*DUF snipped*

...we would essentially have an effective money system...

*snipped never sell campaign*

Finally, someone is getting it  Grin The change in thinking from Cryptocoin to Cryptoplatform, from Crypto 1.0 to Crypto 2.0. BC has a lot of catching up to do but this is encouraging.

Then hopes dashed as post descends into farce  Cheesy

What features will encourage BC to be adopted for an effective monetary system/Cryptoplatform? You'll be aware there are already a few players in this arena.

Should my client stay open when I lease?

I have asked the devs and waiting for reply. I want to say what I am 90% sure is right but wanted to check first  Grin

The answer came back from the devs.

No, you don't have to keep your Client open when you lease. Otherwise you might as well forge for yourself and defeats the purpose of leasing.

Makes sense  Grin

Edit: LiQio got there first...

BlackCoin: Blackcoin Aims to Be The New Standard For Cryptocurrencies
Read the article about Blackcoin http://coinmarketinfo.com/2014/04/the-black-menace-blackcoin-aims-to-be-the-new-standard-for-cryptocurrencies/

How can a coin with a one minute blocktime achieve "10 second transactions" regularly enough to warrant using it as a headline feature?

Sure, you might hit the odd 10 second time for first confirmation (you could be lucky and hit 1 second) but you could just as easily get 50 seconds or 59 seconds.

And how much did you pay the editor of this article to let this and other ropey claims/opinions through as news?  Cheesy Would/did coindesk have published this article?
2245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: April 28, 2014, 11:40:33 AM
Actually, you could read it from first to 2673th page right now: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.0

It stills the second biggest BTT thread!  Grin
Nostalgic!  Smiley

A nice little statistic about the old thread...

If all the posts that have been posted on nxtforum.org were put in the original thread, the thread would be 3328 pages long now  Shocked Shocked Shocked

We wouldn't have got half as much work completed though  Cheesy Cheesy Maybe we should get 2kewl4skewl to point the last post to this thread also?

C Developer required to work on the Nxt Coin Creation Kit.

What Nxt Coin Creation Kit will mean is that anyone will be able to launch their own coin on top of the Nxt platform, secured by Nxt so the techy side of running a coin is taken care of. It would enable your University/Workplace/Soveriegn Prinicipality  Grin and 'Disney Land Dollars' to have a tradable value in the real world.

It is currently pencilled in for May/June launch but with another dev it can be here sooner. Ask your techy friends if they are interested or know someone who might be Grin

PM jl777 if you are interested, he has a lot of projects so include  Nxt Coin Creation Kit somewhere in your message  Wink

I saw something about leasing forge.

Will there be a pool or something to lease to. Because I want to be sure that I get paid out if I lease an account.

I saw someone was setting up a leased pool but can't find the link now  Undecided I will post here when I find it.

There is a plan in the latest development update to add reporting for balance leasing, effective balances, and fees earned, for the needs of balance leasing pool operators. This, presumably, would make it easier for forged reward distribution to be automated.

With the other developments in the pipeline in Nxt (I am thinking Automated Transactions), I imagine this could be trustless down the line. I recall AT can be used for trustless dividend type payments (among other things). But don't quote me! (yet).
2248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: April 28, 2014, 09:03:39 AM
Daedelus: Obsidian is not bad, since it has a cool history too.

Maybe if we want to use blue stones, the best would be lapis/Lapis lazuli, which was used for trades in ancient times and many times after. Other nice stones, but without cool history, are Lazurite and Azurite.

I started with the idea of slowly overtaking everything and thought of a lava flow so then 'magma', put it in a thesaurus and came up with Obsidian. I liked it, as to a layman like me, it doesn't sound like a rock when you first hear it so it is a bit clever  Wink I didn't go down the geological route directly  Grin

Can someone confirm if the name is or is not up for review or are we all just enjoying dreaming about it?  Grin
2249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: April 28, 2014, 08:42:07 AM
I changed my mind and propose...

Obsidian - The Offical Nxt Client

Nxt flows with a steady and relentless pace through the crypto world, removing and obscuring everything in it's path. The only thing left once Nxt has been through is Obsidian (the rock formed from cooled lava).

Any good?  Grin

Why does everyone call it the Wesley client? Cheesy

Have you named it? We have solaris, freerider, offspring and 'wesleys client'   Grin Grin (sorry if I missed anyone..)

I think you should just call it "Wesley" and it should say 'Hello' and ask how you are when you start it up   Cheesy
2251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NXT] Decentralized Asset Exchange Discussion Thread on: April 28, 2014, 08:11:37 AM
Anyone looking at this thread might want to look at the Nxt Official Thread, here on BTT. It tells you what features will be live next (in addition to Asset Exchange) and when they are being launched. It is the front page of Nxt and is self moderated to be a nice clean place for anyone to find out more about Nxt and ask questions, trolls will have to use this thread or any of the other dozen or so unmoderated Nxt threads  Cheesy Cheesy  Cheesy Cheesy

The next feature to be added to the list is Digital Goods Store. It is a decentralised exchange of anything digital, built on Asset Exchange and the Nxt Blockchain.

You can find the Nxt Official thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=587007.0

Sorry, I confused you there. James isn't involved with what I quoted, he won't know about it but may be able to answer none the less. The OP for that can be found here: https://bitcointa.lk/threads/ethereum-maidsafe-nxt-anything-else-worth-investing-in-in-2014.303978/page-2

It is one billion per asset, a person can issue as many assets as they like. Once the number is issued, it can't be chaneged for that asset. You can also read the Asset Exchange subforum here for a lot of background: https://nxtforum.org/asset-exchange/

Finally, you can also try the asset exchange yourself to work out the mechanics of it here on the testnet: http://nxtra.org/nxt-client/.
PM me your account number and I'll arrange for testNXT to be sent to your account.

