2361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Ripple (XRP) price will it recover or will it dump more? on: January 29, 2021, 09:28:22 PM
I doubt it is going to recover or go any higher as long as the lawsuit is hanging around. Though I am not sure what's currently going on with SEC and Ripple (i don't follow ripple), all I know is, they are either going to get fucked and if that happens, the price is going to dump further to almost nothing or your coins might get frozen (I am not sure about this, but I have heard XRP is centralized, and if that is the case, your coins can be frozen).
But there are others will to take the risk. They are hoping the price is going to skyrocket after Ripple wins the lawsuit.
2362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk adds #Bitcoin to his Twitter bio on: January 29, 2021, 04:04:15 PM
Elon Musk's tweet is certainly a lot surprising about cryptocurrency even the current trend on social media with the hashtag Elon Musk, of course big investors will be sure what Elon Musk said they believe bitcoi will be a valuable asset even as an investment in the future but is this? the price will stick up to $40k?

Some famous people are also now eyeing bitcoin after Elon Musk wrote Bitcoin in his bio. Will this change the finances that hold crypto? or just part of it and it doesn't apply to altcoins? Ah this is a sharp increase in a short period of time.
Wouldn't say it is surprising. As far as I know, Elon Musk is a huge fan of crypto currencies. It wasn't long ago he had his bio set to "Doge Coin CEO". Every time he tweeted a meme about doge coin, we saw a surge in the price. He told everyone to use "signal" and people started investing in the wrong signal stocks, causing it to skyrocket. This time he sets his bio to #Bitcoin, we see more people are now interested in bitcoin. In other words, his actions does have an effect everywhere. Would be stupid to deny it and people know that. Hence, people start investing as soon as they can knowing that others will enter the market to follow the trend.
2363  Economy / Economics / Re: The GameStop drama and what does it mean for Bitcoin on: January 29, 2021, 07:40:38 AM
If you are living under the rock, the GameStop (GME) stock trading has been making quite the news recently, because retail investors organized on reddit managed to pump this stock and made some hedge funds suffer tremendous losses on their short positions, to a point when trading had to be halted, and similar events occured with other stocks.
-snip-
This shows how those centralized financial institutions are controlled by the billionaires who can do whatever they want. When billionaires manipulate the market, no one cares, but when a bunch of regular people unite together to manipulate the price in order to "mess with them", then the whole world (the entities controlled by the billionaires) becomes concerned about the manipulation and deems it unhealthy to the market.
-snip-
I personally wouldn't hurry with conclusions, as this drama isn't over and we're yet to see any actions from SEC, who already said that they are monitoring the situation.

