1381  Economy / Economics / Re: People tend not to move on: November 22, 2021, 10:53:43 PM
https://www.economist.com/britain/2021/11/18/britains-inequalities-are-spelt-out-in-its-surnames

A recent research presented in the article above indicates that
Quote
most people don't move
, geographically speaking. It is curious how most people are (randomly?) born somewhere and they tend to look for the opportunities to make a living on that place, do not go too far or think that they actually enjoy the freedom of deciding to go to anywhere else in the world unless they have serious pressing motivation (hunger, crime,...).

Reading this, I could not help but think that people also "don't move" in monetary terms. They are born in a certain region and they do not think that their money might very well better in some other form (e.g. bitcoin).
More like they don't move out of their comfort zone. They do know that their money might be used better somewhere else, but they just don't do want to do it because they are either very lazy and comfortable with what they have, or they just don't want to take any risk at all. Look at the media. I am sure they read a lot of stuffs about bitcoin on their social media platform and this scares them away from investing their money in crypto currencies. I am sure if crypto currency investments were risk free, every one would "start moving".
1382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it the end of crypto? on: November 20, 2021, 04:04:49 PM
I think its now the 100th time bitcoin and other crypto currencies have died. Every time the market takes a dip, people start saying that bitcoin is dead. If you are not new to the crypto market, you will know that this is very normal. Crashes happen every now and then. Just keep holding. Don't sell if you don't want to suffer loss. The market will eventually recover and in the long run you will be making profit. Don't fall for these FUDs where people say that its the end of crypto currencies.
1383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Viable Altcoin for the moment on: November 20, 2021, 03:40:19 PM
Have been looking for the most viable altcoin of the the week, as we are all aware of the deep that is currently happening in the entire cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin is my most preferred choice at the moment but am also looking for Alt that I can invest in for a long term basis that will offer me a passive profits in the long run.
Go for Ethereum. Invest now if you can and keep holding. Wait for Ethereum 2.0 upgrade and sharding. Fees will be low and the network will be faster than it is right now. This will cause the price to go up as people will be FOMOing right before the update is rolled out. You can also try investing in Solana and Cardano. Polka has also been performing very well. You can stake all of those coins and earn some passive rewards. Don't forget to do your own research first.
1384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should we buy tokens for young projects? on: November 20, 2021, 02:17:06 PM
I think this is a difficult question, isn't it too big a risk to invest in projects that are just being developed?
You are right. The risk is too high when you invest in a project that is new and just being developed. If the project get abandon or fails (like most of the new projects..), then you will lose everything you have invested. Even if the project doesn't fail, it doesn't mean that you will get a good return on your investment. There are several projects that were well developed, but there wasn't anything special that would have made the price skyrocket.
On the other hand, if the project has a good roadmap and a promising team, then you can invest and get good profit in the future. By the way, it seems to me that the CheckDot project, which is associated with the verification of other crypto projects, may be quite promising in terms of investments.
A good roadmap doesn't indicate anything. And projects that tries to shill for them are likely scam. I have been seeing a lot of checkdot shillings over here.
1385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 41% of people globally say they trust Bitcoin over local currencies on: November 20, 2021, 01:50:39 PM
I wonder where they did this research. It was for sure online on some technical website and not randomly over the phone like those surveys are usually done. I am certain, they wouldnt get such a high percentage that way because 40 % dont even know what crypto is, yet alone they would trust it over fiat.
Very highly likely the survey was done where the participants already use crypto currencies. Hence you will be getting a biased result. And the total number of participants is very low. So the result is most likely no where near accurate. Like 26% says that they will use bitcoin over fiat currency, but the survey shows that only 13% uses bitcoin as a medium of exchange.
To be honest, this fact generally saddens me. It turns out that people believe in their local currencies less than in bitcoin. Although they understand that local currencies are backed by at least something.
What's there to be sad about? They trust bitcoin more than their local currency because any wrong monetary policy made by the government will end up making their currency worthless. Do you think your local currency is backed by something?
1386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Wallet's and their compliancy with law enforcement on: November 20, 2021, 04:08:07 AM
Hello.

