Are you going by BTC Sold on Ebay rates as well? I sold a few .1 BTC increments on Ebay for $280 each about a week ago, so $2800 per coin. I got lucky and only one person charged back so far though.

Just giving you the heads up, self moderated or not, you are going to get a lot of hate asking Ebay prices. Ebay prices are the way they are because everyone on there is a scammer, and in order to break even, they have to sell at a 300+% markup to make up for the 66% of buyers being scammers.

Strictly hypothetical senario, say the miners were to predicted to make 11 BTC during their lifetime. If you buy the miner direct from the manufacturer for 10 BTC, or $7,000 because the price of Bitcoins at the time were $700 per coin, and then the price of BTC drops to $500 per coin, the miner isn't still worth $7,000 or 14 BTC at the new rate, its still worth around 10-11 BTC which just so happens to be about $5,000. Mining hardware is directly pegged to Bitcoins, not USD. That works the oposite way as well, if you pay 5 BTC for some hardware at $1000 per coin, and then the price of BTC goes up to $2000, the miner is still worth 5 BTC.

I know you are saying $3,000 loosely here, and I'm sure you are willing to negotiate, however for $3,000 at current rates you could just outright buy 4 Bitcoins, which is more than the miner can possibly produce in its lifetime, and then you don't have to deal with a physical object, which is why mining hardware tends to sell for its predicted income generation, minus a few percent for the trouble. Kind of like a structured settlement in Bitcoins. You can have 10.5 BTC now for the hardware in the senario, or you can wait a few months and gather it slowly for a total of 11 BTC. It doesn't make sense for someone to pay $3000 (4 BTC) for hardware that wont make 4 BTC.

No disrespect, but I'm sure you will get a lot of unconstructive critism, and wanted to provide you with actual useful information rather than just calling you names. If you want top dollar, your best bet is to play roulette on Ebay.
2282  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Reddit’s science forum banned climate deniers. on: December 20, 2013, 04:24:45 AM
Well, the majority of my professors actually talk against the global warming theory somewhat. They acknowledge that human activity is surely doing something, however historical average temperature charts from wayyyyy before people were influencing anything show a cycle fairly consistent to what is happening now. The chart that Al Gore used in, An Inconvient Truth, was a very small scaled graph that got everyone worked up. Look over the course of 1 billion years, and we are barely off of the bottom.

and the part that people freak out about, is that 1/10th of a centimeter upswing towards the end of the graphs.

Check out all of the neat graphs here: http://www.c3headlines.com/temperature-charts-historical-proxies.html
2283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Fibonacci SCRYPT ASIC Litecoin LTC Miners - Datasheet Posted on: December 20, 2013, 01:36:52 AM
Yes the lead engineer is in Germany so no biggie there. He will likely be doing the testing personally as he is a bit anal also. As for shipping obsolete units, we would need a competitor that is closing in on our speeds and able to keep up on future models for this to happen. To date I do not see any issues.

Meh, I'm 0 for 3 buying hardware from outside of the US/Canada. I have every package mysteriously go missing through customs  Cry
2284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Fibonacci SCRYPT ASIC Litecoin LTC Miners - Datasheet Posted on: December 20, 2013, 01:31:24 AM
I too am interested, will there be a point in which you will just be selling units outright, rather than taking preorders before the units go obsolete and you start producing the next model? I'm rather excited to see people prove me wrong about Scrypt Asics, however preorders rub me the wrong way, even from other companies that have proven themselves (KNC, Asicminer, etc)

Also, will all units be shipped from Germany?

Willing to offer me one early for review as a longtime community member?

Hehe, I also wouldn't be opposed, however I dont think I fit the same criteria as tacotime. I'm a lifelong member, but not a fellow dev.

Looking for around another 600 Ghash I believe.
2286  Other / Meta / Re: Meta these days... on: December 19, 2013, 10:28:17 PM

I guess I understand that. Bitcoiners do seem to be pretty evangelical about the "one true coin".

BTW: Reading your posts was one of the reasons I got into Litecoin.

