2201  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: best sites that gives free bitcoin ? on: December 14, 2014, 11:10:43 AM
hello is there a sites that a give a good amount of bitcoins for free ?

If follow strictly your definition of *good amount*, I don't think there is any. You can try out faucets though but the payment amount is hardly worth your time. Just buy it or if you don't have the money, offer services to earn that money to buy your bitcoin. You might also notice there is a section here on this forum for "services" where you can participate in signature campaigns.
2202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On Bearwhales and Silk Roads: on: December 14, 2014, 10:59:23 AM
Don't know whether you agree with this but this scenario is caused mainly by people who bought bitcoins with the money that they don't actually own. That means they either borrowed money from banks or even gamble away the future fund they allocated for their kids' education and stuff like that. This mostly comes from hedging and leveraging their position. Therefore I'm not surprise, these are the first group of people who get targeted by these fudster.

Always, never put your money into something you can't afford to lose. There is no guarantee of 100% return of investment and people need to realize that.
2203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paper Wallet vs Hardware Wallet (USB) on: December 14, 2014, 10:50:35 AM
I'll definitely go for trezor since this will offer the best protection. I don't like the idea of using paper because if anything goes wrong like the paper getting wet or if the qr code ink blurred out, there is no way to recover it ever. Plus, if the private key qr code gets revealed, you can take a snapshot of it and that is all you need to access the fund.
2204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bither team collects compromised wallet on: December 14, 2014, 10:44:53 AM
Any reference to the English language article on what they are saying? Don't quite understand even after translation by google translate.
I'm more interested on how it happened and why only few wallets are compromised. Is this a lag of security on the user part or from the website itself.
2205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: December 14, 2014, 03:30:47 AM
I hope that I'm still alive when it reaches 10000 and I hope someday when I look back to this day when I made this post, I'll still be considered the band of early adopters. Anything is possible...
2206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microsoft surrendered to Bitcoin on: December 14, 2014, 03:25:44 AM
Surrender?Huh It's more like "testing the water" approach to them. It's the other way round. Don't forget they can decide to back out anytime if let's say they think that the integration part won't work out in their business paln or somehow they come to the conclusion that adoption to their system is not feasible. Fingers crossed that they won't come to that.
2207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Direct download for latest blockchain on: December 14, 2014, 03:17:27 AM
You can torrent it (or technically most of it).  Quite a few seeds so it has pretty good download speeds.

There are some direct download links but not sure how up to date they are:

Hey nice torrent link. It took me almost a week to get it done via the qt and if I had known about this earlier, it would have saved me a lot of time and effort. You can imagine my frustration having to go through all that initially.  Grin

Nowadays I keep a copy of the blockchain in my portable harddrive. Just about that day lent it to a friend of mine for him to setup the qt.
2208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrencies Still A "Weird Libertarian Thing" on: December 14, 2014, 03:11:41 AM
You can't blame them, most people don't understand the concept and the idea behind cryptocurrencies until we explain it to them. There are even weirder comments that I've heard so far, so I guess this one should be okay.  Grin
2209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Newest Bitcoin ATM placed in Warsaw, Poland at popular downtown restaurant on: December 13, 2014, 04:54:57 PM
It's exciting to see one. The idea of swiping your device and instantly get the bitcoin would be neat. Hope that someday where ever you go you can always the machine at every corner
2210  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-12-12] newegg.com: Bitcoin is Going Mainstream in 2015 on: December 13, 2014, 04:51:28 PM
Whoever starts off early will definitely have the advantage. I hope next will be google integrating this into their biggest profit generating business that is their adversing. It will be cool to be able to bid on keywords and get paid as well on btc for those into publisher program.
2211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The transaction fee is just ridiculous. on: December 13, 2014, 04:42:39 PM
Don't forget when all the 21 million coins have been mined we need to rely on the transaction fee to keep the network going. So don't be so stingy when it comes to paying fee. Just accept the reality. After all... Just few cents is considered small amount for a normal standard transaction taking place currently
2212  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: logical investments on: December 13, 2014, 04:34:00 PM
If talking about invest btc for btc return, i guess i don't know if there is any. But if i were you i would invest in something that would make my btc secure like the trezor hard wallet. Looks awfully tempting.
2213  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What it's HD wallet ... i can't control a single BTC adress now ! on: December 13, 2014, 10:46:18 AM
You guys should also test out electrum for android version. The installation process is rather lengthy though but the effort spent is well worth it. Currently using electrum and mycelium and both wallets have the same function which you can restore it any time using the seed.
2214  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Risk Management: Where are you saving your Bitcoins? on: December 13, 2014, 10:36:50 AM
This is how I distribute my holdings.
75% armory - it is arguably the safest. No doubt about that
5% electrum - the seed function is really cool and i can access my bitcoin anywhere but not security in mind
2% mycelium on my android - use it for tipping
18% bittrex - for trading purpose
2215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could this is how Satoshi disappeared? on: December 13, 2014, 10:24:57 AM
He could probably be hiding. As what some others put it he maybe waiting for the right time to reveal himself. Nobody knows the main reason but probably waiting for bitcoin to be accepted, legalized, goes into mainstream adoption or maybe for his own security reason.
2216  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: December 13, 2014, 09:56:18 AM
No they are don't. In fact have never come across one before who is actually interested in bitcoin or ever talk about bitcoin. Maybe their views and interests are totally different compared to men.
2217  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin value and the economy on: December 13, 2014, 08:35:48 AM
Currently adoption rate is too low to make an assumption or correlation. For example gold and usd price move inversely. I expect btc to follow the same like gold against usd trend. If people feel insecure about dollar they will hedge their position in bitcoin. However we haven't that stage of adoption just yet to tell the trending.
2218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Statistics collected on number of bitcoin users on: December 13, 2014, 07:58:59 AM
As what the title says let me give you an example of what i mean. I'll just take the pool of friends and family members including colleagues and acquaintances that i know. Out of a pool of 50 people there are only 3 persons who are into bitcoin and another into dogecoin. In other words that means (just) among those that i know it is something like 6% adoption rate while 8% overall for crypto.

My question is... is there any real statistic that tells you roughly how many people according to geographical location that shows the adoption rate. Like for country to country. Any data collected thus far. Or any work done by the foundation to measure the progress on adoption rate. Any estimate?
2219  Economy / Economics / Re: BitCoin vs Visa as an investment on: December 13, 2014, 07:48:53 AM
It has to be bitcoin. Don't forget we are still at the early stage of development and there are so many more things that we haven't done that could potentially bring bitcoin adoption to the next level. One thing to take note is that we have to aim long term and that means keep on holding to it regardless of price movement.
2220  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I got some free btc online, but the microwallet still no pay for me! on: December 13, 2014, 05:34:37 AM
My advice is rather than spending your time looking for clues and trying to reach customer support, just forget it. A lot of faucet sites come and go and it's just part and parcel of the game. If you are into bitcoin, best way is to earn money doing other things then use it to buy bitcoin.
