant relatives was wasted on irrelative thing it's a pity that relatives of some addicted gamblers had been passing through hardship caused by an individual to make matters worse many of those addicted gambler would never listen to counsel or advice until they ended up bankrupt.
222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF officially approved! on: January 11, 2024, 11:40:59 AM
This may not be normal as bitcoin ETFs should be able to bring more money into the market which then causes prices to increase drastically - but it may take some time for this news to be confirmed. If this news is true - then I think the market is really going to party in the next little while. Let's wait and see how he reacts.
Perhaps it was true and officially approved but unfortunately, the impact is not overwhelming as people are still confused about the announcement due to hacking incidents. The slow response is likely what we experience but who knows in the coming days, some individuals may be just waiting for some clarifications.  Or maybe, we just assume that this (pump) would happen and it fails. I'd rather think that halving is more influential than this.
Anyways, let us see what will happen the next couple of day otherwise, the majority are wrong.
Actually I am not expecting an impact on price of Bitcoin sequel to SEC approval of Bitcoin ETF the impact would be gradually because a lot of hodlers who dump before the announcement hoping to ride on bearish trend had it been the announcement was negative now that the fundamental outlook is positive a lot of investors would come on board thus triggers massive pump in it price  for now the price is on a strong resistance zone at $47764 with influx of more investors based on SEC approval the resistance would be broken and the likely price target after  a rally is $64K+ even with the upcoming halving is another catalyst to pump the price.
223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woes of gambling on: January 11, 2024, 06:07:06 AM
Take casino games for example especially jackpot casino games there is no way you can tell me that all of them are structured in such a way that they randomly always make money for the house if you ask me gambling is a fraud that has been used to trick people into believing that their choices matter it does not everyone that gambles is just there to make money for the casino unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about human nature 💔💔💔
Every casinos gambler wanted to try their own luck possibly they can hit a jackpot and win to be among the randomly pick, many of them are of view that they gamble for fun so unconcerned about the fact Casino make money and if those gamblers that visit casinos or gamble in Casino are not addicted or gamble responsibly I don't think there is anything wrong with that because it is personal decision, though I am not a casino gambler and those who choose to bet in casino has their own reasons for doing so moreso that type of gambling has been existing for years and it would continue to exist as far as human being exist.
224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 11, 2024, 05:54:45 AM
They have not good form for years and this means Chelsea should make some changes to get better results otherwise they should just be open to getting the Europe league ticket for the next season while the Chelsea we knew in the past could even race for the Premier League title with other teams.
I think even the fans of Chelsea know their teams will be in a bad situation with the current owner they have got.

Chelsea are difficult to predict and they do it repeatedly most of my bets lost on Chelsea, even though Chelsea lost in the first leg I was sure they would turn things around in the second leg but still I won't place a bet there I don't want to be trapped anymore, Chelsea are only 1 goal behind and they can score 2-4 goals while playing at home. In the Premier League Chelsea will face Fulham, again Chelsea can still be relied on when playing at home.
Luckily the EFL Cup uses the Home Away system, otherwise Pochettino would have become the target of the anger of Chelsea fans who were very angry because Chelsea lost to a team like Middlesbrough. Pochettino must be able to turn things around in the second leg, he must take advantage of the Stamford bridge to take Chelsea to the final.
Chelsea must perform optimally, like when they beat Preston North End in the FA Cup and when they beat Luton Town and Crystal Palace in the EPL. Victory over Middlesbrough will open up opportunities for Chelsea to win the EFL Cup trophy, even if they ultimately lose in the Final against Liverpool or Fulham, at least they have fought for a title.

Truly Pochettino only chances of winning a trophy for Chelsea this season is by winning EFL or FA cup thus the semifinal return leg has to be won by Chelsea in Stanford Bridge on 23th January, though Chelsea has themselves to blame in their loss against Middleborough for being wasteful in front of goal, I still believe they would qualify for the finals to play either Liverpool or Fulham. Meanwhile there is too much expectations from Chelsea fans a team that is undergoing rebuilding process  would not produce an instant impact, recall that majority of the team key players had left to Saudi Arabian league and Pochettino new signings are yet to find their feet in the team once the team click definitely they would be unstoppable.