My query is very simple. If a law enforcement agency approached a wallet provider such as Coinbase, regarding acquiring information about the account holder, do they comply? I would understand why Coinbase would, but what ones specifically do not? If anyone knows, let me know.

Before someone comments it, hardware wallet's such as Trezor's etc are not an option.

Thanks.
Yes, they will hand over the information and will comply with the law enforcement agencies. They are allowed to provide their services to different countries only if they follow the rules of their country. And one of the rules is to collect data of the users and allow the government/law enforcement agencies to use them when needed.
The only way to avoid this is to use your own non custodial wallet where you own the keys of your wallet. All other custodial wallet services might at one point make you go through KYC or else they will just keep your funds frozen.
1387  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Dealing with a broker and wants his commission before I see the ROI on: November 20, 2021, 04:03:22 AM
I checked him out, even called my local division of finance and there is nothing out there on him. He is SEC and FINRA active.

I was thinking the same thing, can he not take his commission out of the ROI and then send it to me. I shouldn't have to pay more for him to release the ROI to me.

If anything, he should be able to return my original investment back to me in a act of good faith, keep the ROI and then if he does that, I can pay his commission to get my ROI in return.

I am using him, because he is supposidly a day trader, and I am a newbie

If i want to do this on my own, which crypto exchanges do you use?
You very highly likely got scammed. You found nothing about him on your local division, so whatever he said is probably a lie. He is asking for 15% comission from your ROI right? Don't you see it doesn't make any sense? He can just return you your investment and ROI minus the comission, but he won't do that. Because he already scammed you and now wants more from you. This is how scammers try to extract more money after scamming someone. And he saying that he will return your initial investment but not the ROI if you don't pay the comission is just pure bullshit. He is just trying to act like a saint so you trust him even more and feel tempted to pay him the comission.
1388  Economy / Economics / Re: Possible market crash in the near future? on: November 20, 2021, 03:07:42 AM
Of course there would be a possible "market crash" in the near future. This is crypto currencies. The market is very volatile and you will never know what is going to happen next. The crash might take place anytime. More like a correction. Zoom out the charts and see how much we went up within a year. So you should be expecting a correction anytime soon. The bull season won't go on forever. We will eventually enter the bear season. Just keep holding and invest as much as you can during a bear run. You will be able to maximize your profit in the long run.
1389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about buying a Fandom token and holding it? on: November 20, 2021, 03:04:25 AM
It's the first time I have heard of this token. Googled it. Nothing much showed up. Google result doesn't even show any result from coinmarketcap. So I guess they haven't even listed it over there. Coingeko showed up, and the data weren't much convincing. The price is down almost 100% from its all time high. The trading volume is too low. So probably a shit token. Don't buy it or hold it. It's too risky. Invest in some other coins or tokens.
1390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slot forecast on: November 20, 2021, 12:38:37 AM
Slot is one of the most preferred gaming game in most casino houses and online gambling platforms but one of it major defector is the fact that players can not give an accurate forecast of the outcome of the game and how the probably fair system works in favor of the house. Apart from dice that it outcome can easily be predicted slot on the other hand is unpredictable.
Lol, you are saying dice outcome can be easily predicted? Not sure what dice are you playing... but I am sure you are not gambling. If anyone could predict the outcome of the dice, the casino would end up going bankrupt. Users would clean the house. And it wouldn't be called gambling. Not only dice, you can't "forecast" any of the gambling games. If the provably fair system works in the favor of the house, then the casino you are talking about is scamming people. I guess you are talking about the "house edge" not the "provably fair system".
1391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Adoption Report Card - Year 12 on: November 20, 2021, 12:33:19 AM
Bitcoin class adoption has become the following at year 12:

- Poor man's currency

- Wealthy man's dangerously appealing new asset class

- Middle class man's not very much. Middle class in developed countries have way better medium of exchanges (or are at least viewed as such), and middle class in developed countries aren't going to pay $6,000 for 1/10th of something, or $600 for 1/100th of something.

