Senate Banking Committee to Hold Hearing on Crypto Regulation

Quote
The committee said in a press release that it would hold an open session titled “Examining Regulatory Frameworks for Digital Currencies and Blockchain” on July 30, though it is unclear if this would be a fact-finding mission or if any specific pieces of legislation would be discussed.

The hearing will be livestreamed.

See? I did spare you all the annoying lessons about Segwit, the respect for a scarce resource (Space in block) leading to technical development instad of relaxed and lazy (ab)use of abundant resoures, the necessity to scale on the second layer instead of scalin on-chain, the possibility for the average Joe to synchronise a node etc, etc...

If this is the block increase I'm interested.

The World is Waking Up to Bitcoin

Quote
Not too long ago, Bitcoin was a niche interest. Cryptographers, cypherpunks, and some libertarian-minded folks were the only ones interested in the idea of magic internet money.

Nice article.

( The article begins with the mention of the Cypherpunks, a few days ago I published a thread about the Cypherpunks, I put the link in WO, I remind you that there is a lot of material to read.

Algorithm
We call our algorithm Peoplerank. It works similar to the original Pagerank.

Instead of ranking websites -- it ranks identities. Instead of tracking links -- it tracks attention.

It’s also a 2nd order metric. This means that it matters not only who pays attention to you, but also who pays attention to the people who pay attention to you. And so on.

The Amount of Bitcoin Untouched for At Least 5 Years is at an All-Time High

The amount of Bitcoin (BTC) supply that has been untouched (i.e. not transferred) for at least five years recently reached an all-time high. This potentially signals that BTC is increasingly becoming a store of value, as opposed to a medium of exchange. On July 19th, there were 3,847,859 BTC that had not moved since at least five years prior:

Quote
Untouched supply tends to mirror price movements. The below chart shows supply that has been untouched for at least 180 days, 1 year, and 2 years, relative to BTC price USD (shown on a log scale). The untouched supply tends to peak towards the bottom of a price trough, and vice versa:

https://criptotendencia.com/2019/07/22/las-crypto-whales-y-su-influencia-en-el-mercado/

Using the Awesome Oscillator to Find Bitcoin Buy and Sell Signals

Quote
Few trading tools are as simple and as elegant as the “Awesome Oscillator.”

First developed by American trader Bill Williams, the aptly named Awesome Oscillator (AO) is a momentum indicator that takes advantage of an immediate trend. The AO plots its data using a histogram, similar to how the MACD histogram functions, in that it delivers a buy and sell signal when the bars pass above or below the neutral 0 line.