225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I could have won bigger. on: January 10, 2024, 04:50:18 PM
If you had lost the bet you would have been happy not to have collected $10 from your friend now reverse is case you felt sad for not getting $10 from your friend which would have earn you $500 if you had bet with the whole money, of course your reaction to the outcome of the situation is normal, however you should count yourself lucky for winning $50 bet remember this proverb "half a loaf is better than none" you needed to move on after the missed opportunity there are lot of betting opportunities ahead though bet wisely and responsibly to avoid addiction or have a mindset of winning massively by staking high.
226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 10, 2024, 04:36:00 PM
~~~
Chelsea is one team one cannot rely on,they were really poor in last night's game,although they played all they could to make sure they were able to get a point,but Middleborough were too solid defensively for Chelsea to break their defence.It is really embarrassing that Chelsea  would lose to a team that's not in the Premier league,and with all the players who they spent so much money on to sign in the transfer window.I wonder how their fans will feel when they see a team that's not even on thesame level with Chelsea win them,and defend the goal till the last minute of the game.Pochetino really need to work on that team again,and change their strategy, else,the premier league will be too hot for them to survive in.
Chelsea are clearly not as strong as they have been in previous seasons at this point, so I don't think that's all that surprising. This team is populated by many new players and so far several coaches who have worked with them have still failed to make Chelsea better. Pochettino has also not shown any improvement at Chelsea this season which would likely be considered a failure, but he still has plenty of time to think about improvement.
So far Chelsea have won 3 of their last 5 matches in the Premier League and have collected 28 points in 20 matches. There are 18 more games that Pochettino can take advantage of this season and fight for a place in Europe, but I'm skeptical about that.
From my own point of view it's like Chelsea lack a competent striker and most of their attackers are poor finisher they are not clinical in front of goal the likes of Jackson, Palmer, Sterling and Boja are prone to missing clear scoring chances in their match against Middleborough Palmer missed three clear chances Jackson too had a poor record of goal scoring since he came to the club, though Nkunku is back from injury probably he may be the team best goal scorer, meanwhile this is Pochettino first season in charge of the club though the team had been average so far in the league, however I think the manager should be given more time to prove himself till the end of the season.
227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: January 09, 2024, 05:14:16 PM
Every gambler has a different view or opinion on how they gamble the person mentioned by the OP might be involved in lottery sort of gambling or Casinos which is mostly gambled on the daily basis thus their mindset of winning or having a brighter chances of winning a jackpot if played daily is absolutely wrong knowing that one in a million wins a jackpot thus the consequences of gambling everyday would lead to addiction, I had personal experience with a pool gambler who gamble almost every day with a mindset of winning huge someday yet couldn't win a jackpot, I gamble on sport bets which is usually during weekends or occasionally midweek matches and I don't have the mindset of winning big but to earn extra income.
228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bet on favorites early in the week & underdogs late in the week strategy... on: January 09, 2024, 05:03:34 PM
I am by no means a professional gambler, and therefore I've certainly got plenty to learn (one of the reasons I like being active in this part of the forum).  I was recently listening to a gambling talk radio podcast and they were saying one basic rule of thumb to live by when sports betting is to bet favorites in the early part of the week and under-dogs in the later part of the week as the spread tends to favor this strategy.
So I'm just curious if the sports betters in here take this "rule of thumb" strategy seriously and tend to follow it.  Or if there's any experience that says this may not be all that great of a strategy.  Thoughts?
In as much as betting or placing a bet in the earlier part of the week doesn't or cannot alter the outcome of the match I am not bothered placing bet at that time though the odd or spread might be high what matter most to me is picking the sure bets a day before the matches for instance picking my bets weekend matches on Thursday and Friday while picking bets for midweek UCL matches on Sunday and Monday with the aim of accumulating the odds to 3.00 to 4.00 though as from now I will take a close observation of the odds if there are noticeable difference then I might start my pick very early to accumulate more odds.
229  Economy / Economics / Re: Imagine African countries using Bitcoin to pay salaries, on: January 08, 2024, 06:40:02 PM
I don't know if the government of any African country have adopted the system of paying salaries in Bitcoin, but I know here is Nigeria they haven't, it's possible to pay employees using Bitcoin or other crypto currencies ,
With the services of some crypto currency payroll agencies  like Bitwage,papaya global, ontop,  which will make it possible for the government to pay their workers in Bitcoin or other crypto currencies and can be sent  into their digital wallet,
Since it has to do with the government another agency can be set up in the country in respect to paying salaries as Bitcoin which will somehow help in the growth of the economy of the country.
