2221  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 23, 2014, 12:52:34 PM
just makes more coins go from unbelievers to believers

The cultists are finally coming out of the closet and openly admitting the cultist nature of bitcoin. That's not good marketing. I wonder, how long will it take until your manor will be called the temple.. Undecided
In the end, all of the bitcoins will be held by The True Believers. No question about that. It's questionable though, if those final True Believers are able to add much value to bitcoin. But who knows, even Scientology has amassed a large amount of wealth, and their ideology is even more ridiculous. But that's mainly because of clever marketing, and till now, the marketing for bitcoin hasn't been very clever.

Rpietila, hire me as an outside consultant, who is not an True Believer, but who knows exactly how the Unbelievers think. Let's make this cult big and powerful, and let me help you to be the beacon of light and the bringer of truth! Stop scrabbling for the mortgages and college funds of the regular folks, and let's switch to more potential targets, like the inexperienced youth who have inherited a large amount of wealth. Let's stop this meaningless fighting between us and let's join forces, so I can help you have eight late-teen wives and present yourself as an demigod!

Join me and we can rule the galaxy as father and son...

2223  Economy / Speculation / Re: RE : Wall Observer on: April 23, 2014, 10:22:15 AM

Is there any evidence to the belief that expansions in the bitcoin ecosystem, services & economy actually increase the price..??
...
So why in the WORLD is there this MYTH continuing about merchant adoption, growing ecosystem = higher price? Wtf? What am I missing..?

Welcome to the forum! Hope you've had the good first 6 days. Btw. the question is off-topic for this thread but let's not be picky.

Your question is discussed for example here.

Ok, though it's worth noting that a 'transaction' for bitcoin generally means something different than for PayPal/Mastercard etc - especially at this point.
For current figures, most bitcoin transactions aren't purchases, they're people moving coins to and from exchanges, between their own addresses, etc. Whereas I imagine almost every PayPal transaction is someone buying a Thing of some sort.
No doubt that will change, but the current figures aren't representative of use or adoption.

2225  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 23, 2014, 09:15:24 AM
I was just hoping you could offer more comprehensive analysis. I won't ask again.

The whole story is right here.

Can you explain your thinking?
I think you can read the number of addresses on the blockchain different ways, but I'd like to know I understand what you mean before I question it!
2226  Economy / Speculation / Re: Logarithmic Chart of USD/BTC from 8/2010 to 4/2014 on: April 21, 2014, 03:50:18 PM
Adoption means coins being sold in large numbers as well as bought and hoarded. Velocity will play a critical role. It's also unclear what adoption truly entails. Bitcoin as payment or transmission mechanism? How it pans out will have huge implications.
2227  Economy / Speculation / Re: Logarithmic Chart of USD/BTC from 8/2010 to 4/2014 on: April 21, 2014, 01:34:32 PM
I'm hopeful about bitcoin, but this trendline has to end sometime. The only question is when.

We have a few interesting moments comming

1. Halving of block reward.
2. End of mining (or atleast viable mining)
3. Mass adoption of bitcoin

All these moments could push bitcoin to new heights and change the trendline.
I think from a trader's perspective, when you get to the point where you have to speculate about something gaining mass adoption and reaching its final form, then it's time to find something else to speculate on which is at an earlier stage and will have an easier time increasing.

I would still think we had a looong way to go before that point. Currently 1-2 million people own bitcoins and merchants are just starting to adopt in meaningful numbers.
The halving of the block reward in 2017 (3 years away!) will decrease supply, but who knows what will happen before then.
Mining is self-regulating, so I'm not sure how this will affect prices. The same number of bitcoins will be mined regardless.
Mass adoption, whatever that means, may also have unpredictable effects. Ultimately, if there is equilibrium/stability of price then there's less reason to hoard. I imagine the greater the adoption the shallower the price curve.
All in all, there are far too many variables to make a decent guess about where a stable price range lies. But that's what makes it so interesting...
2228  Economy / Services / Professional copywriter for hire on: April 21, 2014, 11:37:58 AM
I've worked as a copywriter for over 10 years on a huge range of different projects, from books and white papers to film scripts, blog posts and web articles. Since learning about Bitcoin I've written literally tens of thousands of words on various aspects of the ecosystem: exchanges and trading, mining, economics, reviews of services, wallets and storage, and much more.

I've recently become involved with BTCD and the SuperNET project, writing white papers, ICO docs and articles. I write regularly for a number of different websites.

You can see further examples of my work here:
http://bitscan.com/articles/the-curious-picture-of-bitcoin-in-the-uk
http://bitscan.com/articles/amazon-was-a-bubble-too
For something a bit different, http://bitscan.com/articles/mystery-bitcoin-game-the-hidden-keys
For scriptwriting, take a look at these short films for NXT.
I can point you to plenty more samples, should you need them.

I live in the UK and much of my work is based here, but Bitcoin has no respect for borders and I've found it an excellent way to tap into different markets around the world. If you'd like to discuss a project, please PM me.

