2381  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just moved half of my funds off Bitstamp back into nice safe and warm Bank Konto on: March 19, 2014, 06:11:27 PM
I withdrew last night, SEPA transfer, was asked no questions (other than my BIC/IBAN, which seemed fair enough) and got an email that the transfer had gone ahead this morning. It wasn't much money (maybe they ask questions for larger amounts?) but it was pleasingly straightforward.

I have withdrawn small amounts just to see how process ran and both times it went smoothly.

This time however I asked for a 5 figure sum and this time the transaction is proving problematic although it is going back to the exact same bank account that paid it in (and much more besides) to begin with. They have all the details that they need from me. This transaction really shouldn't be a problem for them, yet it seems that it is.

Capital flight underway from Bitstamp? The BID side of the order book certainly seems to have shrunk quite a bit recently.

UK banks are required to notify authorities (can't remember who) when £10k+ transfers are made. Presumably the same elsewhere?
2382  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just moved half of my funds off Bitstamp back into nice safe and warm Bank Konto on: March 19, 2014, 05:58:15 PM
Did you get your funds from bitstamp?

Ah, erm........ Undecided

No, I have not. They want me to prove from where I got my money from to begin with, before they give me my money back. Money which they had no problems accepting in the first instance. I told them that they have no right to even ask this information, let alone ask for personal documents proving where I get my money from. The case is ongoing but I started out thinking I would withdraw around half of what I have on Bitstamp. I think now I might have to withdraw everything one way or the other. This whole Bitstamp KYC routine reeks of rancid delaying tactic pish to me.

If Bitstamp, the main USD cash out exchange, is also running a fractional reserve Bitcoin exchange as I strongly suspect BTC-e and Bitfinex are, and are in fact insolvent and have started on the same path as Gox, then the whole Bitcoin system is in a lot of trouble. This would entail a whole lot more people getting burned and the price discovery of Bitcoin as defined by exchange rates, rendered totally irrelevant.

If you consider your European bank account save you can't have much to begin with.

Go regurgitate me some more dogma, u fkn parrot.

My intutition tells me that we will see old "pay per click" Vs new "crypto tip" paradigma in next year on social network arena ...

That would be cool. There may be resistance from big social networks... Facebook failed with Facebucks or whatever they were called and might be bitter about it. Apple certainly not keen and I'm not sure Google will want the challenge to its creaking Wallet system.
2384  Economy / Speculation / Re: my intuition says: we're sitting on a rocket about to be ignited on: March 19, 2014, 05:02:56 PM
Also possible. It then becomes a bet: What do Big Money think the future will bring? And what do I think they think?

This is roughly where I'm at now. I'm still of the opinion that bitcoin is overpriced, though. The real question is what effect new investment, Big or Popular, will have. I tried to ask this in another thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=505406.0) and got mostly useless responses (with one or two exceptions).

In bitcointalk when someone disagrees with you they accuse you of being a fake account  Cheesy

Agreed.
Also when they inexplicably agree with a self-evidently moronic prediction.

EDIT:
VC $ is pouring in, but the mood is very Bearish.
fuel fuel fuel !

You'd think so, wouldn't you... just not at the moment. Anyone care to guess why?
1) It's priced in already
2) There's a lag between investment and these technologies becoming useful to consumers - watch this space (6 months?)
3) Something else.
3) Real Money™ are buying coins off the exchanges, either from large holders or directly from miners. This obviously will not influence the price, except to reduce the amount available for dumping. Once this supply dries up, all we will have left is what's on the exchanges. A large enough holder can drive the price up and make money doing so.

Good theory. Makes sense but do you have proof?
FWIW I suspect all three play a role, since
1) Speculators haven't been entirely shaken out - they're still buying the hope
2) Popular investment will only come when the technology makes it possible/easy
3) What you said.
If there was Proof the price would not still be as low as it is. Real Money™ is all about speculating and making sense of data points and patterns.

What we know: Businesses are adopting bitcoin, big names are interested, legislation is in the process of being made, the number of active wallets is increasing. All good news. Money is pouring in, there simply is no way it is not. So it must be doing so in such a way as not to move the market. That leaves few options.

Ok... quite possibly, but let me play devil's advocate a moment.
Big names are interested but they are chiefly dealing with infrastructure. Bitpay, for example, doesn't need to hold bitcoins for long to make a profit.
There are lots of new active wallets. But this could be due to the post-Gox loss of confidence in exchanges. People don't want to keep coins or money on an exchange now. Withdrawn bitcoins = new and active addresses. Sold coins = falling prices on exchanges.
Legislation is being made, but the situation is still unclear: big money is waiting until they know it's safe.

2388  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prepare for March 16 Dip on: March 19, 2014, 02:55:30 PM
This prediction has been an amazing success, much profit for those who took my advise.

I predicted march 16 when bitcoin was $700, I was posting about it even before this thread on various threads.

The dip happened within the range starting precisely on march 16. The price will be heading downwards soon if buying erodes (which seems to be likely)

To all the haters, you lost on this opportunity, instead of profiting you chose to hate. That's why ur still peasants.

I will be providing more predictions in the future, based on my friend's mathematical talent.

From this we see that:

a) the downtrend you didnt predict led to 70$ price fall before the "major dip" you suspected
b) your major dip was a lame 20$
c) you are a clown

Also one can notice that there are lot of brown noses in this topic, prolly alternate accounts of the OP.