No African country would like to support a payment gateway like Bitcoin which they don't have control over in view of that it is not possible for any government to adopt Bitcoin for payment of salary, majority of the countries are not crypto friendly Nigeria recently lifted the ban on cryptos, even if the government eventually adopt Bitcoin for salary payment how many employees are crypto enthusiast? I believe they are just few compared to other users who are investors and traders, however with crypto enlightenment and growing adoption with time it adoption for payment would come to reality.
230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin ETF is not Approved on: January 08, 2024, 02:19:03 PM
What if Bitcoin ETF is not Approved
Whereas optimism is high as regards the approval of Bitcoin ETF which could be a milestone for investor to come in. Bitcoin topped $42,000 in December 2023 and the yearly gain compared from 2021 to date is 160%. One major factor at play was the hope to list Bitcoin ETF which is a very progressive discussion between the Asset managers and the Securities and exchange commissions.
When we plan we plan for possible eventuality and please do not consider this negative bias. Wisdom Tree, BlackRock etc. has meet the criterial as said and are waiting for a positive signal. Should we bank on it. The question is still pondering in my mind if it doesn't go as suggested or the approval is denied what then happens?
I can only see a sudden fall if Bitcoin ETF is not approved and you may as well add your input on this. However, from now till 2026 will be promising for BTC as there would be favorable outcome. It is a game of patience.
Non approval of Bitcoin ETF would spark a sudden dump in the price of Bitcoin from fundamental point of view of the market immediately when the news was announced, of course that impact would be momentary, however how far the downward trend would reach is unpredictable after the announcement, however the price recovery is sure because Bitcoin halving is coming up soon thus there is would be a gradual price recovery as we approach the halving this is based on the fact that price history repeat itself in every cycle of Bitcoin halving it is usually accompany and synonymous with high rise in it price.
231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 08, 2024, 09:57:39 AM
Im seeing that so many people were talking about this. This transfer saga has been lasting for a few years and finally we have come to the end.
https://www.football-espana.net/2024/01/07/psg-star-kylian-mbappe-reaches-agreement-with-real-madrid-report
Here we go again. Mbappe to Madrid every transfer window
They agreed in 2022, and Mbappe even accepted Madrid's terms but decided to stay.
As a Mbappe fan, I want him. Madrid with him is essentially unbeatable, but I won't believe it till the club says something.
"Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" I won't be fooled again.
I think all the latest news about Mbappe move to Real Madrid are mere rumour and speculations even if the news is true or real Mbappe would only move to Real Madrid in summer transfer window provided that he had agreement on personal terms, I believe the news can only be real after the end of this season I don't why the speculation is now out during the present January transfer window since he is not making the move now, personally I think all these rumours and speculations are distractions on him though I believe this wouldn't affect his performance for PSG, however I would also like to see him join Real Madrid in summer to team up all other star-studded youngster in the club.
232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one did you use to gamble with more on: January 08, 2024, 09:09:11 AM
I prefer staking before matches start when I started to gamble as a newbie. I later prefer virtual matches. I left both to staking on live matches which is what I gamble with most on bookies now.
This is just for fun. Let us post and have fun to know which one that most people on this forum that are posting on this gambling board like most.
Do not gamble more than you can afford to lose.
I do stake before matches having done all the pre-matches analysis thereafter pick my accumulated bets, I bet mostly on strong team to win a weak team, both team to score, over 1.5 etc all odds accumulated to maximum of 3.00 to 4.00, I am aware of betting on lives matches inplay for instance first half draw, no goals by either sides etc my problem with inplay betting is that I would prefer accumulating my bets but due to time factor that is why I prefer placing my bet before matches thereafter close my App to perform other tasks or concentrate on watching TV when my team is playing a match, though I do visit LiveScore or Flashscore to monitor the scores of my bets, I also bet with the amount of money I can afford to lose.
233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should mentally unstable people be allowed to gamble? on: January 07, 2024, 10:49:24 AM
Recently I was around a physical bet shop close to my area and I observed a man who was shabbily dressed walking in the gambling house. I got into the place to observe what his intentions were. He walked straight to the gaming attendant, placed his bets in a highly coordinated manner and quietly walked out of the physical gambling house. From the way he was well organized, you will never know that he was mentally unsound apart from his dirty clothes and unkept hair and beard.
