2341  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man won 12 times in lottery on: July 24, 2019, 08:34:36 AM
He really did it and that's not easy, you need a huge amount of money and a lot of staff to pull this off and not to mention the risk of having two or three winners, I don't know if anyone, any group, anywhere is still doing this but I don't see anything illegal it's risky but profitable.

I do not think that is possible nowadays. The lottery laws are all different now and the number of possible results is way greater than before. He was just lucky because in his era it is easier to reach the desired pot in order to do his trick. I just admired how he got to convince people to finance his lottery tricks.
2342  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You don't loose if you don't encash on: July 23, 2019, 11:38:20 PM
It is only applicable to stocks and investments that have fundamental values like gold or bitcoin otherwise it is a risky move. You can suddenly find yourself being a bag holder. It is also not applicable to traders because you need to set a stop loss in order to minimize losses. Only investors benefits to this move.
2343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you be mad if satoshi sold all coins they own right now? on: July 23, 2019, 10:16:51 PM
Mad is not he right word for me. I'll be more disappointed if he sells his bitcoin all at once. I truly believe in bitcoin so the creator dumping his coins means it is a failure.

But I do not think this will ever happen. If ever his bitcoins will move, it is more likely to be spent not dump. I think satoshi is still afraid of the government so he won't make a move that will allow the government to track him down.
2344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: July 23, 2019, 09:20:21 PM
Can't wait for the next season I wonder what Zion Williams got in his pocket when he finally faces the living legends like Lebron, Curry, and some other NBA stars out there.

A lot is expected from this rookie since he is hyped so much. The last one I know that got this much hype in a rookie year was Lebron. He will not have that much impact on his rookie year. I am much more concern in his health than how he will perform. He needs to get fitter and remove extra weight for his knees to remain healthy.
2345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man won 12 times in lottery on: July 23, 2019, 02:07:59 PM
Not all people are capable to do that and only few would risk just to attempt what he did. Sadly as common to many gamblers, he got greedy and repeated it for 12 times making him to alert the government then jail him in the end.

I got intrigued by the story so I googled him. What he did was not illegal because he waited for the prize to reach 3 times the number of potential winning combinations. The government cannot arrest him because he has done nothing wrong. He got jailed because he committed some investment scams. He also did not pay his investors and declared bankruptcy.

But, I believe in a Jokic kind of play. If trained well it could be the dagger to win a championship. With the center passing, shooting and penetrating like him, he just needs a good team mate who can really shoot.

Jokic is a center but does not just play center but also a playmaker. I think the Murray-Jokic tandem has a lot of potential in the future. They are young and they still can improve their chemistry and plays. NBA has evolved that centers are not limited to the paint. I think his game will evolve together with Murray.

He showed a lot of confidence in games they played, but with Irving, he cannot show his true potential, he need more touches on the ball so he can score.
I think the management knows that already and that makes them decide to allow Irving to leave.
They are underrated now but they are Celtics, so I think we will be surprise when the season starts.
Rooting for them to reach in the playoffs.

It is just sad that they do not have Rozier anymore. In my opinion, Rozier is a better fit for them than Hayward if they are going for a fast-paced game. I believe they can still make it to the playoffs since they are in the East. The competition is not as hard compared to the powerhouses in the West.
2347  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why the martingale system sucks! (doubling down on losses) on: July 23, 2019, 07:27:09 AM
The martingale strategy has been discussed in this forum over and over already. And most would agree that it never work. Most of the gamblers also have done it at least once in any casino. I guess this topic will always pop up as long as there are new gamblers who would want a sure way to win against the house.

I was lured to play with a large amount, although I still lost it all because it’s not the kind of amount required for such strategy.

You can only surely win in martingale is when you have an infinite amount of money to play with. No one has that money and online casinos have limits on the amount you can bet.

2348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about the price of Bitcoin if Donald Trump can ban Bitcoin ? on: July 22, 2019, 04:55:53 PM
Bitcoin will definitely take a hit and the price may suffer for some time. I do not know how low it will drop if the US bans bitcoin, but I know bitcoin will still recover from it. Bitcoin is worldwide and not constricted to US. That is the beauty of decentralization. US can ban it but it will still continue to grow in countries where it is accepted.
2349  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman on July 20 on: July 22, 2019, 06:36:14 AM
Fans hated Thurman but what he showed in the ring gain him a lot of respect and being undefeated has no value if you cannot entertain the fans.

Sure he did. He gave Pacman a good fight. I was thinking, if he was not downed on the first round, he could have won the fight. He connected more and he dominated the late rounds.

This just has been spoken in a US Congress hearing: "There is bitcoin, and shitcoin

We have to give credit to Ms. Demirors for a good job explaining the difference between shitcoins and bitcoin.

The altcoin holders are definitely in full force and are definitely not very happy with both the rep. and with Meltem Demirors(the woman).

I supposed it was to be expected. It was a direct hit to them. The clip just categorized other cryptos are shitcoins.
2351  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman on July 20 on: July 20, 2019, 02:01:02 PM
I have a feeling that so many people here are over-estimating the chances of Manny Pacquiao. At the best, I would give equal chances to Pacquiao and Thurman. But current odds, like 1.5 for Pacquiao and 2.5 for Thurman looks very difficult to digest for someone like me. I agree that Pacquiao is a legend and commands huge fan following. But Thurman is in very good form recently and during the past few years he has beaten a few big names. And another factor is that the fight is happening in the US and Thurman hails from there.