What do you think?
Lol, what else do you expect SEC to do? They will favor those hedge funds investors Wink.
2364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another billionaire just invested in bitcoin on: January 29, 2021, 07:07:28 AM
Great. More billionaires entering the bitcoin market which means more of them are being aware of crypto currencies and how they are going to give better return than banks. They are noticing that keeping their money idle on their banks is not worth anything. But I am just wondering, if more billionaire starts investing in bitcoin, wouldn't the price, like every other thing come under the control of those billionaires? Wouldn't they have huge impacts on the market? Like if we see that a billionaire moved his coins, people will start panicking. When billionaires sell their coins, the market might crash. Wouldn't it?
2365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 99% of CryptoCurrency Investors fail because they havent understood Crypto on: January 28, 2021, 05:31:26 PM
This is so true. Most of them who loses everything in crypto currencies are the one who doesn't understand how the market works. They are the ones who think "you can make quick profit within few days". They are the ones who "looks for" projects that are getting pumped 10x. Little do they know that the prices are actually being manipulated by the developers before it can be dumped. Other fail to realize how volatile the market can be and how those FUDs and FOMO causes short term imbalance in the market.
Maybe if they took time to learn all these, they wouldn't have failed in the first place.
2366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Beware, Traps from scammers via Telegram Groups on: January 28, 2021, 05:23:19 PM
Lol, I don't know why but this whole "telegram" groups are filled with scammers and spammers. Best to avoid them and join groups that are extremely trusted. If there are other options to join instead of telegram, join those.
Those who deposit coins on other wallet with the hope of "getting those tokens/balance" are plain stupid. They deserve to get scammed for being this idiot (and greedy). At least they are going to learn a lesson!
2367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CAN RIPPLE SURVIVE? on: January 28, 2021, 05:20:10 PM
Who knows.. The lawsuit may take years to settle. In the mean time everyone will be stuck in this "limbo". But people are believing that ripple will be able to fight back and has an upper hand to win the lawsuit. Or the SEC will eventually drop it. Hence, they are buying as much as they can during this dip to maximize the profit. No doubt, if people don't lose their confidence and ripple does win the lawsuit, the price of XRP will skyrocket.
But once again, this is all speculation and the opposite might also happen.
2368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High possibility major governments will BAN Bitcoin in the near future on: January 28, 2021, 08:00:15 AM
-snip-
Why do they do this? To remain in financial control and to stop financial crime like whitewashing of funds from happening. Is it likely to happen? Yes, the US banned holding gold privately in the 1930's. So that the US government was to be a monopoly gold holder in the US.
-snip
So you believe that the US government is the government of the world? It was the US government that did that. Not the world. And I guess you are talking about the executive order signed by Roosevelt, right? Yeah that was shit. Citizens were forced to give up their golds. The order was active for like maybe 40 years.
But I doubt that is going to be a case with bitcoin. Crypto currencies are decentralized. Hence they have no central authority to ban. I mean, no one can stop something that is P2P and decentralized. Look at torrents. Were they able to stop those? Nope.
2369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank with their crypto project on: January 28, 2021, 07:21:51 AM
What Crypto projects are you talking about? I haven't heard of any huge projects related to crypto currencies initiated by the bank. All I know is some that few banks around the world are willing to integrate blockchain technology into its current system. Integrating blockchain to their system does not mean that they are adding crypto currencies. Blockchain isn't crypto currencies. Blockchain technology is used to power crypto currencies.
Even if banks make crypto currencies it isn't going to be like the regular decentralized ones we have.
2370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We once had a barter system here, but the government smashed it on: January 27, 2021, 04:04:31 PM
-snip-
I wonder what this year will be like for BTC with so much bad media ( government )
publicity .
You have seen this "so much bad media" for the past few years, right? You see any difference in anything? Nope, you don't. But things have changed a lot. It is just that people aren't noticing. The government isn't pushing everything in one single day. They are imposing small rules and policies in such a way that people aren't even noticing the changes (all these small changes in a decade together has caused a huge change! People are just too distracted to notice!).
I would say this is one of the strategy the government is taking so that they can bring crypto currencies under their control through regulations without people making any noise.
Nothing we can do. It's inevitable.
2371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: KYC for bounty hunters on: January 27, 2021, 03:51:24 PM
You should know that you do not need your own personal documents to pass kyc because fake documents you can be created. On the other hand the amount of good bounty has decreased so many hunters will not agree to participate if you make kyc compulsory. Personally I don't want to waste my time to pass this kyc because the amount of best bounty is less and there is no money.
Making fake Identity Document is illegal. And as far as I know, all KYC IDs are passed through third party verifier where they can validate the documents. If you provide them with fake ID, they will know. Unless they don't use any third party or even try to verify the documents, you won't be able to pass. Though that would be suspicious. I mean, what do they do with those IDs then?
And don't send your ID for those shitty rewards. Once they scam you, the next thing they are going to do is sell your ID on the blackmarket to make some extra profit.
2372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do not be too happy on: January 27, 2021, 08:01:42 AM
Do not be too happy that big and giant companies are entering the field…
Because they set the price up and down whenever they want…
You should be happy when ordinary people invest more than big companies.
In simpler terms, it is much better if bitcoin or anything else that exists is distributed all over the world and reaches individuals and companies equally, or, as the saying goes, does not accumulate together.
Wherever governments or large corporations stand, they are sure to determine everything.
Successful and healthy  Wink
You or anyone can't do anything about that. You can't stop those "giant" companies from entering the market or put any restriction. After all, its a free market. But it is not like "one" single giant company is hoarding all those bitcoins. Hundreds of companies together are doing it. And I am pretty much sure, if we combine the coins of all regular users, we will see that those giant companies actually hold a negligible amount of coins. And, the supply isn't over yet. If those companies wants to own majority of the coins, they will also have to buy all newly minted coins. Would be interesting to see that happen.
2373  Economy / Exchanges / Re: DEPOSITING times on exchnages... on: January 27, 2021, 07:55:22 AM
Deposit should be instant after confirmation. I haven't heard of any exchange that "delays"/ "holds" incoming deposit. Taking 3 days for a deposit to show up sounds weird (unless changes has been made. though I haven't faced any such issue). Or was it some fiat deposit that you did like wire transfer? Some wire transfer gets delayed due to internal security check. Other than that they usually arrive in a business day or two and at most three. EFTs are almost instant. You probably did EFTs on other exchanges that you have used and doing a wire transfer on exchange.