When I inquired from the attendant, she said he was a regular customer and that he usually raised money for gambling through the manual jobs he does around the area. She also told me that he has never misbehaved and acted violently in the gambling house so she was comfortable with him.
My question now is are there any moral, ethical or legal obligation to bar a person from gambling after physically observing that he is mentally unstable?
I wouldn't say the gambler mentioned by the OP is total insane he may be partially mentally unstable if he can place his bet without any input from anyone and knows the right thing to do without being guided notwithstanding his dressing that shouldn't use as a yardstick to label him as mentally unstable, meanwhile it can be difficult to allow someone who is totally mentally unstable to gamble of course we knew the nature of some of them they can be violent which gambling shop would allow a violent gambler to their shop? Absolutely none such type of people who exhibit that character wouldn't near a gambling or betting shop to gamble infact shop owners wouldn't tolerate such the fact that the person mentioned by the OP conducted himself well means he is mentally sound.
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to check if an altcoin is a scam on: January 07, 2024, 10:34:38 AM
Some of the things op had listed can be available on crypto project and the project still ended up to be a rug pull.
Many of these devs that are always creating new projects in the market allowing investors to put the money and withing a specific time, the token disappears and the liquidity drop to zero. Many of these scammers that are found of creating multiple project knows all these things and for their project to have large number of investors they would do everything possible to lure investors to put their money.
Exactly majority of features listed by the OP is not a yardstick to determine a real project care to know that some fake or scam projects do hire social media influencers to hype their project on various social platforms yet ended up as scam unfortunately crypto market is unregulated thus any Tom, Dick and Harry can create a token promote it vigorously such that it would look real and collect investors funds thereafter disappeared into thin air without a trace, I had personally experienced such a project in 2018 it developers created an impression of being a credible project unfortunately ended up as scam
235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 07, 2024, 08:22:09 AM
Chelsea played a very good game; they dominated the match completely, they proved to be the best team in the match, their players showed quality, and they won the match at the end, which is exactly as expected by so many people, including Chelsea fans, because it will not be good if Chelsea is eliminated in the FA Cup. Chelsea needs to look serious in the FA Cup; they need to win the FA Cup to do the same thing as Manchester United did last season so that their fans will have relief from all the players they signed for huge amounts of money, so that the team management will feel relief and the team will be able to sign more players by avoiding financial fair play.
Yes, Chelsea won the match with a landslide victory against a very weak team but yet struggled in the first half. If Chelsea play like this against any present top six teams in the EPL, the game would have been over in first half for Chelsea. Unless drastic improvement happens, I still don't see Chelsea in Europe competition next season.
If there is anything I hate about Chelsea this season, it is their sluggish style of play. You don't have to be romancing ball before you score. You need to take any available chance, take the ball to opposition box, give a killer pass and take the shot when necessary. All these useless passes without vision is just not the way forward at the moment. Fortunately, they advanced to next round.
Preston tried and held on till first half which ended goalless unfortunately fell in the second half as the team couldn't hold on as they conceded four goal in the second half Chelsea, no doubt is the better side having dominated the match with 70% possession and 12 shots on target against the championship side, remember FA Cup is usually synonymous with upset I believe Chelsea was a bit cautious not to concede against Preston they are frustrated in the first half, though you are worried about Chelsea sluggish style of play but I believe that would change with time because Pochettino hasn't gotten a real first eleven squad yet and once the team clicks they would be unstoppable.
236  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your gambling life could affect your relatives lifes. on: January 07, 2024, 08:06:19 AM
I have come across Local gamblers who are addicted to gambling and had ruined their selves by themselves til they ran bankrupt yet they borrows money to gamble at all means even While being indebted.
Theses sets of gamblers doesn't have remorse nor conscience about their gambling lifestyles instead their friends and relatives are the ones who bears the shameful consequences the addicted gambler brought to their circle of relationships.
At the virtue of getting the unbearable situations to an end, the relatives broadcasts the chronic addicted gambler at all costs of gambling boards never to give him privileges to gamble in any of the Gambling arenas anymore else they (the relatives) would sue the gambling boards owner.
This is just how recklessness could mess your life of you can't take control to gamble responsibly.
Take note and be aware that your way of gambling could affect your relationships and the circle of your relatives.
