Been reading a bit about what TOR is going through regarding attacks and site seizures by the EU and US Feds. One comment on the thread states a possible vulnerability to BTCD and superNet IMO: "My speculation about what happened follows. The attacker floods a particular hidden service with random/innocent GET requests at a chosen time. The network links are monitored for that flood pattern. Then the suspected servers are unplugged briefly, and the attacker checks which HS goes down at the exact same time. Now the search for evidence actual begins. It is a very simple and effective attack, particularly against low-traffic servers." TOR discusses some points of attack in the following thread. Worth a read for thinking about if any of the proposed issues may affect the BTCD network: https://blog.torproject.org/blog/thoughts-and-concerns-about-operation-onymous/Would be interested to hear more about this. However, the simplest explanation is often the best. It looks like some of the guys who got busted weren't exactly careful (email address hidden in site code, for example). Following the bitcoin paper trail probably got plenty of info too. Then the cops over-stated their success and the media picked it up... I suspect there's nothing too profound going on here.

Mine are at OVH. Seems to be the best bang for the buck and best DDoS protected network going.
You're on the $6.99 option? That looks like pretty good value.

Alright, thanks for the suggestions! Will hopefully get set up over the next couple of days.

I'm looking to set up a VPS for the SuperNET/BTCD network. Does anyone have a good recommendation for which company to go for? Perhaps paying with BTC, though not essential. Otherwise Ubuntu, 2Gb RAM are the only requirements. There are a lot of options out there but I think a few shady companies too so if anyone has had a good experience with one (particularly for this) let me know.
Check bitvps. Haven't heard anything bad about those guys. Not the cheapest tho. Thanks, will take a look.

Great! Thanks for the info . Can someone help clear up some confusion for me? For example, in the Newsletter, it sounded like holders of UNITY will receive NeoDice dividends without necessarily having to hold NeoDice assets. Is this the case, or do you have to hold both? Thanks... UNITY holders got a Neodice dividend already. they only had to hold Unity, not neodice I think he's asking if SuperNET asset holders can get dividends from the revenue that NeoDICE will make without having to simultaneously hold the NeoDICE asset. From what I can interpret, you don't have to hold the NeoDICE asset to get the dividends since SuperNET owns a big portion of NeoDICE and the revenue will flow through SuperNET. That's right.

Does this mean I need to reinstall linux, 64-bit?
if you installed 32 bit (didnt even know that was possible!), then yes It is remarkable what you can do if you don't know what is not possible. This goes for mundane things like installing 32-bit linux as well as coding SuperNETs.

Thanks. I think I'm almost there now. I can't make SuperNET, but I think that's because clang has crashed so will restart and try again. I'm pretty sure that I'll figure this all out just as the Windows wallet is released. Edit: no, I still get this, even after running those instructions you suggested. clang: error: unable to execute command: Segmentation fault (core dumped) clang: error: clang frontend command failed due to signal (use -v to see invocation) Ubuntu clang version 3.4-1ubuntu3 (tags/RELEASE_34/final) (based on LLVM 3.4) Target: i386-pc-linux-gnu Thread model: posix clang: note: diagnostic msg: PLEASE submit a bug report to http://bugs.debian.org/ and include the crash backtrace, preprocessed source, and associated run script. clang: note: diagnostic msg: ********************

Any bright ideas? Target: i386-pc-linux-gnu it seems you are building for 32 bit, for linux I am assuming 64 bits Does this mean I need to reinstall linux, 64-bit?

