ING stapt in technologie achter bitcoin

I assume this is just change of Xenforo script.
Theres too much at risk if Theymos starts a new one from scratch considering the amount of contents and the link back going to the pages of the forum.

You can find all discussions about the new forum software at: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=167.0

Or is it still just Theymos's and Badbear's subjective opinion that make the decision?!?
Yes.[...]

That sucks, in the "spirit of BTC" (decentralisation, power to the people and all that) that decision should be transparent, publicly known and controllable...

Do you think they should also bring back Wowowee?

What does that has to do with anything (discussed here in this topic)? (Please don't answer that, it's a rhetorical question... It's simply off-topic.)

That has a better chance than you getting a sub-forum.[...]

Why? That's bull! There is an obvious NEED for one (better numbers in both views as well as participation by unique visitors than a lot of "Local" sub-sections that DO exist)...

BTW I personally have nothing to do with Philippines, so you don't have to get personal (by using "you") either. I am only noticing that that topic has a disproportional activity in the "Other languages/locations" topic.

shed some light against them likely walking completely (i hope)[...]

You're welcome...  Grin I hope so too...

Was a little bit reluctant about posting it; not to make BFL "the wizer" during the negotiations. But seeing as Mrs. Wong (representing the FTC) contrary to BFL's lawyers is acting professional... Think it will be OK, but still very curious about the details of the settlement.

For other people who are interested: check the docket (see link in my sig) or follow Xian's updates!

[...]your thoughts on the likely resolution of all this...even it goes all the way to trial and verdict....need a wider view on this then my own narrow view I think

OK, so:

100% fine/settlement between FTC and BFL;
99% Bankruptcy of BFL;
80% BFL senior staff will get some sort of beef with some kind of Tax collection agency (fines, repo's et cetera); and,
20% Sonny goes to jail because of parole violation...
<10% some legal agency goes after the principals on some ground of criminal behaviour and asks for further jail-time...

my 2c...  Grin

Haha!

Hear, hear, second that!

Well, I was bored so here's the math.

The past 7 days (little over by a few hours, +~12).

140 posts, 20 unique users, average of 20 posts a day.

10 users posted 3 times or less.

Top 5 posters account for 95 of 140 posts, top 3 account for 72.

An entire new section is probably not needed yet.

@Xian01

It was an answered officially on the second page of this thread by Badbear.

Theymos and Badbear are the only ones that can create new sub-forums.

There is no need or enough unique use to warrant a new sub-forum.

The 20 or so individuals and their alts posting hundreds of pages in thread are fooling no one.

~BCX~

Well there was a reaction on those numbers too; they (the Philippino's numbers) are still a lot better than the numbers on a lot of existing language sub-sections (like, for instance: Hebrew, Croatian and Korean)...

So then comes the question: what are the objective numbers needed? Or is it still just Theymos's and Badbear's subjective opinion that make the decision?!?
2331  Other / Meta / Re: Can the Philippines PLEASE get their own sub-section? on: November 03, 2015, 09:01:09 AM
Reading through the thread and with consideration to other local boards and their overall activity, the merit of a sub-section seems reasonable to me.
That and this threads constant bumping one way or the other seems to signify a strong vocal demand for it.

The Croatian subforum also raises questions about the rationale to ignore this subsection, either way debating about it seems to be getting nowhere so either the forum is censoring languages and usage or they just don't have a qualified moderator interested in taking up the position which seems like a valid reason for a nomination process.

Badbears last updated statistics were from July so if he is bored a 4 month update would seem worth a look to provide better insight.

And also a comparison to already existing language sub-forums (Hebrew, Croatian, Korean for instance)... These numbers alone don't mean squat. A comparison says it all. There is an obvious NEED for a Philippino sub-section...

Good to see this (part) has been settled "out of court", enough (er even too much) public resources have gone into this already.

I am very curious about the details... (not to mention criminal and fiscal continuation...)

Roll Eyes
2337  Other / Meta / Re: Can the Philippines PLEASE get their own sub-section? on: October 28, 2015, 10:37:12 AM

Still no sub-forum.

Imagine that.

Show a need and you might get one. ***

Right now, there is no need.

Not enough unique users.
[...][/size]

For the 100-th time (do you even read before reacting?!?): the Philippines topic has a lot BETTER numbers than a lot of other language sub-forums (Croatian just being ONE example, Hebrew another). So the numbers ("unique users" too) do NOT lie... There is a NEED. (<- period)
2338  Other / Meta / Re: Can the Philippines PLEASE get their own sub-section? on: October 28, 2015, 10:34:31 AM
[...] lets see the reasons why they cant give it to us

No, that's NOT our job, that's (useless) speculation. Our job is to show why there SHOULD be a sub-forum, the admins should/could give the reasons why not...
2339  Other / Meta / Re: Can the Philippines PLEASE get their own sub-section? on: October 27, 2015, 04:27:03 PM
[...]Probably that another reason why they cant give a subforum for the Phillipines is who will be the moderator. Most active filipinos here aren't high ranking yet and some dont know the rules very well

a. That might be a valid reason, but... Why not say so then? That can be overcome, once openly discussed; BUT,

b. Another sub-section I participate in is the Croatian one and that started even WITHOUT a moderator! (The current moderator was installed MONTHS after the start of that sub-section...)
2340  Other / Meta / Re: Can the Philippines PLEASE get their own sub-section? on: October 27, 2015, 01:56:30 PM
400.000 page views from 250.000 just 7 weeks ago, and still not a section on its own...  Undecided
And up to over 450.000 views; up 50.000 (>10%) in just 10 days...

There have been whole sections (like Hebrew for instance) that have not been posted in this entire period...

Can the Philippines PLEASE get their own sub-section? Pretty please?!?
And another 50.000 extra views in just over 10 days...

Over 500.000 page views, HALF a MILLION views...

There are subsections getting moderators appointed with FAR less activity...

Please, can the Philippines get their own sub-section Huh
Hoppa! And just another couple of weeks and the number hit 600.000!!!

Most sub-fora I'm active in (Croatian, Dutch, Serbian) are not even close to that kind of activity...

Strange this group has not got it's own sub-forum yet...

And in just over three weeks another 100.000 (a HUNDRED THOUSAND) views...

Passed 700.000 views and no sub-section...

This is starting to get funny.  Lips sealed

EDIT:

So if we look at the "top-5-Other languages/locations" per views, we see:

Pilipinas (Philippines) 706766
(Serbian) 146658
Việt (Vietnamese) 135197
Slovenija (Slovenia) 103488
Česky (Czech) 101228

Sorry, but anyone still defending there is no "need" for a Philippines sub-section I simply can not take seriously anymore...  Undecided
