2201  Other / Off-topic / Re: where can I get a cheap hosting plan with free domain name to build bit site on: July 11, 2016, 05:03:50 AM
Best to stay away from namecheap but orangewebsite is good for privacy.

Coindesk uses Disqus for comments and like most news magazines holds all new comments for approval by a staff member. If all comments were posted immediately they would wind up with spam posts filled with affiliate links. I am sure they appreciate thoughtful comments, waiting a day or so is the norm now.
2203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to Invest in? on: July 08, 2016, 03:34:35 AM
Hi All,

I'm looking for some community input on the best altcoin to invest in. Already have some money in bitcoin. Don't feel like reading through thousands of pages here.

-Looking for something with lower volatility
-Looking for something that may be worthwhile to mine (with an S7 or some GPUs)

Thanks!

Well, you are not going to get reliable analysis and solid no shill tips for free. I have good results using klee's service https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1064374.0 all you need to do is follow the team on Slack, forget about wading through bitcointalk.
2204  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: multisig cold wallet laptop, cold wallet android + watching wallet on: July 08, 2016, 03:17:30 AM
Why complicate your life? Just use a Ledger or Trezor hardware wallet with Mycelium on your Android phone.
2205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese Miners Revolt, Announces Plan to Hard Fork to Classic on: July 05, 2016, 10:54:28 PM
Anyone can visit Coin.Dance and see Classic is holding steady at about 11% of total nodes. No worries unless that number starts to increase (by a lot.)
2206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Ethereum ? on: July 05, 2016, 07:34:25 PM
Anyone who ignores second largest market cap coin due to love affair with bitcoin is missing out on money making opportunity. Right now Ether is inversely correlated to Bitcoin so it is useful as a hedge. Could be large sell off next weekend when hard fork happens so may be time to buy cheap Ether.
2207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why Etherium price is decreasing day by day ? on: July 05, 2016, 07:25:16 PM
Hard fork for Ethereum is probable, and most likely will happen by next weekend. A lot of Ether will be released back to owners. What do you think they will do with it? Sizeable number will use to buy bitcoin, so look for a bitcoin price increase along with Ether sell off. When you see a sell off in Ether with heavy volume time to buy cheap Ether. Ether price could get as low as $5 with heavy selling. There is resistance at $7 so you should consider buying to hold long term starting at $7 and buying more on way down. Or you could just wait until the charts show a bottom is in place before buying. Any way looks like good chance for Ether fire sale next weekend. Right now Ether and Bitcoin are inversely correlated.

2209  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: HELP with electrum ! Do you have the solution?? EARN $50 dollars bitcoins on: July 03, 2016, 07:51:45 PM
Current Electrum wallets use a thirteen word seed while your old 1.8 used twelve words and also signed transactions High S. I would try to connect to an Electrum server still running Bitcoin Core 11.0 if you can find one possibly electrum.no-ip.org then send to your new wallet.

That being said I restored a 1.9.8 wallet to 2.5.1 from seed and it did take the twelve word seed OK. Maybe try 2.5.1 instead of 2.6.4? If those options do not do it for you you are going to have to export and import private keys.
2210  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: HELP!! with electrum on: July 03, 2016, 07:36:45 PM
With your old 1.8 client try using electrum.no-ip.org as a server it may still accept your High S transaction and you can send to your 2.5.1 wallet. Since Electrum changed from 12 to 13 word seeds you are going to have to export and import your private keys otherwise.
2211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Carry empty paper bitcoin wallets with you on: July 03, 2016, 06:50:54 PM
Better to help a new user download Mycelium to Android or Breadwallet to iPhone and send them a small sum of bitcoin to get them excited. Teach them how to buy more.
2212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: WTF IS THIS. on: July 03, 2016, 04:27:13 PM
Based on size of your transaction you should have used a fee of 0.0003 not .0001. See https://bitcoinfees.21.co/ BW just had a run of luck it happens. It is never a good idea to use .0001 anymore, are you using a wallet that defaults to .0001? You really need to increase the miner fee when you send.
2213  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info Questions from a noob - Help! on: July 03, 2016, 05:36:32 AM
About Tor:
blockchain.info does not only allow tor, it fully supports it:
https://blockchain.info/wallet/anonymity

The link on this page: https://blockchainbdgpzk.onion/

You do have to enable javascript to use blockchain.info on Tor at blockchainbdgpzk.onion. Even then access is off/on not really reliable.
2214  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase Put my Bank Account Under Review on: July 03, 2016, 05:00:22 AM
Sorry to hear that Coinbase seems to be experiencing customer complaints lately. Seems like they may not have sufficient customer service staff. Have you considered using Circle instead?

Yea I do use them, but weekly is capped at 3k which isn't enough unfortunately since they have been nothing but great to work with.

Have you considered Gemini? Daily ACH withdrawal limit is $10K with a monthly limit of $100K. Monthly ACH deposit limit is $10K with no limits at all on wire transfers.

2216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best long term cold storage? on: July 02, 2016, 06:14:18 PM
You could buy a Trezor and take control of your private keys. Trezor has the ability to encrypt your 24 word seed with a passphrase, so the seed is useless to a thief without the passphrase. Store the 24 word seed in several places and keep the passphrase in your head. If your memory is not that great this would not be a good solution for you though.
2217  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 02, 2016, 05:14:26 PM

That is what is called fluff, or a filler article that really does not say anything, just to publish on a slow news weekend.
2218  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum 2.6.4 on Windows not working with Trezor new 1.3.6 firmware on: July 02, 2016, 03:05:59 PM
After Trezor released 1.3.6 firmware Electrum 2.6.4 no longer worked with Trezor on Windows. The issue is discussed at https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/issues/1846 and there are now new 2.6.4 testing releases you can download at http://download.electrum.org/test/ which work with Windows at least for my 1.3.6 Trezor.
2219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ToominCoin aka "Bitcoin_Classic" #R3KT on: July 01, 2016, 04:00:52 PM
If Chinese miners are really out of patience with Core delays the only way you will see it is a drastic increase in Classic nodes in July after the halving. Then Core either forks or the miners will do it for them with Classic. If this is a game of chicken I bet the core devs blink first and decide to hard fork to 2 MB. No one likes to have power taken away from them.

Antpool has never engaged with the guy behind that 8btc OP privately, or reached any agreement with that guy. I am also unaware of any other pools are working with that guy. China 8btc forum is running without censorship when people wants to discuss different scaling plans.

However, we cannot call it a hoax to which the responding showed 90% of no objection, and written in a very formal Chinese. This "Terminator" plan somehow got attention for its wisdom to unify the difference between 75% and 90% number. We also should not call out "hoax" to any proposals we don't agree with or just did not know/agree with it in advance.