Ethos
One-off projects are fine, but longer-term working relationships benefit both parties.
There are plenty of writers offering cheap articles, both on these boards and around the web. If your decision is based on cost alone and you don't care about quality, originality, accuracy or punctuality, one of these will be able to serve your needs far better than me.
I aim to produce the content you need first time. Within reason, though, I'll rewrite if it's not what you expected - that's just part of a good working relationship. I'm happy working independently and coming up with ideas, but if you've got something specific in mind then the more information you can give me the better.

Rates
I'd typically charge £25/$40 per hour, BTC equivalent, or per standard article (500-600 words). Lower rates can be negotiated, but that usually reflects a long-term collaboration, familiarity with the subject matter, fast payment, and a high level of trust.
For projects that require extensive research or have a particularly demanding spec or style, I charge significantly more.
For large projects I prefer piecemeal payment.

Topics
I'll write on most subjects, but for various reasons I can't/won't write about the following: adult, gambling, payday loans, online pharmacies or those miracle drugs...

Best luck to you, too.

I find this kind of constructive discussion and amicable resolution utterly unacceptable. By rights this should have descended into vitriolic trolling by now. Shame on you both.

Think for your selfs why whould a trading site sell all of its bitcoins onn a other trading site....

I think you might have missed the point here.
2232  Economy / Speculation / Re: Up from here or more FUD? on: April 20, 2014, 03:02:46 PM
You're right that the coins could have been stolen and cashed out at any time, or most likely slowly over time, putting long-term downward pressure on the market.
2233  Economy / Speculation / Re: Up from here or more FUD? on: April 20, 2014, 11:45:42 AM
I think 400 is more likely, I fear the mtgox coins will be sold.

But as some say, when is hype, sell, and when fear, buy.

Gox coins won't be sold for a while so I wouldn't factor that into your short term predictions.

To OP who knows all it takes is another China FUD bomb and the sheep will panic. The charts and sentiment are both becoming more bullish by the day though.

This sounds about right. Remember, though, that there are two large stashes of Gox coins: the 200,000 that were "found" and the 650,000 that were stolen. Who knows what the plan is for the latter.
2234  Economy / Speculation / Re: You Wanted Rock Bottom, You Got It. April Speculation. | WSC Team on: April 19, 2014, 06:48:15 PM
Think I've understood this and generally agree with it, but some clarification would be good as I think a couple of points were a bit confused.
We've already hit $420, which is the support you say was established a few months back. However you seem to be anticipating a further retracement to this level (and below), since this is your target buy price.
What does it mean that the $420 mark was so significantly breached, albeit for a short time? And the fact that your buy target is some way beneath it?
Just seems like there's some loose ends to tie up there.
2235  Economy / Services / Re: [WTB] Bitcoin articles and tutorials on: April 19, 2014, 05:11:00 PM
Interested in theory, but your rates are waaaay too low for any decent, self-respecting copywriter. ~$7 per 1000 words?!

99.99997% of the people that are going to apply are going to be horrible writers regardless. When the main news site (CoinDesk) even has poor quality control, you know there's a problem.

<Shrug> You get what you pay for.

My big goals are to fund a mission trip I am taking to India in the fall and pay for some humanitarian type things while I am there (water wells, medical camps, Aids outreach, funds for an orphanage).  If the price spikes this Summer I should be a in a great position to do so much more.

Plus, when I was younger, I was joking that my "dream job" someday would be to become a philanthropist!  Maybe this will be a way to fulfill that dream!   Grin  (I also said that the only way I would ever get a doctorate degree is if I could get an "honorary" one.  Perhaps it goes along with philanthropy? LOL  We will see. . . )

Nice Smiley
I work for a Christian charity. Tried to bring up bitcoin with my boss a couple of times as something that is going to be a really big deal and we need to engage with. He wasn't interested, just didn't seem to get it. So I put one aside and in a year or two years I'll donate it to the charity with a big "I told you so."
It's kind of passive aggressive, but what's he going to do...? Cheesy

I am sure he won't complain if you say "I told you so" with a nice donation. Wink  It is really difficult getting non-profits on board, surprisingly!  I am going to India with a group of women and we are using a non-profit organization called Hill of Hope that will be serving as the site where all of the funds are collected before we then go to work with the group Harvest India.  I contacted Hill of Hope about taking Bitcoin directly and they did not seem interested.  I guess I can always just cash out coins myself and pay them directly but it would have been great to get them involved, not just for this one trip but for some of the other great charitable works they are helping finance.

Give it a couple of years.
This is getting a little off topic, but there is some great work going on with microfinance charities and bitcoin because it's the only way people can donate small sums directly without bank fees killing them.

Hi,
this sounds interesting, but waht kind of rebus is that Smiley

That's kind of the point - you need to figure it out. The clues have different principles behind them. If you look back at the last one and some of the answers in this thread, you'll get the overall idea.

Also cannot access you on the direct chat Smiley

Not sure I know what you mean by direct chat. You can PM me or leave a message here (though since it's Easter weekend I won't be able to get back to you straight away).

Realistically, I expect that people will guess most of the clues and then run a brute force cracker for the last few characters - though since every character represents a 32x increase in the time it takes, the more you can get the better.