Overall adoption grade: B-

Discuss.
1. How is bitcoin  a poor man's currency? A "poor man" shouldn't even think about investing in crypto currencies because most of them won't be able to afford the loss. Crypto currencies are long term investment, and they likely won't be able to hold long term.

2. Not even sure what you mean by this. Care to explain?

3. Did a "middle class man" from a developed country tell you that he won't invest in fraction of a coin? This is something stupid I have heard today. They can still make profit by investing in fraction of coins.
1392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Play-to-Earn games on ETH: What's the catch? on: November 19, 2021, 10:46:05 PM
Never tried anyone of those, but I guess those "free money" is what is attracting the users towards it. How much do they actually earn? I am guessing just peanuts. I hope they realize  that they are wasting their time and can do something more productive and earn better. And I heard that you can only earn when you invest. I mean those who invests more, they earn even more. So risks are actually high. I have heard about a game (forgot the name) where users were able to buy lands in a virtual world and sell it for profit. Kind of makes no sense to me at all.
1393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Is The Fastest Blockchain? on: November 19, 2021, 10:29:55 PM
Friends, I would like to know what is the fastest blockchain at the moment. I heard about the Tectum blockchain but there is very little information about them. Please kindly share your opinion.

Thanks.
Fastest? A lot of them claims to be the fastest. But would you use a "fast" blockchain, or a blockchain that is secure? I am sure you will be willing to use a chain that is actually secure. After all the information about your coins are stored in the chain. And most of the "fast" and "scalable" chains are mostly centralized. You don't want to be own a large amount of those coins because the risk of the chain getting tampered is high. Instead of looking for the fastest blockchain, stick with the ones that are currently well known. A little slow, but worth waiting.
1394  Economy / Economics / Re: Introducing a state-issued cryptocurrency on: November 19, 2021, 10:21:09 PM
Union Finance Ministry has take a decision on a state-issued cryptocurrency soon but ban all private cryptocurrencies. The VHP leader had sought a ban on all cryptocurrencies alleging its usage to fund terrorism, drugs and other 'anti national activities'. As all private cryptocurrencies are still not considered as legal tender or coin in India, but the govt may introduce an official digital currency in India.

I think its a good decision by government.. What you guys think about it?
I have heard a lot about Indian "banning" or "trying to ban" crypto currencies. and they haven't done that yet... They just keep on saying they will. As far as I know people are still using crypto currencies over there without any problem. Well, they are banning it because it is not a legal tender over there? Then why don't they just make it a legal tender in their country? If they can make their own state issued crypto a legal tender, then they can make other private crypto currencies a legal tender.
1395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Staples Center to be renamed Crypto.com Arena on Christmas Day!! on: November 19, 2021, 03:54:49 AM
Source: https://sports.yahoo.com/report-staples-center-to-be-renamed-cryptocom-arena-in-largest-naming-right-deal-in-history-050426958.html

Man this is huge news!!! I'm going nuts on this!!! Although that I am not a fan of Los Angeles Lakers or Clippers, this is a history in the making!!! Now crypto adoption and mainstream will be accelerating even more.

Thoughts on this guys? This is really exciting for crypto enthusiasts!!!!
And this is why crypto.com coin had a huge bull run recently. It's a good news, but I don't think anyone who aren't crypto enthusiast would notice anything. I mean people are still going to call it Staples. We have seen name changes a lot, but people still call them using their old names. Like most of the people still call Sears tower as the Sears tower. Call it Willis tower, I am sure there are people that won't recognize the name. But yeah, good for crypto.com. At least people will notice it because of the ".com" lol.
1396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will MEME coin rule the world? on: November 18, 2021, 11:33:07 PM
We have seen lots of MEME coins launched in these seasons! the question remains without use case will MEME coin rule the world or will it successes bring about more innovative change to the way we raise capital for social causes.

For example, the Mufasa coin savior of the Jungle was built on BSC, plans on starting its meme coin ($MUFA) with the idea of NFT, gaming, and saving the planet with its Token.