Unfortunately those category of gamblers are so addicted such that they think that borrowing money to gamble again would enable them to win big to cover their indebtedness unfortunately as they as they continue to chase losses they even lose more until they got bankrupted it's very hard to control these set of gamblers because their is a spirit of never say die in them which continue to propel and push them to continue with their act, sadly the consequences of their addiction to gambling had affected the well being of their families and relationship with other colleagues imagine if the person is the bread winner in the family.
237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 06, 2024, 05:51:00 PM
Since we are getting closer to the match between Barcelona and Napoli both teams are getting ready for this match especially Napoli is still trying to improve the team before they face Barcelona because they know this game is not going to be easy at all for them. That's why they decided to hire another player and improve their team.
Davinson Sánchez, the player of Galatasaray is linked to Napoli and they want to hire this Colombian, 27-year-old center-back player hoping to see him help them against Barcelona in the Champions League match.
If Napoli can seal the deal to bring Davinson Sánchez to the club that would be a good signing though this is subject to his eligibility to play for Napoli having been cup tied because he had already played for Galatasaray in UCL this season except if the rule has changed I doubt it, Davinson Sánchez had been very solid defensively for Tottenham thereafter moved to Galatasaray, He was in the squad of Tottenham Hotspur that lost 0-2 Liverpool in 2019 UCL final that mean his wealth of experience in UCL matches would help Napoli against Barcelona unfortunately if the deal is done he might not play in UCL matches except league matches
238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone here who retired with Gambling winnings ? on: January 06, 2024, 02:06:01 PM
Anyone here who retired with Gambling winnings ?  If not, how much you think is sufficient to retire as Gambling winning ?
There is nothing like retirement after winning gambling except if you are talking of winning a jackpot which is absolutely uncommon, gamblers who gamble responsibly do so for fun to earn an extra income thus wouldn't stake a huge amount of money to gamble in a bid to win a huge  amount of money knowing the risk involved which could lead to their bankruptcy  which is one of the consequences of doing such risky venture thus if you know anyone with a mindset of winning huge amount of money through gambling thereafter retire such a person is likened to chasing a shadow this is absolutely unachievable and unrealistic.
239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 06, 2024, 01:50:04 PM
Ten Hag had enough time and he has not being able to be productive with that time. Do you think he will be given more time that is beyond this season without replacing him? He is a great coach and that was why Manchester United brought him in as a manager. I don’t know his problem and why this inconsistency has been their for too long, I hope there’s a change soon because if there is no any, Manchester United will not finish the game in a good position with others. There is still room for improvement now that the second round of the season is just beginning.
When Erik Ten Hag was appointed, I know alot of Manchester United fans that were happy but now they frown their faces. At this point, I've no clue if Erik Ten Hag is the perfect coach that would strengthen the performance of the club or he's just one of these random coach that will struggle from the first day in office as appointed headcoach and struggle till he's fire by the team board members. Erik Ten Hag have been given enough time to fix the club but it seems he's effort is not counting, there are particles he will take to ensure he's on the winning track.
When he was appointed as Manchester united he did, his performance in the first season wasn't bad and last season he was able to coached the team to be in the first four position. For sure fans is not happy with Eric Ten Hag because the team is not performing well and you don't expect the club to still keep him when no positive result is coming from. I don't think if Ten Hag can be able to revive the team back, Manchester United have really been struggling since the beginning of the season,  the performance of Ten Hag right is not what the is expecting from him, he may likely lose his jobs if the team keeps on performing poor.
Man Utd don't just change or replace any underperforming manager like Chelsea, truly Erik ten Hag had a bad season so far in term of performance however injury to many key players of the team added to the woes of the team which I wouldn't blame Erik ten Hag for that situation, however I think the manager should be given another chance to manage the team till the end of the season thereafter if their is no any noticeable improvement then he should be sack, the January transfer window is now open I think the manager has the opportunity to sign few quality players to improve the team to compete for top 4 spot having fallout from the title race.
240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the high fee affecting the rate of adoption of Bitcoin? on: January 05, 2024, 03:02:57 PM
Since there are alternative I don't the high transaction fee of Bitcoin would have any significant impact on it adoption truly the network is highly congested due to massive transaction of ordinals of course new project developers would alternate to other fast and cheaper network with faster transaction likewise small investors, there are other alternative cheaper network and I believe the issue of Bitcoin network congestion would be addressed accordingly probably with improve lightning network that issue would solve the problem but for investors would have to continue transaction with high fee and wait a bit longer for their transactions to be  confirmed.
