This means that the bet has -.064BTC equity for the investors.

Opps. Let me redo the worked example. The code itself for this works fine, it's just the example I screwed up. I was just trying to eyeball some round numbers for the example, and never actually realized it was -EV
2322  Economy / Gambling / Re: The new MoneyPot.com -- A bitcoin gambling wallet on: April 11, 2015, 11:11:41 PM
This is really the worst thing i have ever seen

please explain those numbers

I'm not quite sure I understand your complaint, but investors certainly never taking an unprofitable bet. I tried to clean up the explanation on the FAQ, could you give it a reread and see if it's a bit more clear?
2323  Economy / Gambling / Re: The new MoneyPot.com -- A bitcoin gambling wallet on: April 11, 2015, 10:10:58 PM
I see , thank you for clearing that up, but the words app - developers does it means that sites owner?

Yeah

Quote
Since there are a few reputable sites in here, will this actually means that moneypot will target a new sites to provide a safe bet for user rather than asking the reputable sites to join moneypot.com?

Our immediate focus is on stability, and polish. We are trying to get dustdice world-class by implementing all required features in MoneyPot that that would require (a faucet, stats, a chat server), and once we have that we'll start approaching game developers and people who can make great gambling games.
2324  Economy / Services / Re: First Avatar Campaign - Up to 0.01/Month For Your Avatar! on: April 11, 2015, 09:39:51 PM
Please remember, this is an unofficial campaign as I don't have the time to vet the participants or guarantee the payments. I however have given Snailman a bitcoin to use for his campaign as he sees fit.
2325  Economy / Gambling / Re: The new MoneyPot.com -- A bitcoin gambling wallet on: April 11, 2015, 08:39:50 PM
the above quote is quite confusing, what does it means by "our bankroll?" . Do you mean dustdice bankroll? or could you mean the entire user of vault bankroll? and by the words profit , does this means that it will be the investment profit or the profit we made from our bet?

I'll clean that up. By "our bankroll", it means MoneyPot.com's bankroll. We offer a bankroll as a service, which will accept most kinds of bets. As an app developer, you can use this bankroll to service your players bets.

It'll make more sense if you read and the Investor FAQ first. By profit, I mean the difference between what we pay investors and what we pay users. Let's say a user did a bet that lost 1 BTC, and we gave 0.99 BTC to the investors (to make it in their interests to accept that bet) it would mean we made a profit of 0.01 BTC. And of that we give you, the app developer, 50% of it in exchange for sending us the bet. So the app developer in this case would have made 0.005 BTC of risk-free money.
2326  Economy / Gambling / Re: Introducing DustDice.com (beta) on: April 11, 2015, 07:24:56 PM
Thanks for the strong turn out! We've so far had 27 BTC wagered so far, with our investors netting 56k from it. The public page for the app is: https://www.moneypot.com/apps/1-dust-dice which shows some recent bets, and will soon include some more detailed statistics.

2327  Economy / Gambling / Re: The new MoneyPot.com -- A bitcoin gambling wallet on: April 11, 2015, 07:17:59 PM
As I understand it, one of the selling points of MoneyPot is that the gambling sites you deposit to using it never get access to the coins you deposit unless you lose them, and so players don't need to trust new gambling sites which use MoneyPot, they only need to trust you.

That is one of the design goals of MoneyPot.

An app can only access its app balance (which can instantly be refilled, and maintains a complete audit history), but there are no restrictions of what the app can do with that balance. This is something with time we were thinking about re-adding. Your app balance always lives on MoneyPot.com, so you can at anytime revoke permissions to the app or pull money from the app balance.

Quote
As the player loses coins on a MoneyPot-linked gambling site the player's balance (at MoneyPot) is debited and the site's balance (at MoneyPot) is credited. To get their coins the gambling site requests a withdrawal from their MoneyPot account.

Did I get that right?

That is correct
2328  Economy / Gambling / Re: The new MoneyPot.com -- A bitcoin gambling wallet on: April 11, 2015, 05:29:25 PM
lets say I will offer a dice game (or any other game) on my website. Vault registered users will have the possibility to play at my site by sending coins to my site and back without any fee for me and the player?

Deposits are free for you, and users. Withdrawals have a nominal fee of 100 bits, to cover mining fees (and that might need to increase). If they already have a balance on their MoneyPot.com account, they can transfer back and forth to your app freely, without costs

Quote
I didnt understand how the provably fair will be handled? you will check it or offer it?
We offer it as a service. Using it is a prerequisite if you want to gamble against our bankroll, it allows us to make sure your not cheating. And it allows you to make sure we're not cheating you (or your players)

Quote
in case I will offer "investors" each bet will go against Vault investors? if yes..... Vault would set the maximum bet amount each time a new bet is done or will the max bet  always be the same?
The max bet changes depending on the type of the bet, and how much is invested. We allow people to freely invest and divest, so the max bet is continually changing (and hopefully increasing over time)

Quote
could I hold bets with my bankroll up to a given risk amount and Vault the amount that will be above?

Yes, that's perfectly fine, I have no issue with it. It will however add a lot of complexity to your app, that likely isn't worth it. But it's entirely your choice.

Quote
the 50% share of all profits Vault takes..........when will it be taken? each bet, each end of day? end of week or month?