I am experiencing similar problems when compiling using the instructions from james: By the way, anybody that has an Ubuntu and goes: git clone https://github.com/jl777/btcd# Then you need to put your addresses in the demo SuperNET.conf and copy it to the libjl777 directory cd btcd/libjl777 make onetime ./m_unix will be able to get a SuperNET running. Once they are running and you have the various accounts funded: On computer A: ./BitcoinDarkd SuperNET '{"requestType":"addcontact","handle":"computerB","acct":"<account for computerB>"}' On computer B: ./BitcoinDarkd SuperNET '{"requestType":"addcontact","handle":"computerA","acct":"<account for computerA>"}' ./BitcoinDarkd SuperNET '{"requestType":"maketelepods","coin":"BTCD","amount":".0001"}' ./BitcoinDarkd SuperNET '{"requestType":"teleport","coin":"BTCD","amount":".0001","contact":"computerA"}' Of course, this is still command line and it isnt using the best practices as the maketelepods creates traceable telepods, but it is quite a lot of what needs to be working that is already working James when doing I get the following: /home/user/btcd/libjl777/libuv/missing: line 81: aclocal-1.13: command not found WARNING: 'aclocal-1.13' is missing on your system. You should only need it if you modified 'acinclude.m4' or 'configure.ac' or m4 files included by 'configure.ac'. The 'aclocal' program is part of the GNU Automake package: <http://www.gnu.org/software/automake> It also requires GNU Autoconf, GNU m4 and Perl in order to run: <http://www.gnu.org/software/autoconf> <http://www.gnu.org/software/m4/> <http://www.perl.org/> make[1]: *** [aclocal.m4] Error 127 Im a real linux noob, but I did manage to get a dedicated machine for btcd with an ubuntu install. Anyoe experiencing the same problems or know what is missing here? I think these instructions presuppose you have a working BitcoinDark installation first (I'm also a linux n00b). I'm making some progress with the Google doc, which I think fills in the first steps, but it's not something you can type verbatim and get it working.

Hi, I want to participate the BTCD community as a tester. What and how can I do so? Thanks
Excellent, welcome! Ask Azeh for an invite to the Slack channels (or wait for him to see this) - you'll find all you need there.

BTC withdrawal from Bittrex has not gone through after about an hour of being "confirmed" on Bittrex.
BTC withdrawal from BTER went through after about 2 minutes.
I'm probably going to start trading on BTER more now.
good idea. It took about 2 days to get my btcd's from cryptsy. Just playing with Trex now - Wally got my 0.005 order filled for me. Hopefully he'll buy it back at 0.006. I've given up on Cryptsy, too risky. I'd far rather use BTER but didn't think the liquidity was that great.

If james dies, then supernet would be dead (right now. lets hope he finds people that can take over the project in the future) I secured assurances from James that he would not contemplate doing any dying before he was finished coding. We should finance a personal guard and a defibrillator to make sure. He says he does not go out much so is safe from most accidents or attack. However, he also talks about drinking Starbucks lattes a lot. This leads me to conclude that he probably lives in a Starbucks somewhere. Convenient for the free wifi, I guess.

Is anyone else playing Where's Wally? I'm waiting for a 0.005 order to get filled on Bittrex. It was partially filled last night, but now the order book has been flooded with small orders, only 1-10 BTCD each.
Walley turned into Willy it is playing the bid side and has pushed the bids up 10% I think it is pushing things into its asks, when they fill it will probably change direction probably the thing to do is not feed the bot and put orders that it fills on either side eventually it will lose enough money and go to greener pastures Based on the fluctuation in the last few days I also put in a sell order at 0.065 but that might have been skewed by you provoking him

Not too worried about out-trading him - I'm a hodler by nature. But no one likes being outsmarted, especially by a bot.

BTCD well on it's way down to the 0.004 range, if/when it crashes through the mini-wall at 0.00400001 I suspect we will be seeing the mid to low 0.002 range again shortly thereafter. Think I'll be holding my satoshi's and placing a buy order much lower a bit later on assuming everything still seems to be progressing. Whomever this bot belongs too it's one big ole pain in the tookis.
You know what they say in Texas: "Oil-well"
I've placed some order at 0.0045 on bittrex and cryptsy for around 6 btc. I've made couple btc's last week while buying in the 0.0045-0.005 range and selling higher. I would not expect that the price is going below 0.004. Our wally bot seems to want to set the price at .005 it pushes the price down to .005 and then it starts doing the same on the buy side this bot has a lot of capital, probably funded by the massive gains it has made over the months just look at the side of the orderbook that is changing all the time to see which way the bot is pushing so it is playing a game of attrition. insisting the price is .005, until everybody just accepts it. then when enough people sell to it at that price, it will flip directions. anyway, i dont have time to figure out how best to beat the bot. now that you know what it is doing, hopefully someone will figure out a strategy and we can all adopt it and break the bot James Thanks. I want to buy more BTCD (well, who wouldn't?) and don't have a lot of spare cash. Was wondering about the best strategy to beat Wally.