How do I get rid of these morons?
Any help appreciated!
You are not getting scammed. You are receiving spam emails. Once you click on any of those links, you might get phished and then you will get hacked.
Those are random spam emails which is sent to mass people where the hacker is hoping someone naïve will open those links. You can't get rid of those "morons". You can try marking those emails are junk/spam/phishing and your provider will eventually start filtering out those emails. Or you can create a custom rule were certain words or phrases, if contained on the email will automatically delete it or send it to spam.
You email address was probably leaked somewhere online.
2375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Driving to the moon? HODLer installs portable mining rig in BMW on: January 26, 2021, 08:25:58 PM
This guy is probably damn rich to try out stuffs like this. I mean, this isn't an efficient way right? All those electricity he is going to need and even more when driving the car. Also, what like others said, what about the heat issue and the gpus weighing down the car?
Kinda feels like he just did it to get some reaction. He did say though he is doing it to "annoy the gamers" and the earnings are like a "bonus".
2376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin had a Billion Max supply instead of 21 million.... on: January 26, 2021, 04:23:26 PM
I doubt "doing some simple" math is going to help you find out the true value of the coins. The value of the coins doesn't depend on "numbers" only. Maybe if the max supply was a billion, people probably wouldn't have faith in bitcoin and the price might be much lower than expected. Or maybe the price might be much higher than today. More supply, more people owning bitcoin, more scattering of the coins, more trading and I guess with this, comes more stability?
Curious, what's the use of discussing about something that will never happen?
2377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another insane win!! $ 1B mega million jackpot on: January 26, 2021, 04:16:26 PM
Heard of it. Insane money to be honest. Like you have to be extremely lucky to hit the numbers!
In the last few weeks Americans have been very lucky in the lottery, this time there is a man who won $ 1 billion dollars from the mega million lotteries.  btw, I have tried playing mega billions several times at (cut this part) but never had any luck.  for unclear reasons, the man's identity is still a secret.
I have heard the odds are something like 1 in 500 million. So keep trying, maybe one day  Roll Eyes. Oh and we all know why that man's identity is still a  secret. He just doesn't want "unwanted" attention Wink.

-snip-
the tax cut was huge but I sure it certainly wouldn't piss him off.
-snip
He should be taking home around 600k USD after taxes. That is still a shit load of money.
2378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The right way to store Bitcoin for long term on: January 26, 2021, 09:28:52 AM
Hi guys,

I've been trying to learn about how to cold store securely my small bitcoin holding, and where I can move to as I buy more. I expect to be picking up more and more over the coming weeks and months.

1) Is something like a Nano Ledger or a Trezor the right method?

2) What app should be used?

Is there another more definitive, secure method of accumulating BTC for long term holding?

Thanks!

1. Yeah, hardware wallets like Trezor should work fine as a cold storage.

2. App for what?

If you are using hardware wallets, make sure you make proper backups in case your hardware wallet gets damaged, lost or stolen. For long term holding, just make sure you take proper security measures and once again don't forget to BACKUP your wallets!

Should I buy a laptop on it's own, and download nothing but electrum on it to store the BTC?

Would using a VPN be sensible when accessing the internet from said device?

For using a hot wallet? No, lol. You don't need to buy a laptop for just using wallets. You can use your current laptop as long as it is secured, free from any malwares and you "know what you are doing and what links you visit/click online". But, if you are being extremely paranoid, for your own good, maybe get a new laptop for just using crypto currencies. Don't remember when was the last time my computer got infect/hijacked. If you are using wallets like trezor, as far as I know, you wallets will still be safe even if you connect it to an infected computer (do your own research!).

VPN for what? Privacy? Sure.

2379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Start your investment quickly and safely. on: January 26, 2021, 08:24:32 AM
-snip-
Few modern crypto projects are offered by etherhunt.

-snip-
So etherhunt is a platform where you can invest on those projects? Most of the projects you are talking about are never heard of. So highly likely, they are scam projects waiting for investors to invest in them. And you know, no one would want to invest in a random platform.
Oh, and what happened to the fake project that you were promoting(or developing)? Are you trying to expand your scam business by creating an investment platform now?

2380  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you deal with 'Selling early' regrets? on: January 23, 2021, 03:28:36 PM
The only way to deal with it is by moving on and starting to invest again with a better strategy. If you sell early because you reached your profit goal, then there is nothing to regret about. If you sell early because you got nervous seeing the price rise, then learn from this mistake. If sell early because you saw the price dipping, then make sure next time you are ready for those small dips.
Move on, start investing and keep holding. Don't sell when you see the price dropping if you can afford losing all your investment.
