I've never seen whisky stones before. Interesting idea. Much better than watered down liquor Tongue

How long do they stay cold for after taking them out of the freezer?

Looks pretty interesting. Is it going to be recorded and posted online after a certain period of time? Or maybe streamed for a fee? There might be a fair amount of international people willing to watch a stream of such an event for a fee.
2264  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [THEORY] Reverse exploiting Bitcoin on: June 04, 2014, 07:25:36 PM
so its not 'theoretically' possible to hide a trojan horse in the main bitcoin-core
Haven't you ever heard of this NSA crowdsourcing program?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underhanded_C_Contest

Quote
The Underhanded C Contest is a programming contest to turn out code that is malicious, but passes a rigorous inspection, and looks like an honest mistake. The contest rules define a task, and a malicious component. Entries must perform the task in a malicious manner as defined by the contest, and hide the malice. Contestants are allowed to use C-like compiled languages to make their programs.

That is pretty wild. I had never heard of this. I wonder how many people have been caught trying to pull something like this on open source projects? I also wonder how many people(if any) have gotten away with inserting such code(intentionally of course) in to any major open source projects.
2265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [WANTED] Bitcoin Hypothetical Questions for the You, Me, and BTC Podcast on: June 04, 2014, 07:21:32 PM
What would happen to bitcoin if tomorrow we noticed Satoshi moving some of his coins mined in 2009?

What would happen if bitcoin core devs started dying in mysterious circumstances? Could bitcoin recover from such losses?

If GHash.io was discovered executing sucessful double spending attacks on the network, would people still have faith in bitcoin?

If people started targeting large mining operations with bomb attacks to attempt to lower the difficulty, how would miners respond?
2266  Economy / Economics / Re: Solution to poverty - Socialism or Capitalism? on: June 04, 2014, 06:51:14 PM
I don't think it's necessarily an or question. Theoretically you can have capitalism with socialist aspects where it makes sense and improved the quality of life for the population. It's not easy for a government to effectively implement programs that run well and are not wasteful but really it should be possible if a society was willing to put it's best minds to solving these problems.
2267  Economy / Economics / Re: advantage bitcoin over other payment methods online on: June 04, 2014, 06:46:43 PM
I would add that it is also safer. Paying with a credit card or check requires handing over information about your account. Often all the information needed to access your money. With bitcoin I can pay without divulging anything that gives any access to additional money. Even if my account is hacked, the attacker can see my purchases but can't spend.

Well, that's arguable I think. If you're 100% sure computer wise then bitcoin is safe as long as you don't make any big mistakes like losing your wallet or sending to the wrong address, but these things seem to happen to a lot of people right now.

With credit cards if someone uses your card fraudulently they company will refund the money as long as you sign some papers. I had my credit card number stolen before and it wasn't an issue getting it cleared up. But of course you're paying for this safety through fees and interest.

I'm certainly not saying credit cards are better than bitcoin but at this point it's not necessarily clear that bitcoin is safer for the average person.
I see your point about messing up and sending to the wrong address or something. But in the last few months I have had to replace my debit card due to the Target security breach. During this same period I gave my Overstock.com account info to some friends and asked them to try stealing from me. They found no money or card info to steal.
I didn't have to pay for a new card directly, but MasterCard is a business and MUST make a profit off me. They will get that money via fees and such. If done correctly, bitcoin is fundamentally more secure as a system.

It's fundamentally more secure overall, I agree with that. But as a consumer you don't get the same protections that you would with a credit card. If someone scams you, or you buy a product and it never ships and you don't get a refund you can request chargeback and get your money back from Mastercard or Visa.

On the other hand that's a huge downside for merchants. So bitcoins lack of chargebacks is a huge plus for them.
2268  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Are Some of The Craziest Religions Out There? on: June 04, 2014, 06:38:43 PM
If you don't promise something, that church won't be very popular.

A church/religion is all about promising something in return for obedience.

At least, a couple of bitcoins or an increase on the price.

Alright, every 0.1 btc tithed will give the price og bitcoin a "holy wall of hodl" for one minute stopping in from dropping below whatever price it's at the time you send the tithe.

And if it doesn't hold that means that your faith in Satoshi was not strong enough and you should tithe double next time to make up for your lack of faith.
2269  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dank for president? on: June 04, 2014, 06:32:40 PM

Hemp has a negative carbon footprint and the most efficient crop you could grow.

I did some googling and found this article that outlines some of the benefits:

 http://www.forbes.com/sites/ashoka/2013/05/29/industrial-hemp-a-win-win-for-the-economy-and-the-environment/

Not bad. It definitely shouldn't be illegal anyway you look at it.

I don't smoke weed, but I wouldn't mind starting a hemp farm if it's really that good of a crop.

Didn't he accept btc for his new album?
That was snoop dog. But they are all the same gang so they likely would all accept it. Ironically bitcoin follows stoners, or the other way around.

