You now chinas military size is over 4,500,000

PLA Ground Force - 1,700,000 (+ 800,000 reserves)

People's Liberation Army Navy - 290,000

People's Liberation Army Air Force - 330,000

The numbers are there for sure. But the vast majority of the PLA soldiers are very poorly trained as well as inadequately equipped with modern weapons. And the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force is far better in quality when compared to the People's Liberation Army Navy.
22142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK phase out paper money for polymers . Crypto makes this temporary on: December 19, 2013, 07:48:44 AM
Paper money to polymer money, and then to Bitcoin money.

Anyone remember about the Bitcoin banknotes?

22143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Baby you're a rich man too on: December 19, 2013, 07:47:04 AM
We just need to start spending our coins so that merchants see a value. Spreading the coins will stabilize the value or at least make it gain value in a healthier way.

Hording the coins with dreams that tomorrow it will reach $40k does not help.

I want to be able to buy express, vs, Macys, etc. But they wont take it seriously until we start acting more mature about this.

How many rich btc people do we have in this forum?

A lot of people are spending their coins. If you look at the daily transaction volumes, the ratio is much higher than the same for fiat.

The actual problem is that the number of merchants accepting Bitcoin payments are really low.
22144  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-17-12 Forbes - Bitcoin Is Not Anonymous And Is Always Taxable on: December 19, 2013, 07:44:22 AM
Here's my government-required registered wallet balance: 0.00000001

What's the tax on less than a penny? Oh, no problem Mr. Tax Guy, keep the change!

Ridiculous, they have zero clue how easily this is circumvented.

As long as you don't convert your Bitcoins to cash, they won't be able to catch you. But right now, there are not many options to barter it for cash without getting unwanted attention from the tax authority.
22145  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-12-16] bittiraha.fi - Europe's First Bitcoin ATM is here! on: December 19, 2013, 07:41:22 AM
I am waiting for the first Bitcoin ATM robbery.  I would guess they don't keep the private keys for the bitcoins on the ATMs themselves.  Just cash.

The Helsinki Bitcoin ATM is located at one of the busiest parts of the city. While theoretically it is not impossible to rob it, the chances of such an incident actually occurring is very very scarce.
22146  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-12-17] Forbes - Bitcoin Crashes On Report That China's Cracking Down Furt on: December 19, 2013, 07:38:54 AM
Heheh perhaps try DOGE instead? list of exchanges http://doges.org/index.php?board=22.0

The altcoins had their 2 weeks of fame. As the demand from China dips, it will affect altcoins like Litecoin and Namecoin more than the Bitcoin itself. Soon Litecoin will go down under 0.01 and other altcoins will follow.
22147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should I use Bitcoin instead of Paypal? on: December 18, 2013, 04:59:23 PM
Avoid tax

There are a lot of limitations as far as this aspect is considered. If it is a small number of coins, then it is fine. But how can you cash out hundreds of coins without alerting the tax authority? I have no idea.
22148  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-12-16 VanCourier - Bitcoin Gains Currency in Vancouver on: December 18, 2013, 04:57:11 PM
Vancouver is the most tech-savvy place in all of Canada. What we need to do is to spread the popularity of Bitcoin to the largest cities, such as Toronto and Montreal. Need more ATMs in these cities as well.  Wink
22149  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-18-12] Dabur scion bites into Bitcoins on: December 18, 2013, 04:55:26 PM
Nice to see the new adoptions. But this extreme volatility is making me nervous. In the past few days, Bitcoin has come down from $1,200 to $450. No merchant in their right mind will be happy with this.
22150  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-17-12 Forbes - Bitcoin Is Not Anonymous And Is Always Taxable on: December 18, 2013, 04:54:15 PM
At least now the government agencies should shed their hatred towards Bitcoins. If the transactions are not anonymous, and tax evasion using them is not possible, then why the agencies should worry about it?  Huh
22151  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-12-11] CNN: Can Bitcoin replace PayPal? on: December 18, 2013, 04:52:17 PM
Precious metals were valuable because they are pretty and easy to form. Now they are valuable because we all think they are. The same could be true of anything else that can't be produced by just anyone.