Every bet. Let's say we make a profit of 100 bits, due to a bet you refer us (the difference between the odds offered to investors and gamblers) - we instantly credit your app with 50 bits, and us with 50 bits. As an app developer, using the betting API you never can lose money -- only be credited it.
2329  Economy / Gambling / Re: The new MoneyPot.com -- A bitcoin gambling wallet on: April 11, 2015, 04:00:04 PM
The faq does a good job explaining everything except how an investment is paid out, does it go in your balance?
How often? Assuming traffic picks up.

What section of the wallet will gains go too?

Please clarify this portion of the investor section when you get the chance.

You need to divest in order to get the money into your account, which you can do at anytime. Give it a try with a small amount, and see how the invest/divest system works. All investments are really just giving you a fixed percentage of the bankroll, which itself may go up or down.
2330  Economy / Gambling / Re: The new MoneyPot.com -- A bitcoin gambling wallet on: April 11, 2015, 02:30:28 PM
how to invest in bakroll i did not see any option there?

It's on the tab bar for logged in users: https://www.moneypot.com/me/investment
2331  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit.com -- The Social Gambling Game (formerly moneypot.com) on: April 11, 2015, 12:01:34 PM
has vault its own thread? cause I didnt see one, thanks

yup
2332  Economy / Gambling / Re: Introducing DustDice.com (beta) on: April 11, 2015, 12:00:33 PM
im betting on 47% and why this amount multiplier isnt set to 2x and /2?

It automatically adjusts, to make it easy to chase your loses. If you don't like this behavior, we added an option:

called "Custom bet multiplier", which you can lock to 2x /2  (or what ever you like)
2333  Economy / Gambling / Re: The new MoneyPot.com -- A bitcoin gambling wallet on: April 11, 2015, 05:55:24 AM
bustabit.com and dustdice do need a separate registration?

That's correct. Bustabit doesn't use MoneyPot (vault), while DustDice does (and thusly has none of it's own accounts).  Bustabit.com is 100% separate, running it's own infrastructure.
2334  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit.com -- The Social Gambling Game (formerly moneypot.com) on: April 11, 2015, 05:52:05 AM
does my account on moneypot still exist on bustabit?

or i need to create new account too? sorry just came back from holiday and noticed moneypot changed

All accounts are still there, the only thing that's changed is the name =)
2335  Economy / Gambling / Re: Introducing DustDice.com (beta) on: April 11, 2015, 05:17:15 AM
How to play I cant play
if this is still experimental

You can play, but it's still a bit experimental. You need to register an account on MoneyPot.com to play, you then authorize the DustDice app and deposit some money =)

quick heads up for ryan, it seems like the dustdice is taking up whole of my browser page, will it means that there will be no chat feature for it?
We're going to add a jackpot, but we're still deciding how it'll fit into the design.

Quote
and also what does the jack pot means, is it a multiplier of my wager or is it a number which I need to hit in order to get the jackpot?

The jackpot is just how much money you'll make (plus your bet back). A jackpot of 1 BTC, means if you hit it, you'll make a 1 BTC profit. The larger the jackpot you try win, the lower probability you'll have of winning it. As our bankroll increases, you'll be able to win bigger and bigger jackpots.

I'll create a techncial explanation of how the technical part of that works, and how to verify it as part of the provably fair. =)
2336  Economy / Gambling / Re: Introducing DustDice.com (beta) on: April 11, 2015, 04:18:40 AM
Isnt the house edge 2%?

Win prob: 49%
Payout: 2x

Well spotted, but there's also a jackpot. 1% of your bet goes towards winning the Jackpot at pure odds, which makes the house edge actually 1%. For instance, if you set the jackpot to 0*, you'll win it every 1 in 100 games. So you have 49% chance of doubling your money, a 1% chance of getting your bet back, and a 50% chance of losing. Which works out as a 1% house edge. Or you can set your jackpot to a much more substantial amount, and have a nice win when you hit it.

More details of this are in the FAQs.

* We currently don't support a 0 bit jackpot, the current minimium is 1 bit. Although that's something I can change if you guys want to win only your bet back
2337  Economy / Gambling / Re: Introducing DustDice.com (beta) on: April 11, 2015, 03:42:53 AM
Can i ask about the withdrawal if its instant?

Withdrawals are instant

Quote
How many confirmations needed for deposit to be credited?

One confirmation

Quote
Is there a faucet to try it out?

Not yet, we plan on releasing one next week along with a chat server. Ask me on bustabit.com chat, and I'm happy to send you a few thousand bits to play with =)
2338  Economy / Gambling / Re: The new MoneyPot.com -- A bitcoin gambling wallet on: April 11, 2015, 03:40:00 AM
It looks pretty nice! If we had an account on moneypot.com, (now bustabit.com) prior to the existence of vault, does that account work for vault?

Unfortunately not. They're completely separate systems. They share no infrastructure in common. In the long term we hope to move bustabit.com to using the moneypot.com (vault) system, but due to a lot of the requirements of bustabit (load, latency, sensitivity) we decided to put it off until we have months of battle testing moneypot.com under our belts

New Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1221672.0

Link: https://www.DustDice.com

We decided to take a more visually-driven approach to traditional dice sites: As
you bet, you watch your balance go up and down.

  • Green = win
  • Red = lose

Here's a quick rundown:
  • Mobile Ready
  • Keyboard driven betting (use your arrow keys)
  • House edge: 1% (or less!)
  • Investment System
  • Users, bets and funds managed by MoneyPot.com
  • Provably fair, and checked after each bet
  • Invest in the house, through MoneyPot.com

DustDice is the first app that implements the new MoneyPot API, it's in an early state right now now, but we're improving fast.