Whitepaper: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Px4vKbrtItfuwQMEBpa32VKbD3IUsM79/view?usp=drivesdk
Twitter: https://twitter.com/Kingmufasatoken
telegram: https://t.me/kingmufasaofficial

They are not yet to be launched but can they really be positioned to be a better meme coin than what already exists.

We all know the popular animation Lion King, this coin is birth with King Mufasa in Mind and how he had good intentions for the jungle compared to his Brother who wanted the jungle to destroy it.

Will King Mufasa Token influence change in the world with its proposition of saving the planet?

The meme coins won't be ruling anything. They will die eventually. Just few will survive. Look at how many meme coins are there. Literally thousands of them. See how many of them are at the top or at least at the "front" page. Only two out of thousands. Now you still think meme coins will survive? Most of them end up being a scam. Or they just live for few days and die. The Musafa coin is also very highly like a shit coin that has been developed on current hypes. "NFT", "Gaming" and "saving the planet". Check the market, you will find 10 more different coins with same utility.
1397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: First decentralized Gambling Platform? on: November 18, 2021, 10:37:59 PM
So it hasn't been launched and they are looking for funds to launch it? Others over here have stated there are already decentralized gambling platform, so them claiming to be the first is somewhat misleading. Maybe they meant something else, but if they really claiming to be the first one, then no one should trust them. Even decentralized projects can scam people. And I don't think anyone would want to use a decentralized gambling platform and I don't think any government would be happy to see one. All I can think of is how easy things would be for money launderers.
1398  Economy / Gambling / Re: Free bet in bitcoin sportbooks on: November 18, 2021, 08:56:18 PM
Better use your own deposit to make  bets. Those free bets will have insane rollover that will be almost impossible to achieve. Make sure you read their terms and condition of those free bets. There are conditions that you might not notice and you will end losing everything for breaching the terms when you try to withdraw your bonus. They usually also add a cap on how much someone can withdraw from free bets. So you might make hundreds on dollars, but you will end up receiving on like 5% of what you made. Not worth it at all.
1399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Shiba INU tokens continue to rise? on: November 18, 2021, 08:20:01 PM
If the community keeps on supporting the token, then yeah, it might rise. But I doubt it will drop back to its previous low anymore. A correction might take place, but it won't go as low as before. Look at doge. The price went as high as 0.7 USD, but a correction took place and is around 0.2 USD. Zoom out and you will see that few months ago, the coin was worth almost nothing. The price hasn't gone down to what it was like before because the doge community is huge. The same might happen with Shiba Inu. It might rise during a trend, but I doubt its going to crash back to where it was.
1400  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A positive evaluation of gambling. on: November 18, 2021, 12:34:39 AM
-snip-
PS: The purpose of this discussion is not in any way to encourage you to gamble more, but a pointer to show that amidst the dark clouds, there is still a silver lining.
Sounds more like "amidst the dark cloud" you are looking for an excuse to make yourself feel better for gambling.

-Development of Risk taking ability; to win big in life, you must be willing to try, and gamblers have so developed their risk taking ability.
It's true that to win big in life, we must try. If we fail, we must keep on trying. Now try that while. The exact opposite will happen. If you keep on trying to win big, you will end up with nothing. So yeah... not the best way to compare real life situation with gambling.

-Development of the ability to quickly let go of things and move on; Dwelling on the past and the possibility of "what could have been" is really not healthy and it can weigh you down and distract you from "what can be". Though not so easy, gamblers have developed this ability to easily look ahead from the "near win" of yesterday, to try again today
This means they haven't moved on from "what could have been". They are trying again today because of what they could have won last time, and this is what makes them an addict and they end of losing everything.

-Positive mentality (that is always believing that everyday we gamble, it may just be our lucky day for the big win).

- Consistency/ Not quiting attitude; Always trying regardless of  previous results.

These are exactly what messes them up. Their "positive mentality" is what ruins their life while gambling. They don't think about what's going to happen when they lose, they think about the profit only. If they thought about the losses,  they would stop when thing starts to go too far.
