Anyone care to make a Coinageddon countdown timer?

I made one based on this chart. https://i.imgur.com/puQbjNs.png

http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20130511T20&p0=37&msg=Bitcoin+post-crash+triangle+closing

I set it to 7PM GMT, not sure how accurate that's going to be. If someone can find out a more exact time that'd be great. It's surely gonna happen in the evening of the 11th. (If it doesnt break out prior to that)

You guys and gals are driving like this:

The excitement was in the past. That triangle completion will be a big "ho hum".

You're not suggesting we've reached saturation?

The market has absorbed all the recent investment and news, so the next 3 months may well be like the last three months of 2012. A gentle track with an upward bias, depending upon the success of the v0.8.1 deadline, and the conference this month too.
2362  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 08, 2013, 09:52:39 PM
I can see dry paint.

Does anyone have any theory as to why we've stopped at 112-114?

Look at the ask bids 114-120. Bouncing between 14k-20k. Way too many coins for a $6 span. Unless someone drops 2M we're not going up for the time being.

Indeed. This was my bold prediction - with some maths to back it up instead of the usual arm-waving...

ok traders - question for ya.

i've apparently talked my head off about bitcoin enough that my brother wants in. he wants to buy two block erupter blades from asicminer the next time they're available. i have word from friedcat (in a PM inquring about the group buy of usb's i'm running) that there could be more available in a week or so. worst case scenario, those will sell for about 75 btc each, as they did in the first auction...

Arklan, upfront cost payback for 10 Ghash @ 75 BTC is about 6 months with current difficulty unchanged. Do your maths using this chart for future projections...

2364  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 08, 2013, 03:13:25 AM
The lag is pretty silly, I don't know wy Mt.Gox puts up with people putting up bids of 0.01 @ 0.01 and then removes them, it's obvious spam to lag the server, they should at least throttle bids and asks that are far outside the range of current spot.

Please feel welcome to add to this:

LostDutchman,

I don't see why you didn't phone ahead to try and get a proper appointment, and maybe even a brief tour of the facility. A casual discussion about technical matters first would have been a better way to go, and move onto shipping questions at the end.
Seems like a wasted opportunity to get an inside look.
2366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Say bye to ripple, prepare to say bye to litecoin on: May 07, 2013, 11:49:20 PM
I have to admit though that the market disagrees with me. Litecoin is being valued by the market. It's valued around 1/20th of bitcoin. All things being equal this will probably continue in the future.

I don't see the practical use yet though. Maybe Litecoin will be needed for smaller transactions? (if bitcoin indeed allows smaller transactions less and less over time)

I think I get how the market values Litecoin.

BTC fx rate / block frequency ratio / transactions per day ratio

So,  approximately: LTC fx rate = $110 / (10 / 2.5) / (60,000 / 8,000) = $3.67

The block frequency ratio covers the inflation aspect, and the transaction ratio covers the measure of utility. Ideally, block reward transactions should be excluded from the transaction ratio.

But I am surprised. Where are most of the thousands of LTC transactions per day coming from?

Solex you are Bull? If you could buy $90 BTC right now by playing into an established downward trend would you?
(Hint: your answer is also the Market's answer)

Your question is:what makes you think the downward trend is still in place?
The dip to 102 may be the closest it gets to 95 for a good while. It was not really that far away. The market might be remembering all the times traders were left waiting on the platform for the perfect entry point when the train was whistling away down the track...

I meant a very bad sign pricewise. So you agree that it seems like we're going down?

No. Check out the hourly chart. The price is coiling for a spike to the upside.
2370  Other / Meta / Re: Languages of Bitcointalk on: May 07, 2013, 10:15:10 AM
Thought this might be interesting. Below, a chart of posts on BitcoinTalk by language. (apologies for the bad quality)

That's actually a chart of posts by language section not by language overall.

Some language topics in the 'Other' section have more posts than some of the 'Local' forums.

For example the Greek topic in the 'Other' section has 170 posts whereas the Hebrew local forum has only 115 posts.

Yes. It is interesting.
Wonder how many forums are hosted on completely different sites? I imagine that China has a local one (or more) which many people there use.
2371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Say bye to ripple, prepare to say bye to litecoin on: May 07, 2013, 09:58:11 AM
Litecoin has value over and above bitcoin because transfers are faster. In fact, there isn't really a reason for bitcoin to exist (sacrilege I know) once litecoin becomes mainstream, because it's the same but slower.

Feathercoin, CHNCoin etc offer no benefit over litecoin, however...

Translation: "I have more Litecoins than Bitcoins."
LOL  Cheesy

Indeed. If Litecoin is to prevail over Bitcoin because of its 2.5m block time then Litecoin will itself be toast because Feathercoin and Chinacoin are both much faster than that. One or both of those would prevail instead.

Edit: Chinacoin at least with its 1 min blocks

So, we're going to see 95 again?

Yes, we are. Very soon. Winter is coming  Grin

Bitcoin winter for a frozen bear...

Solex bought just to troll me.  Wink

Haha. I wish.
There are degrees of boldness and the wall of fame has some real doozies.  To be fair, your prediction is milder than most.
FWIW, I agree with Ares, we are seeing an upper channel break-out. But is it a fake-out of a break-out? I am sure Rpietila has a view!

2374  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 07, 2013, 06:00:36 AM
This whole price drive-down was probably done so that as bank transfers come in from that long Japanese bank holiday they can get cheap coins. I think we're going right back up.

No.  Wink

My guess is $100 in less than 5 hours.

Edit:
Because magic!

Congratulations Frozenlock, you have joined the Wall of Fame too  Smiley

Anyone interested in puts?  Grin

As you might know by now, I want to buy bitcoins, and what would be a better way to buy them than giving others permission to sell at lower than current price and net the margin. Worst scenario would be to just net the margin..

Imho, we will see either 110 or 102, one before the other. Prepare accordingly.

We just saw 110 and 102 in the same candle only 2 hours ago!
If you have no useful information then best to remain silent until this changes.
2377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is bter.com legit? Can't withdraw any funds on: May 07, 2013, 05:02:08 AM
Getting 404 error connecting to bter.com (isitdown agrees).
Anyone know if this happens often for this site?
2378  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-05-06 Financial Times: US regulators eye Bitcoin supervision on: May 07, 2013, 03:44:48 AM
As citizens,  we need to stay extremely vigilant in making public how much taxpayer money is spent on regulating bitcoin.  Anyone care to estimate how much in legal fees were spent to send out the FinCen position paper?

According to Krugman's arguments, all taxpayer money spent on legal fees is an economic stimulus! Much more effective for the economy getting QE into the hands of the professional class directly rather than indirectly via the primary dealers.
2379  Economy / Speculation / Re: You western guys are over-interpreting the CCTV coverage on: May 06, 2013, 11:16:55 PM
I have my few personal rules to survive BTC market:

1. Don't believe in possible news, believe in real news.

2. Don't believe in wall that doesn't want to be eaten, believe in wall that does.

Ha ha, indeed. Wish it was so easy to distinguish possible news from real news and fake walls from real walls. Let me know if you work those out...!
2380  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin to fall to US$70-80 and further to US$ 50 on: May 06, 2013, 11:10:05 PM
I just had a source confirm who predicted the 110 price as of now at 6pm and further said, bitcoin will crash to 70-80 in the next few hours/1 day (depending where you are) followed by 50 and then stay there for a week or two and then bounce again after the conference to 120 and go back down.

Sell sell sell now for your profits.... and buy back...

cheers!

I found the source too...
