How do you make 2 passowrds and what is a 2fa?

OK... here you go.

1. Create a simple wallet and confirm the email

2. Go to Account settings.

3. In the personal tab, make sure that the email is verified. Then type an alias (don't forget this word)

4. Go to display tab. Select Bitcoin or mBTC as your preferred "Bitcoin Display"

5. Go to passwords tab

6. Click on "Enable Double Encryption". Type 2nd password.

7. Click on "Show / Hide Password Mnemonic" and write it down. Store it somewhere safe and secure.

8. Enter password hints

9. Go to Security Tab.

10. Select Email in Two Factor Authentication (2FA).

11. Go to wallet home. On backup, click on "email". A backup file will be sent on Email. Keep this file somewhere secure (may be an USB drive) and delete the mail.

12. Click on "paper". Printout paper wallet backup, and store it somewhere safe.
22542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wallets on: December 06, 2013, 09:36:27 AM
Blockchain.info is the best online wallet. Use it with 2 strong passwords, and 2FA.

Make sure that the backups are secure and safe.

Else use paper wallet.

In any case protect your system with a good anti-Virus software (My choice is Kasper).
22543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is bitcoin not tulip mania? on: December 06, 2013, 09:34:05 AM
In case of tulip mania, the price crashed as more and more tulip bulbs were made available. However, since the supply of Bitcoins are limited, there is no chance of that happening with the BTC.
22544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Blockchain.info Wallet - Error Decrypting Wallet? on: December 06, 2013, 09:00:51 AM
My problem is similar to the threads here and here.

I was typing the correct password, but every time it is showing the message: Error Decrypting wallet - Check your password.

I tried for some 30 minutes. At last I decided to restore from the backup. During the process it again asked the password and I entered it. This time it was accepted!

I recovered the wallet. Input the same password confirmed my email and logged out.

5 minutes later when I tried to login again... the message is there: Error Decrypting wallet - Check your password.

This is quite irritating. I have to restore from backup every time I want to login?

Edit: I restored from backup for the second time. The login is working (as of now).
22545  Economy / Services / Re: Earn BTC while your computer runs. An alternate form of mining. on: December 06, 2013, 07:51:34 AM
Well I have 0 Bitcoins as of now so that's an infinity% increase in my Bitcoin wealth :p

I'm also taking a bullet for you guys which is the greater good  Grin

If you want just 0.1 mBTC, then go and watch some videos in bitcoinget

You'll get that amount in a matter of minutes. Completely risk free. Similarly, there are hundreds of other risk-free options. Don't download and install anything for $0.10.
22546  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Purchase small amount of BTC ? on: December 06, 2013, 07:37:48 AM
I checked localbitcoins but the sellers I found would not accept paypal.

Hmm...

Check this:

https://localbitcoins.com/buy-bitcoins-online/paypal/

On the plus side looks like ebay is a quick way profit if your trying to offload some BTC for money.
It was quick and easy on ebay I wont complain.

Ebay is quite risky. They regularly ban vendors dealing with BTCs. You'll lose both your BTC and money.
22547  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-12-05 Zerohedge: Citi: Bitcoin May Be A Complement To Gold on: December 06, 2013, 05:53:47 AM
Good news coming from these sources makes me suspect a large dump coming soon.

Those who had ideas to dump already did that when BTC hit $1,000. The next dump might come up at the $2,000 mark. Even the China scare story couldn't crash the exchange value by more than 10%.
22548  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Purchase small amount of BTC ? on: December 06, 2013, 05:48:03 AM
Just a note here.

I was able to make a BTC purchase on ebay. Hassle free. It was a bit expensive paid about 16$ for 10$ worth of BTC.
Most people are trying to sell at double rates there but a few are reasonable.

Its an option if anyone is looking and it worked for me.

60% premium is not that bad in Ebay.

But you should have bought through Paypal from Local Bitcoins. There are reputed sellers who charges as little as 10% to 15% premium.
22549  Economy / Services / Re: Earn BTC while your computer runs. An alternate form of mining. on: December 06, 2013, 05:42:36 AM
I have nothing to lose so I'll try it  Grin

Think twice before you start downloading. You have something to lose if you are downloading and installing a trojan or a keylogger. Simply not worth the effort.
22550  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] BTC-Trading Pass-Through Fund (BTC-TRADING-PT) is closing on: December 06, 2013, 05:39:11 AM
It is unfair.Everyone who buy btc-trading-pt have lost more money in it.Now the LTC/BTC=0.0324,And you use 0.025BTC to buy 2LTC.
Why you don't ask people the LTC address and send them LTC.