Yeah, I've been a little suspicious of IAmComrade...

no it really was a very accurate, precise and amazing prediction and I give cosmofly full credit and due respect.

I also give him all the credit he is due. I think he has established his reputation firmly. Next time he posts a prediction, everyone will know exactly how much attention to pay.
2391  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just moved half of my funds off Bitstamp back into nice safe and warm Bank Konto on: March 18, 2014, 06:06:22 PM
Seleme,

You need to stop correlating the English with excessive swearing. Low class, Chav Scum do swear and behave in the manner you suggest (I would include matthecat in this category Smiley ) Quality middle class English types know when it is appropriate to swear and use it sparingly and in the correct context....

Absolutely right.
They will also use different terms to reflect their superior upbringing. "Bloody hell". "Arsewit". And so forth.
"Strewth, guvnor" and "Lawks a mercy" might be appropriate to the lower classes who know their place.
2392  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prepare for March 16 Dip on: March 18, 2014, 04:08:42 PM
3% is not major dip, especially compared to past weeks.

eh , way too much speculations based on voodoo and magic...

Actually it's more like 10% since March 16th Peak, maybe 15% since he posted this thread, but not significant enough to be considered "major". However, this may pave the way for lower prices towards the end of the week if no buying support is found.

If indeed we see lower - mid 500's again by the end of the week, this prediction (or whatever you call it) can be considered fairly accurate.

I'm sorry, it really can't. If we do have a 'major' dip after today, it will be entirely inaccurate, since it predicted a dip for 16th +/- 2 days (without, of course, specifying what a major dip was).
2393  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just moved half of my funds off Bitstamp back into nice safe and warm Bank Konto on: March 17, 2014, 09:08:29 PM
the last time I listened to MatTheCat's TA, i sold half my btc holdings and the price went up $100 about 30 mins later. After it went up, he essentially said "oops, nevermind."

Thanks Mat, keep up the good work.

Don't listen to him, listen to me. I do have in my possession a pretty reliable TA. It involves a single step and when you finish counting to 10, you'll be richer.

Is it "Buy low, sell high"? That's always worked well for me.
2394  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prepare for March 16 Dip on: March 17, 2014, 06:29:08 PM
I'd wish that the "maybe girlfriend Asian or not" had survived in this thread, it would have made so much more sense now.

Yes. But not THAT much more...
2395  Economy / Speculation / Re: Saw the future on: March 17, 2014, 04:40:20 PM
Good job! We should all be doing the same to broaden the useful bitcoin economy.

Also I believe Satoshi Nakomoto will be eventually outed and will eventually win a Nobel Peace Prize in economics.

Or else kidnapped and tortured until he gives up the private key to what by that point could be a $10 billion stash of btc. Could go either way.

"+/- 2"

This is only the start of the +1, we still have another, if we end up in $500+ ranges by +2, I think you guys will owe him a huge apology

Perhaps you're right. But just so we're clear:
1) You believe that OP has an autistic savant friend who can predict btc price with uncanny accuracy?
2) You believe this uncanny accuracy should nevertheless be stated in vague terms of a 4-day window?
3) Ditto no detail on what constitutes a 'dip' (5%? 50%?)?
4) You think the whole digression about the 'girlfriend' was in good taste?
5) You've checked cosmofly's other posts and know that this kind of crap is entirely out of character?

Just to nail my own colours to the mast, I'm not expecting to do any apologising, coincidental dip or otherwise.

Oh, there's no surprise there, you represent the norm here, people who are quick to curse and slow to praise.

As for me, I encourage the OP to try to develop whatever senses he and/or his friend are trying to work with, in the right setting it might prove useful.

Savants are rarely appreciated by the larger audience, I'm in the smaller audience that does appreciated them for whatever they bring to the table of life ,to share with the rest of us.

As for all of the other contentions, I don't care his girl and I'm not motivated to look at his past posts.

It doesn't matter to me if it's true, a hoax, revelation, inspiration, hacked account tolling, or whatever I've learned long ago that opportunities come in very strange ways, those who are able to recognize them are those who will benefit the most.

Odd assumption to make about me given the rest of this thread, but since your post otherwise makes almost no sense at all I don't care to debate it. Good luck with your speculating based on cosmofly's insights, anyway.

All I will say is that they clearly don't make autistic savants like they used to.

cosmotard

I assume by deleting my post you agreed to our 1btc bet ....

So here we are and no dip ...so pay up biatch !!!

Or do u need 1 more day for your +/- 2 days ...ok I ll be back on the 18th with friends to collect my money  Cool

Cosmofly obviously loaded with BTC and has powerful friends in BTT. Everyone post with critcism got deleted even mine. I even posted pic of his beautiful girlfriend but that got deleted.

Reminds me of the mighty repitelia same used to happen!

This thread isn't self moderated, how did your posts get deleted? Forum Mod?

Correct. And not just me

I'm also unimpressed about the number of posts that have been removed. Especially on a thread that was clearly utterly inane from the very start. I don't think that anyone really took seriously the suggestion that at an unspecified point in the near future, the price of btc would drop by an unspecified amount.
Cosmofly got the replies he deserved.
How long until this one is deleted?
2400  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prepare for March 16 Dip on: March 16, 2014, 08:05:54 PM
Well, March 16 is here and I can't see huge changes, may be they'll be tomorrow?

But I thought autistic people were always right?

Yeah, Dustin Hoffman never said +/- 2 days in Rain Man.