Awww, I'm touched. I was a big litecoin supporter early on, I was a Solidcoin supporter early on, until I ran afoul of Realsolid, and I was also a big Bitcoin supporter early on. I just enjoy cryptos in general. In reality, when I became the Altcoin Moderator, my official title was, "Smoothy's Babysitter" but he mellowed out when he found his own thing with Physical Litecoins. I'm glad that I helped get you in (hopefully at a good time and I didn't lose you any money)

All of that asside, this is primarily a Bitcoin forum, and I've got no problem with that. I don't really blame people that have vested financial interest for not being thrilled about people talking about the competition, if alt coins are competition.

Thats why when a big topic, such as Doge gets out of the Altcoin board, and starts ending up everywhere else, people complain, and its a big hassle for a while. Oddly enough, I am quite interested in how Dogecoin is going to end up. I saw the initial reasoning behind making it, and why it gained early support, so I'm curious as to how things turn out. I should probably buy some because I actually do have a Shiba Inu.
2287  Other / Meta / Re: Meta these days... on: December 19, 2013, 10:12:02 PM
Salty, didn't you used to be one of the biggest altcoin supporters?

I still am, I've also been the moderator of the Alt Coin board for over a year now. While I do enjoy alt currencies, I don't like it when their issues spread to the rest of the BTC Forums, because then we get negative attention, and the mob with torches starts up.

2288  Other / Meta / Re: Meta these days... on: December 19, 2013, 09:50:59 PM
You aren't supposed to post Alt Coin stuff in the newbie section, no. Every so often someone will ask a specific question about a coin in particular, and that is normally fine, however general alt coin threads aren't supposed to be in the newbie section. Bitcoin is complicated enough without new members having to wrap their heads around the other 500 alt coins that pop up daily.

But, the primary reason for Alt Coins not being allowed in the Newbie Section, is that this is a Bitcoin forum, there is an Altcoin section for Altcoin discussion (crowded or not) so alt coin threads are generally not supposed to be anywhere besides the Alt Coin section, or preferably on their own forum.
2289  Other / Meta / Re: Meta these days... on: December 19, 2013, 04:59:42 PM
...is full of spammy threads asking the same question. Can we get some moderators in here?

And this isn't? Heh, but the answer is no. Moderators aren't supposed to touch threads in certain boards, Meta and Scam Accusations being the big two. I'm sure there is exception for threads that just say, "hi" or something like that, but for the most part, nope.
2290  Other / Meta / Re: [CENSORSHIP] Matthew N. Wright on: December 19, 2013, 05:52:12 AM

You know, salt lick, I'm not a staff member and the fact that you are and that you stood by while theymos "trusted" Tradefortress is enlightening and one of many reasons you should be embarassed to wear that "staff" emblem.  If anyone's leaving would serve the community it's you and the other staff/admins who should go.  I am not the person doing a dis-service to this community.

If you cared enough to read the hundreds of old threads, Theymos "trusted" Tradefortress because the list of people that he trusted was consistent with the general consensus as to who should be trusted to start out the system. Theymos didn't personally trust the guy, its just that he was qualified to be an accurate judge of trust.

Nefario was trusted, Pirateat40 was trusted, PatrickHarnett was trusted,

If only we could see the future.

*edit*

I am not the person doing a CRIMINAL dis-service to this community.

This is a forum, it is not the better business bureau.

At the risk of taking this already necroed thread anymore off topic, if you would like to continue on with our chat, you are welcome to pm me, or start a new thread.
2291  Other / Meta / Re: [CENSORSHIP] Matthew N. Wright on: December 19, 2013, 05:37:10 AM
I'm so glad the asshole site admins kept marking Tradefortress as positive trust.  You guys did a great job of befriending him while banishing matthew for speaking out.

Site admins are completely irresponsible (and hoarding millions of $ in user donations).

2292  Other / Meta / Re: Default Trust, how to get on? on: December 19, 2013, 03:18:59 AM
If you're on default trust your trust actually counts.  If not, my ratings don't really mean much to others.  It would be nice if there was a system in which if you have had 5 or more successful trades you could get on the list.