Nothing much can be done now. Each BTC-TC shares were worth 2 LTC at the time of liquidation of LTC-Global.Equivalent to 0.075 BTC at today's exchange rate. But we'll be getting only one-third of that. Bad luck.
22551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India = massive potential on: December 06, 2013, 05:32:02 AM
How is their no Indian exchange yet! Huh

Hmm.. you can exchange INR for BTC (or vice-versa) through Indian sites such as www.buysellbitco.in and rbitco.in. Localbitcoins.com is also another option.
22552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Satoshi's paper was submitted in academia would it earn a Masters or PhD? on: December 06, 2013, 04:57:55 AM
Nope. A Masters or PhD thesis with less than 50 pages is too little.

Sadly that is true. A Ph.D thesis should have a minimum of 200-300 pages. That said, I don't think that it will be that hard to add some of the finer details to the original BTC paper and "elongate" it a bit.
22553  Other / Off-topic / Re: Adfly or Coinurl? Feasible on: December 06, 2013, 04:55:15 AM
The current payouts are much higher in Coinurl (after you convert the BTC to USD and then comparing with the Adfly payouts). But it can vary wildly with the BTC exchange rate.
22554  Other / Off-topic / Re: Land From Moon - 0.05 BTC. on: December 06, 2013, 04:52:58 AM
Hey you're laughing at that now - but let's wait 5000 years into the future when man can walk on the sun, that deed will be worth billions if not trillions and trillions of dollars

Even if you are buying a deed now, it won't be worth anything 5,000 years later.

For example, take the case of Antarctica. During the 19th century, a lot of people "purchased" land on the south pole. What happened to them? They lost their money and got nothing in return when the UN declared that Antarctica doesn't belong to any nation or individual.

22555  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Recovery actions for stolen Bitcoin on: December 06, 2013, 04:44:45 AM
How could  any private service force anyone to  give the stolen coins back? They could perhaps find the thief like a private detective. But using force would be illegal.

If stealing the coins are not illegal, then getting them back is also not illegal. This hacking / stealing issue is scaring a way a lot of noobs from Bitcoin. In fact, I'd say that if not for the thieves, the market cap of BTC could have easily crossed 30 billion USD by now.
22556  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Recovery actions for stolen Bitcoin on: December 06, 2013, 04:03:27 AM
I don't think that's technically possible unless some central power retains a "master key" that can arbitrarily modify the blockchain.  And if some central power does, it's very hard to trust that they won't abuse it. No such key exists for Bitcoin, so unless you change the protocol to use the NIST curves or something, where a backdoor already exists, nobody can do that. And if you proposed such a change, you'd make most owners of Bitcoin really angry.

Further, opinions vary on what constitutes "abuse."  You can't really have someone enforcing US law on the blockchain when the coins are circulating worldwide.

No no... I am not talking about modifying the blockchain. I am just talking about a service which can track thieves and get the coins back from them by force.

For example, look at the recent Sheep Marketplace scam. Some users are tracking down the thief, in order to recover the coins from them. Why can't we create a similar service, which will trace hackers and thieves, to force them to bring back the coins which they have stolen.
22557  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Switzerland to vote on $2,800 monthly ‘basic income’ for adults on: December 06, 2013, 03:33:14 AM
while i think that the elite don't pay enough taxes (at least in the U.S.)

You can't punish someone for being rich. But I'd support increasing the inheritance tax though.

It is true that tax rates are lower in the US when compared to the EU. But insane tax rates (75% as in the case of France) can trigger complete economic collapse and capital flight. Just wait for a few years... and we will see the economic collapse of a large number of EU nations.
22558  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Recovery actions for stolen Bitcoin on: December 06, 2013, 03:25:18 AM
We need a (paid) service to recover coins which are stolen through hacking / phishing. Just like the bankers who use the help of recovery agents to get back the amount paid out as loans.
22559  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-12-05 Tesla Purchased With Bitcoin on: December 06, 2013, 03:23:07 AM
What is so special about this? Currently Ford Limos, Audi A8 Ls and many other vehicles are listed in Bitpremier. You can even buy your private island in the Micronesia.
22560  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UPDATE 2-China bars banks from bitcoin transactions on: December 06, 2013, 03:20:58 AM
Doesn't this mean that exchanges will be illegal in China? I would think they are financial institutions..?

No. The statement says that Crypto-Exchanges should get registration from the government. If they want to ban the exchanges, then what is the point in registering them?