The recent news is 50 cent accepting btc for his new album.

He even did an ama on reddit and answered peoples questions about btc. He said something about staying with the times or something like that. He's always been good at making money. Vitamin Water made him millions upon millions.

Was dank always like this or is it just an act? Cant imagine people would loan him money if he was always this way,.

Dank has always been a character but a lot of people loaned him money because he had stated that his parents are upper-middle class. So people assumed that if there were problems and push came to shove Dank would get the money to pay the people back from his parents.

But when dank threatened to kill his mother just once, to free her of her demons, he was forcibally removed from his house by police.  I don't he will be welcomed back at any time.  His gravy boat has sunk and now he has to pay his own way.

Oh, I didn't know that happened. That's unfortunate.

Dank, I hope you seriously consider taking your prescribed medication. The doctors know what they are doing and it helps.

Was dank always like this or is it just an act? Cant imagine people would loan him money if he was always this way,.

He used to be able to put together posts filled with interesting tibits, and handle himself quite well.

Then he had a quick descent into drugs and injections, and his reality crumbled.  All happened between November of last year and April of this year.

Now he doesn't know his mind is gone.  He views himself as a god and everyone else as delusional.

This is why I said like a vod.  Vod knows I have never injected any drugs into myself, yet he continues to spam his defamation posts.

So yes, like a vod.

It's possible to inject responsibly and safely. Some people with diabetes inject insulin all the time.

And yet, I have a feeling most of us are pretty confident that he was not talking about injecting insulin. But hey, there's always that possibility, too.

Yeah, I know, but I just wanted to make a point about responsible and safe injections. Personally I've never injected any drugs but there are lots of people who inject steroids or other drugs safely. Ketamine is another one that I've read about people injecting. They can buy pharmaceutical brand ketamine and inject that. As long as they know what they are doing and they are using clean needles I wouldn't think any less of a person just because that was their chosen way to administer a drug.
2273  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hunger Games style Thai protests on: June 04, 2014, 06:14:31 PM
The Thai military says it will arrest anyone who uses the salute, which is also a response to bans on political gatherings of more than five people.
Junta spokesman Colonel Weerachon Sukhondhapatipak said authorities were "monitoring the movement" and would take action if the salute is performed in large groups.
He said that if protesters ignore a warning to stop "we will have to make an arrest".
source : http://web.orange.co.uk/article/news/hunger_games_salute_banned_in_thailand

And what if all the people continue to use this salute? army wont have enough jails to move the people in.. that is just a stupid ban to try to make fear whitin the people but in reality it cant work.

Hardly anyone is ever going to use that silly salute. Most people are relieved that the Army finally took over and has brought back some stability. The only annoying part is the curfew which is slowing going away anyway.
2274  Other / Off-topic / Re: What video games do you play? on: June 04, 2014, 05:35:36 PM
I'm playing The Witcher at the moment.

It's an older game but I want to play through some older games and work my way to some newer ones.

So far I'm about halfway through the game and it's starting to pick up a bit. There are some lulls in the story, but overall it seems alright so far.

Anyone played this game? How about The Witcher 2?
2275  Other / Off-topic / Re: NORML Needs You! on: June 04, 2014, 05:31:23 PM
Yeah, I agree, so I posted

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/278m1t/lets_get_clicknpledgecom_accepting_bitcoin_so/

A lot of charities use clicknpledge.com for easy donations, including NORML. So if clicknpledge accepts bitcoin, it will open the door for a bunch of other charities as well.

Mainly I just care about norml Wink

So can someone with visibility that knows how to do these canpaigns tackle clicknpledge now?
Bitpay, I'm a lookin at you...

https://co.clickandpledge.com/sp/d1/default.aspx?wid=77886

So all of yalls upvote that and talk to bitpay and coinbase and get them to sell clicknplay and play on bitcoin.

and then it'll happen.

100 btc equaled $420 usd. heh...

I wonder how many organizations that received btc donates actually held on to their btc. Probably not many but I hope there's at least some that have reaped the rewards from holding.
2276  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dank for president? on: June 04, 2014, 05:28:30 PM
lol you already know Grin

It should really be grown for it's industrial properties though, along with medical.  Hemp has the capacity to feed our entire country's energy needs by growing hemp biodiesel.

I thought that people have figured out that biodiesel is really inefficient and creates a larger carbon footprint.

How would hemp harvesting for biodiesel solve those issues?

Total time logged in: 11 days, 17 hours and 8 minutes.

That's actually not so bad.

I've had a lot of really long breaks from the forum.

I'm starting the Church of Satoshi.

Worshipers will be referred to as bitcoinites.

We will require a small tithe payable in bitcoin.

Satoshi sacrificed his wealth for your sins. Billions of dollars lay dorment so you can purchase your drugs on onion sites. Repent sinners.