Then what if someone was to just make 5 accounts and leave themselves feedback? Your feedback does count, anyone who is doing a deal with someone is going to check their untrusted feedback as well, and check out the details before doing the trade. Just because untrusted feedback doesn't effect the little number next to your name, doesn't mean it doesn't count.

all pms responded to, still have room for more hardware.
2294  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTC-E now having largest daily trading volume on: December 18, 2013, 07:23:40 PM
I have used BTC-E for quite a while now, due to privacy reasons. I've never had to confirm ID or anything else with them. I had 14 BTC stuck in my Gox account that I couldn't get out, as I wasn't allowed to send ID overseas. Not to mention, I didn't want to in the first place, so that was probably the largest selling feature for me. That and those that were around about a year and a half ago when BTC-E was hacked, they showed that their customer support is phenominal, someone was able to inject fake USD into the exchange through an exploitation of the Liberty Reserve deposit method, leading to $40,000 in stolen funds, which they paid immediately out of BTC-E's own pockets (This was $7-8 BTC at the time too, so not a small amount of coin). Not to mention that they have to be the most unlicensed exchange ever, but their location is keeping them safe from U.S enforcement. For some reason, I have always felt the safest with BTC-E despite them being able to walk off the face of the earth with extreme ease.

The cons however are the language barrier, there are often misunderstanding's with support due to the language barrier, but in my experience everything gets handled. You just have to be slightly more patient, and you may need to rexplain yourself.
2295  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining equip price and BTC price on: December 18, 2013, 04:48:42 PM
Mining hardware isn't pinned to the $, its to the BTC. If a piece of equipment will only mine 1 BTC in its lifetime before starting to cost you money due to electricity cost, the hardware is only worth 1 BTC - time/effort
2296  Economy / Goods / Re: Buy, Sell, or Trade Collectors Silver, Gold, and Bullion on: December 18, 2013, 04:41:32 PM
Added a few more coins, the price ticker is a little wonky, so please pm me if you are interested in any.
2297  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] ASICs / Mining Hardware on: December 18, 2013, 04:35:52 PM
I'm interested in buying just about any Asic hardware at a price that actually will ROI. I'm not interested in Ebay pricing, however I am willing to negotiate. Pm me with hash rate, power draw, and price of your equipment, and you will get a response from me post haste.

I'm ok with Escrow through JohnK (if he is around) TomatoCage, DannyHamilton, OgNasty, or Kludge, so pick your preference.
2298  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Price Drop Cause? on: December 18, 2013, 08:00:53 AM
Salty, your a veteran and a moderator, is this price drop good or bad, and what aesthetic chances of me getting a profit off buying right now?

Well see thats the problem, if I knew, I'd be a multi millionaire. In my opinion, there are two likely outcomes

1) The rumors are debunked by someone who can actually verify what they are saying, and the price goes back up

2) The rumors are true, and the price drops even further

In my personal opinion, I think we are at a median point between holding and hoping for the price to go back up when we all find out this is an elaborate hoax, and getting ready to sell off before BTC drops back down to what it was before the Chinese rush.

The interesting thing with Bitcoin is that a lot of psychology and sociology principals apply to how the market is doing, but every so often all scientific logic is defied, and things just happen. I, like many others believe the Bitcoin price will be $1000+ in the medium to long term, so I'm strictly discussing my speculation on the value in the immediate future. Personally, I'm holding, because I haven't found enough evidence to convince me that what coindesk is reporting is true, and that people are getting caught up in hysteria. But, the hysteria would continue even if debunked until enough people knew to spread the news, so we could be in for a rough couple of days, even if BTC is still openly traded in China and set to rise.

If I didn't stress it enough, these are my own opinions, and I have been wrong in my speculation more than once in the past, so I'd advise looking for some info regarding the drop, think about the factors and the possible outcomes, and rationalize the senarios by your own logic. (Thats my way of saying don't hold me liable if you buy in now and lose money due to a drop, or buy in late and miss out)

would you mind moving it to the right place for me when i hit move topic i cannot find the correct option.

I'd do it for you, but I can't as I'm not the moderator of this board.

I would like to point out however, that those comments are not feedback left out of trade, but out of opinion. It looks like the OP doesn't like the businesses they spoke out against, and were given negative feedback for that reason. Always read the reasons why people have negative feedback, as one's opinions do not make them any less trustworthy, even if they are unpopular. The negative feedback comes from a scam accustation which the OP redacts and apologizes for: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=368056.0

@TerraHasher, are you willing to use escrow? That is probably the most important question.
