Do you realize that pressure depends only on the height of the water column right? Making it wider doesn't change anything

1. Download the client and wait a couple days for it to sync.
Use a lightweight client like Electrum

Since when does it take a couple days to sync the main client?
Since the blockchain is huge, 4.8GB, i downloaded 1000 blocks some days ago and it took more than a hour, and my computer is a good one. Verifying blocks is the bottleneck
2367  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there anyway I can fund an MTGOX account with paypal funds on: November 16, 2012, 04:12:12 PM
No one will sell you bitcoin for paypal funds... You know, paypal transactions can be easily reversed  Smiley
2368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time for a renewed push to get EFF to accept Bitcoins? on: November 16, 2012, 03:54:12 PM
Their cutting off of bitcoin has left a bad taste in my mouth.  Who needs an institution that defends your rights only with permission from the authorities?

Nice setup, but the next month ASIC will arrive and will make it pretty much useless...

2373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Do I have to open the bitcoin client to receive BTC from others? on: November 15, 2012, 09:34:55 PM
Well, you must be sure that the client sent that transaction to some other nodes...  If it literally connected to 0 nodes and you close it then of course no, the transaction was not sent, obviously

2374  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No Shares When Mining on: November 15, 2012, 07:30:39 PM
You aren't doing anything wrong, but cpu mining is wasted time and energy. 93khash/s? Lol it's nothing. My 6950 does like 300mhash/s. 1 mhash=1000khash....

Btw, why are you mining? Mining is not a get rich quick scheme
2375  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The new Intel Phi 50 core PCIe board on: November 15, 2012, 07:24:46 PM
Would a miner take advantage of these new cores without any (or little) code changes?
http://www.drdobbs.com/parallel/intels-50-core-xeon-phi-the-new-era-of-i/240105810?donkey
Mining on it? It's perfectly doable, and very easy

is it a good idea? NO!

A normal GPU is much much better at mining than it. And in the next month ASIC will be released and they will be the best

The Xeon Phi is a great card, but not for things like mining.
2376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikipedia: "Some criticize Bitcoin for being a Ponzi scheme..." on: November 14, 2012, 09:35:03 PM
Well, it is silly for bitcoin too. So if in the bitcoin page there is that phrase, i want it in the gold page too, since bitcoin and gold have tons of similarities
2377  Other / Off-topic / Re: (NSFW) cam4btc.com on: November 14, 2012, 09:27:05 PM
That's a great thing!
2378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikipedia: "Some criticize Bitcoin for being a Ponzi scheme..." on: November 14, 2012, 09:23:51 PM
I should add

Some criticize gold, accusing it of being a Ponzi scheme

to the gold page

because it's exactly the same thing.  Cheesy
2379  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: AMD FirePro S10000 Server Graphics Card on: November 14, 2012, 06:27:21 PM
You don't need support for mining, if it doesn't work it's because the card is broken and you have to RMA it.

And it's not 5x faster in mining, it's impossible, it would have to use 5x power
2380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikipedia: "Some criticize Bitcoin for being a Ponzi scheme..." on: November 14, 2012, 06:14:11 PM
"Some have criticized Bitcoin for being a ham and cheese on rye, but a report issued by the owner of a large delicatessen states that Bitcoin lacks three core features of a ham and cheese on rye, namely ham, cheese, and rye."