Ok. Will definitely give this a shot when I have time. Yea that's probably easier than asking so many questions.

It will answer a lot of your questions on asset exchange (asset issuance for a stock, for example) but not so much on the multisig (asset trading) as it is not part of the testNet. But understanding what is and isn't possible in how an asset is issued is a foundation for understanding the multisig side, as multisig creates assets of whatever you tranfer in.
2253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NXT] Decentralized Asset Exchange Discussion Thread on: April 28, 2014, 07:18:27 AM
If anyone wants testNxt to have a go on the testNet before the official release, you can PM me but there are also quicker options, listed below with the fastest first:

1) Post you account number in the textNXT request thread here: https://nxtforum.org/testnet/some-testnxt-to-test-asset-exchange/new/#new

2) Post your account number here and ask someone to cross post it onto the thread above.

3) PM me you account number and I will request it when I check in (once or twice a day)

Very important point! DO NOT reuse passwords from Nxt on the testNet and in any Nxt clones for that matter.  You make yourself vulnerable to a Clone Attack. Anything that uses the same transaction format as Nxt (including testNet and all lazy clones) can make your Nxt vulnerable to theft. You protect yourself by using a different passphrase for every Nxt, testNet and Nxt Clone account you use.

For more details on how this very simple attack works, see the entry "Clone Attack" in the Nxt Glossary >>>> http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Glossary

Thanks James  Cheesy

While I am here, for anyone wondering what Asset Exchange will do, here is a real world plan for once it is launched  Cheesy

Quote
Here's a small example just using NXT from my own industry (software development). I am an independent software developer and I plan to use the NXT asset exchange (currently in development) to issue software licenses as follows:

[1] - a licensing component in the software makes a call to the NXT network and creates an account (instantaneous)

[2] - it writes the private key to disk and informs the user of the account number

[3] - the user purchases one license unit from the NXT asset exchange

[4] - on a subsequent launch (or periodically) the software detects the presence of the appropriate asset in the account it created for itself and considers the installation licensed

So NXT doesn't have to become the new bitcoin to become hugely valuable. It just has to capture a tiny part of some relatively tiny world markets for all sorts of applications to be massively in demand.

 NXT will be needed to:

 A. Issue the assets (Currently costs 1000 NXT per asset, but I don't know if there's a limit on the quantity you can issue)
 B. Pay for the assets

TL:DR   Software key issuance and management can be done on AE. Cheaply and securely.
RE: asset quantities, the maximum Asset quantity that can be issued is 1 Billion.

2014: defintivly NXT

--> launching Asset exchange in 15 days . Countdown on http://www.nxtcommunity.org/

you forget the real juice!

instantdex + multigateway + asset exchange + fiat gateways = p2p exchange where you can trade real coins(not iou's) at high speed(instantdex) and trade different pairs and not all just nxt/"coins" but btc/"coins" assets/"coins" ect ect... no coins ever get sent to 3rd party ever so no risk of stolen coins + drk coin makes it annymous(until nxtcash and nxt mixer come out making nxt transactions annonymous)!

https://nxtforum.org/multigateway-jl777/secret-project/?topicseen

https://nxtforum.org/multigateway-jl777/secret-project/msg12761/#msg12761

https://nxtforum.org/multigateway-jl777/nxtsubatomic-atomic-crosschain-exchange/

look through https://nxtforum.org/multigateway-jl777/ to see all the other amasing projects!

That's a pretty comprehensive round up!  Cheesy

It should be exciting times, once everything is up and running. Did you make the move to nxtforum kod?

Hi. Sorry trying to catch up in this thread.

Will the Asset Exchange be fully automated exchange in terms of cryptocurrency?

I want LTC for USD or LTC for BTC?

From what I've read it works like Ripple but without Ripple tokens? Does this even use NXT?

I have asked James, the guy who runs the multisig subforum I Pm'd to you, to drop buy with an up to date and most accurate answer  Grin

It is feasible to have tokens on the Asset Exchange directly for anything but trust in the issuer will be required. James' work is built on the asset exchange but he has been working on cross chain transactions so LTC/BTV might be available at launch or soon after.

Have you read anything about InstantDEX yet?

Thank you for this. I hate to be the guy who doesn't sift through all the info for answers. But I'm trying at least! :/

No problem! How goes it in the BC thread? Has there been any of the planned super secret features announced yet? Snoekip and Rat4 might do something (they are unknown quantities to me) but that dzirberm (sorry for spellings) is just blowing smoke  Cheesy If they do launch anything, they will be paying catch up  Grin But let me know if/when anything big comes out.

You should read about the monetary system on nxtforum, coins can be based on the Nxt platform too. I'll stop rambling but BC could basically be secured by Nxts blockchain as well as any other crypto. Then the inflation wouldn't be needed as an incentive to stake (known as forging in these parts  Grin).

Isn't blackcoin just novacoin relabelled with the parameters tweaked? And whitecoin and the rest.

You're twisting the point of what I'm saying. Yes, Blackcoin was built on existing technologies, like nearly every other altcoin. But it cannnot be denied that Blackcoin was the catalyst that started the current PoS craze in the altcoin market.

I agree with you. And craze is the term I would use to.
Of course you agree with him. You want to seem legitimate here.

You miss my meaning. The knowledge in the benefits of POS will remain once the craze in clones is over. That is a good thing. The most valuable members of this community barely post, which is a shame.