That what happens when someone idolizes someone too much. They tend to have tunnel vision. Pacquiao is not the same Pacquiao 10 years ago. He is a legend but he is not invincible. We will see in the fight tonight if he can still keep up with younger players. But in my opinion, even if he still can fight, he should retire. Since his son is also in boxing, he should consider coaching and training him. He can pass the baton to his son.
2352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: July 19, 2019, 05:56:23 AM
How the hell these projections show denver at the second seed? I mean Denver was alright last season but they literally barely beat an injury ridden spurs in 7 games (even though they were playing as second seed vs seven seed) and then lost to Portland.

I mean I get it they are good and they finished second seed last year but last year teams were not really caring about that much because they knew for a fact that warriors (with addition of boogie as well) would just sprint to championship easily, nobody really assumed warriors would get so many injuries. This season with that many teams contenting for title, its impossible for such a young team to get to second seed. Mine would be ;

 1- Clippers
 2- Lakers
 3- Rockets
 4- Warriors
 5- Denver
 6- Blazers
 7- Spurs
 8- Jazz

They are a young team and they have continuity. You cannot take that away from them. Regular season is different from playoffs. Since they are younger and healthy, they can play all 82 games so they are a top contender for the top seed.  If they fall from playoffs last season, it's because they have less experience in the PLAYOFFS. They will be better this year.
2353  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is binance really the best exchange to buy crypto? on: July 18, 2019, 03:36:00 PM
Hey. We had a discussion about crypto exchanges and everyone was kin on binance being the best crypto exchange. WHat are your thoughts, couse I don't really like it much..
(not saying its bad or anything, i know is one of the biggest and its a reason behind that)

They are the best until they run with your money or get hacked. Most of "best" centralized exchanges in the past either get hacked, scammed or stole customers money. I think those are the risks inherent with being a centralized exchange.
2354  Economy / Speculation / Re: Getting ready to buy! on: July 17, 2019, 11:52:15 PM
For me, it is already in BUY. The price has already dropped significantly from the previous push. That is already a good price point.

My move is, if the price drops more then I'll buy more. If the price starts to recuperate, then I will hold until I get the price target.

Some will just buy after it's above $10k.

I think if you buy after it is already recovering is already too late. Though if the target sell pont is the ATH, then 10K is still a good price. But for daily traders, then now is the perfect time to buy.
2355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin developers jump ship with the sudden high demand for Blockchain dev on: July 17, 2019, 11:38:55 PM
There is nothing wrong if they jump ship. If they feel that going into centralized blockchain is more beneficial to them then we cannot force them to stay. There is no lacking in developers anyway. I think those who are dedicated to bitcoin blockchain will stay and those who leave can be replaced with new developers.
2356  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: AVOID trading at all costs, unless.... on: July 17, 2019, 10:29:19 PM
...unless you have some skills from the financial world that you can transfer to crypto.... and even that, NOT SURE.

Too many newbies get burnt.

Unless you have solid experience at reading graphs, clouds, candles, etc, don't do it. You may make some money by pure luck when you will get burnt in the long term because it's a new field for you.

There is no worse feeling that selling at XXXX$ and then see the price go up by 2k in a week span.  Cheesy

My advice for newbies is to invest long term, by long term I mean 2, 3 years or longer.

Best of luck.

You will need experience to get better in trading. There is no perfect trader but the risk involved in trading is manageable. Self control and discipline contributes to becoming a profitable and safe trading.

Of course newbies should always have to learn first the fundamentals, risk management and technical analysis. Then slowly apply them to live trading. The common mistake is going full on without even knowing any basics. We do not call that trading. It's gambling.

And you do not chase that 2k uptick after you sold. You are a trader. You hit your target, you get out. There is always another opportunity to earn more.
2357  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: {Sports betting} Watch out for "professional tipsters" on: July 17, 2019, 10:12:56 PM
Some tipsters would rather give tips than use their own money to bet. Not everyone have the funds to gamble and remember their tips are not 100% sure win, even if their claim is 90% of their tip won, theres still a remaining 10% chance that they are wrong.

If you are 90% win rate, that is already very high  You can easily build wealth using your own prediction than hard selling them. It is like KD shooting free throws, it is almost guatanteed it will go in. Even if you lose once, you won't go broke. So I do not buy the alibi that they do not have money to fund their bets. How the heck can they get 90% if they are not betting? If anyone claims that high win rate and asks for money for tips, its a scam.
2358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: July 17, 2019, 09:33:46 PM
Wow Jalen thinks the Warriors will sink to the 7th spot after years of dominating the western conference.  I predicting the Lakers to finish in first, Lebron will have a strong fire burning after missing the playoffs last year and he got to rest after so many deep playoff runs year after year.

I favor the list of Jalen. He is right that Lebron is already old and may probably rest more and not play all 82 games. He cannot play like he played in Cavs where he plays 40-minute games without injury. Even if he stays healthy, the team will rest them to stay healthy for the playoffs.

But I believe nuggets will be the top seed for the west because they are younger and have more chemistry than HOU.
2359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever looked at how much you have wagered with a hanging mouth? :P on: July 17, 2019, 04:52:20 PM
I do not think that total wagered matters because when I looked at one site I gambled, I totaled 0.04 BTC wagered but I only used 200K sats to reach that wager.

Cheesy. That's got to be painful. But then again, just thinking how much btc i have used and gambled when it was only $500-300 makes me want to go full denial mode on my choices.

Same here. But I do not think of it that much because back then it was just small value and I enjoyed using it for gambling anyway. The most losses I incurred is from betting in sports but it made me enjoy the match more anyway.
2360  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Something I noticed when sending USD from Coinbase to my bank account on: July 17, 2019, 04:31:05 PM
I think that 3-days is the standard processing time for bank transfers. It could be less but since you are receiving a generic message then it will state 3 days. If it is just local bank transfer, it can be faster like one-day processing.