Precious metals are valuable because their supply is limited, just like the case of Bitcoin. We just have to improve the security issue. Once we do that, we can take Bitcoin beyond gold.  Grin
22152  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-12-16] bittiraha.fi - Europe's First Bitcoin ATM is here! on: December 18, 2013, 04:45:46 PM
So, does this stand for the #2 rank Bitcoin ATM in the world ?  Roll Eyes

We want one in India TOO !!  Sad

I don't think that a BTC ATM will come to India any time soon. The RBI has warned people against using the coin and the government machinery is all set to impose tough regulations on Bitcoin transactions.

Back to the topic, Finland is the ideal place in Europe to have a BTC ATM. It is a link connecting Western Europe to the East.
22153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2013-12-18] QuarkCoin: Noble Intentions, Wrong Approach on: December 18, 2013, 04:43:33 PM
I bought a few hundred Quark coins a few hours ago. Got them pretty cheap. Who knows? May be Quark will become the next Litecoin.

I had bought a few hundred Litecoins many months ago, at the rate of 0.0025 BTC. Now they are worth 12 times as much.
22154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: (Group-Buy) Small Country in Europe or sealand on: December 18, 2013, 04:42:02 PM
I have a better suggestion. Let's bribe some warlord in Somaliland or Puntland or some other Somali breakaway region and offer him a few tens of thousands of Bitcoins. All we need is a few thousand square kilometers of sovereign territory with sea coast. And Somali land is cheap, as most of it is desert or semi-desert.
22155  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTC-E now having largest daily trading volume on: December 18, 2013, 04:39:24 PM
u saying the owner of sheep marketplace (now defunct) is connected with btc-e - tell me more Smiley

The owner of Sheep was from the Czech Republic. All of the BTC-E owners are from Russia and Ukraine. There is hardly any chance of connections between them. It is not impossible though, as Czechoslovakia was a former member of the Warsaw pact. More than half of all the Czechs know Russian language as well.  Grin
22156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: my wallets were stolen just now, can any one help me? on: December 18, 2013, 04:37:16 PM
If you have the wallet backup all you need to do is decrypt it.  That means guessing the password.  The 2FA does not matter anymore.  There is nothing to slow you down, you can make as many attempts per second as your hardware allows.  Also the password guessing can be done in parallel on multiple machines.

Given a weak password it will crack.

Well... guessing both the passwords (1st password and 2nd password) will take a hell lot of effort. But if there is a keylogger in the system stealing the passwords, then it is quite easy.
22157  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you get naked for bitcoins? on: December 18, 2013, 03:28:26 PM
Definitely not. Even if Satoshi offers me 1 million Bitcoins, I will never agree to pose naked.  Grin

And no. I will never pay Bitcoin to anyone to watch them naked. There are a lot of free options for that.  Smiley
22158  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Your view on shale gas exploration ? on: December 18, 2013, 03:26:10 PM
The UK government wont even release the official government figures for nuclear subsidies due to the fear of a public backlash. To clean up Sellafield, just one toxic waste dump, will cost the taxpayer over £60 billion. Corporate socialism at its finest.

Technology has advanced so much that the nuclear waste disposal is not much of a concern as it was earlier. And considering the  massive environmental damage caused by the thermal power plants, I have no plans to withdraw my support for nuclear energy.
22159  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will China go to war with Japan? on: December 18, 2013, 03:23:47 PM
That's exactly why Germany started the WWII. They had got too much shit to worry about at home, and the blitzkrieg war was probably the only path for the power clique (at least they thought so) to slip out from the inevitable bankruptcy of the state and its socialistic policy...

Just a few days ago two dozen or so died in ethnic clashes inside China (Xinjiang province). Tibetans are protesting against the regime for many months now. The ethnic Chinese themselves are protesting against the corruption committed by the top officials. The conditions are now ripe.
22160  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will China go to war with Japan? on: December 18, 2013, 11:43:43 AM
They have robot armies in it. UAV are todays pilot test of what is to come. With robots who needs a lot of people?

Right now robots are not capable of doing all the maneuvers which the humans are capable of. They can only play a supporting role in the war zone. May be in 10-15 years it will be possible to replace regular armies with robots.
